Let the Rain Come Down

Time Period: Post HBP

Characters: Most of the major characters from the Harry Potter series.

Summary: My story begins after Harry’s sixth year, and in the style of J.K. Rowling, covers his seventh year. Voldemort has been defeated prior to the beginning of the story, however various other threats arise. Harry experiences flashbacks that clue us into what happened leading up to and the final battle. We meet not only Dumbledore, but also Harry’s parents and Sirius.

When I began this story, it was purely a list of questions that I had and hoped would be answered. I began speculating on possible outcomes and scenarios. This story is a compilation of theories that I have gathered throughout the years while reading the Harry Potter series. These are some possible answers to many of the questions that I have asked. This is, in essence, my musings all wrapped up into to one, hopefully enjoyable, reading experience.

Disclaimer: All characters, places, and events are property of J. K. Rowling, the esteemed author of the Harry Potter series. This story is not for profit, but merely for my (and hopefully other’s) pleasure and a means to an end to allow me to concentrate on other things (instead of just Harry Potter

).

AN: This is my first fan fiction and my first real story that I have allowed other people to read. I love constructive criticism and would be most appreciative to any advice that anyone has to help improve my writing.

While I have tried to stay canon with my story, some parts have non-canon ideas in order to make the story flow the way I wanted. I have tried to stay strictly canon with information leading of to HBP, however the future may or may not be canon based. For this I apologize, but hope you enjoy my story none the less.

One more quick note, I am posting this fic on another website, under the same pseudonym, just a quick let know.

Prologue

He awoke suddenly out of a restless sleep. It had happened again. He sat up and drew his knees up to his chest, completely drenched in sweat. He tried to push the remnants of the dream out of his mind as he blindly looked around the room, his eyes unaccustomed to the darkness. Still gasping for air, he tightly shut his eyes in attempts to keep the tears running down his face at bay. Leaning his head back against the wall, he struggled to control the rush of emotions tearing through him.

It had been a week since the last battle where he had battled with Lord Voldemort and against all odds, won. A week since he had destroyed Lord Voldemort’s wand…just in case.

He heard frantic footsteps running down the hall and his door slammed open. “Are you ok honey?” a woman’s worried voice asked him.

A second voice asked from the doorway, “It happened again, didn’t it Harry? When will these nightmares stop?”

"It’s only been a week, James.” The woman chided in hushed tones.

Until this point he hadn’t even realized that he had screamed.

It had been a week since he discovered the true power and meaning of Priori Incantatem

Harry opened his eyes, and tried to smile into the eyes identical to his own, “I’m ok now, Mum. Sorry to wake you, Dad.”

“Nonsense!” dismissed his mother, “You father is just grouchy; he stayed up far too late last night.” Although her voice was sounded stern, she had a twinkle in her eyes and barely repressed her giggle.

Harry rolled his eyes and putting on his glasses, looked at the clock., “6:00am,” he thought, “might as well get up, no use trying to get more sleep.”

As he got dressed he was unable to keep his mind from taking him back.

Yup they did. They fixed it so now it is working wonderfully! I do wear Contacts, which is funny because I really do not like anything in my eyes either. I am the same way if someone else tries to put anything in my eyes I freak out. And yes I have seen that episode, I love Friends! I was so sad when they stopped the show. I will post a long one tomorrow, I have a project I have to work on tonight!

Are you always in Nevada or are you visiting Nevada? If so, you are only one state away!

However, Cali is a big state, so that is not really saying much

You are right it was Friday the 13th, which I so wonderfully noticed after I was already at work. My day went surprisingly while all things considered, except the fact that my co-worker found out she has strep throat, which is bad because I get am very susceptible to it. But she caught it in the beginning stages and isn't contagious.

However, today made up for yesterdays lack of bad luck. This morning I had to take my room-mates dog to the groomer and then take my cat and hers to the vet. Which both started at 9am so I had to drop off the dog earlier and then run to the vet. The groomer was late, so I was so flustered that I left my purse in the car...the car that had both cats...that held my purse....that had my keys in it!

I had to take her animals today because she had to go out of town, and had to leave at 8:30 this morning. When I called her to have her bring my spare keys she was already on the road and had to turn around and go back. I felt so horrible. The cats were so angry, as was I since it was cold and rainy!

I hope everyone else had a better Friday the 13th, or in my case, day after Friday the 13th.

Im so sorry you had a bad Friday the 13th.

Mine was great! Like I said ,I went to the movies with my friends, and my friend's brother also came...who I also have a huge crush on... *sighs dreamily* I hope your having a better day today, I also hope you post more ssssssssssssoooooooooonnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

That sounds like lots of fun! I haven't been to a movie in quite a while, although I have been renting movies like crazy (Blockbuster Total Access is awesome!) It is a Monday and still to early to see if I will be having a better day

but chances are, probably not.

I'm sorry I have been so negligent on posting parts of my story lately

I had every intention on posting yesterday before I started some essays. I double checked my syllabus before getting started and discovered that the project that I thought was due next week is actually due today

so I was working on that yesterday. I also realized that Sharpies and not permanent on glossy white erase paper (the paper, not the boards) so the whole foundation of my groups project no longer works

Oh well, what can you do?

So due to my probable depression from my group shunning me tonight, I will post now, so you don't have to suffer as well

AN: This is only part of chapter 36, sorry it is short

Chapter 36: The Mauraders

“So what did you talk about with your Mum?” Harry asked, trying not to sound too curious.

Sirius shot Harry an amused look before saying, “Oh a little of this, a little of that.”

Harry rolled his eyes, knowing that Sirius was goading him. Seeing nothing left for it he stopped walking, and turned towards his Godfather saying, “Come on Sirius, why did you want to talk to her?”

Sirius simple laughed, “It really isn’t important! But since you seem to really want to know, I basically just told her she could stop fretting over the death of her favorite son; that I was back and here to stay for a very long time.”

Harry looked at his Godfather in disbelief, “So basically you were just gloating?” He shook his head, chuckling softly.

“Pretty much!” Sirius said cheerfully as he continued down the hallway. “I also told her that it was out of respect for your decision and level headedness that she is still even in this house. I told her that if it were up to me, she would have been gone the second I got back and basically that she is on borrowed time.”

“But it is up to you, Sirius. This house belongs to you.”

“I know, but you made a deal with her, and call me sentimental, but I just don’t feel right about breaking it, at least at the moment.” His eyes twinkled and he winked at Harry as he continued on.

Sirius was leading Harry down a hallway, that although was spotless, Harry had never been down.

Sirius stopped suddenly and looking around to make sure they hadn’t been followed quickly pulled a lever disguised as a sconce, and ducked into the small opening that appeared.

Harry quickly followed suit. The room they were in was pitch black, and Harry, feeling a sense of anxiety and claustrophobia swelling up, was about to say something to Sirius when the room lit up.

The room they had entered was not actually a room, but a long hallway, Harry realized as he approached where Sirius was standing. He could feel Sirius searching his face to judge his reaction. Harry hoped that he was effectively masking the panic he had felt just moments before.

There was on torch lit on the wall and Harry wondered why Sirius did not grab it for light as he followed, somewhat reluctantly in Sirius’ wake.

As they approached each torch however, it lit on its own accord Harry realized, and then slowly went back out, plunging the path behind them into as deep of darkness as the path in front of them.

Both were silent as they traversed down the long straight path, and Harry, who had been following closely behind Sirius, nearly ran into him when he suddenly stopped.

The were standing in front of a brick wall that held a very large, thick steel door, not unlike the bank vault doors Harry had seen in the muggle banks on the few occasions the Dursley’s had allowed him to go anywhere with them.

“You must promise never to relate what you are about to see or hear when you step through this door. Do you so promise?” Sirius had a look of utmost seriousness on his face.

“Of course.” Harry said, confused as to what was happening.

Sirius began to tap a sequence of bricks surrounding the door. As he touched the last brick, Harry could her clanging and banging coming from the inside of the door as the massive locks unlocked themselves. The door opened slowly with a rusty sounding groan as if it had not been opened in decades.

“Remember your promise.” Sirius whispered cryptically as walked through the door.

Harry followed slowly, unable to see what was in the room. The door slammed with a bang just after he managed to squeeze through, causing him to jump.

“Jumpy much aren’t we?” A voice asked him from the darkness.

“What’s going on here?” Harry called out, dismayed by how small his voice sounded. He cleared his throat. “Sirius, where are you?”

“A brave façade.” Another voice answered, “Unwilling to show his enemies how scared he really is; admirable.”

“What is going on here?” Harry demanded, in his strongest voice possible. This time he was pleased to hear it sounded much stronger than he felt.

“Listen to him, giving orders.” A third voice chimed in, “I almost believed him that time.” The voice laughed.

The lights flashed on so brightly that Harry staggered back, putting his hand over his eyes to protect them from the light.

Slowly he lowered his hand as the lights dimmed. He could see three figures sitting in front of him.

“What is going on here?” He again asked, not as forcefully as the figures of his father, Lupin and Sirius came in to view.

Sorry it is a cliffie, that seemed like a good place to end, and I have to think about how I want this next part to go. I already have the idea developed, it is just a matter of finessing it on paper

I finished my project for my English class (one of them anyway

I am typing, trying to get it all up and ready to post, there are a few things I am not happy with. I am swamped at work, one of my co-workers are out of the office, so everything gets put on me, but I will try my hardest. to get it on! I won't be home to get on till after 5:pm my time, which if I did the calculations correctly is after 1:am your time

I really did, I thought about making a twist that Sirius was really corrupted and that one of those yucky beast creatures had snuck out with him, and the group didn't realize it till the went into the memory of the ministry of magic, but I decided against it, and it would only be a minor pointless plot twist in the bigger picture. Plus I was afraid of you all getting so mad that I had hurt Sirius that you would throw stinky cabbage at my thread

SO yup, decided against that one....or did I...

just kidding, I wouldn't do that to you

I actually did have it all written up and ready to go, but I was thinking about and realized that it would make the story significantly longer for no real purpose.

AN: Sorry this took me so long to get done guys, but I had to work out a few kinks. I am posting the last part of the last chapter. I had to change some things, and I have another chapter, but I have to change that also. I realized that I killed the same people 3 and 4 times!

Sorry about myself

And without further ado.....

“We are the Marauders.” Harry’s father spoke slowly, with emphasis. He wore a stark expression, the glimmer of amusement gone from his eyes.

“We have brought you here to join with us,” Sirius spoke up, “There is much that we can teach you, much that you need to learn.” He to showed no sign of a smile.

“Welcome, to our Secret Underground Lair.” Although Lupin also spoke solemnly, after a moment, the other two men burst into laughter.

“Underground Lair?”

“What is wrong with you?”

“You’ve been watching too many muggle movies.”

The façade of seriousness was now completely gone as Harry watched his father and Sirius gang up on Lupin, in a mock fight.

Harry laughed as he watched, the years and the pain seeming to melt off of each of the men, for a moment, Harry could see the carefree boys they had once been.

He sat down in one of the chairs, the laughter seemingly dried up in him.

It took several moments for the men to realize that not only had Harry not joined in, but that a cloud of depression hung over the boy.

“We created this group, this image for ourselves to escape the harshness of life, to forget, if even for a moment the troubles that everyone knew would come.” Lupin had come up and was kneeling in front of Harry.

“We knew that something was coming, even when we were still in school, there were the beginnings of talks, rumors of horrible things occurring. We knew then it wasn’t if, it was when.” Sirius added

“I thought you did this for Lupin?” Harry asked.

“No, no!” James laughed, “We became Animagus’ for him, but we had created The Marauders long before that.”

“Oh.” Harry said softly, looking at the ground, “Well, why have you brought me here? I can’t take Peter’s place, you know.” He looked up at the group.

“We aren’t asking you to.” James said simply.

“We want you to have your own place, but what The Marauders were, they don’t exist anymore, but in our memory and in our hearts.” James placed his hand over his heart, while Sirius rolled his eyes.

“You weren’t when then.” Sirius said bluntly.

“But that doesn’t mean we can’t do new things, teach you knew things.” Lupin added smiling. “We brought you down here to begin training to become and animagus. “

“We have decided it would be in your best interest to do this, for your….protection.” Sirius said, grinning mischievously.

James snorted in the background.

“You will meet with one of us three times a week, always a different one of us, but always down here. We figure that the less people who know, the better.” Lupin said firmly.

“Plus, there are Ministry People up there, and becoming registered might defeat the purpose, don’t you think?” Sirius asked, brushing a piece of lint off of his arm, unable to hide the wicked gleam in his eyes.

“You didn’t hear this from us…” James added in a conspiratory tone, looking around as if someone could over hear them. “But they are going to start up your Occlumency training again, Snape is just too good. We are therefore willing to work around that schedule in order to maintain our level of secrecy.”

Harry laughed, “I don’t want to know how you found that out! You are worse than the twins!”

“I’m not sure about that.” James said, respect in his eyes, “maybe we should bring them into this as well.” He pondered.

“Ron and Hermione could benefit from this also, as could Ginny.” Harry quietly added, looking at the far wall, therefore missing the exchange of looks from the three men.

“It’s settled then, tonight at 2:am, bring Ron, Hermione and Ginny here, we will talk to the Twins.” James said nodding in pleasure.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if those twins have already figured it out.” Sirius said, rubbing his chin.

Lupin laughed, “You might be right Sirius, in that case they could be some help to us too!”

The group made their way to the door, preparing to leave, “Next time, we will show you what this place really looks like Harry.” Sirius laughed as he opened the door.

His laughter died abruptly in his throat. Standing in the hallway were Minerva and Moody.
