Tom Felton talks Draco, Harry Potter costars; Daniel Radcliffe on Ron/Hermione kiss
Tom Felton opened up to the Daily Mail recently about his work in the Harry Potter series, including how he cried on the final day of filming Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and his relationships with former costars Daniel Radcliffe and Helena Bonham Carter. New photos of the Draco Malfoy actor by Richard Grassie to accompany the interview were released in the UK publication, as well, and can be found in our galleries.
There’s a lot to be said for being the bad guy. Tom Felton: There’s something alluring about the dark side. People say Draco is sexier than Harry. Harry is just a nice guy, surrounded by so many strong characters, whereas Draco stands out on his own. And there’s something about the way the Malfoys look, with their white hair and black suits. I wouldn’t be worried about playing a bad guy for the rest of my life. Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman and Jason Isaacs have made fantastic careers out of being memorable villains. I’d be happy to follow in their footsteps.
Draco has got an exceptionally hot wife in the final film – who is actually Jade (Olivia), my off-screen girlfriend.
Tom: We met on the set five years ago. It was love at first sight in the Hogwarts Great Hall – for me at least. Jade had been asked to be an extra for the day. The Slytherin table were doing our naughty thing, looking around for good-looking girls, and she caught my eye. The weird thing is, I didn’t really see her or speak to her for about two years after that, then we ran into each other on set again, and three cups of tea later, here we are.
I almost blubbed shooting my final scene of Harry Potter.
Tom: It was shot at Leavesden Studios, which has been like a school or university to me – somewhere you spend a lot of time in your formative years. I got quite upset at the thought that it’s all over.
Originally I went for the part of Harry Potter.
Tom: There was a time when I did think Daniel got the part I wanted – but with hindsight, I’m very glad he got it. I’m the luckiest of the group. I had a good part, which became more central later, and yet I had a normal childhood. I was at state school when I got Draco and I never left. I was out for the odd week or two, sometimes a month.
It took me over two years to have a proper conversation with Daniel (Radcliffe).
Tom: I was 13, and he was 11. At that stage of your life that’s dramatic. Bonding with the rest of the cast was complicated, to be honest with you. We were complete unknowns, and we were thrown together. It’s not likely that you’ll all suddenly click and become one happy family. Daniel and I knew we loved The Simpsons, but we never really sat down and talked. Partly because there was a proper age gap.
I have a strange fixation on Helena Bonham Carter.
Tom: That sounds like the wrong word. I’m drawn to her. She’s gorgeous and exceptionally talented in a very unique way. She’s a quiet, lovely lady when you meet her, but roll the cameras and she turns into this berserk psycho witch. You have to remind yourself to stay in character, because you can’t believe you’re watching this.
Let’s be honest: we weren’t picked for Harry Potter for our acting ability – it was because we looked like the characters as they’d been written.
Tom: We started out as rank amateurs, and we’ll be lucky if we’ve learnt something over the past ten years. It’s a question of what we do with that now, where we go from here.
Junket interviews with the cast will begin on Monday to promote Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in London, leading up to Thursday's world premiere. Tom will appear on ITV's Daybreak in the morning, and the cast is set to do a massive round of interviews, including with CBBC, BBC, and many national and international media outlets. We will have more as they are released.
Daniel Radcliffe, who took part in interviews in New York City in late June to promote the final Harry Potter film, chatted with E! Online about the end of the series, and a bit of a spoiler on Ron and Hermione's kiss in Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Do heed with caution as he does give a bit more information about the aforementioned scene in the clip.

"I was actually really pleased," Radcliffe said with a smile. "I was very nervous going in because had I not been pleased then I probably would've been in a downward spiral and I probably wouldn't have been able to enjoy it as much. But thankfully I was just delighted and so proud, and it's a very good film. I do think Alan Rickman gives the film performance of his career in this movie."
And while Radcliffe didn't give away any of the film's surprises, he did touch upon Ron and Hermione's kiss in the movie.
"What's nice is that it's there but it's not lingered on," Radcliffe said. "I'm sure Ron and Hermione will get a big applause from the audience, and they should, they've been waiting long enough to see that happen. But what's lovely is the part after they break up and start laughing, I can see that it's just Rupert and Emma."

The KISS!!! I can't wait! I can't imagine how awkward it must have been between Emma and Rupert seeing as they're such good friends and see each other as family, but anyways... I'm so excited!
Hmmm. Is Draco sexier than Harry??? I don't know what to say. Tom's interview was awesome. I especially love what he said about Helena. She must be amazing to work with. It's nice to hear that he and his girlfriend are still together. And I can't believe he didn't even have a full conversation with Dan for almost two years! Though I completely understand what he's talking about.
Anywho, Awesome interviews!!!

I think the best part of that scene was how Ron expression was like 'Hm... I wouldn't actually mind that let's test that theory out!' xD

I'm really looking forward to seeing Tom's girlfriend in the last movie, that should be interesting!
Haha, the long awaited kiss! I bet it's going to be a good scene, and I do agree with Dan that this particular scene will get a lot of applause from us, the audience.
