Hey Welcome to Snitchseeker, all that... Anyway, I'm Kristin, and one of your friendly mods of the month, representing August. And I'm writing this at almost 3 am, so excuse any babbling. xD
A little about me and SS: I've been a member here since December 2007, joining upon the suggestion of another member of Snitchseeker who I'd become friends with on Dissendium.com, and been involved here ever since. Starting with the RPs, where I had two terms as the Ravenclaw prefect, then one as Quidditch Captain. And when the Diagon Alley RP started, I joined that as first a shopkeeper assistant at Gringotts, then moved on to shopkeeper of Madame Malkin's, which I still am now, along with the supervisor of the north side of the street. I also am involved in the Ministry RP, as a member of the department of Magical Law Enforcement, and have been the Divination professor in the school RP for the last two terms.
Outside of the RPs, I'm also one of your lovely mods right here in Platform 9 3/4, and I wrote for the site magazine (and was head writer for), Seeker of the Snitch, until it was dissolved fairly recently due to time issues. I'm also the sponsor of the Arthur and Molly Weasley fan club, and am a member of quite a few others.
In case you haven't figured it out by now (or noticed my tag), I'm a bit of an RP addict, but luckily that only began after I was done with schooling. Yes, I am an adult, with a bachelor's degree in art, emphasis in art history. Although, I don't use my degree much, seeing as I'm a lowly sales assistant at the Kohl's near my house. My house where I sadly live with my mother (who doesn't appreciate my being just this side of an insomniac) and my cat, Hermione. I love to write/create the multitude of characters who populate my brain, read (of course), watch television/see movies, draw... I've known how to cross-stitch, crochet and knit for a while now but haven't actually created anything lately...
Now to set you loose. Feel free to ask me anything, and I'll try to answer the best I can. (There are some types of questions I struggle with. Just to warn you) And definitely, have fun and keep aware of the rules. Wouldn't want to start things off on the wrong foot.
Hi SilverTiger. I also have a bachelor's degree, the truth in psychology. This year I'll study at the master's degree. So, you are not alone there is an adult. I think that you're a very interesting personality. And because very interesting what kind of music do you like most?
Hi Silvertiger, I think it's great that you are such a great fan, obviously with such knowledge!! I may be asking you questions about all things hp and ss so keep us updated with everything you know!!
Hi Kristin Nice to know a bit about you
I hope you'll draw something that relate to harry potter and post the pic here! I am such a big fan of art. but I am not good at it.
hey i am wondering how you are feeling about the end of harry potter? i am new to this site and don't fully understand it what do you do as a house prefect and quiditch captain?

Hmm, a mini-interview all in one post.
Anyway, I’m not actually sure I have a favorite book or movie, as I seriously do love all of them. Although I’m sad that amnesiac Lockhart wasn’t part of OotP the movie. xD Because he was hilarious in the book.
And I’ve always been a boring Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione shipper. *shrugs*

I’ve always been able to relate to Ginny most. Her whole character arc, of being shy and then opening up and sort of surprising people. And Hermione, a little. The intelligence and love of books.

I’ve never tried to knit a sweater, no. Like Molly Weasley or like anyone else (as I’m pretty sure she used magic to do her knitting. )

The Sorting here on SS? It looks like you already did that, so I’m not sure what you’re asking. If you’re referring to an actual RP sorting, that only happens every once in a while, when the Hogwarts RP admins decide to open up the Sorting hat thread during the start-of-term feast. But other than that, you just go with the site Sorting, as to what house your school RP character goes into.

How do I find the time? I have no idea. Late night visits, mostly (obviously).
And you shouldn’t feel afraid to jump into the RP here. Everyone involved is totally there to help you get your bearing and become just as much a part of things as we are. So all you have to do is get your character created, then just post somewhere. Hopefully you’ll find someone willing to play with you, and then you’re all started.

*points upward* Once you have a character name, personality, and all that lovely information, all you need to do is pick a thread in the RP forum and post something. Give your character something to do, interact with people, buy school supplies in Diagon Alley (for the next few days at least), have your character arrive at the Kings Cross platform… You’ll find that everyone is pretty much willing to help you out, once you set foot in the RP.

Nice to meet you.
Is it wrong to say that I really don’t go for most of the non-canon ships? I’ve always been somewhat of a purist. When it seems two characters are meant to be together, I’m there all the way. I don’t try to change things around.

Why thank you. I’m sure she’d like the compliment.
Unfortunately, I still have yet to watch AVPM/AVPS, but I want to try and do so eventually. So I can’t really answer your question regarding that. And I don’t know that I really have any favorite bits of HP trivia, either. It all just makes me and is one reason why I really want to get onto Pottermore finally.

You mention that one of your favourite characters is Professor McGonagall (she happens to be mine). I'm not sure if you've been able to access Pottermore yet or if you've cheated and had a sneaky peak at some of the spoilers like me - but if you have what do you think of McGonagall's backstory?
Thank you.
And no. I haven’t been able to access Pottermore yet, but I’m excited about learning her backstory. I haven’t spoiler-ed myself regarding it a lot, although I’ve heard little things.

Personally, I think she should only write more “HP” books if she so chooses, and I’d definitely read them if she did. Especially if they were regarding the second gen, or even the Marauders’ era. I think there are enough fans out there that it would definitely not be overkill.

Hi
What do I do with my positions here? Well, I oversee these threads, along with the other Platform 9 ¾ mods, help you all avoid spam and so forth. and the biggest part of being a FC sponsor is making sure people are active there, and approving of new member applications. But in general, the mods and admins are around to help everyone have the best SS experience they can.

If I could be any of the characters? I’d probably be Ginny or Hermione. And I think I’m some sort of mixture of the two of them, maybe leaning a bit more toward the former.

The Ministry of Magic RPG? Once the normal Sorting is closed, the placement for the Ministry will start. It’s fairly similar to the Sorting, except a bit more character-based. So I’d say the first step to getting into the Ministry is to think of a character you’d like to play there. And then applying via the placement once it opens.
and I’m sorry if I misinterpreted your question.

Neither. I love them all, but have to admit that the movies are really only one interpretation of what actually happened. They did an amazing job, though, of bringing the books to life.

Oh, I loved your answer to my question about JkRowling's interaction with some SS members, she's so accesible with her fans, that speaks very highky about herself.
Is there anything specific that’s confusing you about it all? I could maybe give you a clearer answer that way, but there are also a lot of threads here, here, and here that might help, at least when it comes to the site-wide RPs.
And thank you. I think it speaks highly of her as well.

Officially? I got validated after the third day, although I’d also gotten the quill on day one and two. The Yahoo mail fiasco set me back til day three, when I decided to use a different email account to register.

Hi
That’s tough. Especially as I’m not sure I really have one, either with the books and the movies. I definitely think things picked up after GoF, book-wise, though. But the movies are all excellent. (The books are as well)

And yet again I feel like I’m not answering the question. As I really don’t think I have one. I’m really sorry I don’t, now, but I can’t really just randomly pick one, like I’ve done in other situations. I’d feel like I was letting down all the others.

Hogwarts status? Like, your house, or if you’re prefect, that sort of thing? Because your house is decided by going through the Sorting, like in the books. The RP mods and admins keep an eye on everyone to see if they’re active, etc., and personally select the prefects and such for every term, and it’s pretty much the same for who gets invited to be a professor.

Hi, both of you.
I got on the Quidditch team by trying out, like I would if I was part of one in real life. It’s just that the tryouts in the RP are a bit different than they most likely would be in real life.

Personally, I didn’t really have many problems when I first started RPing here on SS. And the first character I played was easy, as she was someone I’d first developed elsewhere, and in a way ended up being a lot like myself. Shyness can work sometimes, too. Whether it be in-character or otherwise, although out-of-character, it helps at least if you’re willing to ask people if they want to RP with you. Very few of us are the type to criticize if you have problems when you’re starting out, as we understand there’s a learning curve.

Nice to meet another fellow slightly- older SSer, and I think it’s a fandom for all ages, honestly. I’m sorry your family makes fun of you. Most of mine doesn’t, as half of them also have read the books or seen the movies, no matter their age. (And I think I’m finally going to manage to get my mother to read the books as well, with a few other people’s help)

Hi!
I love your enthusiasm, I just have to say that before I get into anything. But yes, you can pretty much expect everything you mentioned, although most of the professors only have one exam during a term, being the finals. The questions professors ask depend on their subject, and the topic of each lesson. There’s classes, homework, earning (and losing) points for your House, separate common rooms, and even extracurricular activities. Quidditch, socializing, anything you can think of might very well be part of the RP.

*takes a deep breath* No, not yet, and I’m aiming for Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, although I’ll honestly be happy with wherever I end up Sorted. I seem to usually end up in either of those two Houses.

Hi Okay, in a way that sounds like a more interesting degree than my art history one. I took one psychology class in school, just kind of randomly. I’ve never thought about trying for a master’s though. I’m happy with what I’ve got, unless it ends up necessary. And thank you for thinking I’m interesting.
Music-wise, I listen to just about anything. Mostly popular music, but classic rock, country, musicals… They’re all in my iTunes library. I’m eclectic.

How do you manage time for Snitchseeker as well as being an adult lol. I know that sounds foolish, but I'm 21 years old and going to school and am just worried about having time to be on Snitchseeker.
