First Quidditch Match Hufflepuff/Slytherin

:ballcap: The stands look like their just about full and most of the Hogwarts student body has arrived. Spots sends an owl to the Quidditch Announcer that it seems finally all is in place and the Firtst Quidditch of the term may begin.

NOTE: chatting in the Quidditch thread will not be tolerated, so please no posts like "so and so seeker floats over the Pitch waiting to see the Snitch" and remember NO editing of any kind, if you make a mistake....too bad. A coin toss prior to the start of this match by the Headmaster determined that Hufflepuff will get the first Quaffle question then Slytherin, and so on and so on....Good Luck!!! (also remember, if there's a Beater question offered, then it's to the team who is NOT answering the Quaffle question)

Sir_Spots 10-23-2004 01:35 PM

“Good afternoon Students, Professors, Headmaster and Ministry guests, my name is Flexio Magnusto, and I will be your announcer for this term’s Quidditch Matches. Today we feature the first Match of the term between the teams representing the Houses of Hufflepuff and Slytherin.”

A loud roar of support rose with the names of each of the two Houses. The announcer then turned towards the crowd again….

“Today’s match is being brought to you by Alivan’s Wands, Makers of Fine Handcrafted Magic Wands, remember…..the wand chooses its owner, choosey owners choose Alivan’s. And also by Weasley’s Wizarding Wonders, connoisseurs of Special Magic Accessories, see their stores in Diagon Alley and announcing their new location in Hogsmeade.”

As the two teams began entering the Pitch from opposite sides, another cheer rose up and the announcer’s voice could just barely be heard, he turned to face the Headmaster and nodded, the Headmaster nodded back his approval and the announcer stood up.

“And now may I present to you this term’s Quidditch Official, recently granted the special title if Knighthood from the Ministry, Sir Theodore “Spots” Puppington”

Spots moved to the center of the circle in the middle of the Pitch calling attention to the two opposing Captains, “now, I would like this to be a fair match, I will let the announcer do the play calling but I will be officiating.” He reached down and pulled out the small golden ball from the old leather trunk. As he lifted it up, he briefly held it next to the ghostly Snitch he permanently held in his other hand and compared the two. The real snitch stretched its wings and Spots looked one last time to the Headmaster who once again smiled and nodded his approval, Spots released the Golden Snitch that briefly hovered above him and then sped away out of sight. Spots then grabbed the reddish-brown Quaffle and, looking up to the two sets of teams floating just above him, he blew his whistle and gave the Quaffle a great toss up into the air.

What is Blagging?

A foul that can be caused by any player, in which you seize an opponents broom to slow or hinder them.

The whistle is blown and Spots call the Captains together, "according to my roster lists, JessieHeart is listed only on your reserve team list not on your starting seven. YOur chasers are listed as Aprodite, Shauna, and Lilbitmore. Therefore since an ineligible player answered the question, the shot misses the next question will go to Hufflepuff."

:ballcap: Captains, this is the second violation by Slytherin to have an out of position player answer a question, I was lenient the first time but I'm afraid I will have to impose the rules which state that if an out of position player (in this case reserve team player answering a question) the opposing team is given a penalty shot and awarded 25 points.

"and in fact, yes! there's the shot and the Hufflepuff chaser scores the 25 point penalty shot and the score now goes to 35-20 Hufflepuff. The next Quaffle question goes to Slytherin"

To block the quaffle: 10 am

Sir_Spots 10-26-2004 02:40 AM

"this announcer is besides himself, I've never seen anything like it in my days......at one end, we have thet Hufflepuff Keeper making a succesful block on the Slytherin shot....and at the other an unbelievable catch of the second Snitch by the Slytherin Seeker Reign, she had to hang from her broom to get that one folks...I hope those of you who have omniocculars will be replaying that one for quite awhile..........well....whew.......let's see I think that means that one more Snitch for the Slytherin team and this Match is over.......and I guess that also means that the next Quaffle question goes to Hufflepuff."

Sir_Spots 10-26-2004 02:44 AM

:ballcap: Spots takes over the announcing for this question, it seems our regular announcer is catching his breath......let's see......oh yea Quaffle question to Hufflepuff:

Sir_Spots 10-26-2004 02:59 AM

"ladies and gentleman, you are truly witnessing one of the most defensive matches I've seen as the Slytherin Keeper block another goal, I wonder if the Hampstead Hurricanes know about her yet.........so the score remains the same and the Quaffle goes to Slytherin."

Sir_Spots 10-26-2004 03:13 AM

Sir_Spots 10-26-2004 05:48 PM

:ballcap: "Although the posts seem out of order, I did approve the line-up change in the Captain's Locker room prior the post so the new Slytherin Chaser's shot was successful and Slytherin get 10 points."

She-Who-Is-Not-To-Be-Psycho! 10-26-2004 06:06 PM

Quaffle: Spattergroit is a malady which causes a person to develop spots on their face. (Ron was thought to have it by a healer portrait in St. Mungo's who was mistaking his freckles with it --note: we might suspect it was not a real disease &/or ancient.)

Sir_Spots 10-26-2004 06:38 PM

"this new chaser seems to be on their game.....their second shot of the match ....and they score again! So that makes the score 80-55 Slytherin. The next question will go to .......wait, Sir_Spots is quickly approaching from the Captain's Locker room....."

Sir_Spots 10-26-2004 06:46 PM

:ballcap: "thank you once again Mr. Magnusto, ladies and gentlemen, in a decision supported by both Captains, I have an announcement to make regarding the next apperance of our beloved Golden Snitch.

In association with the Ministry of Magic, Department of Games and Sportsmanship, I have been given the authority to announce, in advance, when the Golden Snitch will appear next. Mind you this is not the exact time but it will appear within this four hour window of time. This move is designed to help assist the Captains with their substitutions and not meant as an act that will duely give either team an advantage. If the next Snitch is captured by Hufflepuff, therefore giving each team 2, I will announce another window when the Snitch will appear.

The next Golden Snitch will appear tonight between 7pm-11pm (east coast US timezone)
good luck and now back to the Match....."

Quaffle question to Hufflepuff:

What was Harry first present, while at Hogwarts, from the Dursleys?

During Harry's first Christmas at Hogwarts he recieved a note from the Dursleys saying, "We recieved your message and enclose your Christmas present. From Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia." Taped to the note was a fifty-pence piece.

Sir_Spots 10-26-2004 11:20 PM
