The Tea Room

https://s19.postimg.org/dk3pg3k5f/tearoom-thread.png

A room that has been used over the Hogwarts years for different divinatory purposes has been opened up again for the use of both students and faculty alike. It's located to the right of the drop down ladder to the Divination classroom. The tea room is a small tower room about the size of a professor's office, but without all the furniture. The room is decorated with a handful of small circular tables and chairs in the center with different coloured tea sets set up for either practice or a pleasurable afternoon tea time with friends. The floor is covered in a comfy red rug and lighting is provided by a big chandelier hanging from the ceiling and small firefly lamps on the tables. A few cupboards in student height line the back wall filled with divination equipment from tarot decks, dream diaries, scrying objects, lithomancy stones and the occassional crystall ball that anyone is free to use.

OOC: All School and SS rules apply! Professor Vance or someone else will most likely catch you if you use this room inappropriatley or for snogging, so be warned. But most of all have FUN!

In had been a while since he had stretched his Inner Eye. The combination of his growing adoration for tea and curiosity was what brought the Hufflepuff to the tea room this afternoon after a particularly excruciatingly long research session on a certain Potion in the library. Although, truth be told, the third year had become distracted looking at diagrams rather than the text itself so it was quite questionable as to whether or not he had learned AND retained anything.

The tea room was full of distractions as well and, seeing as this was the first time he had been in here, Derf naturally wanted to touch EVERYTHING. Although he did eventually end up with a deck of Tarot cards in his hand as he plopped down on the floor rather than take a chair. The red rug was more than comfy enough to support his bum.

Tarot deck to his side, Derf was currently staring at an empty tea pot in front of him in deep mental preparation for casting Aguamenti and hopefully NOT turning his wand into a magical sprinkler this time.

Scarlett didn't have to exactly STUDY for Divination or anything, since OWLs were over and the craft came naturally to her, but she still enjoyed going to the tea room to just relax and work on honing her skills. It reminded her of home too - her dad had converted one of the rooms in their basement into a sort of divining den, so she had been able to practice over the summer as well without hearing the sound of a kid screaming in the background or someone bothering her to do chores.

She was a little surprised, however, when she walked in, tarot card deck in hand, and found someone already there. She knew her favorite subject wasn't exactly one of the more POPULAR subjects, so it was odd to find...well...ANYONE there. She recognized the kid's face but didn't remember his name - she DID know he was in her brother's year, though. And wasn't his friend sucked into that portal or something? She'd heard only whispers about that one, having stayed FARRR away from it herself.

"Oh, sorry, didn't know anyone would be here," she said with a soft smile, settling in to her normal seat in the corner.

Bre!

Olivia had a LOT of things on her mind. Not so much classes per say and faring well in classes and all but more so about her friends. Being sixteen was definitely trying for sure at times. Though then again, maybe it was just her overcomplicating everything? Perhaps but maybe divination could help her understand and work through what she was feeling.

So the brunette decided to take a short trip (from her common room) to the tea room. Here she set about making herself a cup of tea. She picked up a teapot and pack of tarot cards from the cupboards and then brought them back to the table. Vi had read online over the summer how to read using tarot cards but she had only tried it a couple of times. She'd leave that to if she felt compelled to look at that fortune compared to reading her tea leaves. Now time to get ready...

Choosing a floral teapot, she placed it on the table in front of her, took out her wand and cast a heating charm. Once the teapot was warm, she then cast Augmenti. The teapot filled nicely with water and then Vi cast another heating charm. Right. All she needed was for the water to boil. In the meantime, she'd shuffle the tarot cards because she didn't bring anything else with her to do.

Derf had busied himself with laying the cards out haphazardly on the floor in no real divining spread at all. He really just wanted to look at the illustrations to be honest and this particular deck had a feline theme he had not seen before so...admiring was happening.

Until he was joined by someone else that is.

Peeking up, the third year naturally recognized the older Hufflepuff and greeted her with a grin. "I don't mind if you don't," he shrugged while waving The Fool card in his hand. It was currently his favorite from the deck.

Scarlett couldn't help but notice the cool design on the back of the deck that the younger boy was toying with. She sat up a bit straighter in the little cushion tower she had made for herself, smiling at him.

"Cool deck! I've never seen a pattern like that before...but I'm more into the traditional designs myself,"
she explained, showing off her own deck. It had all the traditional designs, but in a pastel color theme as opposed to the normal drab colors. "My dad's is cool, it has GALAXY patterns on the back that actually move and swirl and stuff. It's awesome, he would never let me us it though," she added with a small chuckle.

Oh. Whoops. She was rambling. And probably driving the young boy crazy.

Hardly driving this Hufflepuff crazy - not to mention it would be REALLY hypocritical were he to be upset by someone rambling considering how loose his own lips were once he started going on creatures. "Read somewhere that if you pick decks and stuff that appeal to you personally then it's more likely to resonate with your Inner Eye...." he explained. Whether or not he had ACTUALLY read that somewhere or dreamed it up was an entirely different matter however.

He did lean over a bit to take a better look at her own deck as she spoke about her dad's. "That sounds really NEAT!" he chirped, eyes looking back to his feline variety. "Wonder if...I knew an animation spell...if I could get these to move about..." Although he was far more likely to set the cards aflame before successfully animating anything. But his attention was back on the older girl. "Did...you come here to practice?"

Which tarot cards, that is.

This was her favorite place. She really didn't know why it was her favorite place but it just was. It made her feel at home but at the same time she obviously she wasn't home. This wasn't her first year at Hogwarts, she was no transfer but she does tend to keep to herself. She wanted to make all the friends in the world but her shyness would get in the way. Her shyness and her insecurities. Anastasie just wished she didn't have to deal with these two major things in her life.

The red haired Slytherin made her way towards the tea room. She didn't know what the tea leave would have to say to her but she would soon find out once she got into the Divinations classroom. Ana gracefully walked into the room and went over towards the tea pots. The third year looked over at the older girl that was closest to her. "Um...er...excuse me? Have you see any sort of fortune yet?" the Polish girl asked her, her voice was a little shaky but she still managed to get the words out of her mouth.

With the tea brewed, she poured a cup of tea and then focused on the deck of cards in her hand. She began by shuffling the cards carefully. She relaxed, staring off in the distance as she continued to shuffle said cards.... Things were on her mind. Lots of things. Classes. Friends. Boyfriends. Ahem..... And then she heard a voice.

A voice that she didn't recognize.

Vi had yet to turn over one card when a redheaded girl had come over towards her. The girl seemed sweet and her accent... was interesting for sure. "Not yet. I was just beginning to start reading my fortune... but I can take a look at yours if you'd like. Take a seat. Come join me. I'm Olivia."

"Sound theory," Scarlett replied with a nod. She wasn't sure how true it was, really, but she had only her dad's experience to go off of. His Inner Eye had never TRULY gotten off the ground. At least not in the way that most people would think.

She laughed and nodded. "I don't see why not! And yeah, it kind of just helps me...think and relax. It's easy for me, more of a hobby than a school subject," she explained as she shuffled the deck in her hands.

Sound theory? THAT brought a huge smile to the third year's face for sure. Very VERY rarely did his theories gain praise so this was really, special, you know?

Wiggling in place and ruffling his hair anxiously, Derf took a tiny Hufflepuff risk and moved a bit closer. "Can I watch? Or learn? Or both? Do me? A reading I mean?"
