Alchemy & Potions https://cdn.nickpic.host/images/ptDmxd.jpg |
don't knock anything over Puck thought to herself as she made her way to the area indicated for the potioneers and alchemists…oh look all the alchemical tools were wondrous but even if she loved it (which she did, most definitely) that wasn't Puck's true wheelhouse. She had come here more because of the Potions she had slowly been curating since well…she was still attending Hogwarts. |
Isidora Stark had spent the better part of her day prior to coming here telling her seven year old that no, she could NOT come to this event with her. There would be enough children around that she most certainly did not like, and Hogwarts had a history of 'accidents' happening, she didn't want Octavia around all of this. She did, however (because she couldn't outright say no to her child), promise to bring back something if she thought the small girl would like it. That of course, was not the most pressing thing on her mind. She was first attempting to figure if she had to stay here the entire time, and exactly how long that was. It hadn't exactly been Dora's idea to do this. No, that was her business partners who had insisted that one of them attend in hopes of gaining new applicants for their fellowship. And why not the one who had spent seven years in this castle? The twenty eight year old held no fondness in her hazel-green eyes as she looked around. It was just another place that happened to have some of her history echoing within it's walls. And some of her alchemy tools. New ones that couldn't be damaged, and some things to give away. That was nice of her, so see? She was trying. Oh, and there was the pregnant woman she was sharing the booth with. Dora wasn't being rude to her, but she certainly didn't make a point to start up conversation while they waited for the kids to arrive. |
Anna thought the idea of the job fair was interesting, although she wasn't exactly expecting to decide what she would do for the rest of her life just yet. That didn't bother her, though, but curiosity got the best of her and she was willing to go through as many booths as possible to collect as much information as she could. And if she could take all of the brochures with her, the better! As the Auror and Quidditch booths were way too full for her liking, she decided to go to the one that seemed rather empty still. That didn't put her off, in fact, it had the opposite effect on the second year. That meant the two adults would be able to chat to her for as long as she wanted without being inundated with other students' questions. Alchemy and Potions. Hmmm... sounded interesting enough. "Hi!" The Gryffindor greeted the both of them with a quick wave, scanning the table in front of her for brochures and other things. "What subjects do I need to study to be an alchemist?" She asked, still looking at all of the goodies they were offering. Potions was a given, but it couldn't really be the only thing, right? |
One thing anyone could tell you about Théodore is he was not the best at potions. But alchemy sounded cool so here he was. Plus he kinda already knew what he wanted to do which was quidditch so he did not even need to go over to the table or maybe later. Which meant he was wandering from table to table looking for the most interesting jobs or people. It all depended on whatever. This was much more enjoyable than any lesson. "Hey Potion Alchemy People. What do Alchemists do that is different the Potioneers?" He asked looking around the table. Interesting stuff |
Puck didn't think that Dora, her tablemate was being rude. No, it was often hard or even strange to start a conversation with someone you never knew…but, still, they'd likely converse later right? When the kids were there. |
ahhh, we're changing her color lol, XD Quote:
Maeve honestly had mostly come down to the Great Hall for the FOOD and the FREE Giveaways. She was only thirteen and in NO way thinking about jobs or her future just yet. Actually, if she was being honest, she was maybe SLIGHTLY curious if there would be a magical inventing table and if anyone worked with or knew Millicent Walsh. Yes, she was able to see her mother, but it wasn't really the same. It hadn't been the same in over four years. Ooh, alchemy looked interesting... mostly because Anna was there, and the blond girl bounded up behind her dormmate, in time to hear her question about being an alchemist. "oh, wasn't like Nicholas Flamel an alchemist?" See, she read her books, sometimes. Ooh, what giveaways did they have? Interesting table over here, and no, no questions. She was just peering at the table, wide-eyed |
"Nicholas Flamel was an alchemist." Dora confirmed for the young girl that wandered up to their table, hazel-green eyes lingering on her table mate as she attempted to explain the differences in their professions. She wasn't wrong, but she was most definitely better off leaving those explanations to Dora herself as she was trained in both professions, and not herself. Anyway, Dora was playing nice today - she had promised - so she only piggybacked off of what Puck had said. "If you have an interest in perusing alchemy, I suggest mastering potions first, as it's supremely more difficult that the aforementioned profession. They both require the same OWL and NEWT scores, and while it's not required to have taken the elective offered here, it does look good on applications." See? Nice. And as an afterthought. "It also benefits you to have references, so I would start schmoozing your professors and headmaster now." That was how she got a superb apprenticeship. |
Anna smiled at Maeve when her friend joined her at the booth and nodded at her question and the lady's answer. She knew that Flamel had been an alchemist, yep. Potions and Transfiguration then? The second year watched as both witches explained the difference between Alchemy and Potions. The former was supremely more difficult? For some reason that made Anna more curious. Then again, it had always sounded like a good subject to experiment with. "What OWLs and NEWTs are required then?" The lioness asked with interest, looking down at the table to see if she could find a flyer or brochure. Oh, a goodie bag would be cool as well. Anna liked free stuff. |
