New post
And I'd like to dedicate this post to Jesse; may you always be in our hearts. Miss you.
“Mumma?” Abigail said sleepily from the floor. Charlie had already dozed off on the couch while Christelle lounged in an arm chair, wide awake.
“Hmm?” she asked as she glanced up from her book.
“Are you mad at Daddy?” she whispered. Christelle knitted her brows together as she studied her daughter closely. Christelle closed her book, marking her page and held her arms out for the little girl, who excitedly accepted the offer and snuggled into her arms.
“You silly, silly girl,” she cooed as she ran her hands through Abigail’s hair, causing her to yawn.
“I’m not mad at Daddy, sweetheart,” she whispered with a kiss to her cheek.
“So you and Daddy aren’t going to break up?” she whispered as she tucked her head farther into her mother’s shoulder.
“No, baby, we’re not. Daddy and I love each other very much, just like how we…love…you,” she whispered as she affectionately bopped her on the nose with her forefinger.
“Promise?” she yawned.
“I promise,” Christelle answered.
“Mumma, is the baby going to take my place?” she breathed as she clutched her mother’s fingers tightly in worry. Christelle went rigid, startled at the idea.
They had told her the night before they had went to the Burrow, and she had seemed fine with it—maybe not completely understanding it, but fine all the same. They had taken her lack of enthusiasm as being too tired and had tucked her in. But now, the puzzle pieces seemed to be fitting together.
“Is that what you think is going to happen?” Christelle asked soothingly as she squeezed her daughter’s hand back reassuringly.
“Well, you were so happy about it… I thought you’d forget about me,” Abigail whispered and Christelle could hear the threat of tears beginning to release from the little girl.
“Sweetie, do you have any idea how happy we were when we found out that we were having you?” Christelle asked sweetly and Abigail sniffled slightly. She shook her head quickly against Christelle’s shoulder and Christelle wiped at her eyes.
“Daddy and I were more happy than you could ever imagine, love. You are and will always be our little girl, and we would never dream of getting rid of you, understood?” Abigail nodded weakly and Christelle smiled. “We love you very much, and we don’t plan on you going anywhere,” Christelle murmured in her ear.
“Just because we’re having another baby doesn’t mean you won’t be Mummy and Daddy’s little princess, okay?” Abigail yawned again and Christelle scooted out of the chair, Abigail hanging on to her at the hip.
“Let’s get you to bed,” she said lovingly as she kissed Abigail’s hair.
“Give Daddy a kiss.” Christelle bent them forward so Abigail could kiss Charlie’s cheek. He stirred slightly, but didn’t waken and Abigail giggled.
“Charlie, time to go to bed,” Christelle murmured when she returned to the living room after putting Abigail in bed.
“Mmmm,” he groaned but didn’t waken. Christelle smirked devilishly as she straddled his waist, leaning in to trail kisses from his forehead to his chin. His hands moved to her hips as he smiled at her lazily.
“Now, what do I owe to this pleasure?” he whispered as she left a peck on his lips.
“Time for bed,” she whispered as she stared down at him with a smile.
“Why, yes, yes it is,” he said with grin and she shook her head with a smile.
“You, Mr. Weasley, are incorrigible,” she whispered.
“But irresistible,” he amended.
“Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night, dear,” she replied with a quirked eyebrow. Before she knew what was happening, he flipped them over, effectively pinning her underneath him as she squealed. He started tickling her sides as they laughed.
“What was that you were saying?” Charlie asked as he paused momentarily.
“That you are very, very irresistible,” Christelle grinned. Charlie kissed her lightly as they relaxed on the couch. He scooted down far enough to lay his head on her stomach as she fingered through his hair.
“Is Abigail already asleep?” Charlie asked quietly as his hand moved over the side of her stomach.
“Mmhmm,” Christelle answered.
“She thought we were breaking up,” Christelle whispered.
“Really?” he asked as he looked up at her. She nodded and he frowned slightly.
“What did you tell her?” he whispered.
“That we weren’t. That we were very much in love, and that we loved her just as much,” Christelle replied softly.
“Mmmm?” “And then she asked if the new baby was going to replace her,” Christelle added.
“Is that really what she thought?” Charlie asked, perplexed.
“Yep, but I made sure she knew that we could never replace her and that we love her,” Christelle answered.
“That’s good; I’ll make sure I talk to her tomorrow,” Charlie whispered back before he dipped down and kissed above her belly button.
“Mmkay…”
“You know what we haven’t done?” he whispered with a grin and Christelle shook her head.
“We haven’t chosen a name,” he said with another kiss to her belly button.
“And how do you suppose we choose a name without knowing the sex?” Christelle inquired, shifting slightly under his gaze.
“Oh c’mon, it’s going to be a boy,” Charlie said with the roll of his eyes.
“What makes you so sure?” Christelle said with a teasing tone.
“I just am,” he said stubbornly.
“Okay, fine, I’ll entertain for the time being…
If it’s a boy, what should we name him?” Christelle smiled.
“What about Bryce or Jesse?” “I do like those names,” Christelle mused.
“And what if it’s a girl?” she asked with a smirk.
“I thought you were entertaining me?” Charlie asked with a frown and Christelle chuckled, which turned into a yawn.
“I guess we’ll continue this later,” Charlie smiled as he heaved himself up from the couch and bent down to pick her up. She squealed lightly as she circled her arms around his neck.
“How about Bryce, Jesse, and Caroline?” Christelle murmured sleepily.
“As in Bryce or Jesse because it’s a boy and Caroline if it’s a girl?” Charlie asked cheekily.
Christelle didn’t answer him as she was lowered into their bed. She cleared her throat with a small “Ahem” before looking him square in the eye and smiling shyly.
“No, Charlie, I do not,” she whispered. He looked at her in slight confusion.
“At the hospital, when you were getting checked out, the Healer came in and told me some news,” she said quietly. Charlie sat down on the edge of the bed and stared at her expectantly.
“We’re really pregnant, Charlie,” she whispered. Charlie continued looking at her blankly and she sighed.
“It’s triplets, Charlie,” she said softly and he went completely rigid before breaking out into a dazzling smile.
“You’re not joking?” Christelle shook her head with a frown.
“Seriously?” Charlie asked in awe before smothering her in kisses.
“You’re okay with this?” she checked.
“Of course! This is incredible!” he laughed before stopping and staring at her.
“Are you okay with this?” he asked as he cupped her cheeks in his hands.
She nodded silently as tears built up in her eyes.
“I just didn’t tell you sooner because I didn’t know if you’d be okay with this! I mean, we’re not prepared! We were only thinking one more, and now it’s three! And Bobby’s still out there, and now he has a gang, and I don’t want to put them in danger before they’re even born!” she ranted on and on until Charlie hushed her up with a kiss.
“We’ll be fine, and yes, we weren’t prepared for three, but we can get prepared. And Bobby isn’t going to be coming anywhere near us because he has no way of finding us and we aren’t leaving the house until he’s caught,” Charlie said soothingly.
“Yeah, about that… We’re actually leaving the day after tomorrow,” Christelle said nervously.
“What for?” “Well, see, this is actually what I talked to Mum about… We’re, er, going to see my parents,” Christelle whispered before she held her breath. Charlie tilted her chin up so she would meet his steady gaze.
“Is it what you want? Putting my mother’s thoughts aside, is this what you want?” he asked quietly. Christelle nodded slowly before taking his hand in hers.
“I have this feeling that I need to go back,” she said quietly.
He studied her for a very long minute before nodding.
“Okay, we’ll go, but we’re not going alone and Abigail isn’t going,” he said firmly. She brought his hand to her mouth and lightly grazed her lips over his knuckles.
“I know,” she whispered.
“Abigail is staying with George and Angelina, here. Dad and Mum are coming with us,” she told him with a small smile.
“Bill too,” he said immediately.
“I think Bill should come too, just in case,” he said urgently and she nodded in understanding before pulling him farther up the bed.
“Are those the only secrets you’re keeping from me?” he muttered as he climbed under the covers.
“I think so,” she said with a grin. He chuckled a minute amount as he pulled her into his side, hugging her tightly.
“I love you, Charles Weasley,” she whispered as she kissed his cheek.
“And I, you,” he answered as he intertwined their fingers.
What do you think?
