The door slid open again, and this time it showed David, Kate's new friend from Diagon Alley! "Hey, David," she greeted. "I was wondering if I'd see you on the train." She gestured to the other girl and said, "David this is Addelyn. Addelyn, this is David." Now that the introductions were over, Kate couldn't help but add, "David's got a really cool mom! She used to be the Headmistress, so David's been to the castle load's of times." It was EXCITING!

Her anxiousness was apparent through the sound of her voice. She jolted her head to the sound of the door opening. She looked over at Kate who knew the boy. She was internally grateful for Kate doing the introduction for her.

Upon hearing about Davids mom being the former Headmistress, Adelynn's jaw dropped. She quickly pulled it back up and tried to act casual.

"Wow! It's nice to meet you David. It's like really cool that your mom used to be the Headmistress and that you've been to the castle and all. You must know everything about all the different areas of the castle! I heard that there's so many different rooms you could go to that it would take weeks to get to them all!"

Her attempt at being casual had failed but at least she had come out of her shell a bit.

Yeah, of course Davie would come find Kate on the train! That was the last thing they'd talked about, after all. He was grateful that Kate was doing the introductions, because that was a small social custom he still hadn't mastered.

"Nice to meet you too, Addelyn," he mumbled with a small smile before his whole face reddened as Kate brought up who his mum was. Was Headmistress, because she wasn't anymore, Abr--- er, Botros was, and Davie was just the son of two had-beens.

The girls didn't seem to be dwelling on that, though. They actually thought this fact about his parent was cool.

"Oh, yeah, I've pretty much grown up and around that castle," he confirmed, his face slowly cooling as he found something to talk about. "I like it. It does have a lot to explore, a lot of good hiding spaces, so it's a good thing we'll have all year there." He paused for a moment, glanced between the two older girls as he realized something. "Haven't you been to Hogwarts before, Ad-- Addelyn?" He had just walked in on her introducing herself to Kate. He wasn't sure if maybe she was a firstie too.
