Great Hall

https://s26.postimg.cc/h3tygvpp5/great-hall-banner.jpg
Rain or shine, the Great Hall continues to be the hub of the school. Four long tables, one for each House as defined by the banners floating above them, are stationed in the enormous room facing the raised table reserved for the school staff. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. Mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages are at your fingertips.

Whether you arrived for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on time or late, feel free to dig in as the headmistress has no speech to give. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables while sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves. Just remember to display proper eating etiquette and don't get any funny ideas. Food is to be eaten, not thrown across the dining room. Wasting food will come at a price that you will not like to pay.

Sitting down at the Ravenclaw table, the night above still dark and full of shimmering stars, Ewan was ready. Ready for the coming day. Why he'd risen this early before almost every student he'd never know. All he knew is that if he didn't eat the mixed fruit pancake with lemon in front of him now, he'd faint! Okay, he wouldn't but he'd have severe hunger pains!

Picking up his knife and fork, he tucked in. Eyes only for his delicious pancake and his cauldron shaped mug of tea that sat next to his plate. Of all the things that he could have brought from home, he chose a cauldron shaped mug! This may seem odd to most people. Why would he bring it? But... being a muggleborn, he found it amusing that he'd owned the mug before he even knew he was a wizard. Pausing for a second, he looked up at the sky, admiring the last of the stars before the sun started to rise.

Ewan!

It was early. All the other girls in her dorm had still be sound asleep when Rylee had gotten up and ready for the day. It might have been Saturday and she may have been able to sleep in but why would she do that when there was things to be done? There was only so many hours in a day, why waste them all sleeping?

The young lioness entered the Great Hall, Neptune in his usual spot on her shoulder. There was literally one person in the entire hall. Seriously. Lazy bunch of people. Rylee zeroed in on the sole person making her way over long before she even realized who it was. When she got closer to the Ravenclaw table and saw it was Ewan, well that was just an added bonus that she already knew the slightly younger boy.

Slipping down onto the bench him she lightly bumped her shoulder into his in a playful manner careful not to make him drop anything or spill anything. "Morning! You're a morning person too?"

aRogueOne 05-11-2018 04:35 PM

Hearing footsteps,he turned. Adjusting his still slightly sleepy eyes, he stared. Whaaat was that.. for a moment, he thought the sun had risen. "Aha, Hey Rylee! Greeting the red head with a wide smile, he gave her a little nudge back. "You wanna watch your self Pritchard...there are all sorts of people lurking around at this time of the morning!", a teasing grin across his face. "Yeah, i'm a morning type of guy, ya know. I mean, who doesn't love that! as if on cue, the great hall filled with a crimson red!

"Anyway..." he continued, "How are you?" *Speaks Welsh* A mischievous grin spread across his face now as he spoke that last sentence. Knowing fully well that the chances of Rylee being able to speak Welsh was slim to nothing. Giving her a little wink, he turned back to the table, ready to dip some biscuits into his tea. Just like he did at home.

Kolyander 05-11-2018 05:14 PM

Ewan! (And anyone else that wants to join them!)

Huh? Did she have something on her face? Rylee was slightly perplexed at the way she was being stared at for a moment there but then suddenly as if a light bulb went off inside the boys brain Ewan had smiled at her. Maybe he didn't realize who she was for a second there or something. Oh, well. "Oh, is that so? That's a whole lot of talk you got going on there for a first year," she teased laughing softly. A bright smile spread across her face as she tilted her head up slightly to look up at the ceiling taking in the rising sun, it was gorgeous! Didn't matter if it wasn't real or not! She pulled her long ginger hair to one side over her left shoulder so it wasn't covering Neptune up to much. "It's super pretty."

Reaching in front of her she grabbed a pitcher of milk to pour herself a bit. Scooped some eggs onto her dish, a bit of bacon, breaking off a little piece which was given to Neptune. Rylee cast a very brief sideways glance at the boy at her side. Ewan spoke Welsh hmm? "I'm great, thanks. How are you? Adjusting well? How are you finding Ravenclaw to be?" she asked in perfect Welsh not missing a bit. There was a very clear smirk in her voice as she bit into a piece of bacon once she finished talking. Things just got interesting it seemed.

Rylee and Ewwwan!

Reese made his way into the Great Hall for some breakfast.. HE was kinda irritated.. Rylee hadn't met him outside his common room like she usually did.. And to make matters worse, she was sitting next to Ewwwan... That's what he called him anyhow.. The Ravenclaw made his skin crawl AND he didn't like how he was, for some reason, ALWAYS around his sister.. Not Cool, Mate... Not cool..

He still went to sit on the other side of her and started to fill his plate. " Mornin'.." he said curtly.. Piling eggs and potatoes and sausages and biscuits on his plate. Rylee knew him very well and should have been able to read his disappointment..

Things just got interesting it seemed.

Chortling now, the echo of his laugh filling the empty hall, Ewan turned back towards her, his eyes cockeyed, a dopey grin on his face. "That is so! This ickle firstie is nout but trouble!" and with that, he burst out laughing again! Maybe it was the sun in the sky but suddenly, he felt warm all over.

For the briefest of seconds shock flitted across his face. She could speak Welsh? And not only a little, but fluently, it seemed. Grinning now, he turned to her "I'm great! Why didn't you tell me you could speak Welsh!!?", his Welsh accent filled with excitement! He missed speaking his native language her. Now, he wouldn't have to! And...Think of all the conversations they could have in class and no one would know what they were saying! A mischeveous smile spread across this face! She may not realise it yet, but she was about to see a whole lot more of him!

Giving her the side eye now on the sly, he looked closely at her hair for a second, admiring the way the sun radiated off it. Finally he spotted the rat on her shoulder. Watching her as she fed it a piece of bacon, his mind wandered. "I wounder....". But before he could test his theory, someone else had entered the hall. Reese. *Sigh* Putting his idea into the back of his head, he turned back to his plate, his face taking on a more stone like expression.

Kolyander 05-11-2018 06:21 PM

Ewan & Reese!

With laughter like that there was no denying that Rylee was going to laugh too. The response was immediate from her as well. There was a small space in time where she had tried not to laugh, tried being the chosen word. It didn't work though and sure enough slowly she began to laugh. "Oh, great! Cause what this place needs is even more trouble making firsties!" Wasn't there enough of those already?

Oh, man! Where was her camera when she needed it! The look on his face was perfect. Rylee simple grinned at him. "Why didn't you tell me that you spoke Welsh," she countered with a cheeky grin. She was a girl of many hidden secrets.

"Hm?" Once again he was looking at her and she couldn't quite figure out why. Was it her or? Oh! Ewan had looked at her right as sh-

Rylee lost her train of thought as Reese slid into the spot at her side. He was up early. "Morning. Thought you sleeping in today?" Wasn't that what he had said the night before? That was why she didn't stop to get him this morning. Or.. had she messed up the days somehow?

aRogueOne 05-11-2018 06:46 PM

Ryleeeee and Reese

His face almost aching with laughter now, turned to face her

"Aha, the sound of victory!".

Briefly, he contemplated his answer... "Can there ever really be enough firstie trouble makers?", the answer was yes, there could be, his eyes wandering towards Reese for faintest of seconds before returning to Rylee.

His smile not quite as wide as it had been earlier "Sooo...Watcha up to today?his Welsh now spilling from his mouth fluently. He was curious if all of her plans started and finished with her little shadow. Peter Pan could have done with this kid.

Devina Wellheart 05-11-2018 09:31 PM

Rylee and Ewwwwwwwwwwan!

Hmmm?.. Isn't that an UGLY mug.. His poor parents!... Reese wondered if they received condolence letters instead of congratulations when he was born... The git!.. Reese was eyeing him hard.. And he didn't like that he was sitting so close to his sister either AND bein' all overly familiar and giddy with her!... IT MUST END! he thought as he looked over and gave him the death glare.. " Aye... There's enough of us.." his red hair flaming with the heat of his anger.. He didn't like him.. He was a slick one.. But Reese had already added him to his mental list of target and or test subjects..

" I told ya that I wanted to sleep in yesterday, but ya came and had me woke up anyway, Ry.. 'Member? ", he sighed.. They just weren't on the same page anymore.. Even more had changed since he stepped foot on the train that it had his head spinning..

" Me and Rylee are goin' down to the barns to help feed the hippogriffs..", Reese chimed in before she could answer.. Yup!.. Me no likey.. You go bye bye.... Bye bye!

Kolyander 05-12-2018 04:32 PM

Reese & Ewan!

Moments like this kinda made her glad she wasn't a first year. Tempers flaring high with the young trouble makers. Good thing for her... she was in a class all her own. Not only was she a year above these two boys but she was a lioness, an adventurer and she had maps and photos from all over the castle and it's grounds. If they wanted to bicker she would let them.

Ah, so he had. Days tended to sometimes blend together at Hogwarts. He didn't understand. She had a LOT on her plate. From her lessons, homework, to the huge amount of extra things she had signed herself up for this term on top of a few things that she was continuing with on her own as well. "M' sorry.." Even she messed up at times. What she needed was a planner or something... a nice one. A better one then what she had last term.

Rylee lifted her goblet taking a long drink of her milk before setting it back down and starting on her bacon, a bit more of which went to her rat. A soft laugh escaped her lips when Ewan returned to speaking in Welsh asking about her plans for the day. Only she didn't get the chance to reply and she cast Reese a quick look knowing exactly what that was all about. "Mm, what he said. I might head down by the lake or the whomping willow for a bit though later on. Maybe get some dance time in." Or reading. Both of those sounded good.

aRogueOne 05-12-2018 04:51 PM

Reese and Rylee

Sheesh. What was it with this kid? Catching his ‘Death Stare’, he grinned back at him, bemused at his fellow first year. That was until he caught Rylee’s sigh. With slight reluctance, he took a deep breath and held in the retort he’d had planned for the little Badger. He’d almost thought about inviting himself along to their little trip to see the Hippogriffs but again, held back. He liked Rylee. He didn’t want to make things worse for her. HE...at least could control himself. Unlike some.

“Aha, that sounds like a nice day! I’m just going to do a bit of reading once I find a nice quiet place”, His thoughts drifting back to the copy of Peter Pan that he’d been loaned.
Grinning at her laugh, he continued in Welsh again “So where are you from? I mean, to be able to speak Welsh? I’m guessing you’re at least part Welsh or lived there for a while”. Honestly curious at this point. Her Welsh was impeccable, surprisingly.

Devina Wellheart 05-12-2018 05:07 PM

Rylee and Ewwwan!

Reese was fiercely protective of his older sister.. She was his very best friend since he was able to toddle alongside her around their home and she was the one he had accidentally made bald when he had a magical misfire when his magic started to show.. They had always been attached at the hip and had always believed they were meant to be twins, but time messed up.. That was why he looked at Ewan as an insect that needed getting rid of.. It wasn't anything personal at all..

He could see that the other first year had noticed the ice of his glare and smiled thankfully when he didn't invite himself along with them.. Though, he would have tried to make the best of it had he done so.. After all, he knew Rylee wasn't at all keen on his new friends either.. For whatever reasons the girls just did not get along at all and he had no idea why..

Reese kept it to himself that he didn't like that she had basically given Ugly an invite to meet up later on.. No, now he was thinking of something to keep them busy until bedtime. That way Ewwwwan wouldn't get any Ry-time today... Hehe.

AHEM!.. Speaks welsh too!.. Duh! Answered him after all!

After hours of studying, Kye's stomach had made a large noise that practically echoed through the dorm. It was then that she realized that she hadn't eaten since yesterday. WHAT? She sighed, knowing this to happen when she got too caught up with stress and studying. She had done this during her fifth year too, studying for OWLs. Kye made her way to the Great Hall with only one textbook in hand, because otherwise she may forget to eat even sitting in the Great Hall.

Kye plopped herself down near the entryway and sighed as food appeared in front of her. She would eat almost anything at this point, if she were being honest, but she decided to stay calm and try to be civilized with her knife and fork. She put a biscuit and a chicken leg on her plate to start... but let's be honest, those mashed potatoes needed a home too! And some veggies wouldn't hurt. Oh and was that gravy? Ooh and...

Kolyander 05-14-2018 09:03 PM

Reese & Ewan!

Rylee saw that stare and she turned her blue eyes onto her brother giving him a look. She knew exactly what he was doing and it wasn't needed. If he was going to have his friends so was she. There was plenty of spots around this castle and it's grounds that she could spend time at without being found. What the boys probably didn't know was there was things to do all over this castle and the grounds. If she wanted to she could easily slip away and be gone without them knowing, unless they got an older kids help to find her.

"Oh? What book are you going to read?" Maybe it was something she had read before and they could talk about. If not maybe it was a book she might be interested in reading. Rylee smiled at the question even though even the look on her brothers face made her laugh. "Just because I can speak Welsh doesn't mean I'm from a place that speaks the language." Quiet a few moments while she eats a bit more of her breakfast.

After a sip of her milk she final gave Ewan a real answer. "We live in Wales. Our father is Welsh and our mother is Irish." She could speak that as well. There were a few other languages she was working on as well but she wasn't as fluent in those ones. With a schedule as crammed to the gills as hers was going to be this term it was tough fitting anything into it at all.

aRogueOne 05-14-2018 09:39 PM

Reese and Rylee

Ewan couldn’t help but give Reese the smaaaaaaaalest of smiles now. He’d gone up in his book, just slightly, due to the fact that he could speak Welsh. He could appreciate the fact that he was protective of his sister, but after all, he wasn’t exactly doing anything wrong. I mean, she could have other friends, couldn’t she? Giving him a slight nod towards him, he allowed him a simple “Nice”. At least he could say he tried.

His small smile turned into a grin now at Rylee’s enthusiasm.

“Aha, I was going to read Peter Pan. I need to finish it before I return it. You read it?”.

He’d only ever watched the movie, so he was quite excited to give it a go! After all, movies ALWAYS left out so much detail, it was practically a crime! Although, he did love reading in general, so he was pretty sure he’d love it.

Aha, so she did live in Wales! Interesting.

“Aha that’s really cool! You’re the first part Welsh person I’ve met here! Which part are you from?”.

He was honestly curious now as Wales wasn’t exactly the biggest of places. Maybe he knew where she lived. Putting down his knife and fork, he stood up and looked across the table in search for his next dish, unsure of what he wanted. Taking a moment to eye up the variety of food, he eventually settled on some toast. Cutting it diagonally in half, just like his mother used to, he sat back down and took his first bite.

Sarah and Juni

Slate looked around for Juni, as usual. It seemed like he beat her there though. Unless, of course, she was studying. She seemed to do that a lot lately. It was... disappointing. He missed hanging out with her all the time.

He could only imagine how much worse it was going to get once exams were closer.

After one final look around, he took a seat at the Slytherin table and started on some food.

Famished from flying and doing Quodpot exercise, Charlie Kane found himself in the Great Hall, still in his old Quodpot jersey from Ilvermorny, sniffing the aroma that made him salivate even more. American food was great, but English/Scot food was delish too. Also, beggars can't be choosers said a wise man from centuries ago.

Charlie didn't have to do a clean sweep of the entire hall to see a familiar face to sit with. Just by the entrance, Kye was sat on a table, piling up her plate. This girl has an issue with hoarding apparently, but Charlie didn't mind it one bit. He actually appreciates girls who eat and not care about gaining extra weight or something. "Hey Kye, leave some for me, yeah?" Charlie sat in front of her, grinning, and watched his goblet fill with pumpkin juice. The Hufflepuff made a face and leaned closer to his goblet. "I prefer water please, thank you." As if his goblet was sentient, the contents of his cup turned into clear liquid. "D'ya think I can get soda around here? I'm asking for a friend..." he may be a Hufflepuff, but he was clearly not aware of the wonders of the kitchen that was just situated near their dorms. Oblivious Poofer is oblivious.

Kye had just finished situating her plate when she heard her name. Whipping around, she saw her trolley friend!

"Hey Charlie!" she greeted him happily, " Hey, I don't think my stomach could ever keep up with the house elves, so I think you're okay." She motioned toward the kitchens below, which, FUN FACT, she had only visited a couple of times during her time here. Hmmm soda, huh? "Well we can always go ask in the kitchens if you'd like, but honestly I've never actually had soda." She didn't think that was weird either. It's not like she had never heard of it or something, it just wasn't something offered to her growing up. Kye was actually a big fan of milk or a glass of orange juice typically.

As she took a bite of mashed potatoes and gravy, Kye noted Charlie's outfit. "Did you play Quidditch at your old school?" she wondered if she'd be seeing him out on the pitch this year. Was he trying out??

Kolyander 05-15-2018 03:03 PM

Ewan & Reese!

Peter Pan. Well that wasn't something she was expecting to here for some reason but none-the-less the reply made her grin. "I have. Saw the movie too." More than a few times." It made her think of the girl named after her favorite flower and her conversation with Drew which brought a small smile to her face. "Did you borrow the book from the library?"

Really? This was news to her. She knew that her peers came from all around but she never really gave it much thought. Rylee tore off another small bit of her bacon for Neptune. "That's the last of it now, okay," she whisper petting her furry companion lightly on his with her finger for a moment. Pushing her plate away she wiped her hands on her napkin turning to face Ewan slightly as she spoke once more explaining where it was in Wales that they lived. She didn't go into exact detail of course but she did give the town for him.

She looked over at Reese to see how he was doing with his breakfast and if he was almost finished.

aRogueOne 05-15-2018 04:07 PM

Rylee and Reese

Seeing the slight shock in her face, he smiled at her, one eye raised.

“What, am I not allowed to read Peter Pan?” His face feigning shock. “I’ve saw the movie too. But movies always leave out the best parts, you know?”.

Taking a moment, he hesitated, casting a quick side eye at Reese. “Uh, yes. Quinn let me borrow it. We were talking about fiction and she was kind enough to send home for her copy”. Over the last few weeks, he’d noticed that Rylee wasn’t exactly fond of the first year Ravenclaw girl. He didn’t blame her of course, Quinn wasn’t to everyone’s taste. Ewan watched Rylee carefully now, seeing how she’d react to this information.

He wasn’t sure which part of Wales she was from, but it was nice to know someone else who lived there all the same. Sitting there now, he lost himself in his own mind, his thoughts wandering back to home. He missed home. He missed the mountains. He missed his father. He missed his friends. Most of all, he missed his dog.

*Sigh*

Kolyander 05-15-2018 05:37 PM

Reese & Ewan!

The fake look of shock on his face was by far much more funny than her slight look of surprise had to have been. It was enough to earn a grin a small laugh from her anyhow. "I didn't say that." She hadn't. There had been no questioning of the book he was reading, it was a good one. "Mhmm... but that's mainly because if the movies included everything the books did they would be hours upon hours long." Not that she would mind that though. Most movies would be worth sitting and watching then if they were made exactly like the books were written.

Rylee noticed Ewan's hesitation right away as well as that look sent towards Reese. Huh? What was th- Oh. Quinn. Why was everyone always watching what they around her when it involved that girl? Now it was her turn to raise an eyebrow curiously. Only it wasn't that the girl lent him the book but because Ewan seemed to think Rylee would care. It didn't concern her in the least. If they wanted to be friends that was their business. Finishing off the last bit of her milk so she could quickly regain her focus she smiled setting the empty goblet back down. "That was nice of her." There, see, she could be nice.

aRogueOne 05-15-2018 06:18 PM

Reese and Rylee

Frowning for a second, he finally gave her a slight nod. “I guess”. He really didn’t mind too much as long as it represented the book well.

Oops, did he notice his hesitation? In all honestly, he didn’t think she’d care. He just...didn’t want to cause an argument between her and her brother. Trying to cover up his hesitation now he replied, “Mhm, I mean, it’s a good book so far”. Looking away, a slight shiver running down his arms, he couldn’t help but feel cold now.

“What about you, what’s your favourite book?... Or movie?”, He added on at the end then. After all, not everyone liked reading as much as he did.
Pushing his toast away, full to the brim, he finally stood up, ready to tackle the day ahead. Despite his early start, he didn’t actually have much to do today. All of his homework was done, his clothes washed and for some unknown reason, he didn’t quiet fancy reading Peter Pan anymore.

“Hmm... What to do?”

Surprisingly Juni was coming in from the pitch, she had been there and not in the library studying. She decided to go outside and do a few laps around the pitch on her broom. Now she was hungry from that so she headed back inside the castle for some food. Plus she hadn’t seen Slate pretty much all day. Where else would she start her search for him then the great hall.

She looked around and spotted him. Making her way over to the Slytherin table. ”You look like you lost your best friend.” Yes she knew that they hadn’t been spending as much time as they normally did. She propped up her broom against the table and sat down next to him.

"Was that a challenge or what?" he said grinning mischievously as he piled up his own plate. He was a growing boy with a growing appetite. "I've heard so much about the food here from my uncle. I was sceptical at first, but after having too much cranberry-filled everything back in Ilvermorny, I was ready to sink my teeth into anything that was Hogwarts made." Of course, he was oblivious to poison-laden food...or that some of his classmates thought that their professors were hags. No seriously, where's the fun in being dry and ordinary and boring, yeah? "Any favorite food then?" he asked, stuffing his face with mashed potato.

YUM.

And hold up, Kye never had soda before? Like...NEVER? "This is madness, no soda since you were old enough to drink from a sippy cup?!" he asked dropping his mashed potato from his fork to his plate. "Are you willing to try though? When we go to the kitchens that is." He really should watch his sugar intake, but one can't just take that bad eating habit from this Americano.

When asked about Quidditch, he looked at his shirt and beamed proudly at Kye. "Just a bit, but I was more into Quodpot. This is my old jersey," he said lifting the print just a bit for Kye to see the Thunderbird emblem. "I wore it during our tryouts a few days ago...sort of a good luck charm." he continued as he sliced a huge chunk of steak on his plate, and into his mouth.

SO. GOOD.

Ewan & Reese!

If a book was good, Rylee read it. If a movie was good, Rylee watched it. That's how things worked with her. What others thought didn't matter much. Just so she liked it. Her opinion is what mattered most. If it made sense and kept her attention then it stood a chance. That was key. Keeping her attention. If something could do that for more than a couple of seconds at a time things were looking good for whatever it was.

"If you're enjoying the book that's all that matters." Rylee noticed the way Ewan suddenly looked away from her now when before he had been joking with and laughing. Had she said something wrong? What had happened? Blowing out a slow breath she fidgeted ever so slightly where she sat twirling a small lock of her ginger hair around her finger.

Ry glanced at Reese once again wondering why he was suddenly being so quiet. Was he really that upset with her for not waking him up? Or was this because she was sitting with Ewan? Sigh. Huh? Favorite book or movie? Uhhh... she had LOTS. Really. LOTS. "That's sort of tough to say. I enjoy a lot of books and movies. I really like reading about creatures though." Or more recently anything that focused on any type of magic. Unlocking the power within. Learning to focus. Her focus was seriously lacking sometimes. Potions. Quidditch. Herbology. Dancing. Things of that nature.

YUM.

A challenge?? Hmmm she definitely hadn't meant it that way, but if he was about to challenge her, she would NOT be backing down! Kye imagined being in one of the tower Houses, in which case she would be burning so many calories that she would basically HAVE to eat this much. She paused at Charlie's question, but only because her mouth was still full. "Biscuits and gravy!" she said, eyes widening. Mmmmm... maybe she just had a thing for gravy actually. Yea that would make sense. Mmm and chocolate chip waffles, but she would leave her answer as it was.

At Charlie's apparent shock at her never having had soda, she shrugged and gave a small laugh. "My parents never bought it, and so I never really had any craving or whatever. I've heard the stuff in it burns your throat though, is that true??" She began imagining it literally scorching the back of her mouth or something. Was it like Firewhisky maybe?

Ooh so he was trying out for Quidditch too?? "Well hey, hopefully we'll see each other out there huh?!" She was actually feeling VERY anxious waiting to find out if she was back on the team or not, because let's face it, she would basically have to withdraw from Hogwarts out of shame. "What position did you go for?" she asked, before taking a healthy bite of the chicken leg. That would be cool if they were both Chasers or something, and they could get a little friendly competition going! She also made a mental note about Quodbot, which she honestly knew close to nothing about.

Rylee

Ewan really was interested in what Rylee had to say, but, once he zoned out. He would often stare into space for a while. Snapping out of it now, he focused again on Rylee. Focusing on her now, he couldn’t help but notice her fidgeting, her finger twisting a small lock of hair around it.

“Why do you do that?”, he blurted out before he could stop himself.

“Oops, Sorry. I didn’t mean to sound so rude. I just... noticed you do it a lot when somethings on your mind. What’s up?”.

Despite his ability to zone out, he could be observational. You know, when he wanted to.

Stepping away from the bench now, he stretched. Wood could be very unforgiving on the body sometimes. A small grin appearing on his face now, he held his hand out, “Hey, could you do me a favour? I’ve never actually been to the barn yet. You like magical creatures, yes?”.

His mind recalled her previous statement about books that looked at creatures, “Mind giving me a tour? I mean, think of all the trouble a firstie could get up to in there. I mean, as a second year, it’s almost your duty to give me a tour. You know, to save me from myself”.

His grin finally spreading as wide as possible, he have a little chuckle.

Kolyander 05-17-2018 03:30 PM

Ewan!

"Huh? Why do I do what?" She asked blinking at him surprise. It hadn't occurred to her just then that he was talking about her twirling her hair around her finger. Not until she realized that's what she was doing anyhow. Most of the time it was habit. Like how she swung her feet back and forth naturally because she couldn't always reach the floor when she sat on a chair. Lets her gaze drop slightly to where her hair is all twisted up around her finger, lifts her shoulder in a partial shrug. "Habit. Sometimes because I'm bored, sometimes it helps me focus on what I'm doing, sometimes it helps me relax." Many reasons really.

Rylee watched Ewan get up and stretch, a common thing nearly everyone did when the got up in the great hall. When he held his hand out she smiled slightly taking it and getting up herself, more carefully though seeing as to how she had a rat on her shoulder. A favor? She looked at him curiously glancing at her brother quickly before looking back at Ewan. "Yeah. It's no secret that I like them... not just magical creatures but all creatures." Where was he going with this?

Ah. There it was. She had no problem at all with this. None. Creatures were her thing. She loved them. Only Reese would. The way Ewan said it was up to her though to show him around made her laugh however. "Technically it's not seeing as to how I'm neither Head Girl nor a Prefect but I can give you a tour... just not right this very minute, sorry. If you don't mind waiting a little bit until after Reese and I feed the Hippogriff's I can?" That was fair, right? She thought so.

aRogueOne 05-17-2018 06:31 PM

Rylee

“Bored? Uh sorry” , his voice growing increasingly quiet.

Blushing now slightly, he looked down. He didn’t realise he was that bad company. The again, he must be if she didn’t even want to go to the barn with him.

“Mhm...yeah. I understand”.

Dropping her hand now, he rocked up and down on his toes.

“Don’t worry, its okay. I’m sure you can just show me another time”.

Not wanting to embarrass himself anymore in front of them, he turned ever so slightly, ready to make his escape to anywhere but here.

Looking up now, staring an inch or so to the left of her fiery red hair, he couldn’t help but mumble, “So uh, I’ll just see you around I guess?”.

Kolyander 05-17-2018 07:38 PM

Ewan!

Hmm?

What was he sorry for? She didn't understand. At all. Seriously. Not even a little bit. She wasn't bored. Not right now. She had only been answering his question. Obviously he had missed the part where she had said sometimes. Nowhere in there had she said that right this very moment in time was she bored.

Sometimes things made her incredibly confused. She hadn't meant to hurt his feelings. Honest. That wasn't how she rolled. If what she said came out wrong... more harsh or like she was trying to brush him off that wasn't what she was doing. The whole not a Prefect thing had been a joke...but it was true that her and Reese were going to the barn. They had said that earlier.

Why wasn't she saying anything? Speak already. Speak. She scolded herself mentally. "No, I'm pretty sure you don't but you're welcome to ask me things to make sure we're on the same page." Whatever just happened here was making her head hurt.

"You want to see the creatures and I'm going there now so come with me. I'll tell you whatever I know." Unless now he just didn't even want to be near her cause she hurt his feelings. In which case she would understand. Apparently she was really good at upsetting people today without even meaning to. Way to go, Rylee.

Looking up now, had he put his foot in his mouth again?
"Oops, Sorry! I thought that may....or may not have been a hint that I was boring you". Looking up now, his cheeks on fire, jumping to conclusions was something that he needed to work on.

Turning to face her now, he smiled, a hint of mischief in his eyes. Changing his face to an overly dramatically sad expression, he looked at her, "Really? I can come now?". For all of 10 seconds, he looked at her, sad puppy dog eyes and all...

Then...

Without a word, he dropped back to the bench, his laughter filling the hall echoing off the walls. He really didn't mean to but, he sometimes, he just couldn't help it. Still chortling, he looked up at her from the bench....

*BANG*

Face full of shock now, he looked up at her again. This time, from the floor. He'd only gone and fallen off of the bench. This time... he'd really done it now. She was about to see something not a lot of people had seen. EVER!

The shock and surprise quickly turned to... Laughter. Fully fledged and honest. She must have thought he was strange... for laughing at his own folly but... he didn't mind. It was more the surprise than anything.

"I'd love to but i'm sure you and your brother will be too busy to have me asking 20 questions. Maybe when your a little more free? And uh...I'm not sitting on my backside?". It was strange, being on the cold, hard floor, although, he had to give it to the house elves...he could not see a speck of dust. Not even under the table.

Callie 05-18-2018 01:00 AM

Beth and open

October 18th. In an odd way, today was almost like a second birthday to Quinn. Yet this birthday was bit backwards, as instead of the cake and gifts being for her, they were for Beth. Well, the cake was. And if there were gifts at the moment, they'd be for Beth too. Alas, Quinnlin did not have a gift for Beth, just yet.

But she did have cake, which she had made herself with a lot of help from the house elves in the kitchen, especially Tinka.

Quinn spotted her best friend and literal blood sister over at the snake table. She carefully and delicately carried the round cake over and set in front of Beth from behind then sat down next to her. Green frosting adorned the cake, with silver lettering that gleamed and sparkled, yet were still quite edible. They read: Thank you! A single candle was lit, marking the anniversary. It was a trick candle, that would never go out, no matter how much you blew, or any other method you tried in extinguishing it. It was charmed only to go out when removed from the cake. She'd had help with that. Quinn felt it was fitting for the occasion.

"One year today." That was all she said. Beth knew what today's anniversary was about, and no one else needed to know.

itsjustjesse 05-18-2018 04:35 AM

Beth didn’t need a reminder to know what today was. The date on her calendar was sign enough. Too bad we’re not housemates she thought as she sat there in the Great Hall on to what everyone else thought was just another day. To her, to Quinn it was a momentous occasion.

When she heard it – Quinn’s voice she couldn’t help but grin. ”Look at you, one year already” the blonde beamed at her friend ”I…have something for you” she smiled as she took a box out of her bag the small package was of course from Imogen. ”it just arrived mum had it sent for you” Beth smiled not knowing of course what it was herself.

”I love you, y’know that right?”

Kolyander 05-18-2018 05:30 PM

Ewan!

Rylee stood there for a second and looked at him. "No. Honestly, if I was truly bored you would know. Everyone would know." She grinned cheekily. A bored Rylee could be fun. It typically meant something random was about to happen. Sitting around doing nothing really wasn't her thing, nor was silence unless she was totally engrossed in whatever it was she was doing at the moment.

Oh geez. She knew that look. There was just a hint of it. Not much. It was there though. Reese had that some look at times. So did she. "Yes?" She had just said that he could. Why make her repeat herself. What was with the puppy eyes. Yeah, no. Those don't work on her. Anyone could tell him that. And then...

He was laughing. Not just laughing... really truly laughing so hard he was on the floor. It all happened so fast that Rylee had no time to even ask if he was okay or even realize what just happened before she was laughing herself. Her own laughter matched his expect for the fact that she remained on HER feet which was very much good for her and Neptune, though her cheeks were bright red.

Waving her hand at him she gasped out, "You can... a-ask question wh-while we're there.." This was said through bursts of laughter as she stepped backwards and sunk down to sit on the bench, thankfully not missing it!

Toddles 05-18-2018 06:53 PM

Anyone!

No fun, no fun! Algamus always want Toddles doing work and no fun.

The house elf appeared in the Great Hall with a *Pop* mumbling about how much he did NOT want to clean the kitchen. Kitchen always a mess, castle always a mess. Toddles just wanted to have fun and he couldn't if he was busy cleaning instead of being around the studentsies.

He looked around the Hall spotting several younger students already there. Miss Beth and Miss Quinn over there and Miss Rylee too.

Just like that, his dusting feather was dropped and elf did a little jump of delight. "Toddles make fun things for studentsies!! Watch watch!" The little elf lifted his hand and with a snap of his fingers, confetti began falling from the enchanted roof. "Party! Party! Great Hall Party!" Muuuuuccchhhhh better than cleaning.

aRogueOne 05-18-2018 06:56 PM

Rylee

Gasping for air now, still laughing rather loud, he gripped the wooden bench tightly and pulled himself into a sitting position. Still sitting on the floor, he beamed at Rylee. It was funny how he often found sitting on the floor more comforting than on a chair or bench sometimes. Not wanting to look strange, he eventually got up and sat back on the bench next to her, his cheeks still bright red. Not from embarrassment, but from the sheer amount of laughing he’d just done.

“SoooooooOOoOoOo...”, He sang happily, reaching for a drink now to fight off his parched throat, “When do you fancy going to the grounds?”. Looking around now, he was beginning to become more aware that the hall was starting to fill up and, well, his strangeness would stand out quiet a lot. Not that he minded too much but people would also stare at Rylee too.

Looking up, he just caught the last of the stars disappearing, blue skies now filling the hall despite the time of year. Strange. He almost missed the stars. Being out in the night with the stars looking down on him was most definitely his favourite time of day. His head now looking up, he briefly lost track of time.
Giving his head a little shake, he looked back at Rylee. Oops. Smiling now, he looked at her, ready to hear her plan.

Callie 05-18-2018 10:15 PM

Beth and Toddles!

Quinn frowned slightly at the package. "No, today you're the one that's supposed to be receiving a gift." Only when Beth pointed out it was from Imogen did Quinn accept the package and open it. It was a bit of a care package: Some cookies and brownies. A few chocolate frogs. Sugar Quills. And an old paperback book that it looked like Imogen got out of a used bookstore. Still it looked like her sort of book and she hadn't seen this one before.

Smiling Quinn slipped the package into her bag and made a note to mirror Imogen later to thank her. "Right, but I still need to get you something amazing when we go into Hogsmeade next." Because Beth already gave Quinn the best gift she ever could last year, and today and every anniversary in the future, it was Quinn's turn to give Beth something. No arguing.

There was a slight hesitation at first, then Quinn nodded. "I do. And you know I do too, right?" Because Quinn truly did love Beth, even if she wasn't able to say those words directly.

*POP*

Quinn turned to see Toddles stand there, and gave the elf a warm smile. There wasn't any luggage around, so she was pretty sure she was safe from a repeat of the opening feast. "Hi, Toddles." What was the elf up to? She watched with interest, until the confetti started to rain down on them. Quinn laughed, light and warm. A rare sight for anyone to see. "Toddles, you have the most serendipitous timing. Today is the absolute perfect day for a Great Hall party!" Quinn scooped up a handful of confetti and threw it back into the air.

Oh yes. It was a great day for an impromptu party.

Kolyander 05-19-2018 12:40 AM

Ewan, Toddles (mentions of Beth & Quinn)

Every single time she thought she was finished laughing, Rylee would look at Ewan and start laughing all over again. It was a never ending cycle. One that was making her stomach hurt and her side as well which wasn't going to do her any good. How was she meant to talk if all she could do was laugh. Lowering her head, long ginger locks falling around her face to shield everything from view she tried taking a few deep breaths while Ewan drank his juice. They both needed a moment to recover.

"When? Well, now of course. Did you think I was going to wait?" she grinned at him getting to her feet. "Come on let's go." Surely if they left now now one else would really be there and he could ask her all the questions he wanted about the creatures in the barns.

Rylee didn't get very far though. A rather loud *POP* stopping her in her tracks. A smile formed on her face seeing the young elfsie. "Hello, Toddles!" Hmm? A party? Whatever for? An unplanned party... just because? Well those were the best kind really! Laughing happily as she watched the confetti falling from the ceiling, no doubt getting in her ginger hair she knelt down to pick up a bit of the brightly colored shiny stuff. She was going to save this for another time. "Thanks, Toddles! I can definitely use some of this for my Halloween costume this year!"

On her way out she did take notice to Beth and Quinn giving them a small smile. "Come on, Ewan!"

aRogueOne 05-19-2018 01:17 AM

Rylee (Mentions Quinn and Beth)

Sometimes, he knew he was being silly and sometimes, he knew he shouldn’t laugh but you tell him that you’re not supposed to laugh...you were setting him up for a fail. Still grinning, ear to ear, he got up, pulling his rucksack from under the table and opening it. Whistling now, he grabbed some food for the day, not knowing how long they’d be down at the barn for... and well, he was always hungry. Surprising considering there wasn’t a lot of fat on the tall first year boy. Turning to face Rylee now, he was surprised to see her ready to leave.

“Heeeey, waiiit UPPP Girl on fire!!!!”. Grabbing whatever his hands could reach, he shoved it in his bag and pulled it onto his back. Giving a smile and wave at Toodles, he turned to leave with his red-haired friend. “Did I think you were going to wait for me? Well Duh, I mean, who else is going to fall over for your amusement?”, grinning now, he winked at her as he followed her towards the doors.

Whilst leaving, he couldn’t help but notice Beth and Quinn. Giving a small nod towards Beth, he turned, his smile not quiet as big as it had been. That was until he noticed Rylee picking up some of the shinning confetti up. Rolling his eyes, his smile returned back to his previous wide monkey smile. “What, you never seen a party popper?”.

Kolyander 05-19-2018 01:33 AM

Ewan!

Had she any clue he was going to do what he was doing, she would've waited. She hadn't known though. Typically she carried her bag with her that she had tons of stuff in... like snacks, can anyone say, Sugar Quills? Those were her favorite if anyone hadn't figured that out by now.

Hold up. No way. He did not just say that. Rylee froze right there on the spot and spun around on her heel with the biggest grin on her face and tossed both arms up in the air singing, "Looks like a girl, but she's a flame. So bright, she can burn your eyes.." Pleasssse please say he knew this song! She flashed him a quick smile before laughing. "Hmm... I don't know. I could always fall over for my own amusement? I do so rather often." Teasing.

"Hmm? I just like confetti. Shiny colors... bright things. It catches my eye." She shrugged heading out of the Great Hall so they could make their way to the barn.

aRogueOne 05-19-2018 01:58 AM

Looking her in the eyes now, he held up an imaginary microphone, “Better look the other way, you can try but you’ll never forget her name!”. Shaking his head to the imaginary beat in his head, he closed his eyes, picturing the rest of the song. He loved singing. It was something he could actually do. On his own usually. I mean, he’d prefer to be the guy playing the instrument in the background, but he didn’t mind sometimes. Like now for example.

Stopping now, he opened his eyes. Raising one of his eyes, “You fall a lot? Some pair we are then”, his mind wandering back to his previous fall. Running to catch up to her now, they headed to the barn.

Pips 05-19-2018 02:21 AM

*POP*

Pips entered into the Great Hall searching for work to do. Always cleaning in the... Pips stopped seeing Toddles shooting confetti into the air. Oh nos, Pips knew Toddles should not be making a party for the students.

Grasping his ears he hid behind the bench of the table hoping that Toddles would soon end the party. Peeking out around the table Pips smiled seeing the s tudentsies getting excited about the confetti. ”Pips should clean Toddles messies up.” Pips mumbled under his breath with a hiccup.

Callie 05-19-2018 02:45 AM

She caught sight of Rylee and Ewan getting up and Rylee's small smile at them. Ordinarily the girl bugged her, but today...Quinn returned Rylee's smile with a bright one of her own. Then there was Ewan. Quinn's smile faded as she watched him with a cold, almost murderous depth in her eyes, as if running through all the things she'd like to do to him, none of which would remotely be pleasant.

And suddenly he was screeching at the top of his god awful lungs. Her hand rushed to her pocket, seizing her wand and whipping it just as he disappeared out of the entrance.

Slipping her wand back into her pocket, Quinn noticeably brightened and turned back to Beth and Toddles.

*POP*

Another elf! Quinn grinned and turned to greet whoever it was, but there was no one.
She scanned the hall a few times before finally spotting Pips hiding behind a table and bench, peeking out. "Pips!! Come join the party!"

Beezley 05-19-2018 02:56 AM

*POP* Beezley was at the opposite end and running towards the naughty Toddles making messes... He was always making messies!

" Shoo!.. Shoo!.. Go, go!.. Get!. Naughty ickle Toddles.. ", poor Beezley scolded.. So much work to do as it is.. And here's Toddles making such grand and fun messies!

Callie 05-19-2018 03:11 AM

All the Elves!

Oh and here was another Elf. Beezley if she remembered correctly. Quinn let out a small sigh as Beezley scolded Toddles. "No, come on. Beezley, Pips. It's a party, yeah? Join in have some fun with us. Please? We're celebrating!" Quinn scooped up a handful off confetti off the bench and threw it back in the air. "It's the anniversary of the day I found out I was going to live, so come on! Celebrate with us!" She could think of few better she'd want to celebrate this day with than the house elves. Besides, all the hard work they did for the students here, they deserved some fun, right?

Besides, all the hard work they did for the students here, they deserved some fun, right?

Oh….boy, Toddles was happening - Beth’s eyes widened as confetti began falling everywhere. ”You know my mum can’t help it” Beth laughed, ”and…of course we’ll do something in Hogsmeade…you can take me for tea or something more fun – we’ll figure it out!” Beth shrugged and beamed over to her friend as the impromptu party seemed to be getting underway.

”Hey Toddles, do you want a cookie?” because Beth had those in her bag, and Toddles was fun…even if he’d locked Quinn in that tower of trunks earlier in the school year. AND POP! Another house elf and another…oh boy, ”do you guys want to join us for a bit? We ‘d love it if you did – and…after wards I’ll offer to help with the cleanup?” she offered with a smile knowing they probably wouldn’t go for it, they never really did.

Quinn's words did, of course, make Beth tearup. This, this was a momentous day indeed.

Toddles 05-19-2018 12:39 PM

Miss Quinn wanted to have the party too!!! "Yippeeee!!!" Toddles hopped onto the table dancing about in the falling confetti, all the while making more so they would never run out. More and more of the streamers fell to the ground, creating some rather colorful flooring but that was half the fun!!

"Toddles happy to help!" He called to Miss Rylee as she left the Great Hall. He was very helpful. Halloween costume not would be complete without him.

"Cookiiiieeeesssss?' The elf moved across the table to Miss Beth at her offer but he soon scampered off the table with a loud YELP when Beezley came yelling at him. "Toddles only want to have fun! Miss Quinn and Miss Beth wants party! Toddles throws party like a good elfsie!!" He whined, running right into and stumbling over Pips who'd been hiding while trying to get away from her.

"No, no cleaning. Paaarty!" He corrected Miss Beth, straightening and dusting himself off. "More confetti!!!" And with that a new shower of confetti rolled down. "Party needs music and food!"

Tinka 05-19-2018 04:27 PM

Hearing the commotion from the doors, Tinka made her way into the Great Hall, whisk in hand. "Toddles stop makies mess!" Her whisk waved in the air and towards the mess all around the house elf. "Toddles be bad. No, Toddles." Her eyes widened as she walked closer. Streamers and confetti were all over the place.

Her anger over Toddles messes was getting the better of her. She started banging on the tables with her whisk, her little hands shaking. She had spent the better part of the morning cleaning up what Toddles should have already taken care of, now Toddles was making an even bigger mess. Tinka was not a happy house elf.

Argyle 05-20-2018 03:50 AM

*POP*

The Great Hall was always an active responsibility for the elves. Whether it was for regular cleaning, or for making sure the students were well-fed either for meals and feasts or in-between gatherings in the large room. So, there was often a reason to be checking up Except Argyle wasn’t expecting the scene before her. Studentses all around and Toddles in the middle of it all clearly NOT doing any cleaning or other help.

“Stop…Toddles mussa stop,” the older elf exclaimed as she quickened to the confetti covered portion of the room and the other elves. “No time for messes.” Tinka was clearly upset and Pips was half-hiding and Beezley seemed in mid scold. Argyle snapped her long fingers trying to clean up but only succeeded in cleaning a small spot. Brush…brush….brush. Paper everywhere and not where it should be.

Callie 05-20-2018 04:04 AM

Right then, this clearly wasn't going well. If only the house elves would lighten up, just for a few hours, but it seemed no matter how much she asked them to join in on the fun and celebrating, they were going to budge. And they seemed intent on keeping poor Toddles in line with them.

Quinn let out a long sigh, and gave Toddles a small sympathetic smile. There didn't seem to be anything she could do to help him out of this. She'd tried to tell the others it was fine and even welcome, and get them to join, but that wasn't working. And Quinn wasn't going to order the elves into something, even if she remotely thought it would even work, which she didn't. Sorry, Toddles.

She turned to Beth, scooped up a handful of confetti and dumped it on her best friend's head. "Let's take this somewhere else, shall we? And let them sort it all out?" It was getting a bit awkward being a spectator to this family squabble. Even if they weren't related, they clearly were a family by some definition of the word. That much was clear. And sitting here, just watching this seemed rudely voyeuristic.

itsjustjesse 05-20-2018 04:11 AM

Beth had stopped talking, for the most part she had stopped breathing. This brought a whole new meaning to the word e x t r a. Oh, merlin. Toddles, her little heart jumped as she watched the house elf scamper across the table only to watch as toddles asked…welp.

This was intense.

”Here, cookies, have. the cookies” Beth’s voice was almost a whisper as she sat there, bewildered. Oh thank merlin Tinka was there. She’d just yeah, leave cookies for them to eat.

Quinn’s question couldn’t come at a better time ”yep…I, well, I think that’s a good idea…wanna make potions maybe – or something that doesn’t involve glitter?” she asked her heart still racing.

Toddles 05-20-2018 01:41 PM

"NO!" Toddles yelled suddenly. "Miss Quinn! Miss Beth! Not go! Stay, party for fun!" He begged, internally huffing at the way the other elves ALWAYS seemed to show up when he was on a break from his chores (which was almost all the time but that didn't matter).

"Not messes, it's parties!" Toddles countered Tinka and Argyle, throwing more confetti into the air even as Argyle began to clean.

"No clean! The party just start! Lots of time for party before cleaning!!" He protested, trying to shoo them away from the confetti.

It not a mess. Toddles knew what he was doing.

Callie 05-22-2018 09:51 PM

"I'm sorry, Toddles." And she really was. Quinn would have loved it if Toddles had thrown her a party, and if she had convinced the other elves to join in.
But it didn't seem to be working out that way. Everytime she seemed to try to help the poor teen elf out and try to convince the others to take a break and join in, more seemed to pop in to chide the poor guy. It didn't seem fair. Toddles had asked if they wanted a party. Quinn had say yes. But none of that seemed to matter, and there didn't seem to be much she could do.

Watching the wierd elf family squabble was also awkward. Frightfully awkward, honestly.
"Perhaps next time we'll get to have the party."

She stood up, collected her things, gave Toddles a sympathetic smile while she waited for Beth, and then made her way out of the Great Hall.

His Quinnie! and Open to anyone!

Reese was starving as he made his way to the Great hall for breakfast.. He was already looking for Quinnie when he walked into the hall. All the while his stomach growling.. He didn't much like sitting with his fellow Puffs.. He really struggled coming to terms with his unfortunate placement during the Sorting ceremony.. Or as he fondly called it.. The Hour of Shame.

Slowly, slowly he schlepped as his blue eyes scanned the room.. Hmm?.. Didn't look like she'd gotten there yet... No worries.. Can do this. Can go and sit at his own house table until she arrives. Then at least, he could nibble on some bacon while he waited..

Callie 05-31-2018 02:14 AM

Reese!!!

She entered, half expecting to need to look for Reese, as he wasn't always at the Hufflepuff table. Sometimes he'd wait for her around the Ravenclaw table, or visit Beth at the Slytherin table, or Rylee at Gryffindor. Sometimes, finding him was like finding a bowtruckle in a pile of sticks.

But today Reese was easily spotted. He stood in the entrance way, almost as if plucking up the courage to sit with his faux-house. She slipped in and stood at his side, opposite of the direction he was currently looking in. "If you don't mind, I don't feel much like being hugged by Octavia or having her fawn over how cute we are this morning. Ravenclaw table?"

Devina Wellheart 05-31-2018 02:00 PM

His Quinnie!

He was always in one place or another, but Schmebby knew he'd turn up soon enough.. But today?.. No search party needed.. His copper mop was like a beacon that would lead her or anyone else that happened to try and search him out, straight to him..

He looked up with a grin on his bacon greased lips.." Yeah.. Sounds good to me..", Reese replied as he got up to his feet and slung his bag over his shoulder. " How are ya feelin' this mornin'?.. "

The truth was, Reese worried about her. With the things she'd told him and her self-perceived uncertainty about her future with the Moons, he knew he was a huge source of quiet comfort for her. And being the Little Badger that he was he felt it was his job, as her boyfriend, to look out for her and reassure her as needed.

Callie 06-01-2018 12:12 AM

Reese!!!

Quinn smiled softly at Reese and looked down at her feet. "Better," she said and looked back up. "Thanks for letting me get all that off my chest yesterday. It helped."

Since he was already seated, Quinn made to sit down next to him, but stopped when he stood up and slung his bag over his shoulder. She arched an eyebrow at him wearing an amused smirk. It wasn't all that surprising he opted to leave this table for a different one. "Ravenclaw? Or we could visit Rylee at Gryffindor if you'd like?"

Yes, Reese. You heard right. Quinn and Rylee had started to work things out and where on their way, at least, to possibly being friends.

Devina Wellheart 06-01-2018 01:19 PM

His Quinnie! For Rylee too!!! <3

Reese wrapped his arm around her and gave her a quick, but sweet side hug when he fully standing, along with a little peck on her cheek. " Good... That's what I'm here for.. ", he smiled as he took her hand into his and threaded their fingers..

He blinked for a moment when he realized, after a brief moment of disbelief.. Surely, he'd heard her wrong, right? " Ya really wouldn't mind if we went over to Ry's table?!", he asked with possibly the biggest brightest smile he'd worn since stepping foot into the castle a few months prior. He didn't even give her a second to reply.. Nope!.. He simply led the way over to his sister's table and scanned the long plank table for her matching copper colored hair.

Kolyander 06-01-2018 01:52 PM

Quinn & Reese!

Rylee was tired. It had been a long long night and she hadn't gotten much sleep at all. The holiday's were coming up fast and with each day that passed she was working harder and harder at putting together a list of names of people she needed to get something for. This year... the list seemed fairly longer. There was also a special gift or two or maybe three that she was working on and well... she might have been failing at them all... badly. Hence the no sleep.

This left her sitting somewhere near the end of her house table, eating her waffles. Her blue eyes trained on the pages of a book she had set beside her plate, fork clattering down upon her plate as she dropped it to pick her wand. Muttering a quiet spell that would highlight a few lines of text for her in the book. Returning her wand the holster on her arm she picked up her fork once more and continued eating as if nothing had happened.

Callie 06-01-2018 01:55 PM

Reese! and Rylee too.

She smiled at the hug and the kiss, cheeks flushing pink, and smiled even wider when his hand took hers. "No, I wouldn't miii-----"

Before she could finish assuring him she didn't mind at all, she was being dragged by her very excited boyfriend toward the Gryffindor table. Behind him, a small, amused smirk had replaced her smile. His excitement was cute.

"There!" Quinn gestured to where Rylee was sitting with her free hand, and began to lead Reese, at a much calmer pace, over to his sister. She let him sit down next to Rylee first and than sat down next to him. "Morning, Rylee."

She was already grabbing a plate and starting to fill it with food.

Devina Wellheart 06-01-2018 02:05 PM

YAY! His Quinnie and Sissy!!!

Of course he was excited!.. This was the first time she'd suggested they go and sit with his older sister!. It was no secret that the two had been a little at odds since the trio met on the train on the way to school at the start of term. Not that either had any reason for the friction.. Just that they were two completely opposite people that's all.

" Oh!.. I see 'er!..", Reese exclaimed as he spotted his pointed out sister. And he allowed her to slow him as they both made their way over to the Lion's table.

" Hiya, Rylee!.. ", he said as he had a seat beside Rylee. " What's that yur readin'?. ", he asked as he glanced over at the open book beside her. Then he turned his attention to selecting his breakfast and filling his plate and belly.

Kolyander 06-01-2018 03:35 PM

Reese & Quinn!

Coming across one specific paragraph in her book, Rylee pushed her plate back a little bit. This might be something useful. Reaching down under the table at her feet she rummaged through her bag from some parchment and her quill. Quickly placing the parchment beside her book she jotted down a couple of notes in her own little made up language specifically used for her flower research.

The ginger haired lioness heard them before she saw either of them, her quill still quickly moving across the parchment. "Morning!," she greeted them both with a smile that she only just managed before turning her head to yawn onto her arm. "Herbology stuff." She folded the sheet of parchment tucking it into the book and closed the book sliding it beneath the table into her bag. "I can read it later though now that you both are sitting with me." It wouldn't be polite to keep reading her book and well she didn't want anyone knowing what she was planning for the holiday's anyhow.

"What what are you two up to today?" Another bite of her waffle made it into her mouth now that she wasn't focused on reading anymore.

Callie 06-03-2018 08:18 PM

Reese and Rylee

The second Rylee said it was a herbology book, Quinn lost interest. Oh, she recognized it was an important subject, important to know both for your own safety and for potions. And she paid attention and worked hard in class. And had no problem consulting a herbology book if she needed to, but it wasn't the most interesting subject, was it?

Now transfiguration, that was a different story. She was great at transfiguration, and it was endlessly fascinating what you could do with that focus of magic.

Quinn ate silently for a bit before answering Rylee with a shrug. "Classes of course. Maybe practice some charms later. I'm trying to get my wand to be less picky about which charms it likes and doesn't like." Which is a struggle sometimes, given her wand is cored with not one, but two known to be extremely temperamental cores. It made charms challenging, but she didn't mind a challenge.

And in the end, her rising to the challenge of it was bound to build an very strong bond to with her wand.

Kolyander 06-05-2018 02:34 PM

Reese & Quinn!

The fact that Quinn didn't say a word about her reading material wasn't unusual. Not everyone was into Herbology. Truth be told there was many times she had said she was reading about Herbology when she wasn't simply because she didn't want to be bothered with questions. Nine out of ten times it worked, depending on the person asking anyhow. Like now.

Rylee enjoyed a wide variety of books. As long as it held information that would be useful to something she was interested in. At least in the case of books that weren't fictional. She knew what she needed to accomplish and she knew that time was moving quickly, each day bringing the holidays closer. More reading and more experimenting had to happen.

Taking a sip of her juice to wash down her breakfast she glanced towards Quinn. "Oh? Is there a specific charm you're working on?" She might be able to offer some pointers in she was interested. Not everyone wanted the help, some preferred to do things on their own and that was all fine and good. It didn't hurt to ask though.

Rylee smiled at Reese glad that him and Quinn had come over and sat with her.

DAILY PROPHET 06-08-2018 06:49 PM

An owl loudly hoots amidst the breakfast chitter chatter, leading several other owls into the Great Hall. Just like every morning, they were here to deliver the wizarding paper.
PLOP!
PLOP!
PLOP!
PLOP!
Within a matter of seconds, stacks of papers tied with twine are scattered about the tables. The headline, visible underneath the twine, reads "Hoard Found in Hogwarts' Lake."

Better set your pumpkin juice aside, untie the twine, and grab your own copy.

Callie 06-08-2018 11:13 PM

Plop!

Quinn jumped as the newspapers landed on the table next to them. Daily Prophet. She wasn't the most avid reader of the newspaper, but still leaned forward to see if anything interesting graced the front page as she responded to Rylee.

"At the moment, reparo. My wand is quite finicky about charms it wants to perform..." Her voice trailed off as she caught the front page article. "We made the front page," she said, untying the stack and passing a paper to Rylee and Reese each. "Well Hogwarts and our creature companion treasure find..." She sat back with a copy of her own and started reading.

Kolyander 06-12-2018 03:00 PM

Quinn!

The loud hooting overhead could only mean one thing. Owls. Lots of them delivering the morning letters and papers to the students and staff alike. Right away, Rylee reached out to place a hand over her goblet of juice not wanting any feathers to land in it or for it to be knocked over.

"Ah, a fussy wand takes a bit more focus and time, hm?" she knew that it did but she was keeping the conversation going. "I can work on Reparo with you, if you like." It was one of the charms she knew how to cast already but she wouldn't at all mind working on the strength behind it to fix bigger things.

Hmm. "We did?" What was Quinn talking about. Hogwarts made the front page of the Daily Prophet? Oh. Whatever was in the article was about the creature companion activity... she would much rather forget about that... or at least most of it. "Thanks," she whispered taking the offered paper and quickly scanning the article.

Pips 06-19-2018 02:13 PM

*pop*

Pips looked around taking note of studentsies in the great hall. He needed to dust a few of the benches off before they all came in for their lunch time meals.

*hiccup*

twirling around with fast feet Pips set about dusting off all of the benches the studentsies would be sitting on soon.

DAILY PROPHET 06-22-2018 09:01 PM

Another day, another stack of papers to be delivered. The owls hooted as they flapped their wings and soared over the House tables.
PLOP!
PLOP!
PLOP!
PLOP!
Down came stacks of papers. Today's headline reads "Hogwarts Hoard to Headline New Exhibition."

With another round of hooting, the owls circled around the hall and left the way they came, one accidentally leaving behind a dropping and another making a quick dive for a sandwich before departing.

Tinka 07-07-2018 03:48 AM

Tinka quietly entered the Great Hall and began cleaning and dusting all of the tables. She was feeling lost without all of the house elves working together to keep Hogwarts in tip top shape. Algamus hadn't been himself, and that worried her more than anything else.

Reflections Post 1 :: Flying Long-Term Assignment

Anna was torn. She couldn't decide whether she was having a good time doing this assignment or not. Part of her was happy that she got to do an assignment on what she loved - all things fitness - but the other part was still wanting to whine because it WAS an assignment nonetheless, and she wasn't a fan of those.

That was the reason why she looked indecisive as she carried the notebook with her to the Great Hall to write the last bit of it while having breakfast right before the lesson when the assignment was due. Last minute pressure was the best type of pressure, y'know. That was how she rolled.

Plopping down at the Gryffindor table, she filled her plate with eggs and beans on toast and her goblet with orange juice. Taking the first bite, she opened the notebook next to her plate and started writing, not exactly being careful not to spill anything on it.

Text Cut: Notebook

Reflections:

Planning my workout sessions for the next five months was useful because I had something to follow and keep track of my progress. I found that it was helpful as I can now see how far I have come on each of the modalities of sports I have been training for.

I have improved my running time and know that as I decided it would be interesting to write down my time at the start of the plan and compare it at the end of it. I have shaved off 3 minutes of my 5K PB and that is brilliant, especially as it was already pretty good when I started the plan.

My flying also improved drastically, and I like to think that it is now even better than my running. I'm hoping I will definitely get first place in the broom races this summer.

I have realised I don't exactly need or want to focus much on martial arts. Although I find it interesting and am happy to keep training, I would rather focus on running, flying and Quidditch. For this reason, I did not follow through with the training schedule I created for martial arts 5 months ago, but I kept the training at 10-15 minutes and usually did it before I went for a run.

Unfortunately we didn't win the Quidditch Cup, but I suppose that is not all dependent on my performance as it is all group work. No, I am not blaming anyone for our loss, but I am finding it hard to measure improvement as we lost the Cup.

To conclude, I suppose it is useful to have a schedule and a plan at the start of the year and I have realised it is okay to not stick to that plan, but it can be very helpful to follow through with it as well. I might try and do a year long planning for next year, but I'm not sure whether I will yet.

As she finished writing, the Gryffindor closed the notebook carelessly and put it away alongside her quill. She swallowed her last bit of toast and drank the remaining orange juice from her goblet as she got up and swung her bag over her shoulder. Lesson time!

Post 1: Reflections

As Skylar neared the end of her month-long recorded training period and her final year was in the foreseeable distance, the snake captain headed to the great hall for some food and to write up a reflection on how she thought documenting her training went.

Before she started writing, she might have spooned extra food onto her plate and was digging in without reservation because she was an athlete and consumed food like it was water. Okay, stomach full, she removed her black journal from her bag and flipped through it, smiling at the activities she'd both planned for and ad-libbed. And at the end, turned a blank page and started to write.

SPOILER!!: Notes

Overall it was a good challenge because it allowed me to use what I already do on the regular, but to document my activity so I knew exactly what I do. But instead of typical runs, I found myself challenging myself to do more because I wanted to have something impressive to show in my journal. I didn't want it to be just a log of running, but I wanted to be able to say I changed my routine. I found new and innovative ways instead to get my heartrate accelerated and the endorphins flowing.

I don't know if it will be enough to allow me to pass my NEWTs, because I don't sit for those exams until next month and don't know how prepared I am, as it's not something that can ever be known? I do know that as I felt them looming nearer, I've spent more time on the books, rehearsing everything I've learned for seven years. As far as my goal of being accepted to a desirable Wizarding University Program, I've been accepted to three journalism programs and one for Magizoology Healing, most recently. I have not heard back favorably yet from a cursebreaking program, but I'm optimistic. To be honest, my major goals were sort of on the irrelevant side now that I consider them, which I guess means I achieved my minor goal looking back because of how NOT focused I was when I created these goals. Which means I have definitely increased my focus over the course of the past few months.

On the quidditch pitch? I'm not sure, considering I didn't do so well in my final game at Hogwarts and Slytherin lost the Quidditch Cup. Though one thing I do know from my years of playing quidditch is that it takes more than one individual to win a match, so I'm not sure I can be fully blamed.

Would I continue to keep an activity log? Probably not because exercise is something I regularly partake in and while I do enjoy writing, having to take that extra step to document what I did seems wasteful on my time. But I will try to focus to create more relevant goals for myself.

One last thing: don't ever try to sprint up the moving staircases!

Setting her quill down, she re-read her mini essay before closing her journal to drop off at Professor Baldvinnson's hut later that day.
