| | | OotP set report + cast & crew interviews
ComingSoon.net has posted their Order of the Phoenix set report online, as well as interviews with Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Matthew Lewis, David Barron and Stuart Craig.
To read them all, go to the following links; OotP set report: Quote:
Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) questions: "What if Umbridge finds out?"
But, Hermione isn't concerned: "Who cares? I mean, it's kind of exciting, isn't it? Breaking the rules?"
"Who are you, and what have you done with Hermione Granger?" Ron asks.
"Well, anyway, at least we know one positive thing that came of today," Hermione playfully teases.
Harry: "What's that?"
Hermione: "Cho just couldn't take her eyes off you, could she?"
As the kids walk through to enter Hogwarts, Harry says: "Right. Over the next few days, we should each come up with a couple of possibilities of places we can practice."
Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) interview: Quote: CS: Are your scenes with Umbridge appropriately nasty? Radcliffe: Yes, definitely. They are very, very dark and also very exciting and brilliant. Imelda Staunton is one of the reasons why doing this film has been my favorite. She's just an amazing actress and a really delightful woman. CS: We hear she's really nice so is it hard to have such tension with her? Radcliffe: The thing is, she's also just a fantastic actress, so she can make you hate her within a few seconds really. [She] becomes this very damaged, very unpleasant character. So no, it wasn't really... that part wasn't hard actually.
Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) interview: Quote: CS: You had a scene here where Emma's character smashes you up against the wall. How did you shoot that? Were you on a rig or something? Grint: Yeah (laughs), that was really good to do, funny enough. Whenever we get to do stunts, it's really good. They harnessed me up and basically, what they do, is they get a fat bloke to climb a ladder with a rope attached to a pulley and that sends you back. I didn't realize that's how they did it. That was really good. CS: Have you done a lot of stunts? Grint: Yeah, there's quite a few stunts in that scene but there's more to come really. We've got the Thestral stuff. They're to do a plaster cast of my legs to make this special seat thing for riding the Thestrals. CS: Do you like to do your own stunts? Grint: Depends on what it is really. If it's really dodgy, I'll probably just leave it to the professionals. Whenever we get to do a little thing, it's really great fun. CS: Did you get black and blue? Grint: It does give you a bit of a wedgie when you go back, but apart from that it was fine.
Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) interview: Quote: CS: As the movies progress, do you find that your personality has carried over into your character or vice versa? Watson: Everyone's taking the **** at me because I did really well at my exams. It's been a bit of an ongoing joke the past couple of weeks, but I think it's a compliment. I'd like to think that she's a role model, definitely. I think she rocks. I don't think there's anyone on screen who can compete with her really, female action hero wise.
Quote: CS: In the fourth film, you got to dress up and dance and be girly. Do you have anything in this film? Watson: No, no. She's back. Actually, Jany [Temime] who is head of costume said "This one is Hermione tomboy. She's back to being one of the guys."
Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) interview: Quote: CS: How has working with David Yates help you get into that character? Lewis: David has been fantastic. He really is very, very good. He's had a definite image of the film that he's had for 12 months or more. Every scene, he knows exactly how he wants it and how he wants every single character to play the scene. He'll say, "this is the scene and this is what I'm after. What are your suggestions?" So you'll list off your suggestions and he'll say "OK, that's great, we'll put a little of that in, and maybe a bit of this" and every time he gives me a suggestion, I'm like why didn't I think of that? It's perfect. He really has helped me along. I don't know where it comes from. He would allow me to disagree with him but I just never do, because everything he says is so right. I think it's really going to show in every character.
David Barron (producer) interview: Quote: CS: They're getting old enough now to where they can work a full day and not be restricted by the labor laws correct? Barron: It varies. Some of them are and some of them aren't. It means you can never say oh great, as of next week or next year we can work a complete normal day as on any other film because with some of them you can. But, with the younger members you can't. All ones who think about continuing onto higher education where legally we don't have to give them time for study, but morally we do so they end up working like they were minors still just because they are continuing they're education. So it's an ongoing problem.
Quote: CS: Coming into a huge production like this, it must have been a challenge for Evanna Lynch. Barron: She was brilliant really. She came in and had a high level of confidence in a good way. Having selected her from the DVD, obviously we screen tested her to make sure she wouldn't be paralyzed in front of the camera and Dan was fantastic with her. He was there at the same time. He tested opposite her, he spent time with her before shooting and made her really comfortable. She never looked back.
Stuart Craig (production designer) interview: Quote: CS: The statue in the fountain of the Ministry of Magic, is that an actual statue or will it be CGI? Craig: Well, actually, there's a wizarding family there, there's a witch and a wizard, an ascentor, and a house elf, and a goblin. Four of those are physical and on our sets. The fifth one, the wizard, is in the CG part of the universe. So he is computer generated, the other four characters are real.
Quote: CS: In the book, Harry gets a glimpse of each of the floors of the Ministry. Do we get to see each floor? Craig: As always, in the condensing of the book, there are casualties. We get to see the elevator flashing off, we do see paper airplanes, but we don't actually see the intermediate floors.

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |
