Why is it Animal Farm? It's not a bad book, that's for sure, but I think 1984 is much better, both in style and metaphysics.
Nice to see the Prisoner up there, though. Not the one I would pick as the best novel of the series, but then again, I'm no literary expert like those who voted for The Da Vinci Code! |

To be fair though (and I'm nothing if not that!), The Da Vinci Code was, to an extent, quite readable. But all-time top five? Come on. I have more trouble figuring out my daily's Sudoku than the clues in that book.
But quite possibly this 2000-people poll conducted on the Internets is not the last word in literary criticism.
[edit]
Or is this about George Orwell? Hm...

I'm very happy that one of the HP books is there, though I'm a bit surprised that it's Prisoner that was chosen and not one of the others.

i was just wondering, with all these greatest novels list, why do they keep lumping LOTR as just one entry and HP as 7 different entries? since HP is a series much like LOTR and Narnia shouldnt they just evaluate JKR's work as a whole and not piecemeal?
