Content Ratings
The following ratings used on site are to indicate the level and intensity of a work's content and help members determine if it is suitable for them: General (G), Teen+ (T), Mature (M), and Explicit (E). SnitchSeeker operates first at a General (G) rating across the site. Content at other rating levels is allowed under creative writing, role-playing, and discussion contexts and within clearly defined boundaries.

SnitchSeeker's content rating system is adapted from the Archive of Our Own (AO3) rating model. Examples provided for each rating are drawn from the Harry Potter/Wizarding World franchise.

Triggering Content
SnitchSeeker operates first and foremost as a General (G)-rated community, designed to be welcoming and accessible to members of all ages. However, content that is potentially triggering is allowed under creative writing, role-playing, and discussion contexts and within clearly defined boundaries. Threads and posts that may include potentially triggering content are closely moderated to ensure they remain appropriate, contextual, and responsibly handled.

Writing pieces in Honeydukes (Creative Writing), role-plays in St. Mungo's (Role-Playing), and discussions in the Leaky Cauldron (Discussion Lounge) forums may reference or explore these topics only within permitted boundaries. Members are expected to familiarize themselves with the content rating guidelines and ensure their content stays within the defined boundaries.

All SnitchSeeker RPGs operate first at a General (G) rating. SSRPG threads that may contain content at a Teen+ (T) rating will be specified in the thread description.

Inappropriate Content
SnitchSeeker operates first and foremost as a General (G)-rated community, designed to be welcoming and accessible to members of all ages. Below are pieces of content considered inappropriate in any form across all areas of the site:
  • Drugs/Alcohol: Discussion or depiction of illegal drug use, substance abuse glorification, or underage drinking is not permitted. This includes promoting or encouraging the use of illegal substances, portraying drug use in a celebratory or glamorized manner, sharing instructions or advice related to obtaining or using drugs/alcohol, or depicting characters engaging in substance abuse as a central or glorified element of a story or discussion.

  • Politics: Real-world political debates, campaigning, or partisan arguments are not permitted. This includes promoting or criticizing specific political parties, candidates, or public officials; advocating for or against real-world political laws, policies, or elections; sharing political materials/manifesto/propaganda, slogans, or fundraising efforts; or engaging in debates about contemporary political issues. Discussions intended to persuade others about political viewpoints, organize political action, or provoke political conflict are also prohibited.

  • Religion: Real-world religious debates, preaching, or attempts to convert others are not permitted. This includes promoting or criticizing specific religions, encouraging others to adopt or reject a particular faith, sharing sermons or devotional messages directed at members, or engaging in arguments about religious beliefs, doctrines, or institutions.

  • Self-Harm: Explicit discussion, graphic depictions, or instructional content related to self-harm are not permitted anywhere on the site. This includes detailed descriptions of self-harm or suicide, portrayals of methods, encouragement or glorification of self-injury, or content that could be interpreted as providing guidance or instructions for harming oneself. Graphic imagery, writing, or role-play scenarios that centre on self-harm are also prohibited.

  • Sexuality: Explicit sexual content is not permitted. This includes graphic sexual descriptions, explicit sexual role-play, pornography, or content intended to arouse. Detailed depictions of sexual acts, explicit sexual dialogue, or sexually graphic imagery are not allowed. Sexual content involving minors in any form is strictly prohibited.

  • Violence: Extreme graphic violence, torture, or gore are not permitted. Content that dwells on violent suffering or depicts violence in an excessively graphic or sensationalized manner is not appropriate for the site and will be removed. Discussion or depiction of real-world weapons is not allowed; images, graphics, or descriptions centred on real-world weapons are prohibited. However, weapons that exist within the Wizarding World (such as wands or magical artifacts) may be referenced within appropriate contexts.

Inappropriate Language
SnitchSeeker uses an automatic word censor to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment across all areas of the site. If a word in your post is replaced with asterisks (*), it means the censor has been triggered. When this happens, you must edit your post immediately. Failure to edit the content will result in a warning or site infraction, and posts that leave censored language in place will be removed.

Attempting to defeat the censor is not permitted. This includes altering spellings, replacing letters with symbols, spacing out letters, or using other creative substitutions to disguise censored language. Any attempts to bypass the filter will be treated as a rule violation and may result in moderation action.

Please note that not all words that may be used as curse words are automatically censored. Words such as "hell" or "damn" may appear on site and are generally acceptable when used casually. Words present in the Potter books and movies, such as "arse," "bitch," and "tosser," are permitted under creative writing contexts with a specified rating and appropriate trigger warning. Excessive use of borderline language may result in posts being edited or removed.

Additionally, using any language (censored or not) in a way that is hostile, insulting, or directed at another member is not allowed. Derogatory, vulgar, or discriminatory language (including certain slang terms) is not permitted anywhere on the site, especially when directed at another member.

Languages Other Than English
The primary language used on SnitchSeeker is English. To ensure that all members, who come from various locations around the globe, can easily engage with each other in the forums, please write in English.

Currently, SnitchSeeker does not have a designated space for posting completely in non-English languages. However, short phrases in another language are permitted if a clear translation is included within the post. It is also acceptable to reference titles of works (such as books, films, or songs) in another language, as long as those titles are not offensive and do not violate SnitchSeeker rules.

Breaking rules in a foreign language is breaking multiple rules. A warning or infraction will be given for the foreign language violation in addition to any other rules that have been broken.

Images & Graphics
Image Hosting

Hotlinking, also known as "direct linking" or "bandwidth theft," is not permitted on SnitchSeeker. Hotlinking occurs when an image is embedded using another website's server rather than your own image-hosting account. This uses another site's bandwidth without permission and can cause images to break or disappear over time.

All images shared on SnitchSeeker—including avatars, signatures, graphics in threads, and reference images—must be uploaded to your own image-hosting account and embedded using the links provided by that service. Recommended free hosting services include: postimages, Lensdump, and imgpile. Other services (such as Imgur) may also be used, provided the images are uploaded to your own account.

Size Regulations

All images and graphics shared in threads, worn by members, or created for others must remain within specific size limits. The following are the maximum size regulations; smaller sizes are always welcome and encouraged:
  • Avatars: maximum dimensions: 100×100 pixels; maximum file size: 20 KB
  • Signatures/Banners/Headers: maximum dimensions: 450×200 pixels; maximum file size: 60 KB; maximum of 3 images
  • Profile Pictures/Biography Images: maximum dimensions: 350×350 pixels; maximum file size: 60 KB
  • GIFs: maximum dimensions: 350×350 pixels; maximum file size: 60 KB
Graphics must comply with all SnitchSeeker rules and size limits. Furthermore, using someone else’s work and presenting it as your own is not permitted. Graphics must be your own creation or used with permission from and credit to the creator.

Members who upload images or graphics that do not comply with these rules may have the content removed. Depending on the severity of the violation, warnings or infractions may also be issued.

Large Images in Threads

Images and graphics shared in Gladrags Wizardwear (Visual Arts) and other site areas may exceed the typical size regulations for viewing purposes. When posting larger images, please place them inside a photocut to keep threads readable and prevent excessive scrolling or page stretching.

AI Usage
AI tools are becoming increasingly common in creative spaces, and SnitchSeeker recognizes that they can serve as helpful support tools when used thoughtfully and transparently. At the same time, SnitchSeeker values personal creativity, skill development, and original work. Because of this, the usage of AI should remain limited and must always be clearly disclosed.

Specific guidelines regarding AI usage are currently being developed by site leadership and will be added here once finalized.

Plagiarism
Plagiarism is theft and is not tolerated on SnitchSeeker. Plagiarism occurs when you present another person's words, ideas, or creative concepts as your own without providing clear and proper credit. This includes copying or closely paraphrasing text and submitting work created by someone else, whether human or AI, as if it were your own.

If you incorporate any portion of another work into your posts, even in small amounts, you must clearly acknowledge the original source. This applies to, but is not limited to, quotes, song lyrics, excerpts from published works, fan-created content, graphics, and distinctive ideas or interpretations created by someone else. Credit should be visible within the post itself (such as an author's note or end note) or should clearly identify the creator (such as the "Image Acknowledgements" profile field). When in doubt, always err on the side of transparency and give credit to the original source/creator.

Direct Messaging
All site rules for public forum posts also apply to direct messages (such as private messages, visitor messages, and usernotes). Members are expected to communicate respectfully in all areas of the site. This means no harassment, abuse, profanity directed at other members, or inappropriate/lewd behaviour in direct messages. A good rule of thumb is this: if you would not feel comfortable saying something in a public forum, it likely does not belong in a direct message either.

Harassing, threatening, or repeatedly contacting another member after being asked to stop is not acceptable. Members who misuse direct message methods to target or intimidate others may face warnings, infractions, or further disciplinary action. If you receive a concerning or inappropriate message, please forward the message to a moderator or administrator so the situation can be promptly handled.

Advertising & Solicitation
SnitchSeeker may not be used as a platform to sell goods or services, solicit donations, or promote commercial activity to our members without prior explicit approval from the site leadership team. If site leadership determine that a link is being used for advertising or solicitation purposes, the post or message will be removed and a warning or infraction may be issued.

Posting advertisements or promotional messages within forum threads is not permitted, and members may not use the site to pressure or repeatedly encourage others to visit external sites or services. Advertising or solicitation through direct messages (private messages, visitor messages, or usernotes) is also prohibited. Links may be shared privately only when another member specifically asks for them or when they are clearly relevant to a discussion.

If you wish to share or promote another website (such as role-play communities, personal blogs, streaming or vlogging channels, online shops, message boards, or similar platforms) you may do so only through links placed in your forum signature or in the "homepage" field of your profile. Any website promoted in this manner must comply with SnitchSeeker's site rules.

Spam
Spam is not permitted anywhere on the boards. This includes posting multiple messages in a row unnecessarily or posting meaningless, repetitive, or unrelated content within at least one thread. Consistent spamming or disruptive posting behaviour will result in posts being removed and, if necessary, further moderation action.

Examples of spam include posting the same message across multiple threads, making low-effort posts that do not add to the conversation (such as single-word replies, emoji-only responses, and random strings of letters/numbers), or derailing a thread with unrelated commentary or images/graphics. Posting advertisements or unsolicited promotional material is also considered a form of spam.
