A glance at her watch told Vashti that the time allotted for the lesson was coming to an end.
Whether the students were wandering aimlessly through the tunnels or had succeeded in reaching the main chamber, a door identical to the one they entered through appeared on the wall in front of them. Once they walked through the door, they would find themselves once again back in the History of Magic classroom.
"Excellent work today, all of you," Vashti said once they had all returned, a proud smile on her face. "Unfortunately, that's all the time we have for this lesson today, but I hope you've learned something new, whether through our discussions or through your experience in the chamber." Perhaps in another lesson they would take a field trip through the real Chamber of Secrets, like she had experienced during one of the lessons in her time as a student, but that was a possibility for another day.
"Please gather your things, and hurry on to your next class. Your homework will be posted on the noticeboard later this afternoon. Have a great day!" ---

It was good information that while it was specific to only glass, it could technically be used on other substances, although less effective. Although now that Kara considered it, scorgify was a much easier spell to master and would likely still be preferable to cleaning other substances rather than trying to use a less effective spell.
Time for the main activity, which they were exploring a mock chamber of secrets? Interesting. She did wonder about the basilisk though, since the one from Harry Potter's time was killed. Was that same one still laying around within the pipes, but animated to seem real? Yikes.
Armed with her mirror from her desk, she followed her peers down the pipe and into the tunnels. "Lumos" she whispered, a soft glow emitting from her wand, but wondered if it was the best idea. Professor Amstern hadn't said no light, but would this attract the basilisk to her? Somehow though haven't the security of being able to see more clearly as she wound her way through the tunnels though ...
Casually she held up the mirror so she could check around the corner, hoping it'd be enough to keep her from being frozen... even if it wasn't a real basilisk, she didn't like the idea of being petrified. Fake or not. Would she be a greater target being a half-blood? Where is she meant to go? Just keep walking until she reaches the end of the tunnel?
One foot in front of the other, she fought the urge to break out into a song to break the silence.

If it had been an actual Basilisk chasing them, Id most likely would have outright panicked. But since it was not, he wasn’t scared though he was sure this fake one was going to catch up to him with how incredibly close it sounded. Already, spells were tumbling through his mind as he tried to decide which would be most suitable and useful. With a calm mind, as thought by Dad D, he filtered through them. Protego would have been useful if the Basilisk attacked physically but maybe the Conjunctivitis Curse instead? That sure would create mayhem.
Iddy had literally opened his mouth to ask Paul’s opinion when the beautiful, tear-jerking song pierce the air. He couldn’t help but be halted in his hasty tracks as the warmth filled him. It reminded him of one of Mama Bea’s hugs  ; it too brought a sense of comfort and security.
Needless to say that it would make perfect sense that he take the left path. He held out the mirror to check if there was any approaching danger. For all this Gryffindor knew, the hissing from behind and the Phoenix song {yes, he recognised it} were just tools to fool him and the others. Seeing there was no yellow eyes, Id proceeded towards the comforting notes. | |
