| | Prisoner of Azkaban on EW.com's best kids movie list Entertainment Weekly has chosen Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban as one of their picks for 'The 20 Best Movies for Kids'. Quote: HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN (2004)
Any Harry Potter flick is good for the young ones, but Azkaban, directed by Alfonso Cuarón, is the best of the bunch. Why? Because it concocted, for the first time, a real magic world, and gave those who live in it — Harry, Hermione, Ron, and the lot — real weight as characters. Azkaban's about learning to mind one's temper, keep track of time, and hold on to family, wherever one may find it (even in prison).

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

| Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Prisoner of Azkaban was a sensational film. It comes as no surprise that it's on the list

kids? or kidults?
i dont know how old the kids EW.com had in mind, but i distinctly remember that lots of kids under 10 were terrified of the Dementors. not exactly the type of fare to pop in the DVD player on a saturday afternoon.
the way i see it, the most kid-accessible movie would be PS/SS, since there werent any spiders, snakes or dark ghostly figures to make the kids cry for their parents.

I clicked through the other films on that list, and it's a bit... ambiguous. There are a bunch of classic animated features, but it also includes Lord of the Rings - and I don't think that's a kids' movie at all.

Harry Potter may be in the children's section of the bookstore (as I am so frequently reminded), but if I had any kids under, say, 10, I wouldn't let them watch the movies or read the books. It's too scary sometimes. Giant snakes? Giant spiders? Giant weird ghost things? Nuh-uh.
