At the
end of last month we told you that work by Mary GrandPré, illustrator of the U.S.
Harry Potter books, would be on display at the
Cedar Rapids Museum of Art in Iowa. We now have more details concerning what you can see there.
- 96 items are on display, 38 of which come from the world of
Harry Potter.
- 20 sketches done for Warner Brothers in '04 & '05 are also on display for scenes from books 1 - 5.
- There is also a colour picture of Harry, Ron & Hermione from the first book, during the chess scene.
- Cover sketches for books 1, 6 & 7 can be seen - including some which didn't make the final cut.
- This includes a version of book 1 with the original title
Harry Potter and the School of Magic.
- Finally also on display are pencil sketches from the
Tales of Beedle the Bard and art from future collector's editions of the
Harry Potter books.
The display, which is free for children, will remain open until February 5th next year. If anyone manages to go, please
send your photos in to us!
