| | | JKR Appearing at Edinburgh Book Festival! - Summary:
Update on her official site... Article: JKR has updated the news section on her official site and has announced that she will attend the Edinburgh Book Festival on August 15th: Quote: 10/07/04
I will be reading and answering questions at the Edinburgh Book Festival on 15th August this year.* This will be my fifth appearance at the Edinburgh Festival; there have been readings for each of the first four Potter books, and this time my appearance will coincide with the UK publication of 'Order of the Phoenix' in paperback.
I am looking forward to this event very much, because there will be a relatively small audience, which means I can see faces and take questions directly from the fans.* Of course, events such as the readings at the Toronto Skydome and the Albert Hall are incredible, but nothing can replace the pleasure of interacting with enthusiastic readers, as opposed to waving at a sea of skin coloured blobs.( )
As the number of tickets is restricted, they will be available by ballot rather than on a first come, first served basis.* To apply for tickets, buy the Herald newspaper on Saturday 10th July or the Sunday Herald on 11th July to get a ballot form, or visit Bloomsbury's website at www.bloomsbury.com, where you can apply online from Monday 12th July. For more information on the event, visit here. To download the ballot form go here. Tickets are priced at £3.50, there are only 500 places. Applicants will be drawn from random to attend - if you dont receive word by 23rd July 2004 then your application has not been accepted and thus your details with cheque and credit card details will be destroyed. All applications must be sent in by the 20th July 2004. |

Well, I've made my application. At £3.50 it's a great bargain, I just hope I get picked. Fingers crossed!

| I know it would be really difficult to get tickets there because there are limited amounts! I've never really heard of balloting anyways...

I've never really heard of balloting anyways... It means that if more than 500 people apply (which, they will! ) then applications are "drawn out of a hat" type thing, at random. That way it makes it fair, as first come first served is not a fair way of deciding as the Royal Mail cant help delays in the post etc..
