Hi everyone! I’m Bethany, and I’m super excited to be your mod to meet during May. I’ve been a member of SS for 12 years now - I joined way back when between the book releases of Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. I came for the news, and got hooked by the role-playing. You’ll most likely find me hanging around in the school RP, where I’ve been playing the Potions Professor, Ignatius Noble, since the start of the year. Before I turned mediumvioletred (that prettiful school staff colour up there!), I was (and continue to be) a full blue-blooded Ravenclaw, never quite getting the urge to re-sort like so many others have done...

Off of SS, I’m a computational biologist working to understand how infectious diseases spread so we can react to treat them better. I’m originally from the UK, but at the start of 2017 I relocated across the Pond to the US. I’m loving the opportunity to explore somewhere new, but there’s certainly things I miss about home too.

1. Great question! Students tend to come more naturally, and I find it really interesting to see how they evolve during those formative years at Hogwarts, but at the moment I'm relishing the new RPing experiences and opportunities playing Noble gives me. He's a completely different from anyone else I've played, so he's both refreshing and challenging at the same time. My favourite thing is seeing how different students react to him in class, terrified or otherwise! ;)

2. If it's nice out, going for a bike ride or a swim. Otherwise curled up on the sofa either crocheting or reading a book ^__^

3. Nope...mainly because I didn't know it existed when I was younger! At various points growing up I wanted to be a magician, teacher or physiotherapist. I still think being a magician would be cool, but I'm glad I ended up where I did :)

Hello, bethany. I've got one question and one question only. Which dark lord do you like better, Voldemort or Gellert Grindelwald?

Interesting question...can I say neither?! I haven't seen Fantastic Beasts (gasp!), so I don't know much about the background in Grindelward from there :/

And honestly, if I was choosing between dark lords...I think for old time's sake I'd have to go for Lord Voldemortist, from our very own Hogwarts role play here on SS.

1. Ooo, that's a difficult one. I work with infectious diseases though, so a universal treatment or vaccine would be amazing.

2. I have really eclectic music tastes...but I'd probably say soundtracks. I have the Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter soundtracks all on my work playlist at the moment.

3. You would never find me eating...peanut butter.

Eurgh, I would love to play Quidditch for real! Going on my experiences playing water polo at university, I think I'd probably either play beater or keeper. There's no way I could be a seeker though!

Hello!

I really wish we had one of the spontaneous transportation mechanisms - apparition or floo. I've family and friends across multiple continents, and I'd love to be able to visit them more regularly. Skype just isn't quite the same as being there in person!
