| | | Dumbledore to rid the world of birthdays and Notting Hill
According to Veritaserum reader, Mim, Michael Gambon (Dumbledore) was on "Room 101" in the UK on BBC 2 yesterday evening. Paul Merton hosted the chat show, and the guests were given the opportunity to rid the world of the things they hate. Gambon suggested birthdays and Notting Hill.

he did indeed try to get rid of birthdays, london busses between 10-3, nottinghill and too many stories on education in the papers. Paul put in london busses, education and nottinghill, but gave Michael a present, so he kept that and birthdays out of Room 101!

Lol ye ture, even back here stories on Education in the papers drive me nuts, there's always something like "Exam stress" or "Sex Education in Schools" or "Is your child playing truant?" you know I wish the Daily Prophet was real! Bet there's no critising Hogwarts there!

^lol! yeah, just critisising Harry! tho i reckon the news in the daily prophet would be far more exciting!
The newspapers here don't seem to understand that even though they report these things, the govt. are rubbish and wont do anything!

| I would sometimes watch it if it is on but my favourite is Have I got News For You but Room 101 can be good sometimes also.I was watching it a couple of weeks ago and they had Shane Ritche on it. I should of watched it recently to see the Micheal Gambon one. I can see why he hates birthdays cause in some ways i hate them too even my own. I hate giving presents to other people and for some reason on your birthday relatives give you rubbish presents like stupid jumpers with a horrible design on the and that are 2 sizes too short for you and stuff like that. Even the cards can look a bit cheap. The only presents i like on my birthday are the ones from my parents cause i can choose them. I make them out to be expensive too. And being sang Happy Birthday aint exactly great either. Maybe he doesnt like birthdays cause it reminds you that you are getting older. On Education, it drives me mad also. They report about things that arent even a big problem. Sex education..blah..blah..blah. If they care so much why dont they do something about it. Sex education is better now than it was 30 years ago. Exam stress is a problem cause more students want to succed more than what they did 30 years ago and truancy is a problem the teachers drive us mad. But i've never played truant myself. This catagory falls on the stereotypical teeenager trait which i hate, they see education as a big problem cause they see teenagers as a big problem and are blamed for all of sociaties flaws. Ok i'm starting to blabble so i'll stop and not bore you any more. |

When you get to a certain age, you start hating birthdays, makes you feel older. I bet that's why he'd get rid of them!

I'm not keen on people singing happy birthday to me, i go bright crimson and find somewhere to hide sharpish, when i was younger i would sit under the table, with my hands on my ears and cry until they were quiet. no idea why is disturbs me so much tho...... i don't mind to much when its sung to me in Welsh, i don't tend to cry, but i def hide still *whimper*

I watched this episode and found Micheal Gambon very funny with a very cheeky sense of humour, I especially liked the bit about when he was in the 'Whistling Detective'. Also the bit about him tying his beard on top of his head when he played Dumbledore, in order to eat his dinner, was hilarious! I like him.
