Fruit Bowl

Out of all of the paintings hanging on the walls of the basement corridor, the one depicting a silver fruitbowl is an easy favourite for some of those here at Hogwarts. While many may think that there is nothing special about this particular painting, those who are well-informed about its purpose know what lies beyond. Past this painting is where all of the food you stuff in your mouth three or more times a day is made.

If you're in the need of second breakfast, elevenses, or a mid-afternoon snack, then this is the place to be. If you are someone who knows this particular castle secret, you know those bananas and grapes aren't there just to make your mouth water and your stomach rumble. Simply reach out your hand and tickle the delicious-looking pear in the corner. After it has a squirming fit and laughs, it will transform into a green door-knob and grant you access to the grand Hogwarts kitchen where anything you desire can be whipped up in no time at all.

One of the best bits about being a hufflepuff was the fact that her common room was so close to the kitchens. It was always useful when she was feeling a little peckish and wanted something to eat. She had found it very useful last term, when she'd wanted to try and reward herself for all of her studying. But now, she wasn't doing that. She was just heading to get herself a snack before she headed back into her common room. That was why it was so handy, she could literally pop into the kitchen, and then five minutes later she was in her bed. It was perfect. She was heading along the corridor in the basement, so she could go to the fruit bowl. She wasn't sure how many people knew this secret, but she was happy about it.

The blonde smiled, thinking about what she was going to eat once she got into the kitchen. Maybe she'd see if there were any strawberries. Yum.

Professor Noble knew this corridor well, it having been one of his usual haunts once upon a time. He resided a bit further away these days, but still close enough to come spoil his appetite for dinner between classes.

Eh, who was he kidding? With cooking like this in the castle, his appetite was never spoiled. His supposed diet, yes. But his appetite? No way.

So of course it was no surprise to him when he caught up with one of the Hufflepuff students headed in the same direction. "Feeling peckish, Hattie?"

Algamus 01-08-2018 04:50 AM

Algamus was annoyed. Studentsies making a mess and not evens back a month.

Sweep, sweep, sweep, went the elf's broom as he made his way along the corridors.

"Outs!" he scolded grumpily, upon seeing the new potions master and an older Hufflepuff girl. Swatting his broom at them. "Aways. Aways with yous. Yous wants to eat, you eats in the Great Hall!" Yes, he was grumpy, but he didn't like the students and professors going willy-nilly into his kitchen. Not when they couldn't even keep a corridor clean.

Nearly there! Hattie was beginning to think that she had forgotten how far away the kitchens actually were. But she was nearly there, and she could practically taste the brownies that she was going to have. She nearly jumped though as she heard another voice. It wasn't as if she couldn't be here, but she didn't want to be in trouble. The blonde stopped, turning around to smile at the professor. "Hello Professor Noble" She murmured with a smile. His tone of voice didn't make it feel like she was going to be in trouble. But one could never know. She hoped that she wasn't going to in trouble, because that would really suck.

She was about to answer his question when suddenly a house elf was swatting her with his broom. "Hey!"" The blonde said, shaking her head. "Don't do that. It's not nice!" And why couldn't she come here? Rude house elf.

She wasn't in trouble, not at all. Professor Noble was in a relatively decent mood for once. Well, he was until they stumbled across a certain grumpy House Elf. Noble pursed his lips and looked thoughtfully to the side a moment, hatching a plan.

"Algamus, my dear chap..." he started, with as much friendliness towards the elf as he could muster. "Could you just hold this for me a minute? Super important school business you see." He reached into his robes, and, for lack of any better items upon his person, pulled out a collapsible cauldron. A light flick of his wrist, and it started to take shape. Oh look, and it even had some of the potion he'd last been brewing in it still! Hmm...a slightly pungent one at that. He held it out for the house elf to take.

"Harriet and I just need to check on something for class right there in the kitchen. We won't be two ticks."

RachieRu 01-19-2018 07:28 PM

Harriet was just so glad that the professor was with her. This would not have gone well if she was on her own. Whilst the girl knew she could easily go to the great hall to get food, it was just sometimes a lot easier to just go to the kitchen. And honestly. She wasn't going to listen to this house elf. She was always polite, and kept things tidy when she was in the kitchen. So she was totally not at fault. But she was glad Professor Noble was here, and that he could clearly think of his feet. That was a good quality, and one she probably needed to work on. Just in case this situation happened again.

"Oh yes" The blonde nodded, playing along. "Very important class matter...."

Of course it had to be one of the older studentsies to be all polite and sweet and scolding him, but Algamus didn't care. Nor was he phased with Professor Noble's friendliness, because who called him 'my dear chap'? Certainly not Mr New Professor. The senior elf made a face when the Potions master handed him one his brews, which was quite awful smelling, if Algamus did say so himself.

"I am not your servant" Really, he should get Toddles to do it; that little baby elf was eager to do just about anything. Delicately holding out away from him, he set on the broom bristles to balance it out and leaned against the stone wall, watching the two interact and quietly observing.

hermygirl 02-04-2018 06:00 PM

If he was surprised Harriet had caught on so quickly, Noble didn't show it. Instead his gaze was on the house elf, who seemed unusually unwilling to serve. He knew Algamus was grumpy at the best of times, but apparently they'd stumbled upon him at a particularly bad moment. Since when had the kitchen been out of bounds to Hufflepuffs?

"As I said," Noble replied, a gruff tone returning to his voice. If the elf didn't feel the need for niceties, neither did he. "School business." Of course the elf wasn't his servant. He was just giving the elf a little distraction to get what he needed to do done.

Ensuring he wasn't hangry whilst teaching was totally school business, right?

"Shall we, Harriet?"
