Holly was not impressed that they were staying in a Broom Closet for a whole year. Even if she was intrigued by the French brooms that they had to walk past to get into their common room. Even if she was happy that they didn’t need to listen to other students talking away in a variety of European languages that she didn’t understand, and would probably have assumed meant they were talking about her behind her back. EVEN if she was happy to be a Slytherin-only group.

She still wasn’t happy about being in a broom cupboard.

Having scoped out the bedrooms already [and two whole years of girls together spelled disaster, honestly] and having tried to get a bed against a wall so that she only had one girl next to her (hopefully Alis or Jorgie got it - though after last nights misstep, she doubted Jorgie would pick to go next to her… so hopefully Alis was there AND THEN Jorgie).

As it was, there were too many girls in that single room trying to get their things sorted out -- which meant that Holly Tamesis was back in the common room, trying to get used to the sunlight. Sunlight and the mix of dark greens and blacks just didn’t seem to go. She missed the lake and the candlelight that seemed to just make everything more homey… This pure amount of sunlight… was weird.

But, given all of that, the fourth year still picked a comfortable chair by the window and sat down with her Runes textbook.

Sure the Broom closet was cool since you got to walk by all of the brooms each time you came in but magic could only do so much to make you feel at home in a closet. Although, he supposed he should be thankful that he wasn’t having to share with the actual houses. But he missed his cold, damp, and slightly dark common room. Finally coming to the other side of the broom closet his eyes squinted. ”Every blasted time. Who though this many windows was a great idea?”

He stood there trying to readjust his eyes so he could finally see. That’s when he noticed Holly sitting in a chair by the windows. He shook his head because he was going to do the same thing but reluctantly because he really wasn’t sure what to expect this term... his final term. He walked over and joined Holly, ”mind if I join you?”

Eiji, remarkably, was not too fussed with this living arrangement and it was not because of the lack of French speaking housemates. He had mastered the art of blocking out unwanted sounds, particularly those in his non-native language. He didn't mind the additional natural lighting either. The one bone he had to pick with this whole thing was just how close the beds were to one another in the dorms. He had woken up with the fellow in the bed to his left holding his hand and just...no thank you. There were other hands he would rather wake up holding and he had no aspirations of being a person of comfort to any homesick housemates.

Minus a few exceptions. A number that he could count on one hand and still have plenty of left over fingers.

"....you know there is an easy solution to the window situation," he said coolly while looking up from his alchemy text in the corner of the common room a bit of a ways off from the pair. "Curtains. Heavier drapes." He paused and glanced around the space again, unable to fathom how he got to this point in his life where he was actually asking advice and suggestion from his little sister. "Once we leave this place this space will go back to being just a broom closet, so its likely they wouldn't object much to us making a few additions to the space."

Like heavy curtains.
