Amazon have announced that as of March 31st, 2005, 700,000 copies of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince were pre-ordered through their website. Quote:
The Company has received 700,000 pre-orders for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the sixth book in J.K. Rowling's epic Harry Potter series. Amazon.com is offering its U.S. customers guaranteed delivery of the book on the release date, Saturday, July 16, 2005, for the same price as standard shipping, with free delivery for Amazon Prime members.

Think about it: It's only Amazon that has announced this! Barnes & Noble and loads of other places have had pre-orders as well! And this is only through their website! Hundreds of people pre-order it at the book store! And this is only as of March 31! They've had a bunch more pre-orders by now! Wow!!

I just re-read that National Geographic article, and GoF apparently had over 5 million pre-orders from around the globe! Wonder how HBP will compare?
