DADA Lesson 1 Professor Rae bustled into the empty classroom. She had been in previously to clean it up for the school year, and it took but a moment to clear out cobwebs and dust that had accumulated more recently. Once that was finished, she fished a bit of parchment from the top of her desk and settled into her chair. A sound at the door caused her to wave with the hand not writing. "Come in, come in. Get your supplies ready and we will begin in a moment," she said without looking up. |
-Walks in and sits in the first row. She takes out her stuff- "Hello Professor!!!" |
Lizzy entered the classroom, set her books down on a desk, and sits down herself. "Hello, Porfessor Rae, Uh, this is Defense Against the Dark Arts, right? Im afraid Im still not too familiar with the castle, I almost got lost on my way here. But I made it on time! Im Lizzy, by the way. Lizzy Barnum." said Lizzy enthusiastically. |
Walks in and finds a seat in the middle of the classroom. "Hello professor!" Says Brandon as he gets ready for class. |
*Cassandra walks into the DADA class room and notices her new friend Lizzy. Walking up to an empty desk beside her, Cassandra smiles as she sits down.* "Hi, Lizzy" she says with a hint of joy in her voice. "I didn't get lost this time" she continues with a gleam in her soft blue eyes. Turning her attention to the front of the class room, Cassandra notices their Professor and smiles. "Hello Professor" she remarks as she starts to pull our some parchment and a quill. |
-looks around ad waves at her fellow Gryffindors- |
Professor Rae looked up from her parchment as the students made their way to their seats. Once they were settled, she rose and came around the desk, her quill temporarily tucked behind her ear and a small smudge of ink on her cheek. "I"m going to go ahead and get started. I hope none of your housemates arrive late. I'll be forced to penalize them. Now... let's get right down to it. We're going to have a very brief introduction to Defense Against the Dark Arts. I'd hate to hold you over, because it is a glorious day out. Who can tell me what defines magic as 'Dark?'" |
Brandon raises his hand. "It could be any magic meant to harm another thing or person. Dark wizards only use thier magic to cause panic and harm." |
Jill raised her hand as well, but dropped it as another student answered. |
Hippie is sitting in the back, writing down notes, and looks clueless because of the question. This is her first time in this class. |
"Nice job, Brandon. Five points for Gryffindor. You're right... Dark Magic is that which has the clear intent of causing harm. We'll cover a variety of different angles of the Dark Arts in this class, but one major aspect will be Dark Magic and its users. We'll also discuss Dark Creatures and specific Dark Spells. But the majority of our class will focus on the defense aspect. I hope we'll be trying and using spells that you can master in order to prepare for hazardous situations." "Let's start at the beginning of the list. What are some Dark Creatures we know of?" |
*Lina raised her hand at the Professor's question but another student answered it before her. Instead she starts writing the answer down on her parchment* |
*again Lina raises her hand* Professor, Red caps are dark creatures, right? |
Brandon raised his hand again for the next question, "Would dementors count professor?" |
Hippie rases her hand timidly "Um Professor is a werewolf considered to be a dark creature?" |
-raises hand- "Mayb a Basilisk? |
"Ten points each to Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Red caps, werewolves, dementors, and basilisks are all dark, but the werewolves and dementors fall into a different catagory that I will discuss in a bit. Are there any others?" |
Lizzy raises her hand and says "Lethifold are dark dreatures, aren't they? And the Nundu is as well, I think. Arent Sirens and Manticores dark creatures too?" |
*Cassandra raises her hand* "Um, What about a Acromantula?" she said tentativly. |
*again Linas hand is in the air* I think the chimaera is dark too Professor |
-raises hand again- "what about Dragons? And Salamanders?" -Afton says nervously- |
*Remembering another Cassandra raises her hand again* "Are Thestrals concidered dark creatures?" |
Raven walked into DADA looking at the students that had already arrived. She sighed and noticed nothing but Gryffindors feeling the rooms. She walked over to Afton and sat near her. She pulled out her wand, parchment, and quill and begin to wait for class. |
raises her hand. "I heard that a boggart is considered a dark creature, is it or not?" Taylor tilts her head to the side because she is curisis. |
Lizzy waves hand in air again. "Kelpies, they're dark. And Nogtails! And Kappas!" |
