Kitchen https://s26.postimg.org/vyaxb8xp5/kitchen-banner.jpg Once you've tickled the pear and turned the knob, the Hogwarts kitchen will be revealed to you. Located directly beneath the Great Hall, the kitchen is a high-ceilinged room with five identical tables to the ones in the dining room above. Unlike the room situated above however, heaped around the walls are large quantities of pots and pans. On one end of the room are shelves of plates and utensils, stoves, sinks, and a large brick fireplace. |
The first few nights back in the Castle were decidedly tough for Felicity: she wasn't sleeping well, and it was frustrating because she loved her dorm and the girls, but something always felt off. Maybe it was the fact that when she couldn't sleep, she couldn't just pad along to the lounge and sit with her dad, that he wasn't there to make her laugh and read to her. So maybe it was stupid that she still liked that kind of thing at fifteen, but really, she didn't care. She'd cherish the relationship with her parents, always, decidedly. The most annoying part was missing breakfast and having to go straight to class because of the desire to remain in bed for as long as possible. It only meant that by first break, Liss was starving, and so she headed down to the kitchens, debating what to ask the elves to rustle up. |
The studentsies has come backses!! This was Beezley's favorite time of year, yes it was. As she scurried around the kitchens with the other elves, her eyes were bright and full of excitement. Beezley is a good elf, and she likes working. There was never enough work for the elves when the studentsies went home, no there wasn't. But they were back now and-- And there was a studentsie coming in now! Beezley's eyes went wide as saucers, yes they did, and she carefully navigated the kitchen so that she was soon right in front of the young miss. Who looked sad and hungry! Beezley couldn't allow any studentsie to feel either of those things, no she couldn't. She sketched a graceful bow to the studentsie and squeaked, "Good morning, young miss! How can Beezley help young miss? Is you wanting extra foodsies?" Because she could get that for the young miss right away. |
Joy couldn't believe it... she had slept in and missed breakfast. Her stomach was growling desperately at her. She needed something to eat, RIGHT NOW. Still groggy, she found her way into the kitchen to find herself a snack. Let's see... Oh, there were house elves here. Maybe one of them could help her? She didn't know if she should ask. Her family never had a house elf.... Her great-grandmother had been furious at the idea of house elves working in the school. She'd tried to free them. At least, that's what Joy had heard. Then again, she was so hungry. And she didn't know her way around the kitchens. Surely if she could find an elf who genuinely wanted to help her, that wouldn't be so bad? But she wanted to try wandering around on her own for a bit. No need to give a busy elf one more thing to worry about. She'd ask for help if she needed it. Yes, that's what she would do. |
"Needs Worcester sauce, Pips does," Pips commented to no-one in particular, hunched over a bubbling pot on the stove. "Just a dash, not too much. Make best Shepherd's Pie for the studentsies. Masters and mistresses no go hungry when Pips is cooking." This was his favourite time of year, the kitchens exploding into life once more. So many students to serve, so many new recipes to try. Busy, busy, that's what Pips was! But not too busy to serve a student. Never too busy for that! Pips lives to serves the studentsies. Spying Mistress Harrington standing there, he hopped down from the counter and gave her a deep bow behind Beezley. "Mistress Harrington! Pips has muffins straight the oven...or whip up some pancakes, Pips can." Oh! But another student (Joy) had wandered in too. A new face Pips didn't recognise. How exciting! "Does the young misses need some help?" Pips could help! |
Joy hadn't noticed the elf standing close to her, and jumped when he addressed her. "Oh!" She said, startled. "Oh, er.... Well, you must be very busy," she replied. "I'm just trying to find something to eat. I... er... I missed breakfast, you see." The last thing she wanted was to feel like she was making someone else work for her. "How rude of me," she continued, "I haven't introduced myself. I'm Joy Williams. I'm a first year. Hufflepuff." She smiled kindly at the elf. "What's your name?" |

Oh! A HOUSE ELF. |
MORE STUDENTSIES! Beezley's eyes almost popped out of her head as two more young mistresses entered the kitchen (Joy and Stephanie). Pips had come over to help the young mistresses too. Pips was a good elf, yes he was. But Beezley was a good elf too! She sketched all three young mistresses deep bows, and let out a squeak of excitement before she said: "What can Beezley get young mistresses? Beezley can help, yes she can." The smallest young mistress, Mistress Williams, had said she was hungry and Beezley waited eagerly to hear what the young miss wanted to eat, yes she did. |
The House Elves never failed to melt Felicity’s heart – forget first years, these were the cutest things in the Castle. Their complete and utter helpfulness and seeming eagerness would never fail to make her smile: if they hadn’t acted in such a way, she was sure that she would have been advocating for their release, but they seemed so happy to be here. Smiling at Beezley as she approached, Felicity offered her own little curtsey. SO CUTE. “That’s so kind of you,” she said, looking around at the sound of another student entering the kitchen to. Liss gave that person (Joy) a smile, before Pip was in front of her. How did he even keep track of so many names?! “Oh, muffins?” Her eyes lit up at the sound of them being fresh from the oven. “One of those would be amazing.” Quote:

He grabbed a whisk and a bowl, and skipped over to the pantry to get some eggs. Pancakes, he was going to make Mistress Williams! Quote:
HICCUP. HICCUP. |

"Would you like the elves to make you something? Like a full on breakfast?" Because the redhead would definitely ask for a full on breakfast, maybe if she had just eaten an hour earlier too. Stephanie looked at the house elf and smiled. She knew they were always down here, but never really interacted with one until now. "Hello, I'm Stephanie," |

"You almost burnt it down?" The fifth year grinned at the younger girl, hoping she didn't think that she was mocking her. She was just amused. "I didn't think anyone could be quite a clumsy as I am." Of course, she'd never even come close to a house fire, but that was probably because there was no way either of her fathers would have ever let her bake alone. "I'm good with he muffins," Liss nodded, smiling as she took one from the tray. A full on breakfast sounded like a wait. |

"Lets get a drink first Zoryn then look around" Uh what were they looking for again. Sunflower seeds, grass and lettuce leaves? That sounded close enough. "Sunflower seeds?" |
Quote:
"OMG can you believe we're the first ones here?!?!" She BEAMED her partner after scanning the entirety of the kitchens to see if she could spot their other classmates. Nope. Just them!! This was gonna be AWESOME. They were SO winning. "Good thinking!" Zor ran over to pour them both a glass of cold water. "Y'wanna find the seeds? I can get the leaves and the grassy stuff!!!" She nodded LOADS. Splitting up sounded like a good idea since they wanted to be the first ones back. ... Did Théo say sunflower seeds? The third year was pretty sure they were meant to find fireseeds or whatever, but eh. Sunflower seeds were probably close enough to work. Fire and sun were both hot? And they're both seeds? So yeah. Zoryn didn't see the problem. In the mean time she ran to the refrigerators to find leaves. After pulling open a few random drawers, she came across bushels of spinach. LEAVES. Of course she didn't know that this is what spinach looked like. Zoryn Amari Spinnet ALWAYS avoided green food 'cause green food was meant for gardens, not for inside of tummys. Just sayin'. Grabbing a bunch of the spinach and stuffing it into a plastic bag she had brought with her, she called over to Théo, "GOT THE BETONY LEAVES!" Okay... So next was... Star grass???? Hm. They probably had some of that in here too. The Gryffindor kept searching. Did Théo find the seeds? |
Quote:
Perfect. Théo was pretty sure they were suppose to get botany leaves to lettuce leaves like he first thought. Def not spinach leaves. But maybe leaves were leaves and it would not make a difference. "GOT THE SEEDS!" Théo yelled holding them up. Whats next grass. Think they would have to go outside for that. But Reed said everything was inside. Weird. "Grass inside?" Théo was stumped |
Quote:
The Gryffindor was stumped. Truly. She gave Théo a deep shrug and starting searching through the different drawers again. They were bound to find something here. She didn't see why Professor Healer Reed would send them off in loads of different directions to find their potions ingredients. It only made sense that they could all be found together in the kitchen. Zoryn was REALLY sure of it. Seeing something that appeared green and stringy like grass, Zoryn reached for it and held the whole bunch in the air. "D'you think this looks like stargrass?" Parsley. It was most definitely parsley. But again, did Zoryn know what parsley looked like? Absolutely not. Did she know what stargrass looked like? Even more of a definitely not. If anything, the leaves looked sorta star-like. Maybe it was like cousins to stargrass or something. Either way, it was close enough. Zoryn was sure Professor Healer Reed would be very impressed with all of their innovation. Maybe their potion would turn out even stronger 'cause of all their creative powers!!!!! BEST.TEAM. EVER!!! Okay they were leaving now. |

Pips pulled on his ears, eyes wide and flustered. Misses Harrington didn't need to help, oh no! "Pips is sorry...*HIC*...for whisk...*HICCUP*...the dropping! Make the Mistresses...*HICCUP*...yummy breakfast....*HIC*...Pips will." He held out a hand for the whisk, meaning to go take it to be washed. A dirty whisk he couldn't be using, not in his kitchen! But Pips couldn't help but overhear the girls talking. Burnt cupcakes? That couldn't be good at all, no. Pips unfurled his ears, and tilted his head at the studentsies, his hiccups dissipating. "Pips makes good cupcakes. Pips will help the misses, if the misses wants Pips to." |
For Pixie/Derf (and any elves that may want to join in <3) She’d stopped for a while after the dorm ransacking, just because she hadn’t felt like doing much besides dwell on everything. But after that had been taken care of, Stasya had gotten a bit back to her normal self. At least, she’d gotten resolved to pretend that things didn’t bother her as much as they really were, just like she’d done at the beginning of term after she’d talked to Professor Hirsch and then Professor Marchand about her papa. That still bothered her, but she had to be strong. It was especially hard now, considering she still hadn’t figured out why she’d found herself in a random corridor in the middle of the night about a month earlier. That and she still wasn’t entirely comfortable sleeping in the dorms again, even thought they’d mostly been put back together. For now, though, she wanted to refill her cookie stock, which meant a visit to the kitchens to make some. Either by herself or with the house elves, but she did feel like she could manage it on her own. And she’d stay out of the elves’ way if necessary because they deserved respect. And maybe cookies once she’d finished baking. Except first she had to collect what she needed to bake them, and she needed to decide what kinds she wanted to make this time. Definitely chocolate, but she could make other kinds too. Even if she wasn’t making cookie gifts right now. |
Pips had been busy busy all morning. First with breakfast, and then with trying out a new recipe he'd hoped the studentsies would love for dessert. The finished tart now sat steaming on the worktop, and Pips wafted a tray back and forth over the top to help it cool. It was the best kind of day. And oh! His eyes widened as he saw the portrait open, and he hopped down off the stool excitedly. "What can Pips get for the Mistress Dalgaard-Volkova?" He clapped his hands together, before giving her a low bow. "Pips has fresh new tart made if the miss wants to taste? Or something else he can make too!" |
