Bloomsbury, U.K. publishers of the Harry Potter books, today announced a new look for the seven titles in the series. Illustrated by Clare Melinsky, the new ‘Signature’ look was created to appeal to the next generation of readers. Quote:
Clare Melinsky commented, ‘I was delighted and excited to be asked to illustrate the covers for such massively famous books – and seven of them! It was top secret for the best part of a year.’

Wow! They're really cool looking! They sort of remind me of one edition of the Narnia books  It makes them look older, but at the same time for younger readers.

I'd have to agree on the COS one...
But I beg to differ with most of you Fans...I think this is the stupidest thing Bloomsbury has ever done! I will not get a set...they are just ruining the books...can't they leave them like they are? Clearly they think you're loosing fans if they keep re-inventing everything...The fans aren't getting bored of the books so stop trying to redo everything just to hold fan. If they true fans they won't go anywhere! Bloomsbury = Stupid!

Might buy a collection of hard back for my shelfs. I LOVE the PoA and DH ones. But I agree with Looneybird to a point to the fact that ours are better but also daffodilical where these look like the Classic books that will be around in many generations times.

Wow they look really good in my opinion. Cant replace the originals obviously but i'd consider buying a set. And for those complaining about the logo, this is Bloomsbury who did the UK books. The famous logo used on the US books and the films was never used on the UK editions, so i like this new logo

I'm not really sure why they need new covers? They look nice, but do the books really need new covers? Most people who a big Harry Potter fans already own all seven books. I do, and I really don't want to buy a whole new set just for a different cover....just a thought.

Hmm. I do like them, and I will most likely end up buying the set with birthday money, but I definitely prefer the original over this version. Perhaps because I don't cope with change at ALL, but I think the original ones are just so epic.

I like the original a lot better. These new covers hurt my eyes. It feels so not Harry Potterish and it certainly wouldn't capture my attention if I were to look in the book store. I don't know why but for some reason I don't like the childish Harry Potter arts or video games. It just makes it seem like a story you would read to a five year old and not mature enough which is not the case. But again that's just my opinion.
