[img]http://www.snitchseeker.com/images/news/jkr_80.jpg' align='middle'> Queen invites Rowling to the palace to celebrate - Summary:
Queen Elizabeth II will welcome 200 women including Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling to lunch at Buckingham Palace next month as the world celebrates International Woman's Day.
On March 11, three days after the rest of the world celebrates International Woman's Day, the Queen will host a lunch to honor mothers and working women. Hosting the event with Queen Elizabeth will be her daughter, Princess Anne, as well as Sophie Rhys-Jones, wife of the queen's youngest son Prince Edward.
The spokeswoman stressed that the celebration was not for blueblood and superstars alone.
"It will be the first all-female event at the palace. It's not just well-known people -- there will be lots of businesswomen, women from the arts and education and grassroots people. It's going to be about women and their achievements." Article:

I think it is great that the Queen is not only honoring JKR, but women who worked hard in their lives for their dreams and causes that they believed in. Also, it will show the younger generation of girls that they too, can have a chance to pursue and accomplish what they want in their lives. Congratulations to the Queen to honor these women!

I think the queen is great...she just gets a lot of bad press because the governments wants to get rid of the monarchy...and have a president instead ...wouldn't that just be lovely?

Lol that was what I meant but I refrained from saying it. Let's just say, I know what you mean and I totally agree. I guess you have to British to understand.

I am so glad for JKR! She seems the perfect person to invite over for such an occasion. She is a very strong female figure and a good role model, don't you think? Wonderful choice! That Queen's got a lot of good taste! God save the Queen! JKR deserves it, I think! |
