* Save The Dursleys! - The Dursleys are cut from film four

Summary:
The film of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire looks like it will be a Dursley-free zone, with none of Harry's family featuring in the fourth movie.
Actor Richard Griffiths' agent told Newsround Online that Richard was "very disappointed" not to be appearing as Uncle Vernon in the film.

Griffiths also told a newspaper that he was hoping for a fans' revolt.

He said he'd even asked JK Rowling to try and get his character re-instated, but the fourth book is very long.

Griffiths is reported as saying "I said to JK Rowling: "Couldn't the Dursleys turn up to an open day at Harry's school or something,' but she said, 'I don't think so'."

The book of The Goblet of Fire is so long that there as no way that the filmmakers could fit everything into the movie.

It now looks as if the action will start at The Burrow or the Quidditch World Cup.

Although he says he won't be in this film, Richard Griffith says he's hoping to be back for Order of the Phoenix.

--------------
Ananova are also reporting the same thing.

Quote:
Griffiths told a British tabloid: "Filming had already started on the fourth and Fiona and I asked the producers 'Are we in it?' and they said: 'Oh, did no one tell you?'
--------------

I have made a petition to try and get him back in. Please sign! http://www.petitiononline.com/dursley/petition.html

They can't cut the Dursleys! I like most everyone else was looking forward to that whole scene when the Weasleys come to pick up Harry via Floo powder! That's the best part of Harry's summer!

Hey all! If you haven't signed a petition yet, be sure to do so! Looks like Durlsey petitions are popping up everywhere! There are 6 petitions in existance right now! The two with the most signatures are below! I don't know what impact we can make with this but it is worth a try! Spread the word and keep the Dursley campaign going!!!

Save the Dursleys!

Sign for Dursley Family return to Goblet of Fire

Later! B)

Yeah, it would have been great, but the movie needs to be a certain length and the Dursleys weren't nearly as important as Ludo Bagman, Winky, Dobby, Rita Skeeter Beetle, Barty Crouch Jr. info, ect.

Well, I signed, but since the movie is already out, I don't know if it is going to change anything. I saw the movie and was somewhat disapointed, but the producers had to decide what was most important--afterall, they couldn't put everything in. I wish they would have decided to divide the movie into two films. Maybe then they could have gotten everything in.

I will sign!!!! They make the movie funnier! I hate them too but that's no reason to cut them out of the movie make the task's shorter. There's a lot of scenes in the movie that look like they could be shorter.

i think that it was verybad to have left out the dursleys because tehy make the movie somewhat funny with their stereotypical "perfect family" ways. and i love it when uncle vernon get angry and his face gets all red like a tomato! hahaha and can anyone please tell me ow i can get into the members group?

I have signed! And I can promise you all my Harry Potter friends will sign. That make me so mad! If they didnt make up their own scenes they would have enough time to put the Dursleys in. You can't just throw them out of the movie!! aaaaahhhhhhhh I bet alot of HP fans are mad! When I saw that they werent in the movie I didn't know that they were just thrown out like that!
