Not far from the entrance of the fifth-floor corridor stands a statue of Boris the Bewildered. Even though there is a statue present in dedication to the man, not much is known about him these days. Just by looking at his expression, it appears that he is either very lost or someone just Confunded him. Though, perhaps, this observation will not come as a surprise to you. After all, the old man is wearing his gloves on the wrong hands.

Hopefully you are faring significantly better than the statue standing before you. In general the statue is used as a landmark for prefects and Quidditch captains, serving as a gentle reminder that their exclusive bathroom is just a few doors down. If you are not a student leader, however, the statue might be viewed as yet another of those silly things that reside inside the castle and be deemed as something not worth investigating further. Though, if you ever need a casual meeting place, Boris will always be there to help you out even if he hasn't got a clue who you even are.

Despite it being her fourth year at Hogwarts and with all the exploring she had completed over her time at the school, Aurora had never taken the time to really look at some of the strange art installations throughout the corridors. The paintings had always made sense, the portraits had personalities of their own and could tell you their stories but some of the statues were so odd and had nothing to go by that she had been forced to determine the backstories herself.

Take old Boris here, the statue with his gloves on the wrong hand. Poor Boris was obviously SO confuzzled in his day that he hadn’t even noticed how uncomfortable it must be to have your little fingers in your thumb holes and vice versa. He also had his commemorative instillation in what the Ravenclaw would describe as the quietest corridor in the school. She was sure that Ancient Runes could be very interesting to those who understood them but unfortunately the blonde didn’t fall under that bracket and therefore that particular floor had remained fairly untraversed.

How she had managed to make her way there that day she wasn’t sure. It must’ve been her feet simply taking her where they wanted to go without directly thinking about it. They had stopped her right in front of the statue that she was now gazing up at with that curious head tilt puppies did when they were confused by something.

'Strange art installations' was a really modern way to describe the centuries-old (she assumed) statues and such at this school. Zara was really more of a landscape artist herself; though she did dabble in portraits every now and then, she had yet to try her hand at sculpture, like old Boris here. Actually, she would much rather try her hand at sculpting little miss Jr. Bewildered, the pretty pet she'd met over the summer, than old Boris with his dumb gloves.

"Whatcha doing?" Zara wondered aloud, sidling up to Aurora and joining her in a head tilt of her own. Only while Zara was looking at Boris, Zara was looking at her.

Aurora was not an artist by any means and describing others art was clearly not one of her fortes. The most she would say was that something was ‘pretty’ or ‘interesting’ or if it was something she didn’t like but was too afraid of causing offense it would be ‘unusual’. None of that emotive nonsense that art critics made over something as simplistic as a banana taped to a gallery wall, she was either too stupid or too confused to understand.

Not that Hogwarts had anything THAT strange in its hallways. Boris was.. a choice. One that the Ravenclaw was yet to truly understand but she was presently working on it. So engrossed was she in developing a backstory that she didn’t heard the footsteps approaching until that someone was stood directly by her side. “Hi Zara” she smiled as she turned her head to look at her fellow fourth year with the most incredible hair. “How long has this been here? I don’t think I’ve ever stopped to really look at it.” Truly she had no reason to but she didn’t think she was so unobservant that there was something quite so large that she had managed to miss.

A banana taped to a wall was a brilliant use of artistic expression, in Zara's mind, but she would have loved to hear Aurora's thoughts nonetheless.

"My guess is 600 years," Zara answered seriously, dropping a hand in her pocket as she studied the subject studying the statue. "I think almost everything at Hogwarts is older than dirt, except maybe the portraits in the Headmaster's office." Because those were updated after every new head honcho, no?

She flipped some hair over her shoulder and asked something somewhat related to the topic of their very old and very quirky school. "Is it true your common room is round?"
