Chaser Tryouts https://i.postimg.cc/yYrYgqm7/tryouts-banner.jpg The late morning greets you with the fluttering of birds and the comfort of a warm sun overhead. It is rather serene in a way, making it an excellent day for flying and showing off ones skillset for a chance to get on the House Quidditch team. As the schedule dictates, the second tryout session, beginning at 11 o'clock, is for all of those who are interested in putting in their all for a chance to snag a position as a Chaser. If you are considerably swift and agile on a broom and are capable of handling a Quaffle well, then this is the tryout for you. |
Was Archer glad that the chaser tryouts had been scheduled for mid-morningish? Actually, yes. Gave her time to wake up at a more reasonable hour, eat breakfast and still get in a decent warm-up beforehand. Was she glad to be trying out alongside all the other chasers in the school? Uh, we'll see. She didn't hesitate to gather with the rest around Professor MacKenzie, Thunderbolt 6000 in hand and sporting her Hufflepuff-themed workout gear. "Hello, Professor MacKenzie, captains." Honestly, it was still weird seeing the new captains there instead of the ones everyone was used to. |
Analiese walked onto the flying pitch ready to try out for chaser. Wait, why were there dummies on the pitch? This was chaser tryouts, not beater tryouts? She shrugged. The dummies could be as the keepers or something? Or maybe they were to represent players that the chasers had to dodge as they made their way to the hoops? Analiese held one of the school's broomsticks in her hand. "Good morning, sir." She put a little smile on her face as she waited for the tryouts to begin. |
Jó had debated trying out for every position - after all, he reckoned he had the talent. But he settled on just Chaser and Keeper. That was where his better strengths lay, in his opinion, and he just preferred them. Having played Keeper for home's under 14's the previous two summers, he thought that that was definitely a favourite, but he had enjoyed his stint as chaser last term and obviously continued training. "Morning!" he called loudly as he grew closer to the group, before offering the dummies a curious glance. He didn't really have much to say regarding the new captains. |
hello, hallo, hullo, Maxie's throat was in his heart, er- or rather, his heart was in his throat. Either way, he wasn't the calmest boy alive by any means. Goggles strapped to his head, broom in hand, the Hufflepuff watery eyes searched the horizon, but there was not a cloud in sight. Conditions were great. great. There would be no hiding amongst the other Chasers. No sneaking beneath cloud cover. Whatever talents he had would be on full display. He should have felt good about this. Excited, even. Instead, he felt nauseous. It was not normal to have to perform under the watchful eyes of a quidditch giant. Setting his jaw, the gangly young man joined the other Chasers - Kowalski, Analiese, and Archer - while his nerves burned him inside out. Yes, Hufflepuff had won the cup last year, and yes, that made him a house cup champion but that would mean absolutely nothing if he didn't get back on the team this year. He owed it to Hufflepuff, to Bel and maybe most importantly... To himself. All this thinking wasn't helping. Absolutely not, so he did something dumb, he tried to strike up a conversation. "H-hello." said the very tall 13-year-old, his lips a grimace of a grin as he looked to the two girls. Pointedly, he ignored Kowalski. before turning his attention to the Professor. ...... ..... ....... ........ "A-afternoon, Professor." |
With excitement to be back on the field and flying, even if it was for tryouts along with her nerves, Hanna joined those assembled on the pitch for Chaser tryouts, her broom resting on her shoulder. "Hi everyone," she greeted, offering a wave to Professor MacKenzie and Freya. Though she enjoyed trying out for all parts, mostly by having a chance to practice them, she had decided to only try out for Chaser this year. She needed to focus on her OWLs of course, and had decided to focus on the position she had played for the past two years and was more comfortable with. It was, she realised, going to be weird, but fun, to try out with all of the houses this year. |
Avalon tilted her face toward the sky as the sun warmed her face. What a lovely day for Quidditch! She made her way across the pitch toward the small group of students that had gathered to try out for the Chaser position. She was most definitely a small fish in a big pond. Her heartbeat quickened as she realized that she was just a measly little first year, and most of the other students that were trying out were older than she was. Was she really good enough to even try out for the house team? Avalon gripped the school's broomstick a bit tighter as she approached the group. She gave everyone a warm smile and felt her nerves ease as she noticed a familiar face - Analiese! At least she wasn't the only first year trying out after all. |
Mention of Jó After trying out for a Beater position, Tessa was tired. Not exhausted, thankfully, but definitely in need of a rest. Waiting for the Chaser tryouts to start would have to do. She let her mind wander while she waited, but made sure to keep moving about to stay warm and keep her muscles loose. Everything seemed momentous when she thought about the fact that this was her LAST year.....and her last Quidditch try out. It felt so big and important, yet she was sure that in years to come she wouldn't even remember most of things she did here, or people she met. That was....depressing. UGH. No. That wouldn't happen to her, surely. These truly had been the best years of her life and she did NOT want to let go. Mostly, if she was entirely honest, she would miss living with her best friend. Everything else? Didn't matter. Tessa shook herself out of those thoughts. Wow. Not the head space she wanted to be in right now, thanks. She looked around for fellow Gryffindors and spotted Jó, her teammate from last year, and went over to stand by him. "Hey, Jó!" She greeted him with a big smile. "How're you feeling?" |
Eniola walked forward to the pitch, carrying her broom. She was buzzing with excitement. She knew trying out for two positions would increase her chances of making the team this year. Even if she does prefer Beater. Looking around as she approached the group that was gathering on the pitch she saw that the only other Hufflepuffs so far was their 7th year prefect and a 2nd year who seemed scared. Or really cold with all the shaking they're doing. She doesn't know. "Good morning Professor." She said and then sat down and began to stretch. She knew it was going to be a long day between both tryouts and she was going to need a nice long soak in the tub after this. She could practically feel her muscles relaxing already at just the thought of the warm bath. |
Anna had decided she would not let her disappointment about not being the Captain anymore get to her and how she treated the new guy. He was alright and did not deserve to be treated like she had by former teammates. She'd be friendly and supportive. It wasn't Tomás's fault her mother didn't let her carry on with her responsibility because of something as insignificant as her "Hey." She greeted both her new Captain and... the new... flying instructor. Who happened to be Colin MacKenzie. Dear MERLIN. What? She was cool. Nothing to see here. Holding her beloved Thunderbolt 6000, the sixth year spotted other fellow Gryffindors already there, so she moved to stand next to them. "Hi." She also greeted them, but this time she offered both Tessa and Jo, her former teammates who didn't hate her - woop! - a warm smile. "This feels kind of weird." She whispered to them, looking around as students from different houses gathered together for the tryout. |

Despite her best efforts (read: she didn't try that hard), she couldn't stop the competitive thoughts bubbling up. She really wanted to be on the team. Anna had been a Captain for Merlin's sake. Now, she knew that didn't guarantee anything, but it did add extra pressure. Maybe that was a good thing, though. A little healthy competition was good.....motivating, even. Yeah! It was a good thing. And even though Jó was younger than her, it didn't mean he would be worse than her. She needed to fight for her place on this team. As much as she wanted all her housemates to succeed, she wanted to success more! Tessa's (friendly) game face was ON. |
This was...weird. Having everyone try out by position. She'd liked the old way better to be honest, because it didn't limit her to just one job. She had to make a decision now - seeker or captain? Her heart had always wanted to be a seeker like Jimmy. Yet her first term and last term, she'd been a chaser, and that was what she had gotten on the U-17 team. Even though she'd kicked BUTT her 2nd year as the seeker, all signs seemed to be pointing towards her being a chaser. So here she was. Her Nimbus was swung over her shoulder and as she approached, her eyes scanned the competition. It was weird, trying out with people from other houses! But on the other hand...that might be kind of nice. They'd all be cheering each other on, right? Because they were SORT OF competition...but not at the moment. Smiling at everyone as she entered the pitch, she grinned at MacKenzie. "Hello Professor!" she said with a smile. Everyone had been fawning over him since they got to school - apparently he'd used to be a HUGE DEAL or something back in the day. The last time the World Cup had been in England, if she recalled... Eyeing the dummies, she walked over to Hanna, her fellow Eagle teammate, and smiled at her, waiting for the tryouts to begin. |
This is what Anna was most looking forward to. She’d spent so many years hearing her parents’ quidditch stories and playing catch on her broom with her dad and now she could actually try out for her house team at Hogwarts! She was practically bouncing on her feet as she moved closer to the instructor and captains so that she could hear. She was gathered! Could they start now? Please? |
With Beater tryouts complete and an hour break taken, the Flying instructor was, needless to say, ready to carry on with the next tryout session. The man was interested to see how much of the student body would arrive, considering there were plenty of Chaser positions available. The fact that all of the Houses would be trying out for their respective teams was sure to make things interesting as well. The sight of the first students brought that charming smile of his back onto his face. Greetings and formalities were to be taken care of once again. Those were never going to end, were they? "Mornin'," Colin responded to Calrissian, Allanach-Senchuri, Kowalski, Anderson-Belfort (who did get a bit of a raised brow once the boy's greeting was heard), Newton, Meriwether, and Gladin when they each addressed him. He still wasn't getting used to being called 'professor,' regardless of the number of times that title had been spoken. The man gave Sinclair and Keller a simple head nod as a greeting, and both Abara and Roberts (hello again, ladies) received nods as well. "Right then, let's get on with it, shall we?" he addressed them all the moment the four Captains arrived on the pitch. "As ye can see, we've got a pretty large group of people trying out fer Chaser from all four Houses, but don't be worried abou' that as ye'll have plenty of opportunities to show off yer stuff." "Now," the man carried on, giving his wand a wave as a sack containing a number of Quaffles appeared. "As ye all know, yer job as a Chaser is to control the Quaffle and get it through the hoops at the end of the pitch. Yer job is to do just that, but ye also need to show that ye can get the Quaffle from someone's grasp and also work with others by passing the ball. All of this needs to be showing within the hour." They were following what he told them so far, yes? He sure hoped so. "The pitch will be divided into two sections. The majority of the pitch will be used by ye all to show how well ye can pass in addition to gaining control of the Quaffle, whether you intercept a pass or literally take the ball from someone's grasp. There'll be a number of dummies flying about, so your goal is to keep from from getting possession of the Quaffles that I will be releasing. The ends of the pitch will be a different section, where ye will face a dummy who will be defending the hoops and trying to prevent you from scoring. Ye will need to attempt both sections during the tryout 'til it's time to grab a bite in the Great Hall, and ye may do each section as many times as ye like in whatever order pleases ye." Were there any questions? If there were none, now was the time for everyone to mount their brooms and get in the air. OOC: Hello, Chaser candidates! Welcome to your tryout session, and thank you for joining us! Colin and I are so pleased that you are here. For those of you who are interested in tryout out but have yet to post, feel free to join us at your earliest convenience. Don't forget to fill out the Quidditch Tryout form. This does need to be completed before tryouts end on May 18th in order to be considered for the House Quidditch team. For the Chaser tryouts, your character will need to 1) keep the dummies from getting possession of the Quaffle -- 3 different Quaffles will be released, so feel free to pass, intercept, tackle, etc. as you please and 2) make some shots at the goal hoops that will have a dummy defending each set of hoops. Throughout the tryout, you will be interacting with each other as well as The Narrator account. The Narrator will inform you if a dummy has gotten control of one of the three Quaffles flying about, if a dummy prevented your character from scoring, etc. Feel free to pass on your own; just please pay attention to each other's posts. This is all very open-ended, so let's have some fun with this! ^___^ To help keep things clear, please indicate one of the following in the title of each post you make during the tryout: Hoop #1 or Hoop #2 when doing the shooting portion of the tryout; Quaffle #1, Quaffle #2, or Quaffle #3 if passing, intercepting, etc. in the main area of the pitch with each other and the dummies. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to address them to Colin IC or myself OOC. |
Eniola was excited. Exhausted from the Beater tryouts, yes, but very excited. She loved Quidditch and loved seeing how magic was being incorporated with each position's tryouts. She really did hope to join her house team and be able to represent them when all this was done. Right now though she had to focus. She wasn't very big or very small, but she was quick and Eni knows that helps in any situation, especially Quidditch. She just couldn't wait to prove it. Mounting her broom she took of in the air, heading towards the dummies she and the others had to play keep away with. This should be fun. |
Well this was certainly an interesting way to play Quidditch. Avalon had never worked with dummies before. A part of her wondered why they didn't just switch around positions rather than all playing the same one. But she supposed using dummies would make the tryouts more fair for everyone involved. After listening intently to MacKenzie's instructions, it was time to head into the air. Thankfully, his nonchalant demeanor had lessened Avalon's nerves a bit. She took a deep breath and mounted the school's broom. It wouldn't be as easy to fly on a different broom than she was used to, but since first years weren't allowed to bring their own, she had to be adaptable. Kicking off and gliding into the air, Avalon did a quick, small circle to get used to the feel of the broom. When she came to a stop, she felt the broom wobble as it adjusted. She held out one hand to steady herself and felt the broom relax. Yes! Avalon watched as the rest of her peers mounted their brooms and took off. It was time to get this chaser party started! |
Analiese climbed onto the broom with a competitive look on her face. She was one of the smallest kids there - if not the smallest - but that did not mean she couldn't beat them. She kicked off the ground and did a small circle. This broom was old, but it did the job. She gracefully came back to the ground. Turns out being good at gymnastics and dance was useful in flying. Gymnastics for dodging bludgers and such and dance for... well, not making a fool out of yourself by flying terribly. |
ANNND it was time to get going! Nettie smiled to herself as she mounted her broom and kicked off in to the air. The feeling of being in the air was practically second nature to her now, and after playing for U-17, she'd never felt more comfortable on a broom. Once she was up in the air, she paused for a moment to do a few arm stretches as she watched everyone else get in position. Alright, let's do this thing! She was READY! |
Anna gave Tessa a small smile because of her first response. That meant her fellow Gryffindor thought she was talking about having to tryout again. Well, yes and no. Anna was still used to trying out, since she has done it every spring for the U17 team since... what, her third year or something. She didn't remember anymore, but it has been a good number of years now. A lifetime, even. "Yeah." Was he final response to Tessa's second comment. The sixth year listened intently to what their new flying instructor had to say. Pretty much the only time she intently listened to any of the professors at that school, mind you. Not her fault this was just the best thing ever Sooo he wanted all of those skills to be shown within the hour. That was plenty of time, so Anna didn't get too worried. AND IT WAS TIME TO FLY, YES!! Anna mounted her beloved Thunderbolt 6000 and promptly kicked off, flying just high enough so she could still hear and see what professor MacKenzie was going to do next and to watch the Quaffles when they were released. To be honest, she wasn't expecting to feel this excited about these tryouts. But just being up in the air again about to do some passes and interceptions was enough to get all the endorphin going. |
Anna was now basically vibrating with excitement. She nodded and nodded some more as the flying instructor gave the rules and stuff for tryouts. Okay. Okayokayokay she was ready. She was a bit wobbly on the get-go as she mounted her broom. It had been a while since she'd really been able to get up and fly more than she was allowed to in her backyard. She got the hang of it after a few seconds, though, and straightened out as she flew a little higher, trying to stay in line with her classmates. |
Despite still being slightly weirded out that all houses were trying out together, Archer was ready for this. Also, it seemed like she'd be very likely to get her regular spot on the team back this term, since there were only like two other Hufflepuffs trying out and three chaser positions available. A fact that relaxed her a bit. Soon it was time. She mounted her broom and took off, ready to catch one of those Quaffles the moment they were released. |
One ... two ... three Quaffles flew into the air, each red ball soaring to different area of the pitch. Greedily following after them were a number of mechanical dummies. Three flew directly toward the closest Quaffle, whereas two went after the second closest and one flew as fast as it could toward the farthest. Two remaining dummies also sprang to life, departing ways and each taking their place at the scoring areas. They remain idle for the moment, waiting for their moment to defend the hoops, as a Quaffle near each scoring area hovers midair. OOC: As a friendly reminder: to help keep things clear, please indicate one of the following in the title of each post you make during the tryout: Hoops #1 or Hoops #2 when doing the shooting portion of the tryout; Quaffle #1, Quaffle #2, or Quaffle #3 if passing, intercepting, etc. in the main area of the pitch with each other and the dummies. Thank you! |
Quaffle #3 Eniola saw the Quaffles fly into the air and a moment after that she saw no less than eight mechanical dummies flying in the air as well. She quickly measured her odds against two or three dummies and realized that with her speed her best bet is to go after the single dummy and race him to the Quaffle. She raced after the dummy, body close to her broom and grip tight. The wind whipping through her hair, she grinned. This. This is the thrill that she loves so dearly. As fast as she could she flew after the dummy, she was gaining on him, she was sure of it. |
Quaffle #2! Quote:
She kicked her broom in to overdrive and took off towards it, scooping it up and immediately turning tail so she didn't run in to the dummies that were charging towards her. Now she just had to take the quaffle, make sure it didn't get taken from her, and go score! |
Quaffle #1 'cos why not! Anyone want a pass? As soon as the Quaffles were up in the air, Anna tried to be quick to make a decision. Which of them to g- It was when the three dummies flew straight to one of the Quaffles that Anna's instinct got the best of her and she shot in that direction too. It was three against one, but Anna leaned in on her broom and zoomed as fast as she could straight to the Quaffle, her right arm stretched out in front of her and wrapping around the ball as she braced herself in case she collided with a dummy. After that Bludger to the nose she took two summers ago, this girl believed she could experience any kind of Quidditch related pain and be just fine now. Bring it on, dummies! She was already manoeuvring her broom, though, and tried to fly away from the three dummies as fast as she could. As she flew, Anna looked around to see if she could spot anyone free to whom she could pass the Quaffle before the dummies caught up to her. |
Quaffle 1 with Anna! Getting started by mounting the broom and kicking off, Hanna hovered higher up on her broom. She didn't feel the need to zoom off into the air, rather than carefully observing the dummies, quaffles, and players around her. It was great to see Nettie returning, as well as some first year fellow Claws. Hanna watched as the Quaffles were released, and the dummies soared into their positions. Hanna needed to decide instantaneously just what to do, with the actions she could see. As the dummies sprang to life, Hanna pressed her chest to the broomstick, zooming it forwards and towards Anna and the three dummies. "Just behind you, Anna," Hanna called, as she saw the older |

Quaffle #1 and open to receive a pass! Hearing her name being called, Anna took a quick glance over her should to see Hanna. It was a good thing Anna had played with people from other houses during the summer, otherwise throwing the Quaffle to the Ravenclaw would've felt very weird. It didn't, though, and the sixth year was more focused on missing the dummies as she made the pass. Half of her was hoping those mechanical beings would be super tough on them As soon as the Quaffle was out of her hand and flying through the air towards Hanna, Anna tried to zoom ahead and away from the dummies so she could be open to catch a forward pass from either Hanna or any of the others if needed. |
Quaffle #3 looking to pass Anna watched as the quaffles were released, and the dummies flew off after them. There was no way she was going to try to get the quaffle against three dummies and some real people, so Anna took off the other way. Thankfully that quaffle only had one dummy and another person going after it. Leaning forward, she put on a burst of speed. This part, she was good at. She was a fair flier, and she was small and had less wind resistance than other people, or something. She was gaining ground (air?) quickly enough. That dummy was kind of intimidating, though. Doing her best to ignore it, Anna put her focus on the quaffle. Closer... closer... and she reached out and grabbed it. Aha! |

Ooops, hopefully that hadn't gotten the dummies attention...... |
Still Quaffle #1 + Hanna Anna readjusted the grip on her broom when one of the dummies knocked into her, but her gaze was still locked on the Quaffle flying towards Hanna. The sixth year noticed two of the dummies going on both sides of the Ravenclaw to try and take the Quaffle from her. She quickly turned in the air, moving away from the dummy that stayed by her and shot down diagonally until she was a few meters below Hanna and the other two dummies. The Gryffindor didn't want to shout to get the other girl's attention as that might make the dummies alert of her too, so Anna hoped her red robes zooming underneath them would be enough to make Hanna realise she could let go of the Quaffle, as Anna's right arm was already in front of her, ready to catch the ball. |
Hoop #1 Anna and Tessa got grins, but Józef didn't really join in with the conversation - he was too focused on the fact that Nina was in the stands waving at him. And, if he wasn't mistaken, wearing his hoodie - of course, he couldn't actually see from this distance, but he was assuming it was the case. If he hadn't been so cool, he might have swooned. Nettie got a wink when she joined the group, too. Merlin, he enjoyed winding her up. But soon his attention was on Colin MacKenzie. It was a weird tryout set up, completely different from the last two years, and Jó wasn't sure how he felt about it. There was definitely more pressure, though - that was a given. He nodded along at the flying instructor spoke, just to show that he was paying attention. When he kicked off, Józef headed straight for the hoops: he'd get in some goals first, and then move onto the catching/passing part. Scooping a Quaffle up into his arm, he zigzaged his way towards the hoops, hoping to distract the Dummy!Keeper. Feinting to the left, he shot the ball straight at the hoop. |
not sure which number quaffle this is anymore but i think this would be hoop #2 Quote:

Hoops #2 Maxie had been playing the long game. While everyone was zooming around and fighting back and forth- passing without a plan, egging on the dummies- he'd been thinking. The dummies honed in the second someone got the quaffle and not a moment later- they were fast, and brutal and unforgiving. The other players worked as a team, but not a well-organized one- Maxie noticed that real quick as he zoomed from one stretch of the pitch to the other, weaving through students and pass dummies. There was a quaffle in the air- tantalizingly close- Maxie swooped in, taking ahold and zooming fast toward the hoops. He was moving in low, real nice and low- hoping to trick the keeper dummy into swooping down- and then he'd shoot up high and practically dunk the quaffle past him- er, or her- them. |
Quaffle 1 (sorry!) Hanna caught the familiar Quaffle under one arm, adjusting it to rest into the nook her Quidditch posture gave. Zooming closer towards the goals, where she hoped one of Team!Hogwarts could make a goal against the dummies. She watched Anna get into position ready to take back the quaffle, but the moment wasn't right. Two dummies, on either side of Hanna, closed in. There was something very unsettling about the metallic eyes of the dummies, but Hanna tried her best to ignore it. They were just another team, and she didn't need to pay them any attention other than knowing they were there and wanting the ball. And then Anna moved into the perfect position, allowing Hanna to throw the ball towards her outstretched hand, the flutter of anticipation all too familiar in Quidditch flying in her stomach. |
Think we have Quaffle 2 still? And Hoops 1 Nettie could see the dummy coming at her out of the corner of her eye...or should she say EYESSS. Because she had TWO of them coming for her, coming closer and closer. They were trying to squeeze her in and take the Quaffle! Pssh. Not today! Holding tight on her broom, she pulled up on her broom and rose up in to the air, pulling out of the little gridlock they were trying to squeeze her into. She rose in to the air above them, managing to sneak her way out. She looked around, as she'd heard Avalon calling out to her before she'd noticed them coming in on her, but saw her fellow Claw had already moved on to the next Quaffle. Well, good for her - and good for Nettie, because now that she had avoided turning in to a Nettie Sandwich, she could focus on scoring! Since everyone was focused on the second hoops, she focused on the first set of hoops, which was closer to her anyways. She wound up, took her Quaffle, and shot it right at the left hoop, hoping it would soar through! |
Adding the group titles before the quotes. Hope that helps! ^__^ QUAFFLE #1 Quote:

The Quaffle fell into Anna's hold, making it the perfect exchange. Though the dummy from before, the one that had knocked into Anna earlier was back... In fact, it had snuck up so suddenly that it was mere seconds away from punching the ball out of her grasp... QUAFFLE #2 Quote:

Now more alert, the Keeper dummy tossed the Quaffle back out into play... its eyes locked on Maxie as he flew forward... this time the dummy wasn't going to be easily fooled... the low flying only meant that the boy was, eventually, going to shoot up high... eyes were now on the Quaffle... when it was released, the dummy flew after it was fast as it could... for a moment, it wasn't clear whether the ball would go through the hoop or the dummy would stop it... but in the end, the dummy's efforts were successful -- barely successful, but successful nonetheless... the Quaffle was then thrown back into play... OOC: For clarification purposes as I don't think the instructions provided by Colin/myself were super clear (my bad!), there are two DIFFERENT stations: passing (the Quaffle groups - the main playing field) and scoring (the Hoops groups - both scoring areas on each end of the pitch). If you're in one of the passing groups, you do not need to worry about scoring; you're just focusing on keeping the Quaffle away from the dummies. There are three Quaffles available for this. Interacting with those in the group in addition to the dummies is strongly encouraged. Please make sure you read the dummy post as well as the posts of those in the same group as you before posting. If you're in one of the scoring groups, you're just dealing with the dummy stationed that is defending the hoops. There is a Quaffle and a dummy at each end of the pitch for this task. If multiple people are present in the same scoring area, you can do a bit of passing with the hope of confusing the dummy before shooting. (And to be transparent with the scoring, I am doing a coin toss to determine the outcome: heads = scored, tails = blocked.) Please continue putting one group in the title of your posts to avoid confusion and to help everyone keep track of where everyone is. If you want to change stations, you may do so; just make that clear in your post title and in the content of your post (e.g. "Wrapping up Quaffle #2, transitioning to Hoops #1"). Thank you! |
Quaffle #1 + Hanna! Anna watched intently from below as Hanna was sandwiched by the two dummies, but she kept her hand ready to catch the Quaffle as soon as the girl let it go. If only she was this invested in her normal lessons, maybe she would've done better in her OWLs. Alas, she did not care about those. Anyway, Hanna finally made the pass and Anna skilfully caught the falling ball, wrapping her arm around it and leaning in to pick up some speed again. Which turned out to be the right move as she spotted the third dummy right by her! Merlin! That was close. The fact dummy nearly took the Quaffle from her made her heart skip a beat, but the new rush of adrenaline kicked in exactly because of that, which was helpful. Anna was off, zooming forward and doing an upward loop moving around and above Hanna and the two dummies, hoping to get rid of the dummy that was so close to her. She slowed down a little, stabilising her broom to have a look around. Anyone free she could pass the Quaffle to? She was kind of ready to move on to the goal hoops, really. However, she didn't want to simply give the ball to those dummies, no way! The Gryffindor wanted to make sure another player got it before she changed stations. Anyone? Would Hanna be able to get rid of those two dummies? Anna needed to be quick before those dummies came after her again. |

Quaffle #1 to Avalon! moving on to Hoops #2 Thankfully, as soon as Anna started looking around for someone to pass the Quaffle to, she spotted a small Ravenclaw coming back from one of the hoop stations trying to get her attention. The Gryffindor didn't have time to think how cute the little girl was, exclaiming she was open when it was so obvious she was. But Anna would later think that that was cute, mhm. Adorable firsties were adorable. It was because the girl was small and adorable that Anna really wanted her to catch the Quaffle, so before the dummies could come too close, the sixth year zoomed towards the firstie and pretty much tossed the Quaffle to her when they were a mere metre or two away. That move, however, wasn't just because she wanted to make sure the little girl had the Quaffle, but Anna was planning on going to that hoop area anyway, so it was fitting. Ciao for now, crazy dummy trio! She arrived at the hoops area just in time to see the dummy catch the Hufflepuff boy's throw. "Good effort!" She called to him, giving him a thumbs up. She had just about seen his little stunt to try and fool the dummy. It nearly worked, so it had been a good effort indeed. ANYWAY, the Quaffle was thrown back in play, so Anna caught it and after taking a glance at the younger boy to make sure there was no way they'd bump into each other, she zoomed the other way towards the dummy. Yep, right at it because... well, because she felt like it. Could one even intimidate a metallic dummy? Who knew. Before the thing could decide it'd fly towards her too - which wouldn't be ideal since colliding wasn't in the plans at the moment - Anna tilted her broom handle just enough to go past it and towards the right-hand side hoop. She threw the Quaffle with all her might because the dummies were tough, but this Gryffindor could give them toughness too! |
Switching to the hoops now! (Hoops #2) Um....yeah, okay then, so Archer was just going to move over here then. She really didn't feel like getting knocked off her broom today, thanks. And if those dummies (literally, ha!) kept it up, that was exactly what was going to happen. So, she was just going to move over to the hoops now. Approaching one end of the pitch and grabbing a ball, Archer waited patiently for her turn to take a shot. Once it was, she sent the Quaffle hurtling towards the hoop. Would she make it? |
Quaffle #1 - Anna/Avalon // Transition to hoops #1 Hanna watched Anna expertly grab the Quaffle, but not before she yanked the broom upwards to pop out from between the dummy sandwich. Once she was away from the dummies, she steadied her broom and looked back to see one of the dummies sneaking up on Anna. Relief was instant as Hanna saw the Gryffindor dart away from the dummy and towards the hoops. Hanna tailed her, looking around for any dummies that might be doing another sneak. But they were soon joined by Avalon, who was ready to help with the quaffle. Doing a turn and speed flying towards the other hoops, Hanna watched as the dummy let in two goals. "Nice Nettie!" Hanna called to her fellow claw. And with another quaffle being put in the game, Hanna dove towards it, grabbing it swiftly in her outstretched arm. Doing a few manoeuvring swerves, dips, and lifts, Hanna flew towards the hoops, her chest against the handle, and underarm threw the Quaffle towards the opening. |

QUAFFLE #2 The two dummies continued passing the Quaffle they had gained possession of between each other... they were flying fairly close to each other, clearly determined to keep anyone else from taking their precious red ball from them... QUAFFLE #3 Quote:
HOOPS #1 Quote:
It raised the Quaffle in the air for a moment as if it were gloating at its achievement before throwing the ball out of the scoring area once more... HOOPS #2 Quote:

The dummy, in fact, was not intimidated whatsoever when Anna darted foward... it also moved forward with no signs of moving out of the way, but rather had the intent of pulling the ball from her grasp before a shot could be made... but then the dummy had been tricked by the sudden movement... the Quaffle went through. As soon as the ball was tossed out of the scoring area, it had been grabbed by Archer... the dummy, not pleased that it had been made a fool, was keen on keeping an eye on this one... the movement by the girl was predictable... though the red ball moved with a surprising amount of speed, it wasn't enough to get past the dummy. Once more, the Quaffle was thrown toward the hopeful Chasers... OOC: Tryouts will be coming to a close today at 11 PM EST (roughly 8ish hours from the time of this post). There certainly was A LOT to pay attention to during this tryout. That was something Colin could not deny. Those who had been keeping the dummies from gaining possession of the Quaffle had clearly been kept on their toes, and those attempting to score at the hoops certainly had been challenged. He, as well as the Captains, had noticed everyone's efforts and successes as it all unfolded before their eyes. Noticing that the sun was starting to make a gradual descent, he looked down at his watch and took note of the time. It was nearly time for the third tryout session to come to a close. Several minutes later, the man reached for his whistle. TWEET! As the sound of the whistle echoed through the air, the dummies came to a sudden halt and then gradually returned to their original positions on the ground, returning back to their idle state. "That'll be the end of this tryout session," he called out. "Rosters will be put up by yer Captain sometime next week, so keep yer eye on the noticeboard in yer common room. Now, hit the showers and go about the rest of yer ev'nin'. Great work out there, ye lot." OOC: Thank you all for participating in the Chaser tryouts! I hope you all had fun. Feel free to post your character leaving the pitch at this time. Quidditch rosters will be posted sometime on Sunday, March 19th, so keep your eyes on the lookout. ^___^ |
