| | | Transfiguration | TBA The Transfiguration classroom had been rearranged slightly for the afternoon lesson. The desks had been pushed toward the edges of the room, leaving more open space through the centre, though everything else appeared much as it usually did.
Across the blackboard at the front of the room though, written in neat silver chalk, was a single line:
Elara stood near the windows as she often did, sleeves rolled neatly to her forearms, wand resting loosely between her fingers.
She watched the room gradually fill, offering each student a small smile or greeting as they arrived, her attention moving easily from one familiar face to the next. For now, she offered no explanation for the rearrangement, simply letting the class settle while she waited for everyone to arrive.
OOC: Hello, helloooo. Lovely to have you here <3 Please title your posts with your character names and houses, thank you!

Vi was very much ready for it! This was the mindset he stepped into the classroom with, taking in the slight changes to it. That vast amount of space in the middle left him very curious, but not curious enough that he had to search the place for more clues. After all, the professor had to reveal all the things soon enough.
The quote on the board was taken in, though it did nothing to add to his curiosity. The words weren’t of the fulvous nature - meaning that they did not stick out like those sort of leaves during autumn to capture one’s attention - in his opinion. That was because he was familiar with the sentiments of the statement. “Hi, Professor,’’ he greeted, giving her a smile. Greetings out of the way, he beelined for a desk towards the back of the class. |

His steps had a familiar rhythm to them, heel-to-toe, as yet another invisible beat followed his stride.
Professor Bom-VOSS-ee was standing by the windows with her sleeves rolled neatly to her forearms, wand loose between her fingers, and Jae's brain immediately experienced what could only be described as a brief xerothermic event before recovering as his deep chocolate eyes travelled toward her signature silver writing on the blackboard and accompanying cryptic message.
The seventh year's eyebrows lifted briefly before he swung his bag back around his front and fished out today's individually wrapped tea bag. Jae was hardly a fan of tea, but you wouldn't know it judging by the number of tea boxes lining the inside of his trunk, the number now spilling over to the shelves beside his bed. He really needed to give more of this stuff away.
He flashed the professor a charming smile as he passed, sliding the tea across her desk so it rested near the center of it.
"Afternoon, Professor," he greeted, grin widening. "Looking very... intimidating today with the rolled-up-sleeves." Bit too much like another professor, for his liking.
He made his way over to one of the empty desks right front and center, dropping his bag beside it before casualing folding himself in it and kicking his long legs out in a stretch.

| Kara Walsh; Gryffindor ❄ Chasing Waterfalls & Wonder ❄ | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Another transfiguration lesson ... Kara had been slowly warming up to the fact that her last two years would be with a different Head of House. And as frustrating and abandoned as she was feeling, it wasn't Professor Voss' fault. It wasn't her fault too that she liked transfiguration. She was going to have to meet with her at some point and while she'd been putting it off, she just hoped she wouldn't have start completely over. That perhaps Professor Feirgrund had shared the files of the Gryffindor students before his departure. But also kind of made her more angry too, because she trusted him and if he did share their information, was it only to Professor Voss? Or was it to their other professors too?
Taking note of what was written on the board, she glanced around now, wondering what was in disguise. Because the cryptic message could only mean that something was disguised. "Good afternoon, Professor," She glanced around noting a few familiar faces, taking a seat in one of the vacant spots.

| Xelene Baltazar-Dos Santos :: Gryffindor That's Rough Buddy | Be the Flower | Moon & Stars Xelene stopped at the entrance as her baby blue eyes registered the order of the desks. Her detail-oriented mind was curious about the change. What were they going to do? Why were the desks there?
With a shrug to herself, Xelene made her way to a random desk with her usual pep in her step. “Good day, Professor,” she smiled cheerfully. Xelene admired how the older witch made age look fierce.
Gracefully setting her bag on the chosen desktop, she glanced at the blackboard. Hmmmmm. “Just like fake people,” she said mostly to herself as she applied some lip gloss on her lips. The phrase reminded her of a certain Ravenclaw she’d met who wasn’t as smart as they wanted everyone to believe. She could see right through them.

She watched her head toward the back, briefly noting the supplies being arranged on her desk before her attention returned to the rest of the room. The message on the board had clearly prompted a few puzzled looks already, though Elara offered no clarification just yet.
There would be time for that soon enough. Quote:

She couldn't say she disagreed with the sentiment, though she was rather curious about the person who had inspired it. “Good afternoon, Miss Santos.”
Her gaze lingered for a moment before shifting toward the words on the board. “An interesting interpretation. We haven't even started, and already someone's feeling suspicious.”
There was a flicker of amusement in her expression before she turned her attention back to the rest of the classroom.
--
Once the last few students had settled, Elara moved toward the front of the classroom. Her wand remained loosely in hand as she looked over the room, taking in the students gathered before her.
Her gaze flicked briefly toward the words written across the board before returning to the class. “Alright,” she began, waiting until the room had quietened. “Let’s start with something simple.”
She paused, letting her eyes move across the students. “If you wanted something to disappear without making it invisible, what would you change?”
She left the question hanging for a moment, giving them time to consider it rather than supplying the answer herself. OOC: Guys! I am deeply sorry for being super late with this. Life was a little too much the last few days and I couldn't properly get on to make replies. Thank you for being here and being patience <3

| Viano Thanatos-Misra :: Gryffindor ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ Claimed by Bits ❤️ ~ Queen of Typos ❄ Magical Mosh Pit ❄ Er… that should be ‘Mister’ Thanatos-Misra. Vi did not miss the opportunity to gently and quietly correct his professor - before heading off to his chosen seat, of course. He was readying himself for the lesson when he noted Tiana taking a seat near him. This fact made his thoughts drift briefly to Connor. Did she know the interest he had in her brother? Anyway. He gave her a smile in greeting. See, he was polite as always.
With his books and other materials ready for note taking, the Gryffindor turned his full attention to Voss the moment she started off the lesson. The first question had him thinking quite a bit. The professor had specified that they shouldn’t make the object invisible but at the same time, it should disappear. Vi raised his hand after a bit. “I would definitely change the object’s physical form into something else,” he began. “Something that persons wouldn’t really take note of. Sort of how regular old objects are used for Portkeys as opposed to fancy ones.” |

| ❄ Chasing Waterfalls & Wonder ❄ | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Make something disappear without making it invisible? Kara just sat there dumbfounded for a moment as she pondered Professor Voss' question, because wasn't that the whole point? Except ... her eyes flicked back to the text on the board. Not everything that is seen is what it is. The cryptic message, the vague question, this was definitely a lesson about disguises.
But was it about switching spells, as Viano seemed to suggest (in a roundabout way)?
Also was the question directed to how she personally would make something disappear? Or was it a generic - what are all the possible ways? Because if Kara was being honest, there was probably many ways to make something disappear, without resorting to invisibility. She personally would probably not do them. "Camouflage. Making something the same color as the background. For instance, my quill, I could make it the same color as my desk. It wouldn't necessarily disappear, but it would appear as though there's nothing there." Kara said, once it was her turn to answer something

| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf The seventh year's insufferable grin only widened at the professor's playful observation as he settled into his seat with the usual brand of unbothered confidence. Why, yes, thank you Professor BOOM-Voss for noticing his nerves of steal and bold manuevars. Some claimed the Sorting Hat had gotten it all wrong and he should have been placed in Gryffindor ― which WOULD have been ideal had he know how this whole Head of House Tango was going to end up.
Those who thought so were certainly entitled to their incorrect opinion. It wasn't entirely their fault that they had fallen for it.
"Oh, I don't know, Professor. I find confidence and sense to go hand-in-hand with people who know how to play with fire."
Not like to. Know. There was a distinction.
He swept a hand through his bubblegum-pink for emphasis, tossing it lightly and letting the magical hair care flick a bit of sparkle into the air then offered her a wink before finally turning his attention to parchmennt he had situated on his desk and, mostly, prepared for the lesson to begin.
When it did, he took a moment to consider his response. Being that this was Transfiguration, there were the obvious channels with which to go down and each were valid. Truly, simply changing the appearance of something was the very nature of the subject and the question the professor had on the board had him wondering just what in this space she had already transformed and all of them none the wiser.
The chair? The desks? The board? The door?
"I'd change its purpose," he offered eventually, raising his hand just enough to make it clear he was volunteering rather than simply thinking aloud. "Or, well, what people expect it to be for. The perception."
He gestured vaguely toward the classroom, thoughts dancing around more wildly than his latest routine as he tried to sort out the actual answer he wanted.
"A quill on a desk is something you notice when you need to write or it is suspiciously by itself. But a quill in a jar of other quills? It becomes part of the scenery. Nobody's going to question why it's there, or give it a second thought. Soooooo perhaps you don't need to change the object at all. You change the context that makes it worth noticing." Blend in or otherwise create a scenario that makes it seem as though you ― er, the object ― is nothing more than a fly on the wall.

| Tiana Patterson l Gryffindor Swedishfish Girl! ❄ Page-Turning Seamstress ❄ Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede! Tiana wondered if she had heard right? Was it a trick question? How could you make something dissapear without making it invisible? First she was totally slumped and just sat silent contemplating what to answer. Then Viano, Kara and Jae offered up answers that sounded smart to her ears. What ever could she add to the mix when they had already said camouflage, changing an objects appearance and purpose. Tiana figured she had to say something anyway so she tentatively raised her hand "You have to change the objects appearance, and colour. If you want for example to hide a white rat amongst a flock of brown rats you have to change the colour of its fur somewhow either with a spell or a potion. That way its still there, but blends in and doesn't stand out amongst the other rats as easily." Hopefully Professor Voss understood her example.
