| | |  Happy birthday, Chris Columbus!
Today, Friday September 10th, marks director Chris Columbus' 52nd birthday! Chris was the first director of the Harry Potter film series, helming the first two features, Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. He went on to produce Prisoner of Azkaban (which, of course, went to Alfonso Cuaron), but opted out of directing it, due to sheer exhaustion from having made the first two.
Chris, a director well-known for working great with children, headed several other films throughout his decades-long career, including the first two Home Alone movies, Mrs. Doubtfire, Nine Months, and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.  Happy Birthday, Chris!  | |

Happy Birthday to the one director who was able to adapt the magic of the series onscreen and kickstart the franchise to where it is today. In terms of Harry Potter, films, the film franchise would be nothing without your efforts and your special skills when it comes to working with young kids.  I loved Home Alone, and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Happy Birthday Mr. Columbus! After hearing all those rumors about a CGI Harry Potter movie, a Harry Potter movie that combined the first three books together with just the action parts, and a Harry Potter movie set in New York starring Haley Joel Osment, I am SO glad you started this thing off right, setting a high standard for your successors to follow. Thanks especially for picking out Stuart Craig as production designer, John Williams as music composer, and every single original cast member. I can't imagine this series looking better, sounding better, or being better acted. Gracias mucho.
