If you suffer from FOMO or just want to be in the involved with everything, then the middle passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what you did this summer, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by reading your textbooks, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.
Still in shock that one of the older kids randomly chose her as their compartment mate, Delilah sat in silence for a few seconds. Finally, she nodded in reply to his question. "Yeah, I'm a first year. It's my first term going anywhere actually," she said. As an afterthought, she added, "Homeschooled until now." In a way, she was kind of relieved that her mom had chosen to homeschool her. This way, Delilah had been exposed to a little bit of magic (although in theory only) and wouldn't be arriving at Hogwarts looking and acting like a complete and total newbie.
"Oh, yeah," she said, replying to his last question. "I've pretty much been waiting on this day for years. My mom's a witch. Dad's a muggle. We weren't even sure I'd have magic abilities until this one day at the park." Now that had been a day to remember, and thankfully all the muggles had blamed it on the non-existent wind. "So what year are you in?" she asked, trying to move along the conversation. He was at least a fourth year. Maybe even a sixth year.
Having multiple younger sisters, and befriending students a few years younger than him, made Evan quite comfortable with the younger years. Maybe more so than the current sixth and seventh years. Particularly now that Claudine had already graduated and moved on. "Oh? Are you nervous at all about a school?" He'd gotten to go to muggle school before Hogwarts. And truthfully, he couldn't imagine not getting to have peers to discuss things with. "Do you know much about Hogwarts already?"
Seemed like she might have anyways, especially if she was already excited. The first thing Evan had done was find ALL the books he could about Hogwarts once he knew of his magical abilities. "What happened at the park that clued you in?" His magic hadn't been all that interesting, just books he was interested in but couldn't reach coming down to him. But... gently, not in like a knocked off the shelf by bumping it type of way. "I'm a fifth year this term. I've been here since my first so.. if you have any questions or need to find something, let me know and I'd be happy to assist."

Was she nervous at all? Delilah shrugged. "Not really," she admitted. "I mean, I might be just a little nervous, but I'm mainly excited." Truth be told, she was already missing her mom and dad, but she'd keep that thought to herself. Since she'd been homeschooled, she'd rarely ever been away from home, and now she was going super far away for a really long time. "Okay, well, maybe I am nervous. I'm wondering what house I'll be in, if I'll have a lot of friends, and if I'll be able to do all the spells." She'd seen her mom do magic for years, but there was nothing like actually casting that magic yourself.
She nodded. "That's the main reason my mom homeschooled me all these years. She taught me all the basics, but she also taught me a lot about Hogwarts and magic, even if I could only watch and listen," she explained. She grew a little more animated as Evan asked about the time she'd accidentally cast a little magic in the park. "You know how most people have that one moment in their childhood when they accidentally cast magic? And then that's how they know they're not a squib or something?" she asked. "Well, that was my moment. Mom and I were at the park, and somehow I was able to force a bunch of leaves and feathers straight up in the air...no wind or anything in sight. They made a show of raining down on all the people until they settled on the ground again. Mom and I knew it'd been me, but everybody else just blamed it on the wind that hadn't even been there."

Well he supposed that not being nervous at all was certainly a good thing. The excitement was much better to feel, a nicer thing to get to focus on. The first years just kept getting braver and braver it seemed. Was it already only two terms ago when he'd found V crying because she was sad to be leaving her dog? No tears in sight here. Thank merlin."Is there a house you want to be in? The people at Hogwarts are generally pretty nice too - it's easy to make friends or have conversations with people." And what was the other thing she mentioned? Spells? "The spell work can be difficult, but the Professor's have office hours and it's usually not anything that can't be overcome with hard work." And then if she really was still having issues, Evan's sister Maya did a lot of tutoring.
"That sounds really nice. Do the wizarding primary schools not go over magic theory or anything like that?" Were primary even the word that the English used? He might have lived here for a few years now, but he was still born and bred in the States. She grew so excited talking about her first magic event, he didn't have the heart to tell her he didn't really know much about that. Being muggleborn, he pretty much had expected all of the people around him - himself included - to not be able to do weird, supernatural and hard to explain things. "Isn't it lucky how quickly the mind is willing to come up with different explanations for things that are unnatural to them?" Like the wind. "That sounds really cool! Did your mom start your magical training immediately after that?"

‘Arden,’ Bonnie repeated. ‘That’s a lovely name, it’s nice to meet you too.’
She watched as the girl rummaged through her trunk. ‘Do you need some help to get your trunk up there?’
Arden looked about the same age as Bonnie but she was sure between the pair of them they’d manage.
As Arden held up the bottle of gold glitter, Bonnie’s eyes widened.‘Are you kidding me? I LOVE it!’ She beamed. ‘Id never have known you’d used more than planned, I think it looks perfect!’ Bonnie self consciously tucked a stray hair behind her ear. Ugh her hair was so boring, it was in two Dutch braids her mother had insisted on doing for her this morning. She could hear her now, ‘It’s important to make a good impression Bonnie, you don’t want to arrive looking like you’ve been dragged through a bush’.
Arden quickly shook her head. “No no no no NO. I want it to stay here. With me. So I can get in and out of it easily,” she then held up the jar closer to Bonnie. “I can try to do yours neatly if you waaaaaAnt!” She beamed and went to sit criss-cross next to her newest FRIEND.
“Okay. Where do you want the glitter? On your part on your head? In your plait?” She asked as she unscrewed the cap. There was absolutely NO possible way this could wrong even though it totally went wrong once…NOPE. NO POSSIBLE WAY. Arden tried not to constantly compare her hair to others, but it was hard when you had the puffiest curliest hair ever. She loved her hair most days! It was only recently she had started to notice other girls in DA had like…silky smooth straight hair.

If you already know your Hair is stunning when it's pink, why should I bother telling you something you know? There were plenty more and better things I could compliment you about. Hence Why I asked my original Question!" also because he knew it would touch a nerve ,and it did. So it worked.
"Pygmy Puffs. Fine whatever." It looked weird, but yeah...it looked cute too. "Do they all come as pink as you do, or are there varieties?" He raised an eyebrow at her. Wanting to see how she'd react.
"I only called Cotton a thing because I didn't know what HE was. There happy? Moose even used the Plimbyboofs name.
He stood up from across her then plopped down on the same seat beside her with the creature on her shoulder directly next to his own. "That's one problem solved." How difficult would it really be to let a small pink puffball sit on someone else's shoulder for a minute or two?
Was certainly taking notice of his face turning red in his true angry Moose fashion, so this did not come as a shock to the fifteen year old. Had grown so accustomed to their dynamic now at this point, almost felt as if there was not much left he could do to shock her. Well at least she thought so. "That's a laugh, since you enjoy imposing them regardless of what I might think of them! And who says that I don't care about that? Clearly it seems you don't know that Moose!" Only when it came to imposing opinions that lead to a predictable argument by him riling her up! She took in a deep breath preparing to shout back but was a little caught off guard by what he'd said.
So it would seem there was something he could shock her about. A little flustered as she recollected herself, "Well, maybe you might consider just being upfront with that if your intention was to compliment me instead of your usual tactic!" Suddenly in that moment Christianna had a flashing image of last term that lead to a very awkward conversation after yelling at each other.
Luckily however she did not dwell on that for too long because they were talking about Cotton instead, so phew, thoughts she did not need to think about for a bit. And look at that, he'd even managed to say the name properly as she told him, look at him listening. Christianna could feel her body easing up a bit when he began to ask..proper questions about her pink companion. "Well no, their fur can either be pink or purple.." It was such a shift in their conversation she was not prepared, but did in fact make her smile when Moose acknowledged Cotton's proper pronouns. "At least you know now then.."
Christianna blinked as Moose abruptly got up after giving him her excuse and plopped down right beside her with his shoulder right against hers, with Cotton in between them. Letting out a light scoff, "Well that may be one problem solved, but that still doesn't mean that he's going to-", before she could even finish her sentence, to her astonishment, she watched as Cotton almost immediately waddled from her shoulder onto his as if it was nothing. "....He's never...Done that before.." Looking up at Moose slowly in shock.
