Hufflepuff Common Room Once you get through the barrels you will enter a very warm and comfortable common room. The Hufflepuff common room is decorated in the gold and black of the house colors with the walls a nice warm honey with an accented black line in the middle of each wall. The fire place on the end brings warmth in the winter to all that sit in the over sized comfy couches and chairs. Black and gold beanbags sit along the wall for anyone wanting to study in groups as well as two larger badger stuffed animals that are the best to use as a pillow if you are lounging on the floor. On the far left wall right in between the two openings that lead to either the boy or girl dorms hangs a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff, while smaller portraits of famous Hufflepuffs can be found scattered around the other walls. Sitting on a table you can find a small radio for any puff that wants to relax and enjoy some music together. Whether you are here to study or make memories with friends the common room is always a great place to sit back and relax after a long day of classes. |
open to anyone There was a part of her that wanted to immediately start studying for OWLs, but for now Cailyn was trying to avoid it. As it was, she felt confident enough that she knew the material that studying would have been more for her own fun than anything else, but it didn’t mean she was going to just depend on her existing knowledge. Plus, there’d be the new subjects that might be introduced in lessons this term. All the more reason to pause the studying the tiniest bit. Besides, she had other books that were just as interesting, including the one she was currently ensconced in one of the oversized chairs near the fireplace reading. The same novel she’d been reading during the opening feast, at least until the food had arrived. The petite fifteen-year-old was rather immersed in said world of the novel, rather oblivious to anything else going on in the common room at the moment. It wasn’t relevant to lessons, exactly, but Merlin and those legends were always fascinating, to her at least. |

Gemma felt older if that was even possible to feel, but being a sixth year did something to a person, or at least she felt it did. She walked a little taller than she had the past few terms and she was ready for term. Her brother had graduated and she was the only Kitridge at the school, she would do well with this. Headed to the common room she saw a few people there reading. Reading? Really? Though Gemma loved to read and write, it was just to soon to start all that so she flicked her wand and got some music going. "Come on guys, lets celebrate coming back, not reading and studying already. We have all term for that." Yes, for now, they should all just have fun. |
"Gemma's right," Jude declared, arriving at the common room having just jumped the last three steps of the staircase from the boys' dorms. He landed gracefully on his feet, something which pleased him. Clearly all his hours of dancing had added gracefulness to his physical appearance. "We could build a pillow fort or something." Jude grinned at Gemma and Cailyn then reached out to poke his cousin on the arm. "No one likes to be disturbed when they're reading, Lil." Jude did a pirouette quite neatly because he was he was happy to be among friends. This meant that he wouldn't be feeling that emotional turmoil he had been struggling with lately. "So. Anyone want to build a fort? Do some dancing?" The fourth year was up for anything! |
"Did someone say pillow fort?!" Keighley exclaimed in a burst of cheerful glee as she bounded down the remainder of the steps from the girls common room. "Me! I do, I do!" She wanted in on the pillow fort making and the dancing and whatever it was all the older cooler kids were going to be doing. "Hiya, Lily!" Keigh waved at her cousin and smiled at the two older girls (Cailyn & Gemma) who's names she couldn't really remember at the moment. The small blonde second year beamed at her big brother watching him do a perfect pirouette. He was getting so good at those! "Dance with me, Jude! Pleeeeeeeease?!" Big puppy dog eyes and an adorable pouty lip was given towards him. There was noway he would be saying no to her. She wasn't the best dancer, martial arts was much more her style but whenever her brother mentioned dancing she would take him up on the offer. Honestly, she would pretty much agree to anything when it came to spending time with her siblings. |
Freshly-turned eleven-year-old Aiden Lockwood came down the steps of the boys dormitory after a very long struggle. Hogwarts robes were NOTHING like his HOME clothes....The tiny boy's mother had dressed him in his robes before he had gotten on the train the first time, and he really didn't know how to do them by himself. Now, he had finally gotten them on, though had somehow managed to get them both inside out AND backwards. Still the boy felt like he had made a very big accomplishment. "Hello...." he said, holding his teddy bear Wally as he always was. The Hufflepuffs would soon find out that Aiden went NOWHERE without Wally. That bear was attached to him at all times. But of course he was! Wally was his best friend! Now what? Mommy had said make friends. How did you make friends? Aiden was kind of tired since he hadn't slept like really at all cause he'd been homesick all night and that had made him cry. But now it was a new day...and Aiden wanted to try his best. "Im Aiden!" he said to nobody in particular. He looked around. Everybody was being kind of wild. But there was a nice boy who had talked to him yesterday at the feast (Jude). And a girl who was reading. "What's that...?" Aiden asked, pointing at the girl's book and looking up at her curiously. |

everyone :P She’d hardly expected to be alone for long. Nor had Cailyn expected to be able to read in peace for long, even if she’d somehow managed it a bit during the feast. There were plenty other things to focus on then: the professors, the other house tables, and now it was just limited to her fellow Puffs. She had glanced up at Lily as the fourth year had perched on the edge of her chair, marking her page with a finger even as she’d tilted it for the other girl to look at in answer to the question. She’d grinned after a moment, too. “Kinda. It’s Arthurian legends from the viewpoint of the female characters,” she began, even as others had joined them and her green eyes had flickered over to Gemma. This was exactly her reasoning behind not jumping straight into OWL studying, but she hardly equated pleasure reading with studying. “Oh, I didn’t mind,” she responded to Jude as they’d been joined by him. And another, and another. It was starting to seem like an actual party. “And maybe I’ll dance in a second.” He’d found a partner in his little sister as it was. They could hardly build a pillow fort and dance at the same time. “Hi Aiden,” she added, giving the first year boy a smile even as she’d also given Keighley one as well. Everyone would be included. “I’m Cailyn, welcome to Hufflepuff.” And this was Lily, and Gemma, and Jude and Keighley. Hufflepuffs weren’t normally this crazy, although she’d laughed at Lily’s response, even as she stuck a quill in the book to mark her page so she could set the book down. “It’s a Muggle novel called The Mists of Avalon,” she added, tucking said thick novel away in the corner of the chair for safekeeping as she uncurled herself to prepare to stand up. “We could always go see if the elves are willing to spare some snacks for a party?” Odds are they would be. The elves usually were. |
She was glad everyone liked her idea and made sure the music was up a bit louder. Hopefully her aunt wouldn't mind a little party and if she did Gemma wasn't really caring and just wanted to have fun. Hearing someone say about a fort she just laughed, "You could use all the cushions and the blankets that are usually in the basket in the corner or we could get sheets off the beds." That sounded fun and all, but the music and chilling was more her style. As for food that wouldn't be a bad idea, "I think finding an elf would be great, maybe they will hear the music being so close or we could pop over there and see if they are around." Seeing a few first years she grinned, "Welcome to Hufflepuff" Flopping into a chair in the corner she felt successful at this little party she started. |
Jude was already feeling the music. It rarely took him long to get into the beats. Though he was mainly into ballroom dancing, the fact did not stop him from having more contemporary moves. He came to a halt, having completed his pirouette and he came face to face with his younger sister. “Keigh!’’ He extended his left hand to her. Keigh’s cute puppy eyes would never cease to melt his already soft heart. Hand still held out, he looked around at Aiden and his teddy. There still wasn’t any judging about having a teddy bear all about the Castle on Jude’s part. “Hey, Aiden. Do you dance?” Lily was quite welcome to nip at his finger anytime Jude poked her. Really, he didn’t mind. He laughed instead at the comment. “Well, if Reagan were here, you’d be even more entertained because she’s slightly taller than I am.” And the entire Anders/Donovan family knew that Reagan was his main dance partner right now. “Would you like a turn, Lil? I’ve got two arms.” Jude wiggled his brows at her. “Cailyn? You owe me a dance then.” Because it seemed as though it was indeed dancing they were going to do for now. The entire fort idea was still on his mind because afterwards, the Puff would like nothing more than to collapse on soft pillows and was glad that Gemma seemed to have taken the lead on that. |
Beezley had heard some music and noise coming from the common room and with the students in there Beezley thought maybe some would be hungry. So she popped in with a tray of snacks and looked around. "Would the students like some food?" |
The music in the room suddenly got louder and there was still some talk about the blanket forts but Keighley's main focus at the moment was on her big brother and his outstretched hand. Placing her smaller hand into his, she closed her fingers around his. "Let's dance!" As always she waited on Jude to begin. Bright blue eyes that matched her bright smile fell upon Aiden and his teddy bear. "Hi! I'm Keighley! Do you want to dance with us? Your teddy bear can dance with us too." Everyone was welcome to dance. A sudden 'pop' and the presence of a house elf (Beezley) caught the second years attention almost as fast as the mention of 'food'. "Oooooh, yes, please!" |
Jude had no idea what dance to get started with. He’d just wing it. That method could be just as fun as a planned one; not to mention he would get to switch things up when the songs changed. Changed songs equalled changed beats, after all. His fingers closed around Keigh’s hand and he raised their hands to spin her. Hey, it wasn’t necessary they follow the beat, yeah? The fourth year almost missed the arrival of Beezley. Snacks! Neat! This truly was turning into a party! “Hi! What have you got there?” Dancing usually made Jude work up an appetite so the snack would be helpful for him. And would you know it? In these small moments, the boy had forgotten all about his emotional turmoil. It was the first in a long time. |
Well look at that. How they could always just depend on the elves to know when they needed them. It was a gift if Gemma had ever seen one and honestly the family she came from she had seen things, mostly weird things, but things. "Snacks would be great Beez, want to set them down and party with us?" Getting up Gemma started dancing to the music that had just switched to a more upbeat song that she liked to dance to. "You know what would make this even better?" She grinned at everyone before lifting her wand and making it snow. Her aunt was probably not going to be happy, but she'd burn that bridge if it came. |
