The Dining Saloon http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/a...pszptt95zp.jpg Step aboard the Merlin's Pride and make your way to the dormal Dining Saloon where you will enjoy the fancier foods in life. The salon is elegantly decorated in soft neutral colors such as tans, golds, and blacks. The lighting has been dimmed for a more romantic feeling as you feast. The walls are lined with candles, illuminating the room for that same romantic feeling. The centrepieces are each inspired by elegance, each table's centerpiece differs from the next. SPOILER!!: The Merlin's Pride Menu |
Got the okay to say Sam is with Jer ^_^ "I don't think they'll have hot dogs. I mean, it's not as fancy as some of these foods.'' There was a frown on Jeremy's face. He loved hot dogs, man. LOVED them. They were like his favourite thing EVER. "Don't even bother looking for skittles, Sam. They're not going to be there for dessert so don't bother looking.'' Even though he was STILL looking hopefully for hot dogs. "Hang on...'' Jer leaned closer to the table. "Is that Buffalo Dog?'' Hey, it would be the closest thing to the usual hot dog with chilli that he usually enjoyed. "It is!" Without further ado, the guy reached for one which he plopped on a plate. "Hmm. Might have to get another.'' And so he did! Two for him! |

Sam made a face at her brother. "Gross. They have that stuff but no skittle?" What was wrong with this picture so far?! Everything! Letting out a frustrated breath. "They don't even appear to have smoothies... tell me again why we came to this?" It was sad. No skittles. No smoothies. At least she looked good tonight if nothing else. |
Melanie Williams kept her enemies close and her purse closer. Tonight, at least, she had it tucked snugly under her arm because within held a few surprises, both of which would amused her brother. She waited for him in the eating area, apparently called the "Dining Saloon." It made her think of the wild west and not a boat, but that was all right. What did they have for dinner, then? Circe, they had a ton! Her eyes glazed over the menu briefly before going to collect a plate and fill it with a shrimp pesto pasta. She had dessert covered, but the dessert table still called to her like a haunting ex. "Hurry up, Duncan," she muttered to herself, careful not to include any words in her vocabulary that would cause alarm to younger students. It was hard being an adult with a school full of children sometimes. The porcelain dining-ware was beautiful. Melanie knew her grandmother would have tried to sneak some of out in her purse; her mother would have been appalled at her mother-in-law. Melanie chuckled at the thoughts, remembering what feisty ladies she had come from. Grandma, I might just steal a plate for you tonight. She would see how much room her expanded purse would allow. Mocktails would only make her sad, so she got a citrus tea punch, a big glass of it. It was delicious. Melanie nodded in approval. |

The Potions Master walked down the steps and towards the Dining Saloon first. Why it was called a Saloon of all things, he didn't know and he didn't care to know. The meaning of the word might have been general but there was no point in denying that it had some connotations to the Western culture. Even he, a Southern American, knew this well. It was a shame because the rest of the place looked almost flawless. This was high praise, indeed. Grabbing a plate, Duncan let his nose decide on some beef chilli, a paella rice dish and, of course, a mocktail. The man was more than comfortable with his sexuality to care about how unmanly this drinks choice was. He also had more pressing matters on his hands, like looking for Melanie through the dim lighting that the hosts had decided would be appropriate in a situation like this. Once he'd wandered around and spotted the twin, he meandered over and helped himself to a seat. If she was waiting for someone else, then it was tough luck for them. "Not stealing anything, I hope, Mel." He shot her a smirk as he picked up a fork and a knife to dig into his beef chilli. |
Angie! ^___^ The first place that Evan headed to once he's on the ship was... The dining area. Surprise, surprise. The theme and concept of the party seemed great, the ship too was majestic (and he'd never been on a cruise before) and he did have a high hope that they served some great mouth-watering food here. Even thinking about the cuisine already made his stomach grumbled. Probably the Ilvermorny boy should act a little bit cooler than he used to because: 1) He wore a suit, which he rarely did and 2) He had a date. Although his date, Manuela, was also a friend of him but still, doing a little bit good impression wouldn't hurt, right? "We should grab some food first before anything else." He said mentioning his life motto. Linking his arm to Manuela's, Evan led his date to one of the table. So far, he felt like he did great even though his heart started beating faster. "You look lovely, by the way." His eyes widened as he looked up at the menu. They had Philly Cheesesteak and Sriracha Burger! |

Whatever it was on their minds could wait. "What are you going to do about it?" she demanded. |
SPOILER!!: Sam! <3 Skittle obsessed sister. This was whom he was tagging along with. Jer knew her all too well (must have had something to do with sharing a womb for nine months) and it was easy to see that she had been disappointed since coming here to Hogwarts. "You should have brought an stash of Skittles then. You know, a year long supply. Did I ever mention that you eat too many Skittles. All that sweet is going to make zits pop up on your face.'' He poked her on the cheek. Jer stuck his nose in the air. "It's not gross. It's a relative of the hot dogs with chilli.'' Was it? He had no clue whatsoever but he'd be putting this delight in his stomach. "So that I can be annoyed with everyone as usual and for you to hunt for Skittles.'' Pause. "Plus I asked Aurora to come with me as my date.'' Jer wiggled his brows. "Me on a date with a champion. I'm proud of myself.'' |
Quote:
She crinkled her nose again. The only chili she liked was her daddy's. "It's not. Buffalo is very different than chili." Didn't this boy know anything. Sigh. Moving around her brother to get a better look at the food on the other side of the table she finally found something she could eat. Grilled Chicken Wrap. Perfect. Sam placed one of those onto her plate with a very small pleased smile. Only to have the smile instantly fade when Jer opened his mouth again. He should've just stopped at her being annoying and wanting skittles...he didn't have to continue. So that's why he had come. For Aurora. "Of course you did. You've been chasing after her all term..." this was said simply and with a slight shrug. "Why aren't you with her then?" |
FOOD!! Naturally the Gryffindor Ace would gravitate towards the BEST part of the ship, those blue-green peepers so happy he's almost misty eyed. Yes pretty girls are pretty but have they laid eyes on this spread? Yeah his point exactly. And that roast pork is calling his naaaammmee.... |
SPOILER!!: *eyebrows* After surviving the dreaded staircase twice (which was an amazing accomplishment for Olivia), she made her way to the saloon to glance around at the food options. She wasn't super hungry as she had eaten a big lunch earlier that day but as soon as she walked in this room, she could smell the wonderful food. Ooh. She couldn't resist taking a small plate just to try things, right? Plus the desserts looked goooood. Olivia felt completely out of her comfort place and yet she enjoyed it. Her eyes landed on a very cute boy. Wait. He looked so familiar... she could have sworn.. Her blue eyes wideneded. That was Ace! She felt butterflies in her stomach when she saw him. Merlin. He did clean up very, very nicely. Normally she would have called out to him but this was a very fancy place and she didn't want to intrude on other people's conversations by calling out to him across the saloon. Instead, Olivia simply grinned and made her way over to her mate. One foot in front of the other. Don't trip. One foot, then the other. Good, goood.... "Come here often?" she asked with a happy, teasing smile tugging at her lips. |
Duncan; Valerie. Laptop was against quoting for some reason. Melanie took one bite of her food before opening her purse. A plate could fit in there, she thought. “Have you been practicing your Legilimens, then?” she asked, not looking up from her purse to her brother. It was a joke. Neither of them were gifted in that regard. She smiled and pulled out that white bag with the orange sides that Duncan would know so well. “I got these for you. I know you’ve been missing them.” She pushed the Dunkin Donuts bag towards him. “Go on, take a peek. See if she got your favorite.” She hadn’t checked yet, but she was sure their friend from overseas knew their favorite donuts. Was he just thrilled? Melanie had been looking forward to the look on his priceless face ever since she had seen the bag. “I hope they’re charmed to stay fresh.” What a waste if not. “I do have another very important surprise - “ and before she could continue, before Melanie could tell Duncan the good news, they had an intruder. Melanie quirked an eyebrow in her direction. “Valerie,” she said simply. She straightened up in her chair. “Do about what, Valerie?” she asked simply, but she didn’t let her eyes move from her student’s. She knew exactly what Valerie referred to; the challenge. She was angry about the challenge. Melanie expected no less. There had been reasons for hers and Duncan’s silence, though, but Valerie didn’t need to know that. “Are you angry?” She asked and slid her chair back so she could stand and face Valerie. |
To reiterate, Lachlan was not a sore loser. He was...mostly relieved to be eliminated. However, there was a golden opportunity here, and who was he to deny himself the entertainment that would surely ensue? Who would suspect a thing with so many adults mulling about? Nodding politely at a few party-goers as he made his way onto the ship, Lachlan dug his hands down deeply into his pants pockets, double checking to see if he had it with him. As he neared the table spread out with the various food times, he slowly removed the large potions phial. It was still sealed tightly, filled with a deceptively clear liquid. Veritaserum. Casually removing the wax seal, he grinned to himself. This wasn't for spite. He'd gotten to know a few of the Hogwarts natives and thought they were good people, but this was what he did for fun. A long standing prank, if you would. So, carefully reaching out a hand, as if to begin preparing himself a plate, Lachlan stealthily began sprinkling the contents into every bit of food within reach. In such a way that NO ONE saw what had been done. And he continued this as he traveled up and down the long table. Nothing edible had gone unaffected. Practically impish, Lach snagged the eggnog he'd set aside for himself. Taking a sip, he grinned at his unsuspecting targets. Go ahead, then. Eat, drink, and be very, very honest. |
we see you as well Lachlan Quote:
She caught Lachlan's movements out of the corner of her eye, but any curiosity ceased there. She was far too concerned with what her trusted professors (one at least) had to say on the subject. |
for anyone! Formal really wasn't Zinnia's thing..... It was really just a code word for things that were stuffy and boring and uncomfortable, and she wasn't a fan. But she had actually worn a dress at least, so that counted for something, right? It wasn't even half as fancy as what most others seemed to be wearing, but at least she hadn't opted for sweatpants, and she'd even cleaned up and didn't have a speck of paint on her. She'd settled for just tying her hair up though since she'd done it all last minute...which also meant she hadn't eaten in awhile. So quick bite to eat and then head up to the deck to admire the view? Sounded like a good plan. The fresh fruit and the salad with avocado and sweet potatoes immediately drew her in, so those were the ones that went on her plate. She then briefly noticed Lachlan there by the table as well and offered a smile, oblivious, before moving on to find a table..... Where did she want to sit? Ohh....maybe she could take her food out onto the deck? Surely she could? That would be a lovely idea... |

That said food would need to be digested afterwards and all that was unthinkable. She HAD no idea why she was so nervous. It was silly. Evan was a friend and he was admittedly cute and this meant nothing other than making sure the other wasn't alone at an event that had mentioned the word 'date.' And the fact that this was her first date to speak of shouldn't have meant a thing. Except it did and her stomach was paying the consequences. It mattered enough for her to arrange her head into a milkmaid braid, anyway. It had taken forever, too. She supposed compliments were expected when you were on a date, even with a friend, but she wished they could be spared even if it WAS true. She did look LOVELY. Enough that she'd harassed Harley into taking pictures before she'd left the beetle. "Thanks." Manuela almost squeaked. Almost. "You look really nice, too." Also true. Suits and boys who knew how to wear them were something else. She poured herself something that both looked and smelled fruity and took a sip. Over the rim of her glass, she attempted to be casual about her staring. "What are you eating? Some of this actually looks good!" |
open for anyone. Layla was hungry. Probably a little too hungry with the way she rushed to the dining saloon in her ruffled dress and heels. And thirsty. She had hung out with Lucy for a bit on the deck before exploring what they could around the ship. While Luce went to find some friends, Layla walked up to the table and scanned it up and down. She had no idea what she was craving at the moment. Some sweet? Savory? Fishy? Anyway, the dark haired girl went for the sushi and stacked her plate. A little more than she had expected. Growing girl's gotta eat. Moving down the table, she looked through the drinks. She was honestly thankful there wasn't any pumpkin juice. No need to repeat that one morning. But then she saw mocktails. YUP. THOSE WERE THE DRINKS FOR HER. Layla just wanted something cold, sugary and right away. Not to mention the mocktail watermelon drink was calling her name. Taking one, the girl then carefully walked to an empty seat and sat down with her food. Sipping her drink a bit first, it didn't take long for the fifth year to dig in. |
:) Veritaserum cupcakes for all of you :) Quote:

Her trusty whisk looked very shiny, too, and to avoid giving ideas to any naughty studentsies, Tinka had reduced it size for the NIGHT and tied it around her neck with a string. Like a collar! It was all very fancy. She went around bowing very low to the studentsies and the staffs people and some of the mothers and fathers that had organized the GALA. When she saw some students who were empty handed (or maybe they weren't, it didn't really matter) Tinka widened her purple eyes and snapped her fingers. Cupcakes from the tables lifted immediately, and Tinka went around with a wide smile distributing them to the studentsies. They didn't LOOK very familiar but Hogwarts was FULL of studentsies and unless they were talking in their foreign accents, Tinka could not tell if they were Ilvermonies studentsies or Hogwarts ones. But it didn't matter! Lachlan's landed on his head, Manuela and on her shoulder, Zinnia's on her shoulder, too and Layla's right next to the sushi. "Cupcakes, cupcakes, cupcakes!" Sing sang the house elf, shimming on the spot before heading over to continue her food distribution elsewhere. She wiggled her fingers at them all as she walked backwards and out of the dining saloon, "Studentsies! Tinka needs you to eats and enjoy plenty! No starving!" |
Melbourne couldn’t help but raise her hand and wiggle her gingers in a greeting to the Horned Serpent girl she had met not by the lake just a couple of weeks ago. Seriously, Layla was like perfect and her dress was perfeeeeection. Seriously, how could someone not give her a welcoming wave and a kind hello. Of course the Gryffindor girl wasn’t just going to way hello to her she had also sent Olivia Holden a beamy smile and her somehow newly adopted finger wiggle wave. Tenacius, on the other hand got a little eyebrow wiggle and a glance at Olivia as if Mel was trying to hint that it was obvious the girl had just used a pickup line on him…even if Mel hadn’t heard it the teasing smile was enough for Mel to well approve of. Besides, she was a roommate and a friend. |
Whit/Rosalyn and anybody else who wants to play :) Normally Gaston would've preferred to skip the festivities in favor of a quiet evening alone - large crowds of people always put him on edge! He was always awkward, but being around this many people had him even more worried about committing some social faux pas - but this was a school function, after all, which meant his presence was required. Anxieties aside, he was in much better spirits than he'd been in the past several months. The upcoming holiday and the present company had brightened his mood considerably! He glanced at Rosalyn with a smile as they walked into the dining saloon, but he didn't let his eyes linger on her for too long lest they betray too much emotion. His smiled quickly faded as he saw the candles along the walls. To anyone else the candlelight might've been romantic, but to the man with an overwhelming fear of fire (made even worse since the accident in his class) it was a disaster waiting to happen! His hand automatically went for his wand, and he whispered to his date, "Certainly they've charmed everything to be fire resistant, right?" Gaston wasn't really sure what he wanted to eat or, more accurately, if he wanted to eat. The events of the past few months had drastically affected his appetite, but he didn't want to worry Rosalyn. So he opted for a chicken wrap (one of the lighter options he saw) and a glass of tea punch. As he made his way to one of the empty tables, he said hello to the Ilvermorny students he passed (Jeremy, Samara, Evan, Manuela, Lachlan, and Zinnia). And was it just him or did that Ilvermorny boy (Lachlan) look a little too happy? The two Ilvermonry professors (Melanie and Duncan) and the girl with them (Valerie) got a nod in acknowledgement, though he didn't want to interrupt their conversation by saying hello out loud. Then he saw some of his Gryffindors (Ace and Olivia) and waved to them. "Hello, Mr. Salander, Miss Holden!" he said. "How's your evening going so far?" Then another familiar face caught his attention. "Good evening ladies," he said, this time addressing Miss Sorin-Ward and her friend (Layla). "I hope you're enjoying yourselves." Gaston eventually made his way to an empty table in the middle of the room, as far away from the candles as he could get. He pulled a chair out for Rosalyn before taking a seat himself and unfolding his napkin in his lap. Then he saw Tinka. those cupcakes she was handing out looked delicious! "Hello, Tinka," he said, waving to her. "Could we please have a couple of those?" But it looked like she was leaving now. Oh well, never mind. Maybe she'd come back later... |
SPOILER!!: Sam! <3 "You did? How did I not know of this? Surely you'll be willing to share with your little brother?'' Jer didn't like Skittles as much as Sam but they usually shared almost everything with each other. He put his face closer to hers and pretended to examine it. "Hmm. You can think so but there are tiny zits here, here, here and here.'' With each 'here', he poked someplace random on her cheek. No brushing away this boy, Sam! "Whatever you say, sister. It'll have to do for tonight because NO HOT DOGS.'' Jer was rather annoyed. He wanted his precious dogs! He started eating right there at the table, taking a generous bite. As rude as Jer could be, he did have good manners thanks to Alaric and Jenna Dawson, his parents. He made sure to chew with his mouth close, swallow and then resume the talk with his sister. The guy grinned. "She's okay. I mean I don't know her that well but all I wanna do is snog her as these Brits say.'' Jer smirked. He got the feeling that Aurora didn't want anything steady anyway so just wanting to kiss her settled fine with him. "I'm waiting for the right moment to ditch you.'' Hearing the 'hello' from that Hogwarts Professor (Gaston), Jer shot him a look of disgust. One: he was upset that the Brits had no hot dogs and two: this was the man that he had seen always walking around as though he were sad and looking for attention. |

Oops. "You going to get one of those cupcakes??" They did look good and and he was going to have to get a drink |

Ugh. Boys. She rolled her eyes grabbing him by the elbow, firmly but carefully so they wouldn't drop their food. "At least go sit down, Jer. Seriously you're not starving." Manners. Their parents would be telling him the same thing right about now if they were here. And as if to make matters worse the twin went and said all that. Didn't he respect that poor girl at all? Sure they had their bet happening but matters of feelings were there too, at least in her opinion. "You're such a guy. Not everything is about snogging you weirdo." Cue the eye roll. "Be my guest." She didn't need to be with him all night. She had someone she needed to find as well. Someone saying 'hello' caught her attention and she smiled a bit in return. This was better then her brothers action that made her elbow him. "Respect." she muttered under her breath at him. |

He grinned excitedly as she complimented his suit and rubbed the back of his neck. "Thank you." His mother said that a man looked 100% more handsome if they suited up, and that woman was right. (Although in fact, his mother was ALWAYS right.) "They serve Philly cheesesteak here, and also sriracha chicken burger! " Okay, the plan of being cool was kind of ruined because when it comes to food, Evan could not hide himself of how he's excited about it. I'm thinking to get both but..." Decision, decision. This was difficult for him because 1) Sriracha is life, period. and 2) Philly cheesesteak comes from Philadelphia, his home, and it's his favorite sandwich. Oh well... "I'm going to have Philly cheesesteak then." Did they have extra sriracha to add on his sandwich, by the way? It would be PERFECT. Evan noticed a house elf offering cupcakes. Those looked great but he's not really into sweets for now. Maybe he's going to pass it. "What do you want to have?" He asked. |
Quote:
Just as he was loading up the second plate with that delectable rice dish, he heard the tease. Turning his head for a moment-- and forgot about his food-- before breaking out into his own grin "Heyyy!..." didnt he say something about beauty and the beholder? Well lo and behold is what he's doing now. It was then that he glanced at the large plates he's adeptly balancing on his arm "Oh this? Yeah just a sampling...." |
