Video: David Heyman reads J.K. Rowling's first note on trio in Harry Potter films
As part of the promotion for the release of the Ultimate Collector's editions of Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, a new video has been released showing producer David Heyman at the first press conference in 2000 reading a note he received from J.K Rowling. The note entails her feelings about Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson being cast for the roles of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, respectively. It can be viewed below.

Having seen Dan Radcliffe's screen test, I don't think Chris Columbus could have found a better Harry. I am also delighted to see that we're going to have a screen Ron and Hermione who can bicker as if they'd been doing it all their lives. Chris's choice of three wonderful British actors for the leading roles shows how well he understands the spirit of these books. I wish Dan, Emma, and Rupert the very best of luck, and hope they have as much fun acting the first year at Hogwarts as I had writing it.
The Ultimate Collector's editions of the first two films can be pre-ordered via the following links (currently only in the US and Australia):
Dan is sooo cute!! I think David Heyman got a little choked up while reading that letter. That was really sweet of JKR and so true. The trio are perfect for the role of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. They could not have chosen anyone better. They all were clearly meant for those roles and they do a wonderful job!
What is it with today and all these wonderful videos? My heart is going to tear from the emotions of seeing all this footage, especially with the music in the back because my mind just went back to the day when I first discovered Harry Potter...the smell of the pages and the eagerness to read on. I feel so happy right now that it's indescribable.
Columbus is dead on about Dan as Harry. There really is this goodness that cannot be explained about him. He is totally believable in the role.
I am honestly crying right now and all choked up as I write this, because it really hit me today that this is really coming to an end. My childhood...
What have you done to me SS? lol
Very lovely of Jo to write that. And as many have pointed out, it must have been an awesome bolster for their confidence to hear the master behing the Potter series sing their praises.
that was one good vedio...and the thre of them are really cute in it. no doubt Chris did a right job of casting these three people...and when Dan was talking about him being like harry...aw....he was so cute...he was a joker even then coming up with lines like 'cause i want to have an owl' and Jo was really sweet to write the note about the trio....
aaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwww so so so cute and lovely these three!!
The note by Rowling is brilliant!!! If we could turn back time..... Well i should no it what to do.....
