Miranda grew cold under the professor's gaze.... Ooops. She was irking him... Not a good thing.Humbling herself in his class yet again... or should we say as usual Miranda thought upon his question to the class....Hmmmm... Yeah... It was better to listen then sound a fool again in front of the entire class.

He was excited to get to this part of the lesson and he had glanced to his nephew Benton. He was paying attention to this part wasn't he? This was a lesson he knew he'd love. As he walked around the room Julien stopped at every pit and placed two of the smaller plastic balls into them. Each pit got two before he walked to the next one.




A few students lifted their hands and said Geminio, which of course was correct. He nodded. "Geminio is the duplication spell. It is actually considered a curse and a charm. The charm is to duplicate things that you want two or more things of. It becomes a curse when you are doing it to confuse someone or trick them into not being able to find the correct object."



He looked to Jaemin and nodded, "Augeo would work very well for this. As soon as you touch the ball with that it would enlarge to the size we need." Very good answer and he looked pleased at Jaemin before turning his attention to another.



"Engorgio would be another that could enlarge the balls. Egnorgio is considered to engorge something, but it works just the same on the balls. Both charms will enlarge the object to the needed size." Very good. He was glad they put their smart caps on today.

The staring was happening. He was staring at the lion for a few minutes. "Yes I think I did get a raw deal if I would have bought these empty, but I didn't. These I've had for awhile so the balls have either just cracked or gotten lost by children." His own children, his nieces and nephews, and his students had all used these pits for different reasons.


"All part of my plan Rooney... all part of my plan. " Tapping a finger to his head he turned back to the class.

"Now a few of you said Geminio for duplicating which you are right. Now the wand movement for that is just a flick a the target." With one of the balls in the pit near Rooney he flicked his wand, "Geminio" and watched a second ball looking just as the first appeared. "It's a pretty simple charm that everyone should be able to do." He had faith in everyone here and honestly the ones that decided they were too good for class, well he was getting to the point of maybe it was better this way.


"For the enlarging of the balls, you will want to use either Augeo or engorgio. If you are using engorgio you want to be careful not to blow the ball up. If you engorge it too much it will. The wand movement is a little line then almost a full circle and line again." He demonstrated on the ball he had just duplicated the ball became bigger. "Now if you are going to use Augeo the wand movement is a circle against the target." Taking his wand he made the circle "Augeo" Watching the second ball get bigger he smiled and with one wand movement he made the one ball disappear and the other back to the original small size.

"Now for fifteen minutes you are going to work in your ball pits and resize the balls and duplicate them until the pit is full. I will let you know when time is up. You may begin."



ooc: for this activity you do not have to work as a group if you don't want to, but clear can as well. At least make three posts with duplicating and enlarging so it seems like the pits are getting full. You of course can make more posts if you would like. As always please HAVE FUN!

Juno's words made Esme feel like she could faint at any moment. What was her sister talking about? Was something wrong with her? It was too much to deal with and she didn't think she could do that right now. It was a little hard to breathe and she needed to get her bearings. "I... can't deal with this right now..."

Instead she was going to force herself to try and follow along with the lesson. Which apparently involved blowing bubbles? Suddenly what Oliver had been doing made a lot more sense.

Watching her sister, she swished her wand while saying "Bulla!" watching as bubbles emerged and floated off. She sent some towards Juno, Oliver, and Echo in turn, happy for the fact that there was something to occupy her mind from dealing with the fact that she had been out of it for about three weeks. "Bubbles never get old! They are so much fun." She could remember blowing them outside with her sister when they were younger though of course they had done it the muggle way. Maybe they could do that again at some point this summer...

Professor Primeaux was calling for their attention and Esme wasn't feeling like answering a question so she remained silent instead. The activity didn't seem too hard and it would provide a further distraction. It was win win for her.

His bubbles had really worked!! Oliver genuinely couldn't believe he had woken Esme up from her weird Zombie!trance thing. He beamed at the twins and blew on the tip of his wand, kind of the way James Bond or someone would after doing something cool. 'I'm Finch. Oliver Finch.' Needless to say, he was feeling extremely cool.

He listened as Juno explained what had happened to Esme really and then watch as Esme grew...sad? At least that's what Ollie thought he saw on her face (they really hadn't known each other long enough for him to tell, sadly). He ruffled his hair and nodded when Esme said she couldn't deal with everything at the moment. He couldn't blame her really. It was an extremely weird and creepy situation. Hogwarts.

Okay, okay. So it was activity time again. He could do that. He had used Gemino before, and he was pretty sure the other charm wasn't going to be tooooo hard to do...maybe. Probably. Oliver went up to the front of the class and grabbed the ball for their pit and sat back down next to Esme. "I'll...duplicate the first one, I guess??"

Oliver flicked his wand at their little ball and said "Gemino," and watched as the one ball automatically became two. Perfect! Now...to just make like one hundred more. NO BIG DEAL.

Gemino and Augeo. Simple really. If she messed this up being a sixth year then something was seriously wrong with her. That wouldn't be happening now. Hady knew these charms and had no fear that she would be able to preform them flawlessly and to the affect that she wanted.

Turning around to look at the one single ball that was sitting in the ball pit she pulled out her wand. Picking up the small plastic ball in her hand she aimed her wand at it making circle against it, "Augeo." The plastic ball grew to the desired size needed. No problems at all happening. Perfect. Keeping her wand trained on the ball she gave a small flick of her wrist, "Gemino!" and watched as the ball was duplicated into another exactly the same as the first. With how easy and quick this was Hady was sure she would have her ball pit filled in no time even if she had no help at all.

Miranda listened as the instructions were given tasking the class with filling the ball pit by duplicating a thousand times over the Gemino charm.Joy.... Really even though she was all about practice makes perfect, but the fact that the thirty or so students in the room were gonna be there til what seemed midnight filling the pit.

Esme seemed to be better now, or well she stopped repeating things over and over again. WAHHOOOO. things were starting to look up.

Now that the bubbles were all gone and they now had to duplicate and enlarge the balls she moved closer to her friends.... well Juno was her only real friend right now... she didn't really know this kid Oliver and she barely knew Esme. "hey guys, I say we do it all at the same time. That way we know how much more we need for our pit?" didn't want over fill the box right? plus they were in there with it.

Taking out her wand she used the proper movement and duplicated three balls in front of her turning them into six. "Gemino". Smiling she then made them a little bit bigger by saying "Augeo" her balls were now larger and she waited for the rest of the group to do the same.

Right. They had to do Augeo first to make the ball bigger... and then Geminio to make it MORE. Jaemin slid forward so he was actually sitting in the pit, because it was more comfortable inside than on the edge, and looked up at Olly. This was easy enough, and surely he wouldn't... struggle with this like he was with his stupid hair colour.

Thanks, Primeaux. All the blame on you for that one.

"We should duplicate it first, just once, right?" he murmured, picking up the single ball in the pit. "So we each have one to work with? That way we both get to try the spells."

He gave his wand a sharp flick at the ball, whispering the spell firmly. "Geminio."

Bloop. Two balls. Now they could properly share, yes?

Fiyero blinked at Professor Primeaux's instructions. They were going to be filling the pits with balls? Awesome! Ball pits were the best! He remebered playing in them in some fast food restaurants his parents took him to... before he got too tall to fit inside. This was exactly why he loved charms class!

He was a little confused about the spells. Why were there two of them? Was one of them supposed to be better than the other? He knew the engorgement charm, but he'd never heard of the other one before.

Hmm... engorgio could make the ball blow up? Cool... but not quite the point of the activity. Other spell it is! Fiyero pointed his wand at the ball, tracing a circle against it. "Augeo." He hoped that worked... he'd never done that spell before!

He half-expected the ball to grow too much or pop or something weird like that, but it didn't happen. Instead the ball grew to exactly the size he wanted and then stopped. Wow, that was a lot easier than he thought!

Crises averted. Grumpy Slytherin boy...aggravated.

It was embarrassing to have to need help because his magic went a bit haywire. Or was it his wand? He didn't know, and honestly it caught him off guard and freaked him out.

Mumbling a thanks to Oliver, Cornelius inched closer to his pit. The bubbles stopped but kept hiccuping (?) from his wand. He was so done. So so SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO done. Cornelius set his wand down, and apparently that seemed to solve the issue.

The bubbles stopped. Maybe it WAS his magic. Hmmm.

Wait....................................

Did he hear correctly? Enough balls. Lol. That was enough to make the boy cough to cover up a laugh. If John was here...LOL. He'd make so many wrong jokes. Cornelius did his best to stifle another laugh like the immature boy he was. Enough balls. The professor said it again!

And AGAIN. LOL.

Anywaaaaaaaaay. Back to the task at hand. They had to charm the balls and...Cornelius eyed his wand. He was hesitant to pick it up, paranoid bubbles might explode from its end again. Taking a large gulp of air, the boy picked up the wand AND--

Nothing happened. Oh thank Merlin! He would wear clean trousers all this week for Merlin. Oh thank goodness. Next, eyeing the balls in his pit, the Slytherin opted to work on his own. What if he blew up his partner? It would a devastating hit to his ego. It was doing all that well, as it was.

"Geminio," he practice aloud, flicking his wand afterward. Simple? Yes. Magic ready? Let's hope. "Geminio!" He flicked at a few balls, concentrating on only three. They swelled up and TAH-DAH! A lot of balls.

SNORT. Esme couldn't help giggling as Oliver blew on the tip of his wand. He was acting like James Bond or something and it was rather precious. She was so glad to be with her sister and friends right now because it was keeping her from thinking about other things. Well... she barely knew Echo and had only REALLY started spending time with Oliver recently but still.

She watched as he duplicated the first ball and Echo did her part. "Sounds like a good idea," she told the Fifth Year with a nod. Hopefully they would manage to do everything well within the time limit but it shouldn't be TOO bad with them all working together.

"Geminio," she said as she flicked her wand at one of the balls. Now there were two. She repeated that process two more times the way that Echo had done and then was ready to enlarge them. She would have done more but she was a little worried about getting ahead of herself and they all needed to have an equal share in this. Look at her working with others even though she loved being independent.

Using Augeo, Esme made each ball bigger. She smiled at her sister.

So far so good... Fiyero had managed to engorge his ball without any problems. Now he just had to duplicate it enough times to fill an entire pit. That sounded hard (and time-consuming!), but Fiyero Jones was not one to shy away from a challenge!

Now what was that duplication spell again? Jimminy? No, that wasn't it. Gemini? That was closer but still didn't sound quite right. Oh, yeah! Now he remembered... "Geminio," he said, pointing his wand at the ball.

Another ball, the exact same size as the first, appeared. He repeated the spell several more times and soon had enough balls to cover the bottom of the pit. He was on fire now! At this rate he'd be done in no time...

Fiyero's confidence diminished as he glanced around the room at his classmates. He noticed most of them had done the duplication before the engorgement. Oh, no! Had he done it wrong?

Ok so Profy lost his balls. That’s an awful lot of balls to lose. And now they're supposed to replace it? Make them bigger? Okaaaayyy...

So which one first: to make them many or to make them big? Tenacius rolled his wand around his fingers trying to decide. Maaaybe he should try to make one bigger first eh? And there he goes...

"Engorgio" he said, casting the wandstroke as he did against that one plastic ball....

FWOMP!

....... Now he was pressed against one of the walls of the ball pit with a GIGANTIC BALL giving him the most awkward hug. Oh no. Over did it again. Good going Gryffindor.

Sitting in the corner of the ball pit Hady dropped both of the plastic balls into it. So far so good. Not that she was at all worried about messing things up. Confidence and all that good stuff.

Seeing as the plastic balls inside the pit were already the size she needed she felt no need in worrying about using 'augeo' any longer. Which meant all the girl had to do was continuing making duplicates of the ones she had already made. This was a piece of celery! Yep celery. Healthy stuff and all that good jazz.

Annnnyyyyyhoooowwww...

Aiming her wand at the perfectly sized plastic ball Hady gave her wrist a small flick, "Gemino!" And there right beside the first two was an exact copy of a plastic ball. "Gemino, gemino, gemino....," she continued to cast each time giving a small flick of her wrist aimed at a colored ball. Each and every time the incantation was spoken clearly and soon enough there were enough or the item to cover the entire bottom of the ball pit.

They were making ballpits. How cool was Hogwarts? Almost gleefully Hadley collected her ball and sat back down. First Engorgi....What on earth did Salamander do to his ball!? The thing was huge! "A bit too big, I think, Ten."

Now she could show off a bit, do it right. Hadley aimed wand, holding the tip against her ball and made a circle. "Augeo!" Nothing. So much for showing off. "Augeo!" This time it worked, becoming a perfectly sized ball for the pit. That counts right? Second try still counts.

Now to duplicated it. The spell she'd been wanting to learn. She gave her wand a flick. "Gemino!" Nothing. Flick! "Gemino!" Still just a single ball. Hmmmm....

Would they get to play in the pits after they had filled them up with the balls? Because that would be so cool. Hattie was hoping that they would get too. But they had to fill the ball pits up first, so she needed to get to it. She watched the Professor carefully, wanting to make sure that she knew exactly what to do. She didn't like messing up, and feeling silly in front of all of her class mates. So she was going to make sure that she would be able to do the activity correctly.

First she needed to duplicate the ball that she already had. That way she would be able to fill the ball pit up even faster. She smiled, pointing her wand at the ball, and performing the wand movement. She said "Gemino!" as she did this. Smiling, she watched as the ball duplicated. Now there was two balls. "Yaaay!" she beamed, clapping a little.

The girl then redid the spell a couple of times, deciding it would be good to have a few balls to enlarge all in one go.

Ohh this was going to be fun after all. the bubbles were okay but after she and her group made a few balls and enlarged them already.

Stepping over into her corner she smiled back at her group of friends, she kind of went on a frenzy. "gemino" she said over and over again tapping the balls that were close to her. "he he he" she was now starting to laugh.

Moving her wand in the proper movements she said "Augeo" to make the balls bigger. "this is actually fun" telling that slytherin boy and Juno and Esme. "do you think we can fill it up all the way?" it would be so cool to see it fully filled and them laying on the top.

Flick. "Gemino!" Flick. "Gemino!" Flick. "Gemino!" Flick. "Gemino!" Yet, still only one ball. Hadley was getting a bit frustrated. First detention and now she couldn't even get the duplication spell to work.

Today was not her day.

Okay, she just needed to breathe, and regroup. Start by practicing the wand movement. She flicked her wand, then flicked it again, and again, and once more more precisely. About a dozen more practice flicks later, Hadley's arm was getting a bit tired. That was cue for her to switch to practicing the incantation.

"Gemino, gemino, gemino, gemino, gemino..." She continued practicing a dozen more times like she had with the wand movement. Now to put them together. Focus. Picture it in your mind and believe. There will be two identical balls. There will be two identical balls. Flick. "Gemino!"

One ball.

"Son of a--"

Haddie was not being very quiet, and it was easy to hear that she was having trouble. Jaemin set down the balls he'd duplicated for him and Olly and crawled across the empty ball pit he was sitting in until he was closer to hers; the small Slytherin popped his head up over the side, draping his arms over the soft blue wall, and watched her for a minute.

"Haddie, it's Geminio," he said helpfully, giving his wand a little example flick. "With an 'io' at the end."

A lot of people seemed to be struggling with that, so it wasn't really surprising. Jaemin nodded encouragingly at the Ravenclaw girl. She could do it!

"Bu-but-" Kitty stammered slightly, feeling completely lost but too intimidated to question the professor further. She crawled feebly inside one of the ball pits and tried to remember how she got here. What happened in between now and then? Why was she filthy? Was it something she did in this class?

She would figure it out after class. Now she had to pay attention so that she didn't get a detention like her friend Haddie or lose Ravenclaw any more points.

"Gemino," she muttered, pointing to the nearest ball - but her mind was elsewhere.

Juno was going to respect her sister's wishes and not talk about it until she was ready. They really needed to get this box filled, and the others were really having fun!

"I think we can get his box filled!" She grinned and tossed a ball at Esme. Then she grabbed one of her own. She concentrated really hard and practiced the wand movement for a moment before saying the incantation. She flicked her wand, "Geminio!" And suddenly two balls were in her hand. She smiled widely. She just loved magic.

Now to make them larger, she practiced the circular movement around her target for a few moments. When she was ready, she did the circle around the balls and said, "Augeo!" Suddenly the balls grew a little larger than they were before. She laughed and tossed the balls at Echo.

This was gonna be fun!

Olly had been almost right with the incantation. Geminio. Alright, got it, he would remember that. The other spell was not one he had heard before but that didn't matter, he was learning it now. Make the ball bigger and then duplicate it, got it. He turned to Jaemin, and slid himself into the ball pit like his friend had done. Mostly because he hadn't wanted to be the only one left sitting on the edge. But hey, it was more comfortable down there.

"That's a good idea," he said. Olly watched as his friend duplicated their ball. Cool. He took the copy and set it down in front of him. First he needed to make it bigger.

"Augeo," he said. The wand movement kind of confused him but he did his best. A little line, and then a circle, and then another line. It didn't work the first time but he wasn't all that surprised. It might have partly been because he'd done the wand movement too slowly. He tried again. "Augeo." Olly repeated the wand movement, faster and more confidently this time. And the ball grew, not too much but definitely a noticeable amount. Was that big enough? He considered it, and glanced at Jaemin's to see how he was doing.

Nobody said anything about him switching the order of the spells, so Fiyero assumed it was okay. He liked his way better anyway! At least this way meant not having to do the engorgement charm about a million times.

"Geminio," he said, flicking his wand at one of the balls covering the bottom of the pit in front of him. "Geminio. Geminio, Geminio," Doing the same spell over and over again was getting really boring, but he kept at it. He wished he had a partner... that would make things go a lot faster.

After a few more minutes of the duplication spell, Fiyero was sure. he must be almost done, but as he looked down, he saw the pit was only half full. Man, this was taking forever! He allowed his ind to wander as he continued duplicating. He wished the balls came in colors like the ones in the fast food restaurants. Maybe if he had extra time, he could put a color-changing charm on some of them... That would be awesome!

"Finite! Finite!" he flailed his wand arm as he tried cancelling the spell. The plastic ball suddenly shrank back to the size it was before and the Gryffindor Ace finally managed to breathe again. Merlin he always seem to overdo things doesn’t he? Or maybe its his wand. He cast a wary eye on the Alder wood "Come on man work with me here. Make it grow slowly... You know like my cruiser." then again his cruiser took nearly a bazillion tries to get to the right size.

He got the ball in his hand again, and reeeeeally caaaaarefully, repeated the wand stroke and the spell "Engorgio--" 'but not to big!' he yelled in his mind.

And the ball grew instantly. Tenacius had that look on his face that was almost terrified until the ball just stopped growing all of a sudden, now enlarged to the size of a baseball.

Whew!

Wondering if he should push his luck, he got another small plastic ball and tried again. And with the same apprehension and care, repeated the process. Plastic ball grew roughly around the same size as the first ball. It worked! Again! But ok that’s it he's stopping right here. He's happy with his pair of balls.

Smiling, Esme caught the ball that her sister had tossed towards her, giving a wink to show appreciation. For the moment she didn't want to think about anything besides the activity and her sister was being amazing like always and so was Oliver. Echo was being nice as well though Esme didn't know her as well as the others. She was happy to have her friends with her right now.

"Gemino!" she said, causing the ball to duplicate itself. She repeated the motion a number of times until she had a small pile. Maybe there were eight of them??? She didn't really care... Using Augeo she made the balls bigger and laughing at what Juno was doing to Echo, shook her head. "I really think that we can. We are already making a lot of progress." She looked to see how many balls there were. Yep, hopefully they would end up having enough.
