Well hello there! My name is Kelvin (yep....like the degree scale), and I'm one of your mods for this month's Meet __________ section.
I've been a member of Snitchseeker for almost 4.5 years now after being dragged into it by my friend Alyssa (who no longer visits the site, unfortunately). She knew I loved Harry Potter and forced strongly encouraged me to join. Four and a half years later, here I am!
When I first joined, I didn't really do much. I was sorted into Ravenclaw and made a character (who I didn't play for a while) and that was about it. But after about 7 months on the site, I became really interested in the role play (which, at the time, was...oh gosh, what term was that? It was the term where Hogwarts was taken over by Pierre...was that Baby Cries?) Anyway, in my time as a student, I played Ryan Lee, who was apparently a Ravenclaw stud. I played quidditch for a few terms and captained the Ravenclaw team for two terms until I was hired to the school staff to teach Charms (I was also the editor/graphics guru/adviser to the SS School Yearbook for a while). I taught Charms for a year IRL, and decided to step down because I was getting too busy with college.
I now currently moderate the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes (Games), Madame Malkin's (Graphics and Art) forums and the Social Groups feature, and I love it!
As for my life away from SS, I'm a 20 year-old (21 next month WOOT) university student from California studying Psychology and Social Behavior (with intended minors in Education and Asian American Studies). I play taiko (Japanese drumming) and volleyball and uhhhhhhhhhhh ask to find out more?
Oh, I'm also procrastinating on writing a paper right now.
Ask away! (And remember to follow all SS Rules) |

That's pretty cool. I should be in my second year, but I'm taking a semester off. Just noticed your avatar too haha. Boy Meets World is one of my favorite shows. I like the later episodes when they are in college the most. What about you?

I didn't discover it until I was about 14 or 15 I think (maybe a little earlier...I'm no good with dates. Columbus came to American when? Is that the War of 18whastitcalled? etc.), but OH MAN I love that show. I agree - I liked the show better once they got later into high school and then college, but the show is good no matter what. It's so easy to relate to. I actually had quite a few teachers in high school who were a lot like Mr. Feeny. I didn't have them as teachers as many times as the kids in BMW had Feeny, but they were certainly incredibly inspirational people, and I am better to have known and learned from them.
Also, apparently, the woman who played Topanga just enrolled at a university not far from here.

I would by no means consider myself a graphicing expert. I don't know if I could give you any tips to get into the industry either (I'm not even part of it?), but I guess try to be original with your work, and don't expect to be SUPER!AMAZING right away. Everyone has to start somewhere. |

I love it! I have. If you know AJ Rafael from Youtube, I've met him. I'm also pretty good friends with Jennifer Chung (also Youtube) and I'm constantly around pretty famous dance crews (I've met Victor Kim and Mike Song a few times). I also saw Emily Osment and Mitchell Musso at Disneyland once.
I suppose I can't really say much, since it was 90 degrees F today (while I was at Disneyland ), but there are definitely places in California where it gets COLD. Where I'm originally from, it frequently drops below freezing during the night, and borders on freezing during the day. Quote:

I'm not trained as a Western drummer at all, but I suppose the main difference is that taiko is more about the passion and the movement than Western drumming is. That's not ALL taiko is about, but it's a major difference from Western drumming.

If Daffy Duck and Donald Duck arranged a fight to the death, who would be the victor and what would be the psychosocial ramifications of such a duel?

First of all, Daffy would definitely win, even though I like Donald Duck more. However, this battle would take quite the toll on Daffy because he would have to take out one of his brethren. How tragic! I think it would cause Daffy to develop a nervous twitch, and any time he saw a fellow duck, he would have a vision of elephants running toward him to trample him.
In addition, their battlefield would look like a meteor crater (as though one divided by zero) and the site would be haunted by Donald's ghost. Then Ghost Adventures would come to the site to research it and run everywhere and scream and flex and wear awkwardly tight shirts. Oh, and they're all wearing hipster glasses. Donald's ghost too.

Thanks for introducting yourself. Hi Rebecca!
I hope you will become a super active member as well.
You can get sorted starting on April 12th (which happens to be 5 days before my 21st birthday! ) After you get sorted, you'll be able to start playing in our Hogwarts Role Play. But even before then, you can get involved in our Ministry of Magic Role Play (which also involves Diagon Alley and, I believe, now Knockturn Alley). There's so much to do here, though. You can read or write fan fiction, you can start your own role play (as in come up with a story line and invite people to play with you), you can play games, explore pop culture (through the Leaky Cauldron section of the site), and so much more! All I can say is explore explore explore! Snitchseeker may seem gigantic and intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of things, there's so much fun to be had. |

I really just laughed out loud on this one. Ohmigosh.
Hypothetical situation (thank goodness): The ice cream man stops selling Choco Tacos. What would be the impact on people everywhere? Would the Ice Cream Sandwich fulfill the need for people who like chocolate covered tacos and ice cream? Or would the old fashioned Ice Cream Cone step up?

How did you get into taiko? Do you do this type of drumming by yourself, or are there others with the same interest?

And yes, the form of taiko I play is called kumi-daiko, or group/ensemble drumming.
