Lesson Two: Why am I itchy? The room is dimly lit as you come into the Divination Tower, the feel is very much like it has been since that first lesson. The light music and happy smells are no longer there and just a enough candle light is around the room. As you enter you don't see anything special anywhere that could clue you into what the lesson might be about. Instead you see desks and Professor Kitridge standing at the front of the room. The board behind her has one question, why do we feel itchy? OOC: Hey guys, we are going to say this lesson happened IC before the war! Class has started! |
Kinsay used to hurry from class to class, she really did. But all of that changed when She paused as she made her way into the room, stopping to consider the question on the board and almost answering it outloud, before stopping herself. She wasn't sure what would get her into trouble these days. Instead, she settled for a quiet nod of the head and a soft, "Hi, professor," before making her way to a seat. She hoped Professor Kitridge would let them sit with their friends who weren't in the room. She missed them dearly. Especially Teddy, who she missed something fierce. |
It was true that Nem had never taken Divination, nor had any interest in the subject. That was still the case, but they were here anyway, just as they had shown up to a few of the recent Divination lessons. Inquisitorial Squad stuff, you know, extra eyes. Putting in a little extra work for the Big Man, even if it meant spending time in a class they'd never even considered taking as an elective. Might learn something worthwhile. Who knew. (Nem knew.) Strolling past Limpet to a seat at the very back of the dimly lit classroom, where they could sit alone and keep an eye on everyone else, Nem pulled their bag off their shoulder and swung it neatly under the desk. They dropped into a chair, tilted back on two legs, and stared right ahead at Kitridge, apparently ignoring the question on the board entirely. |
Noah was, honesty, drained at this point emotionally and physically. The Room was beginning to take a toll on him as much as he'd like to hide it..... He was doing a poor job hiding it and putting on a brave face. At this point, doom & gloom was his norm. So he just walked into the room, nodded at the Professor, before stopping when he saw the question. ...HUH? .... "uh, Hi Professor.... Intriguing question..." he commented. It was all he could offer at this point before he headed to find a seat in the classroom. Why do we feel itchy? he repeated in his mind. Easy. Allergies or Dust Mites... he thought, before taking a sit somewhere in the middle of the classroom. He really didn't feel like talking today.... He'd rather be in his own world.... At least in his own world, he couldn't get himself or anyone in trouble. |
Quinn had absolutely no idea what itching had to do with Divination. This class always seemed to surprise him, though, so he tried to keep an open mind. "Hello, Professor," Quinn greeted, taking an empty seat. He didn't ponder much on the question in front of him, instead choosing to focus on the question in his mind—how could they escape The Room™? He had been thinking about that gross little window, and how it seemed like the best chance. Bubble-head Charm... maybe gillyweed..? But the pressure of the lake... there's probably more advanced spells that would help with that... but how would he plan with people outside the Room if his outside time was supervised..? |
Bella draged her feet as she took the many stairs up to the Divination Tower. She didn't feel good either emotionally or physically. These Neo-Alliance folks were now giving her nightmares and not to mention that she missed her housemates that were stuck in the Room. But what really put Bella down was being cut off from family for so long. She missed her sister and parents like crazy. With her dark haired head cast down Bella entered the Divination classroom. Eventually she raised her head to peer around at setting. There wasn't much to see except for a question about itchyness. Shrugging she took a seat at one of the desks after greeting Professor Kitridge with a quiet. "Hello, professor Kitridge! Can we water scry today?" |
Being escorted around was like second nature to her now. Most of the time, Lia didn't even focus on it unless one of 'them' got a little to close. Divination wasn't her best subject and it probably showed throughout the course of the year but she was trying. Plus every lesson attended was time out of that Room. It was in complete silence and a steady pace that Dahlia walked from The Room all the way up to the divination tower. Her head was kept down, blue eyes fixed on the ground in front of her feet. Only did she allow herself to look up once she stepped into the room. "Hello, Professor Kitridge," she greeted quietly offering up what she hoped was a half decent smile. Without much thought she choose the first empty seat and sat down, sliding her bag from her shoulder and setting it under her chair for the time being. A quick glance was given to the question on the board but that was all. |
Curtis was here... mostly. His physical presence, though what was going on in his mind was another matter. Isolation wasn't a stranger to him, but that was when he had control. Control slipped away by the day with him as of now. "Hello... Professor." Curtis was exhausted. He slept most of the time and that made him more tired than usual after enough lack of exercise. He did manage a hint of a smile at his godmother before taking his seat. Why do we feel itchy? Curtis read the board before privately thinking, Because we don't get to bathe enough. Could he say that? Nah, maybe once it was all over. |
Avalon missed the old Divination lessons. The ones with flowers and incense and creatures...and a snappy, peppy Professor Kitridge. She was sick of Rosier and all these awful people turning the castle into a prison. They sucked all the good out of everything. She absolutely hated it. And she was losing more and more hope every day that she would ever get out of here. "Hello Professor Kitridge," she greeted glumly, dragging her feet a bit as she made her way to an empty desk. Her eyes flicked up to the board briefly, but the question made no sense to her. And she didn't quite have the energy to ponder it at the moment, other than the fact that she was itchy to get out of Hogwarts and see her family again. So she stared straight ahead, simply waiting for class to begin. |
well well well Quote:
She let out a low sigh when she reached the top and looked around, missing the writing on the board. Her blue eyes landed on Kenzie and then on Nem, and naturally, she made a beeline his way, plopping into the seat next to him with a lot of gusto. "HI," she greeted the Slytherin with enthusiasm, noticing the chair tilting thing, of course, but instead slouuuuuuuuuching back in her desk. This was a nice change of scenery; Nem didn't usually go to Divination, right? Anyway. She almost smiled at them. "Wassup." |
Camryn was basically numb at this point. She had decided that she no longer cared about.....anything. She was in survival mode. She would survive Divination. She would survive Hogwarts. She would survive this indescribably horrible year. Entering the tower, she went into auto-pilot. “Hello Professor”, she said before sitting down at an empty desk. Noticing the board, Cam saw the question. Why do we feel itchy? Nope, she didn’t really care about that either. |
The Snakette shuffled further into the Divination classroom among her fellow Roomies and the chaperones. The classroom seemed so dreary without the hype that Kitridge usually brought to it, be it through the use of music or be it with her snaps. Claudine nodded to the woman at the front. “Hi, Professor.” Then her eyes shifted to the board. Itchy? Claudine wasn’t itchy. Little did she realise she actually started to scratch the palm of her left hand as she headed for the back of the class. |
Quote:
Taking a seat beside Bella, he nodded at her and the Professor, making note of the question on the board. Why did they feel itchy? "Bad karma. Like if you know something is wrong... you just ... " okay, he probably should leave it at that. He was doing good at keeping a low profile so far, why change it? |
Adam was...well, just kind of numb to everything at this point. He would normally be a bit optimistic that, with summer coming up soon, they'd be able to go home and get a break from all this, but even that seemed far-fetched in this crazy world they now lived in. So he just woke up, ate, went to class, and came back. Each and every day. Today was no exception, although he DID perk up a bit when he saw the question on the board. Itchiness? That was...not what he had been expecting when he stepped in to Divination today. Hmmm. |
Mamie wasn't a big fan of divination, but she was a big fan of Professor Kitridge. Even if she didn't get to stay in the Hufflepuff dorm anymore, she was still a Hufflepuff. She tried not to look happy as she trod up all the stairs from the deepest of the dungeons to the divination tower. Why hadn't wizards invented some sort of magical escalator? It would make Hogwarts much easier to get around. She took a seat next to Kinsay, and stared at the board. She hadn't been itchy before, but now she was. She scratched at her arm, wondering why. |
With all the things that were going on with the Neo-Alliance, Devin was finding it very difficult to focus on lessons. How could he possibly pay attention to learning things that he might not even need to know for whatever his future career ended up being when there was a very real, immediate threat right here in the castle? Even though he had been allowed to remain in his dorm and wasn’t watched quite as closely as some of his peers, that relative “freedom” meant nothing when most of his friends were locked up outside of lessons and he was just as much of a hostage of the Neo-Alliance as every other person in this school. His eyes were heavy from a lack of proper sleep and his body moved stiffly as he forced himself to keep going through the motions to get to class when really all he wanted to do was be home with his family, or at the very least hide somewhere where he could let his mind temporarily escape from the harsh reality of the situation. Devin couldn’t bring himself to say anything in greeting to the professor, but he did offer a rather forced smile. Why did he feel itchy? Well, he hadn’t felt itchy before seeing that question on the board but now thinking about being itchy was making him itchy. There was one answer to that question. After taking a seat, Devin scratched an itch that had popped up on his leg. |
She couldn't help but feel sad seeing the students coming into class. So many looked defeated and just not their usually selves and she couldn't help but worry about their growth they were not getting this term because of all of this and what the future held for each of them. SPOILER!!: Kinsay "Good Day Kinsay" She tried to smile for the students, but she just couldn't get herself to snap, it just wasn't something that could happen since that meeting in the headmaster's office. She still felt the pain even if it wasn't there. SPOILER!!: Nem There is always a moment in a professor's life where they feel they might have connected with someone, this was a moment she dreamed about, but wasn't sure it was the exact moment, but seeing Nem move into her room made Cassie stand a little taller. She knew the rumors of their alliance, but she couldn't help but hope she might be the reason Nem had started coming to her class. Maybe, just maybe this could be one of those moments. SPOILER!!: Noah "Why thank you Noah, I do enjoy an interesting start to a lesson with a question that might make you think." She wouldn't say more, but it did bring a small smile to her face. SPOILER!!: Quinn "Hello Quinn, I hope you are finding something bright to look towards today." Always look for the helpers children, always look for the light in the dark. SPOILER!!: Bella "No, no water today, but maybe in a different lesson we could do that." She had plenty of material for that in the future. SPOILER!!: Lia "Hello Dahlia, I'm glad you made it today." She wanted them all to know she was glad they were there. SPOILER!!: Curtis Cassie tried hard all term to keep her eyes on all the students, but seeing her godson in her class always gave her a sigh of relief knowing he was alright and just getting the extra moment to check on him. It was like that for her own children as well. "Good day Curtis" SPOILER!!: Avalon "Hello Avalon, good to see you today." SPOILER!!: Bernie If there was one thing Cassie was glad to see it was that Bernie still looked like she had a pep in her step. She smiled as the girl headed for her seat and moved to the next. SPOILER!!: Camryn "Hello Camryn, hope you are well." It was hard to ask if they were well knowing that many were going through so much. SPOILER!!: Claudine "Good Day Claudine" She gave the girl a small smile. SPOILER!!: Apollo "That is a great answer and one I want you to hold on to for when we get started." She liked that he was already thinking about what could be answers to today's lesson. SPOILER!!: Adam Seeing Adam walk in she gave the boy a nod as he headed for a seat. SPOILER!!: Mamie Oh Mamie, as the girl walked in Cassie had the urge to hug her. She had a few conversations with the child as she observed walks and other times and Cassie was feeling more protective of her puffs even more than before. SPOILER!!: Devin Seeing the final person come into the tower Cassie gave a smile to Devin before turning to the rest of the class to get the lesson started. "Good day class, I think we are all here and can get started. I hope you are ready for a unique sort of lesson. I want to leave the topic of divination forms and just speak about your thoughts on the universe and how it fits in with all of our lessons." She moved about the class and looked at all the students. "I have always said divination is all around us, with as many forms as we have, one can say this subject is all just made up or that we just get what responses we want, but my question before we fully jump in is, what do you truly think? Does divination help us because the universe is always giving signs to help us along our path or are you one that just feels that diviners have simply used the universe to just get the reading they wish to get?" There was no wrong answer and she was an open person and didn't mind if some or all didn't think her subject was actually something they fully believed in. She knew how she believed and she knew that some would see the truths. **we will move on in about 24 hours! |
Morgan was unsure what day it was, let alone what class he was suppose to be in at any given moment. Time just blurred together into one endless ordeal, being in that room most of the time. So normally he followed his year mates when it was time to be let out for school. Most times he ended up in the right place, or at least it seemed that way. And he realized that he was meant to be in Divination once they reached the top of the castle. "Hello, Professor," he greeted Kitridge politely, his voice almost robotic as he was running on autopilot these days. But he soon narrowed his eyes as he noticed Nemesis already there when he walked in to find a seat. What were they doing in Divination? Morgan was sure they didn't take the class as he'd never seen them here, so they were probably here to rat anyone else out who didn't mind their p's and q's. "Nothing better to do, Nemesis?" he asked oh so politely with just a tinge of annoyance underlying his tone. But he didn't wait for answer as he kept walking before sitting in an empty seat. Bernie still seemed awfully chummy with them which was curious. But Morgan was not going to keep letting Nemesis live rent free in his head Thankfully he wasn't sitting long before class started and he barely gave the question any thought before raising his hand. "I think people hear what they want to hear and can just read into anything they want to get the answers they want." Skeptical? Yeah, he was these days. |
Thoughts of how the universe fits in with the lessons? Okay, there was the start to the lesson that they weren’t used to. Anyway. Claudine considered the questions and took her time to put her thoughts together. Over the course of her five years at Hogwarts, her opinion on Divination was in the middle; there wasn’t much believe in the subject but then she couldn’t explain how that one time she and the rest of the class had managed to summon a ghost the other term. So, coming back to the question… The Snakette sat back in her chair thoughtfully. Up went a hand after sometime. “I think Diviners use the universe to get their readings.’’ Claudine did not wish to elaborate her thoughts. She didn't have the energy. |
She wouldn’t say more? Noah nodded. Right! No spoilers. He offered Professor Kitredge a small smile. Class shortly began thereafter and he focused on the question that she had posed the class. Wait.... what did this have to do with being itchy? The boy bit his lip, wishing that he had Aboli beside him to offer a perspective. She was amazing at Divination..... Absolutely amazing at it. He wished he could have been that good at it. He remained silent at first, listening to his peers comments. At Morgan’s comment, he found himself nodding in agreement. Yes, people chose to interpret what they wanted too... That was true.....And Claudine’s comment about diviner’s using the universe to get readings made sense to him. He wanted to connect it to horoscopes and talk about how muggles looked to astrology- well some- like his cousin LIVED off of his prophesied horoscope to tell them how to seize the day... How would Aboli answer the question? He tried to think through the questions she had prompted him with two years when they had studied for Divination OWLS together back in the library. As he mulled over the question, he found himself having a moment of realization. Things started to click. What if the universe was like on of his Dad’s coworkers? The two of them couldn’t speak the same language and needed someone to interpret it... maybe divination was like that? He raised his hand. “I think the universe is giving us signs of what’s happening around us.... Divination is the...” What was the right word he wished to use? Ah yes! “Tool for us to interpret it. It’s almost like we speak two different languages. The first is the universe which may do it through omens... And the diviner comes in and interprets the language through the use of divination.” |
Quinn was dragged from his thoughts as he heard Morgan's remark towards Nem. Quinn hadn't even noticed them come in, or even if they were here before Quinn was. Being reminded of Nem's existence made Quinn's blood boil. He knew Nem wasn't to be trusted, Bernie just didn't want to believe it. And then they're the reason that Ash got... got something-ed. He wasn't sure if Ash or any of the others were even still alive... and that was Nem's stupid fault. Today had just turned into an angry day. And yet, Quinn couldn't do anything about it. Nem could just as easily kill him as any of the Alliance—considering they were in it. Quinn tapped his foot in annoyance of Nem's mere presence in the room as the Professor made her introduction to the lesson. Quinn wasn't sure if he thought Divination was real, but he knew he didn't drop a rock on his foot for nothing. And the bad omen was all too right. "I don't know. I think it could be. But some people who call themselves diviners are definitely fakes. And who knows if you're subconsciously pushing yourself towards a certain outcome now that you've gotten the reading, like a self-fulfilling-prophecy-type thing—now that you think it's going to happen, you unintentionally make it happen. It's really up for interpretation. But, if it works for some people, then it works for them," he shrugged. |
Huh. What did this whole questioning the legitimacy of signs have to do with itchiness? Maybe they were going to learn that being itchy was some kind of sign? This stuff about the universe sounded deep. Too deep for his mind to fully contemplate right now. Perhaps in another time when he didn’t have to worry about if he and his friends would survive to see their families again he would have enjoyed this discussion more. ”Different people might interpret the same sign to have different meanings because they personally relate to it in a different way, and so they shape their understanding of it based on their own experiences. But I don’t think that means that signs from the universe don’t mean anything, just that the meanings of divination are different for everyone.” He had no idea if that made sense or even if it adequately answered the question, but too much of his brain power was going to baseline survival right now for him to think any deeper about the universe. Honestly he had no idea on if divination really meant anything to him at all. There were much more pressing issues on hand in the present that needed to be sorted before he could worry about the future. It seemed rather pointless trying to predict the future when he wasn’t even certain that there would be one. |
There were times that Curtis wanted to really talk with his godmother again, alone. But it was limited to classes and outdoor escorts.. with other people present. Their greetings were just enough for now as he settled into the lesson beginning. What did he think about the first question? Given the right time, diviners will seek the answer they desire or happen upon a sign that the universe spell out. Curtis thought before answering, "It depends on the Diviner themselves. Some take advantage of the signs and twist them unto their own wishes," Works with just about anything really. "Perhaps those that don't believe came across too many undesirable readings." Somehow just saying this aloud, he felt something click in his head. There was something deeper behind this question. |
Camryn sat with her face in her hands, trying hard to maintain her “don’t care” attitude. She was listening as the professor spoke. The topic had taken a sharp turn from itching to Divination and the universe. Cam just wanted to sit there and think about happier times, happier things. However, she just couldn’t help herself. She had to answer. Raising her hand, Cam began to give her opinion.......albeit without enthusiasm. ”I think.......there are people who see signs in everything, real or not. They make up their own interpretations and believe they are true, even though they are not. But.....I do believe that the universe tries to help us out sometimes. It tries to tell us things that we need to know. I think there are some people, diviners, who really are in touch with the universe or whatever is out there and they can make sense of the signs.” Well that was a lot for someone who didn’t care. |
Kinsay sat quietly (which was strange) and properly (which was even stranger) as she waited for class to begin. She only looked over at Nemesis briefly as he strolled by. Nemesis made her feel a confused sort of way. It was hard, understanding her feelings. Especially when they all seemed to conflict. That's why her ultimate solution was to just stop thinking about it all together. Except. That never really worked because the more she told herself to stop thinking it - the more she did think it. See? Confusing. And she was doing it again. The thinking about it thing. So when Mamie came by to sit, Kizzy was desperate to think about anything else. She gave table-mate a sad sort of look. A I-hope-no-one-disappears-today sort of look. A everything-is-terrible and I-don't-even-like-divination sort of look. And then when class began, Kizzy turned her attention to Professor Kitridge instead. The question did help with distractions. Kinsay firmly believed that divination didn't actually work because nothing about it made sense. It wasn't science. No offense. Like Morgan said. Or like Quinn. Some people are fakers, Kinsay knew. Sometimes Kinsay thought maybe Professor Kitridge was a faker too. She couldn't say this, of course, because it might hurt her professors feelings, so instead, Kiz raised her hand to ask a question. An important one. "Professor? If divination really works, how come you didn't know terrible things were going to happen this year?" This.............. was meant to be said with more tact. |
Nem's eyes found Bernadette as she entered, and tracked her all the way to the seat beside them. "Hey." They tilted back an inch or two more, one foot hooked around a chair leg, while the toes of the other provided support and leverage. "Oh, the usual." Would only have been polite to ask the question in return, but Nem knew where Bernadette could usually be found these days. Really, it was a kindness that they didn't ask, and Nemesis Upstead was nothing if not terribly kind. Speaking of terribly kind, they shot a glance at the other Gryffindor, now passing by. "I'm here to learn, McCarthy," Nem replied, just as politely, and turned their eyes to the front of the room again. Ready to learn, see? Look. A question. And look. An answer. "You know, the universe doesn't give us anything, or try to help us. It's just there." So jot that down. "There are things available to be interpreted - signs and whatever, sure - but they aren't personally delivered. You have to see them and take them for yourself, if you even have the capacity to do so." A lot could be said for a method like that, in any context. Nem could be the one to say it, if they felt so inclined. The pin on their chest gleamed in the dim light of the nearest candle. "Anyway, Divination is a real branch of magic, that's fairly well-documented. But it's also inexact, and unreliable. There are plenty of diviners who make it up or see what they want to see, others who actually have decent intuition but not a clue how to use it, and others still who know how and when to tap into that intuition." Bona fide Seers were another kettle of kelpies entirely, as far as Nem was concerned, but they weren't going down that rabbit hole today. |
Good answer? Hold onto until they got started? Apollo wondered now if perhaps he wasn't meant to answer aloud just yet. Had anyone answered about the itchy question? He glanced around at his peers but no time to contemplate because it seemed they were getting started. The first year listened as Kitridge moved about the class, introducing today's topic. Divination is all around us? He tilted his head in contemplation because he wanted to believe that divination was real and yet there was a small part of his brain telling him that it's bologna. Wasn't it? He listened to his peers but there was something in Nemesis' tone that made Apollo re-think his answer. Inexact and unreliable? Was it really though if it was a real branch of magic? Using charms when done improperly was unreliable too, so Apollo was failing to see how that was any different? If one was properly trained and educated in the subject, it would just be as reliable as any other sort of magic branch. Wouldn't it? "There are set meanings to certain objects, so if you're choosing to see only certain objects it would be clear to see how some can get the answers they want. But that's probably true for any area of magic. Turning a blind-eye to certain aspects of magic because you want to believe that your way is the correct way. That your views are correct." Was he talking about more than just the Hogwarts subjects here? Perhaps. But hopefully vague enough that it wouldn't get him into trouble. |
Lia chewed the inside of her cheek in obvious thought. Or so she hoped it would look that way. Truthfully her mind was on everything but Divination right now. Like for instance, had she eaten breakfast this morning? She thought she had but she felt hungry. However, that was a normal occurrence over previous months. Giving her head a small shake to clear away her current thoughts and focus more clearly on the lesson, Lia also sat herself up a bit straighter in her chair. Now what were they talking about? Oh, right. Being itchy. Or not? The universe and Divination. Erm, okay, yes... right. This was something she could answer. Maybe. Hopefully. Dahlia slowly raised her hand. "Like some of my classmates have already said... I think it depends on the situation and who is interpreting it. Sometimes people will only see what they want to see, good or bad. Others might make things up to make it sound more interesting or to appeal more to those they're giving the information too." She took a small pause here to collect her own thoughts before continuing. "For instance I'm a triplet and while I look exactly like Lily and her and I as well as Elijah all are really simple, we all respond to the same thing differently." Much more could've been said to give a much more deeper meaning to her answer but she choose against it and fell quiet. |
Quote:
After answering Kitridge's question, she glanced back at the board again seeing the question and looks down at her arm. Oh the urge to itch was strrrrrrooooooooooong, but she closed her hand up into a fist and looked away from her arm to resist the urge...for as best as she can. Was it her mind just playing a trick on her? Was it because of her seeing the word "I t c h" that subconsciously she just started to feel itchy out of her nowhere? She couldn't help herself. She went back to scratching her arm. Ok, new plan...avoid looking at the board... And that was exactly what she was going to do...at least for now. |
Bella smiled as Apollo sat down in the seat beside her murmuring about bad karma and making no sense.. It was rare that they could sit together in class, so she was going to cherish this opportunity. When the class got started Bella took her time to listen to many of the other answers while she gathered her thoughts. Divination was a very new subject to her so she wasn't really sure how diviners saw or interpreted signs. Bella figured she had to say something though so she tentatively raised her hand as she answered. "I think the universe gives us signs to help us in our lives if we know where to look for them, and how to interpret them. I also think like some of my housemates have said already that many people give Divination a bad name if they twist the signs from the universe for the own gain and benefit instead of just reading them as they are." Like con-artist and fake fortune-tellers. |
Violet had just had it with school and the Room and the Neo-Alliance and pretty much everything in the world today. And she did not have the patience to try to pretend to like Divination--at least, not very much patience. When she saw the message on the board, she just hmphed to herself--'Why do we get itchy?' And now people were probably starting to feel itchy just from reading that. The power of suggestion, that's why. Violet gritted her teeth, determined NOT to feel itchy at all--mind over matter, that was all it took. The question, however, was another matter. "There may be some people who can read the intentions of the universe, but I think a lot of people just fool themselves, start to see a message in every single thing that happens, maybe see more into things than is really there." Because everything in the universe is not always about you, Violet thought. |
Cassie loved to hear the thoughts about divination no matter if they were good or bad and she liked the challenge of the bad, so hearing every point of view coming from her students was a delight. As a younger witch she might have closed up and not spoke more freely, but at her age she knew her stuff and was comfortable in her own abilities. SPOILER!!: Morgan Morgan being the first to answer and Cassie was ready, "You are very correct in some ways Morgan, people tend to be tone deaf to things they don't want to hear or that don't follow what they want. Words can be twisted in ways to make it seem they are going the way that a person wants, but at some point those that twist words end up realizing how much they can not change things that are set about them." SPOILER!!: Claudine "You are very right, diviners are people that have opened up their mind or the third eye per say and really watch the universe in all these different forms to come to find uniqueness in every aspect that could be giving a warning or just knowledge of something going on." There were the forms that looked at the past as well, but those weren't what today was about. SPOILER!!: Noah "Absolutely brilliant Noah, the way you worded that was very ideal. Diviners are interpreters and many have studied these forms for so long that they can speak all the forms and interpretations people need to find what they are looking for, whether it good or bad." SPOILER!!: Quinn "You are not wrong in some ways Quinn, don't we all have a few paths laid ahead of us and it the world gives us clues on which we should pick, but in the end our feet and actions will be the reason we go down one path or another. So if someone has it in their head something will happen they certainly will follow that path." SPOILER!!: Devin Devin got some nods, "People can tend to do that and it is just like learning something knew. We always connect it with things we already know so we can find a way to relate the information. Thankfully with divination there is guidance and information to help us form a reading based on others so that people can't just interpret things the way they want. " She knew that wouldn't work well if everyone just predicted everything correctly. SPOILER!!: Curtis Curtis got a nod, "Many have tried to form their own opinions and twist things the way they want. With divinations there is certainly ways to do that, but making a sign the way you want, doesn't mean that is what the sign actually means. Ones that don't believe do tend to make readings a joke, so I could see some doing this as well." SPOILER!!: Camryn She really liked this answer and gave a few nods, "You are very much on the right track with all of this. Diviners are in touch with the universe, because they spend so much time studying it and learning to connect to it. If you know what to look for you can always find your way, but isn't that the way with life, if you look for the wrong in everything you will find the wrong, if you look for the helpers, you will find the helpers?" SPOILER!!: Kinsay Cassie smiled at this, really smiled, "Many diviners have different gifts and talents. My talents lay in readings and creatures, but that doesn't mean I didn't see bad happening. In all readings the signs were there, but to pin point exactly what was going to take place would have taken a skill that I do not have and I am okay saying that." She was no Trelawney, though she wouldn't mind being one. SPOILER!!: Nem She highly enjoyed Nems answer and it showed in her smile. She wasn't sure she smiled this much in awhile. "They could be some opinions that the universe doesn't give us anything, but maybe one is just not seeing the repetitive signs in front of them." She would get to more of that in a bit, but for now she gave Nem a very excited nod. SPOILER!!: Apollo This first year was very in tune with today's class, had he looked at her lessons? "Very well put Apollo." She grinned without going into more. SPOILER!!: Lia "That is a very unique way to look at this topic and seeing how it relates to you." She enjoyed this answer too. Her students were all doing amazing today. SPOILER!!: Aibhi Was there something wrong with her arm? Cassie looked at her concerned for a moment before listening to her answer. "Energy is always important, that is a good thought to add." SPOILER!!: Bella "Very good Bella, many times it has all to do with knowing how to find a sign even if you don't know how to read it." SPOILER!!: Violet This was a professor's dream if the students were all listening to each other. "Yes, they can fool themselves, but if they really are in touch with the universe and the signs around them then they can never be fooled." She was going to get to that right now, "Now these were amazing answers and some of you are looking at me like I have lost my mind, because the board is about itching and well we aren't talking about itching..... or are we?" She gave them all a very sly smile, "A few of you pointed out that people can interpret signs different and that can be very true, but that is why we have a divination book filled with different forms and their exact meaning, but should we ever just take that meaning alone? The answer is no, even the best diviners check other forms and other places to see what is truly going on. For instance I have spend hours upon hours this term looking at tea leaves, crystals, water, as well as my cards finding as much information as I can. I didn't just take one of those and say that was the final say." She wouldn't go into what she was looking for, but she would use herself as examples. "Now in times of uncertainty you have to use your instincts and the world around you, sometimes the universe will help you by just a little gesture. Which brings me to my question on the board." She turned to look at the board for a moment. "Now Apollo said Karma could make you itch, like if you know something is going to happen. What are your thoughts? Why do we feel itchy? Is it because we can sense something or is it something else?" |
Bernadette was trying her best to pay attention, she really was. The thing was that she was mostly paying attention to Nemesis and not anyone or anything else. She nodded to Morgan when they came in and then looked off, looking for a window or an escape route or something. She vaguely heard Nem's points about intuition, which made her ears perk up, but also... didn't turn her head or anything to look. Uh, what were they talking about again. Why was her nose always so twitchy and itchy in this class??!? "I think we're itchy when something allergenic is nearby. Sometimes it's something we sense and sometimes it's like... it's when an itchy palm means money is coming your way," she offered as a tribute answer, letting out a happy little sigh to herself and then, instinctively, looking down at her palm... to see if money was coming her way. |
It turned out that none of the students could be wrong with their answers. Kitridge accepted all of them graciously, which wasn’t surprising. That woman could bounce back from any tragedy even if she wasn’t fully back to her normal self. As Claudine paid attention to the woman, she couldn’t help but be confused {which was nothing new considering that this was Divination}. So when practicing the subject, they should use multiple methods? How tedious. “You can itch because we think of it? My palm started itching after reading the board. Or because we see someone scratching at their skin. Sort of like when we see someone yawn, most likely we end up yawning too.’’ Bored. Claudine was bored and uninterested so far. |
Professor Kitridge seemed to get where Camryn was coming from with her answer. That almost made her smile......almost. She was listening to the answers that her classmates gave, agreeing with some and disagreeing with others. That was what discussion was all about. After the last response was given, the professor began to make the connection between what they had been talking about and the original itching question. Camryn was still trying to put the pieces together and make sense of it all, while at the same time maintaining her don’t care attitude. When the next question was asked, Cam raised her hand because she had an answer and a question. “Like Bernie said, I feel itchy when I eat something that I’m allergic to.” She never really thought about being itchy for any other reason. “Are you saying that the universe can tell you something by making you itch?” Cam itched when she was sensitive to something. Maybe you could itch sometimes because you were sensitive to something that the universe wanted you to know. Hmmm. |
Quote:
Rubbing her arm a final time, Aibhi looks down at her arm seeing a little rash forming from her constant scratching...maybe it was from nerves, stress, the current situation going down in school, or whatever it was that was on her mind, but keeping her mind distracted, she pulls her sleeve down over her arm and sits back in her seat listening to the lesson continuing. Looking at the board again, she starts to put two and two together and she pushes her hair out of her face and exhales softly. Raising her hand, she speaks "I don't know if this relates to this in a way, but isn't it like with twins that they can feel when the other one is in pain, or upset? My mother has a twin brother and sometimes she says she can tell when my uncle is upset. Like a twin's intuition or something like that? But our bodies could itch because it's possibly trying to warn us like a defense mechanism in a way?" She gives a little shrug and makes sure she takes notes on the lesson so that she doesn't miss a thing. To think, years ago, she wasn't into Divination at all, but this year...she was more intrigued and more captivated by it. She wanted to learn more. She wanted to keep her mind distracted from everything going on and this class certainly helped her a lot. |
A small smile tugged at her lips and she couldn't help but glance over to look at her brother and sister whom she mentioned in her previous reply. Everyone was different. No two people were going to react the same one hundred percent of the time. Huh? Dahlia stared at the question on the board as she listened to Kitridge talk. Why do we itch? Well, something in their brain tells them that their itchy but that probably wasn't what the professor was looking for. What did the universe have to do with being itchy though? For several moments she remained silent, thinking about the question as a whole. Slowly she raised her hand. "Well there's lots of reasons we get itchy. Being allergic to something, seeing someone else scratch themselves, talking or thinking about it, or touching something we shouldn't.. like poison ivy. My dad always says it's mind of matter.. don't focus on being itchy and the itch will go away." It never worked for her though, no matter how hard she tried. "So maybe us becoming itchy is the universes way of pointing out something good or bad?" |
Bella felt a little uplifted. Her answer hadn't been totally off. Divination was a hard subject to understand so she took what crumbs she got. She gave Apollo a thumbs up as she heard Professor Kitridge use his answer as an example when she lectured. Why did they itch? Thoughtfully Bella considered different answers while the most obvious ones seemed to already have been voiced by her peers. Thinking Bella slowly raised her hand as she spoke up."Do you mean like if we talk about hair lice and we automantically feel the urge to start itching our hairs?" It happened right now, just thinking about the creepy small lices. "Or like if danger is near we can get an itch from the universe to warn us?" |
also catching up on Q1 Avalon was surprised that Professor Kitridge would ask such a question. She was surely opening the room up to a potentially anti-Divination discussion, wasn't she? Personally, she wasn't sure how she felt about the whole thing. Avalon continued to take the subject, simply because she had room in her schedule and she liked Professor Kitridge. But did she really believe in the legitimacy of Divination? She went back and forth. At times, she really did believe that seers had a gift. But then she looked at an indistinguishable blob of tea leaves and figured that Divination was a joke. "I don't know. I think the universe does have a funny way of giving us signs, but not necessarily to the extent some people take it." Like reading tea leaves, for example. "But I think there are vibes and feelings that diviners can interpret." Like karma and negativity. Those were types of divination she could see herself believing in. Which was why the sixth year also had some thoughts on the second question, which was related to karma. "Maybe we feel itchy because deep down, we know we did something that might come back for us. If we do something bad or treat someone poorly, we might feel guilty about it and sense some bad karma." It was a pretty abstract answer, but hey, Divination was a pretty abstract subject. |
Some people in this place still appreciated Nemesis Upstead, apparently. Wasn't that something? Nem wasn't sure if it was all that wise or not, at this stage in the game, but they didn't care too much either way. Kitridge seemed happy enough; let the woman have her moment. So nice. Itching, though. Sure. It was not lost on Nem, exactly how many kids in this class had caught on to it. The ideas they'd had, to bring up skin and nerve cells (the literal answer) or intuition again (the Divination answer), were swiftly abandoned in favour of pointing that out, even if some already had. "Suggestibility. Some people are just easily led." So sad, really. "Even with something like itching. Some say it's like an empathy thing, but that's ridiculous. Closer to neuroticism. But maybe that's a different kind of itching to what you're talking about." Nem turned to look at Bernadette, caught her looking down at her palm, and subtly low-fived it. How's that for a fortune, Bernadette Grantham. |
She wasn't sure if it was all the bad that went on this term or just a great planning of a lesson that was making the students really seem to connect and get what she was asking today, but either way Cassie was loving it. SPOILER!!: Bernie "Yes, that is one of the reasons why we itch, especially if you have a sensitivity to something certain." SPOILER!!: Claudine "Very good, but do you think where you start to itch has any importance. I mean even though you think about it is there a reason you think of a certain place?" SPOILER!!: Camryn Now this was what she was really looking for, "It is like someone or something is tapping you so lightly it feels like an itch possibly." Her eyes lit up with excitement as she let that thought be said. "I think an itch could truly be a warning or a sign of something." SPOILER!!: Aibhi "That is an interesting example and something to think about. Twins have a very interesting sixth sense all their own." SPOILER!!: Dahlia "Mind over matter is an interesting topic. I have heard it before, but can never seem to get it to work out for me, especially when something is really on your mind." She nodded at the rest of the answer before moving on. SPOILER!!: Bella "Oh goodness yes, that is a great example. Anytime that gets brought up I do feel itchy." SPOILER!!: Avalon "Karma is a very interesting concept to think about, it goes along with our conscious for sure and the fact that you are tying that in with itching pulls many items together." SPOILER!!: Nem She liked that he questioned and knocked things down, it was all the more challenging and fun to Cassie Kitridge, "There are many reasons to be itchy and people feeling empathy for others I think is a great sense of knowing yourself and knowing how to respond to others. Empathy as well as kindness and understanding can go further than any classroom or any lesson, but we are speaking on just the lesson for now." With that being said she turned to the board and took down the question with one flip of her wand. "Now why would I bring up the universe and divinations at the beginning. Well as many of you have pointed out some feel this class is nothing but lies and games, while others believe there is a higher reasoning for things and that we can find answers by searching the different forms. Whether you are on one side or the other you can all learn and do your own research on this topic. I bring this up, because the form I am teaching you today is one of those that many say is far fetched or ridiculous as Nem would put it, but it is one of the easiest ways to find the universe letting you know something is off or something will happen. You don't need any materials but yourself, which makes it so convenient. " Turning back to the board she wrote Urticariaomancy. "Urticariaomancy is the form of divination that uses itching as a sign of many things. Depending on where you were itchy could mean something good or something bad. Before we go any further though I need you to do three things for me. Take out a piece of parchment and write down the last place you remember being itchy, was it your head, hand, nose? After you write that down I would like you to come up and take four small balloons from the baskets." What baskets you say, oh the ones she just revealed as she was talking. |
The signs were there, but Professor Kitridge didn't have the skill to pinpoint what would happen? Kinsay squinted. Though she couldn't be sure whether it was doubt or disappointment that she was feeling. These thoughts kept her busy as the next question was posed and as a result, Kizzy entirely missed her opportunity to contribute an answer of her own... Not that she really wanted to participate very much. Lacking any sort of enthusiasm, she reached into her bag to pull out a piece of parchment. In truth, she couldn't remember the last time she was itchy. It was a weird thing to remember, did Professor Kitridge know? But because she didn't want any trouble, she decided to make something up. Quote:
After setting her quill back down, she made her way to the front to collect the balloons. |
Quote:
..Urticariaomancy... She says softly to herself writing down some notes on this. As she continues to listen to Kitridge, she looks at her arm and grabbing a seperate piece of parchment and looks at her arm again and on the parchment writes, Quote:
|
Dahlia nodded her head this time. Mind over matter wasn't always very easy to accomplish. Especially not during these times when she always seemed to have something of extreme importance on her mind. As Kitridge moved the lesson along, Lia tried her best to remain focused. Urticariaomancy? Who comes up with these words?! Reaching down underneath her chair for her bag, the first year pulled out a clean sheet of parchment and her quill. Setting the items down on her desk, Lia absently scratched at the side of her face near her right eye, before tucking a bit of loose hair behind her ear. That was the thing about having really long hair, stray strands always found a way of tickling her face and neck. Quote:

Oh. They were talking about literal itchiness. The realization had Avalon feeling a bit stupid. She thought they were talking about the general feeling of being itchy—like feeling restless or worried about something. How in the world did physical itchiness connect to Divination? At least she could always count on this class to teach her something new. She pulled out a piece of parchment, thinking back to yesterday when she awoke in the middle of the night to a crawly feeling on her leg. Come to find out, there had been a spider on her ankle. Normally, Avalon would have shrieked in horror, but she had gotten used to the horrid living conditions in the Room. The spider was the least of her worries. Quote:

Okay, so Kitridge legit had Claudine thinking now. It was a good question but had Claudine easily believed in Divination, she’d have jumped to say that there was a reason why her palm itched earlier. The girl shrugged a little. “There could be. I know Diviners would certainly say there’s a reason why it started in a particular place.” With the lesson moving on, Claudine fell back into a somewhat bored mood. This method of Urticariaomancy though… if they needed only themselves then she was all in for this method. A slip of parchment was set in front of her then she quickly picked up her quill. Claudine already knew her answer. On the parchment, the girl wrote: Quote:
|
The professor had given Camryn something to think about. Itching and messages. Was there really a connection? If so, then she had definitely missed a lot of signs. She would have to pay closer attention in the future. For now though, Cam turned her attention to the topic they would be learning about today. Urticariaomancy. She wrote that down, along with the definition. She tried to remember the last place that she had experienced an itch. It wasn’t usually something that she gave a lot of thought to. When she remembered, she proceeded to write it down. Quote:

She gave the students enough time to get the balloons and write down their answers to her question. She knew at times it was hard to figure out when the last time you felt itchy, but she figured this little activity she had up her sleeve would make for some fun ways to figure out the itchiness they could be having. "If all of you could stand up and come to the front of the room." She waited until they were all moved before waving her wand and moving all the desks to the back of the room leaving the classroom to be a wide open space. "I have an activity for you today and I'm pretty excited about it because with divination we don't typically get to do games and such, so this should be fun." Walking over she picked up one of the balloons. "Each of you have four balloons. These balloons have either charmed to turn into feathers, bugs, or are filled with itching powder. No worries for anyone allergic to feathers or bugs, since they are just charmed it will not have the allergic reaction, but it will make you feel itchy on whatever place the balloon has it. You can try to dodge them and throw them at each other. It is just for fun and to give you some up to date places to mark down on your paper for itching later." Now didn't that sound fun? "Alright whenever you are ready let the balloon battle begin. Please do not aim for the face." She knew there was meaning to itching near the face, but she didn't want anyone directly being hit in the face either. Wanting to have a little fun she decided to throw the balloon (filled with itchy powder) at the group of students. **OOC Activity time! Just as Cassie said each student has four balloons to throw. You can decide what they are filled with based on the three things she said. I will give three days for this activity! Have fun! |
Questions for the Professor :) A game? They were getting to play a game in Divination. This was something new and Dahlia was always up for playing a game. Anything to bring a few moments of joy and excitement into the day. Getting to her feet, Lia walked to the front of the room of the room, balloons still in hand. A balloon battle? If that wasn't simple enough, she didn't know what was. Only these weren't just any regular balloons filled with air, water or even confetti. Nope... feathers, itching powder and bugs. Interesting choices there, Kitridge. This little Ravenclaw was ready but first... she had a few questions. "Professor? Will the balloons break on contact when they hit us? What if we dodge it and it hits the floor, will it still break? Can we try to hit them back at someone else or will they break when it comes into contact with our hand?" Just a few things for thought there. She needed to know these things so she knew how to react. |
Okay, this was getting interesting. This was not how Kaira expected her Divination class to go. The curious 'claw looked around herself and the four balloons she had. Game time? |
Quote:
She hoped that helped and she really did hope that the students could have a little fun with this. Merlin knew they needed fun this term even if it was just a little bit of fun before going back to the reality of this place. |
1st balloon at Nem (bugs!) Violet was bored and frustrated--why did she keep asking them why people itched? It was a physical thing, wasn't it? There were all sorts of reasons it could be--allergies, dry skin, bug bites, or something serious, like cancer. It didn't have anything to do with the universe. Still, she grabbed a parchment piece and wrote down her answer to the last time she'd itched--it had been this morning, all over her head--and Violet already knew why, it was because she was unable to keep her head clean properly down in that dank room! But what she wrote was: Quote:
All the same, she lobbed her first balloon over at Nem...just because. She hoped it would contain itching powder, but instead it contained a swarm of fruit flies. |
Throwing feather balloon at Dahlia ^_^ The Snakette followed the instruction of moving to the front of the room and was not surprised when the place was suddenly cleared of furniture. Indeed it was quite unusual for them to be playing a game in Divination so it is needless to say that Claudine was interested. So… they places that they itched would be used for another activity? Okay then. Claudine stashed three balloons in her left hand, but kept one in her right hand for throwing. What she needed next was a target. Dark gaze zoned in on Dahlia immediately after the thought. Perfect. Taking aim for the girl’s shoulder, Claudine pulled her arm back then threw the balloon. |
Claudine Usually, Kinsay James was a big proponent of playing games. She especially liked to play them during class because it made class time go by quickly and they were usually less boring than having to sit down and take notes (something she loathed). Except, she didn't really feel like playing games today. No offense to Professor Kitridge, but games didn't really feel the same anymore. Not when everything was so horrible. So with some hesitance, she stood up, leaving two of her balloons at her desk and carrying the other two in hand. Seeing Claudine distracted by her current target, Kiz took it as her opportunity to aim one of her balloons at the older girl. Hopefully it wouldn't be a bug one. That'd be upsetting. The only person she really wanted to hit with a bug filled balloon was Headmaster Rosier and his Hooded Squad (TM), for obvious reasons. |
Aiming for Kiara; Hit with balloon from Claudine Only break when in contact with another person. Free to toss balloons at whoever. Good way to release some frustration. Check, check and check. It all sounded good so far. With all of her questions now answered, it was time to get her head in the game. Time to focus. To have a little bit of fun. Something they were all being robbed of this term. Dahlia bounced on her toes a little bit. Blue eyes quickly looking around for her first target. Not wanting to dwell on decisions to long, she choose the first person her gaze fell upon. Which just so happened to be a fellow Ravenclaw. Sorry, not sorry, Kaira. She raised her arm and threw one of her balloons at the first year, hoping at the same time that it wasn't filled with itching powder. Just as she did this a balloon that seemed to come from nowhere hit her on the wrist, bursting opening, feathers raining down on her. The surprise or it and the sound of it initially startled her but within seconds she was laughing even as she mindlessly scratched at her wrist. |
1st balloon; Feather balloon for Dahlia :) Quote:
A game? Did she hear that correct? Oh, this is gonna be fun AND distracting!! Perfect. Listening to Kitridge's directions, Aibhi looked at the four balloons she had with her. Feathers...BUGS....ITCHING POWDER?!?!? Anything but itching powder! Getting herself ready, she wanted to think about just which balloon she was going throw and to WHOM. Honestly, if her brother was here she would aim right at him just to mess with him, but alas Wesley was not. Glancing over, she did spot little Lia, looking like she was ready to throw her balloon at someone as well. As she was ready to throw her balloon, she saw out of the corner of her eye Kitridge tossing a balloon at the class. ...uh oh... and she jumps back a bit still holding her balloons in her hands. That infamous "Draven smirk" crept up upon her lips as she was now ready for some fun... "Lia!" She shouted before tossing her balloon over at her aiming for her leg, but juuuuuuuuuust missed the leg and got her ankle instead and she chuckled softly as the balloon hit Lia's ankle. "Sorry! I meant to hit your leg! Not your ankle. My aim is terrible. |
Hit from Kiz; aiming for Violet ^_^ And off her balloon went, zooming for Dahlia. Claudine watched, with a sense of triumph, as it collided with the girl. It only occurred to her then that perhaps the shoulder was not a good place to aim for given the fact that it was covered with the School uniform. Maybe the contents of the balloon would scatter to a place that wasn’t covered. She could hope. That hope paid off and Claudine saw the balloon burst with feathers tumbling down to the girl’s wrist. Excellent. And suddenly, with a SMACK!ing sound, a balloon hit her, catching the Snakette off guard. Smart move, Kinsay, catching her off guard like that! The balloon burst near her right elbow and itching powder stuck to her skin. Immediately her skin started to scratch and her left hand had to be used to sooth the itch. But man. It took a while for that to happen! That powder lived up to its name. But once it was finally satiated, Claudine chose another balloon and target: Violet. She aimed for the younger Slytherin and threw. |
Back at Dahlia :D and a balloon coming at Claudine :D Quote:
The balloon startled her as it showered her with feathers. Kaira laughed as she remembered countless Bollywood movies she watched with her sister and gave this other girl a mischievous wink, as she threw one of her balloons at her, hoping it is not itching powder! Quote:
|
Wait. Professor Kitridge used HIS answer about karma?!? And his answer was very well put??? Apollo had just sat quietly through the next question because honestly he didn't know how he felt about this except that perhaps having less people in the common room was good for his studies since there was little in the ways of distractions but he also was feeling slightly overwhelmed too. And.... so many emotions, the first year barely noticed the thumbs up from his bestie, but they were moving on it seemed to the core topic of today's lessons. Hygiene or lack thereof was a reason someone could feel itchy and now he felt itchy being reminded of his mum telling him to make sure he washes up real good. His mum. was she okay? Focus, Apollo. Urticariaomancy?? Was that a real word? He wasn't even sure if he spelled it correctly on his parchment, but he had to admit he was quite interested in the aspect that it was a method used to show something is off or will happen. Last places he felt itchy. Uh... yea, he wasn't going to write that location down, so instead the first year settled for "Foot, nose, leg". Sort of true. Whatever that meant, but he was pretty sure he read something about an itchy nose being good vibes and they could use good vibes. And now they were having a balloon fight? Sort of? Taking one of the balloons, he took aim for Kaira, figuring she probably wouldn't expect it. Three left. |
Dodging Kiara's balloon, Hit by Aibhi's balloon, Tossing balloon at Apollo Barely had she recovered from her brief itchy, giggling fit, two balloons were being tossed in her direction. Lia managed to jump out of the way of the one that Kaira had sent at her but that left her open to get hit in the ankle with a feather filled balloon from Aibhi. She gave her leg a good shake trying to get some of the feathers off, brushing the rest off with her hand while laughing. At least it wasn't itching powder. This felt like an ongoing theme right now as she tried to keep herself fully aware of any oncoming balloons. She knew it was only a game and the whole point was to have a bit of fun but she really didn't feel like getting hit again. So far her odds had been good with only feathers but how long could that last? Not wanting to waste to much time, Lia tossed her second balloon at Apollo while he took aim at someone else. Maybe she would get lucky and catch him off guard. |
Hit from Kaira; aiming for Apollo ^_^ As she released the balloon at Violet, Claudine did her best to keep an eye out for any incoming balloons. It was too bad she didn’t have as many eyes as an acromantula to see in all directions of the room. All she knew was that a balloon hit her at the base of her neck. It burst and a few bugs swarmed her. Disgusted, the fifth year swatted at them in haste, but not before they had managed to scratch/tickle at her with their wings and other assortments of limbs. Ugh. A few more swats sent the bugs flying off. Thank goodness! Alright. Claudine had more balloons to throw. Who was next? Apollo. Perfect. With another aim, her third balloon was tossed at the first year. |
hit from both lia and claudine :O aiming one back at Lia for now While Apollo had his guard down in his looking to see if his balloon had struck its mark on Kaira, it was the perfect time for someone to take advantage of this. So much for maintaining vigilance, although if Apollo was being honest, he wasn't sure he was ever really instructed about that yet? Anyway, as his gaze had followed the line of flight from his balloon, he'd forgotten about that balloon the second one struck his thigh and bounced down to his foot where it exploded into .... itchy powder!!!! Hopping up and down on one foot now to try and get rid of the itch, it was in his hopping that another incoming balloon thrown by Claudine had made contact with his back. This one merely exploded into feathers though, for which the Gryffindor was grateful as he got his bearings back on his three balloons he had remaining. Retaliating a balloon throw back at Lia, all while still hopping, was a challenge but perhaps it would be to his benefit? His guard was on alert now for any other incoming balloons. |
Funnnnnn :P Quote:
Kaira was startled by the shower of itching powder on her wrist! She turned suddenly to see who it was and saw a fellow first year grinning at her. Smiling at him, overcome by a fit of giggles, she threw one of her balloons at him. Quote:
Missed shot much! Kaira watched as Lia dodged her balloon. One more balloon left, she was wondering whom to use it on. Quote:
|
2d balloon at Kinsay; hit by Claudine's balloon & returned fire; last one at Apollo Violet aimed her second balloon (feathers) at Kinsay, so she didn't see the incoming balloon shot at her by Claudine and it hit her squarely on her right thigh. Itching powder! Just her luck. The itching seemed very intense for a game, and Violet tried to avoid scratching it, though she couldn't resist reaching down to rub it once or twice. And while bent over, she caught sight, out of the corner of her eye, of Claudine, who appeared to be smirking just a little. Okay, that was challenge enough. Violet rose, the itching subsiding, and aimed her third balloon (itching powder) at Claudine. Then, with only one balloon left, she heaved it (itching powder balloon] at the nearest person she saw Apollo. It was just too hard to concentrate today to drag this game on any longer, and Violet didn't much care who she did or didn't hit. |
I know this is an icky timeline now, but remember this was IC before the war! She watching the balloons flying and had to giggle a few times. The students looked like they were having fun and honestly fun was what they deserved with how this term had went. She even had a balloon it her and a few bees flew out causing her left elbow itch. This made her pause for a moment as something she was thinking over, something she had seen in a few of her readings, but this was not the time. "Alright everyone please move back to the front of the room. I hope you had some fun and found some itchy places to do some research." She grinned and waited until they were all back in the front before swishing her wand and having the desks move back into place. "Go ahead and have a seat. I won't keep you much longer. I would like you to take a moment and write down where you felt itchy and for a homework assignment you can research what it means. Remember everything around us can have a sign, you just have to know where to look, how to look, and how to read it." With that she gave a few snaps and took her wand to show a page number on the board. "These are the pages you will find the answers to your itch spots. I'll see you next lesson." SPOILER!!: Itchy places *OOC: Class is dismissed! Thank you for coming. I have cut it a little short, because it's awkward for me to have it going with her death, but we were pretty much done tomorrow anyway! I'll leave this open for 24 hours before closing. :) |
:'3 (he needed to do this) After that activity, Curtis sighed in relief, he had forgotten how much fun he could have in a class. It flew by so fast one would think he hadn't been able to enjoy it, but he did. Once the seating was rearranged, he sat back down to jot down all that he felt along with a note on the homework assignment. When class was dismissed however, Curtis didn't move out of his seat yet. Instead appearing to take his time and perhaps have an important private question to ask the Professor. Once he was sure no one else was around he got up to pack his things until he went up to her. "Professor... Mum, thanks for the lesson." Curtis gave a rare smile before he raised his arms out to give her a hug. A heartfelt one since it would be another while before they were allowed to leave the cellar again. Something told him to make this one count. Afterward, he gave his usual salute before heading after everyone before he got himself in trouble |
Thank you for the lessons, Professor. From Adi & Claudine <3 And there was her balloon making contact with Violet and Apollo. Claudine was pleased with her aim during today’s lesson. But it was Kaira’s look that made her suspect that one of the balloons, probably the bugs one, had been thrown at Claudine by her. She shrugged. It was all good; no grudges held here. The Snakette was glad that the lesson was being called to order again because truthfully, she was becoming way too itchy for her taste. Once again seated, she wrote down where the balloons had hit. This bit of homework, in her opinion, wouldn’t be that difficult. A note was made of the page number before Claudine started to gather up her belongings. “See you around, Professor.’’ For once, Kitridge’s upbeat personality and snaps lifted her spirits, and the realisation made Claudine appreciate the woman. Not that she would ever say that aloud |
That was an interesting lesson. Who knew itches could predict things? Kaira made a note of the homework assignment. 'Thank you for the lesson, professor,' she said and started to gather up her belongings into her bag. |
Dahlia was still giggling as the balloon game was called to an end. Brushing a few stray feathers off of her robes, she returned to her seat as instructed so that she could quickly jot down the two other places she was itchy from being hit with balloons. Her wrist and her ankle. At the top of the parchment she also added the page number of the text she could look up the information they had just been told about. Once she had finished doing that, the first year backed away all of her things into her bag. Getting to her feet, she slung her bag over her shoulder. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor." She smiled a little bit more that she had been lately before following the rest of the class out of the room. |
Well that was a fun lesson. It was definitely something that she needed. A little fun and excitement in the school. She returns to her seat and grabs her things before following the rest of the class out, giving the professor a soft smile. "Fun lesson, professor! Thank you for that! See you next time." And with that, she left the room. |
