| | | Seventh Floor Corridor
The corridor just off the Grand Staircase leads to the Room of Requirement (should you know where it is); the Divination Tower; the Astronomy tower; the Gryffindor Common Room; and the Ravenclaw Common Room.
It has large windows that offer sweeping views of the Quad outside. If you'll look close enough at one of the windowsills, you'll note a little 80-year-old etching that says RIP FW.

So yeah... her head was spinning a bit from the news she had just received. HER. Nymphadora Kennedy Umbridge was chosen as WORTHY by a book of Merlin's? But how? What was the criteria? Was it based on house stuff? Let's face it, the hat didn't even hesitate to place her in Gryffindor, bro. So if it was that sort of thing she could maybe see it. But surely there were others more deserving? But well... there was no going back now, right? She was in it to win it, hopefully.
The weight of what had just happened seemed to be sitting on her shoulders as she made her way past her common room entrance... and stopped almost to the Ravenclaw one. Yep. Time to sit.
Dora paused to kick her shoes off and pull out her wand before she slid down the wall and sat cross legged in the corridor. With a quick wave of her wand she cast the Papilio spell nonverbally. Yeah. Butterflies. She had them in her stomach so she may as well watch some fly around her head, right?

Climbing up the staircase to get back to the common room, Mason had left the Great Hall after he had found the appropriate time to leave.
As he reached the seventh floor, he was still thinking about the fact that he was chosen to be one of the champions. To be honesr, he had expected that Rooney would be the one tonget chosen. He was far better than him and it made Mason wonder how the book choose its champions?
He scratched his head as he turned the corner, still thinking when he noticed butterflies flying around a bit further down the corridor. Finding Dora near the Ravenclaw common room (had she been that shocked to get chosen that she forgot which way her common room was?) "What's up with the Butterflies?" he asked as he leaned against the wall as well before sliding down next to the Gryffindor. "So.....champions huh?" he said slowly "this is weird"

Dora had been contemplating going to find Casper and/or Sam, but after the pasted the Fat Lady she realized they were likely still at the feast. Hence her sitting in the corridor like a weirdo. And like... she kind of needed a place to sit quietly and think before the masses started to invade the school. Snort.
The blonde girl nudged a few of her butterflies to make them fly around more before she heard Mason and felt him slide down beside her. "They calm me, " she said quietly. Or they used to anyway. Didn't seem to be doing the trick right now.
"Looks that way. Are you nervous or scared? " she was nervous, but not exactly scared. She had no idea what they would be doing, but it wasn't too huge a deal she guessed. This wasn't the Triwzard tournament after all. Right? No dragons and potential death. Not that she was particularly afraid she'd die... "I keep waiting for someone to tell me it was a misunderstanding. Like the runes were interpreted incorrectly, " she said with a chuckle.

Mason continued to look at the butterflies that Dora had conjured and he had to admit, they were very well done. He nodded his head, though not understanding why they would calm her because the fluttering around would make him annoyed but who was he to judge? "I'm more curious" he said because the longer he thought the more he realised that he wasn't scared or nervous, just curious what the tasks will be. "I just hope there won't be a dance, i mean, i can dance but..." he had a mental image of having to dance with Cassandra and he frowned before he was brought back to the corridor when he heard Dora's chuckle. "Well, i saw your name up there as well" he said. "Not Charlotte's like you had thought" He uncrossed his legs and stretched them out in front of him and leaned his head against the wall. "The book of Merlin though, can you believe that kind of book spelled out our names?" He wondered where the Headmistress kept that book because he wanted it. Probably safely and secured in her office so stealing it was out of option. AHEM not that he had been thinking about that.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Irene Avery Fifth Year | open post!
Irene was done with sitting around. She needed to get up and get MOVING. There was a WHOLE castle to explore and she wasn't going to waste anymore time just sitting. With a bright pink backpack (the same colour as this very font), she climbed all the stairs to make it up to the highest floor that she possibly could in the castle (or so she thought at this moment). Glancing around her, she checked to make sure that she was enitrely alone before grinning madly and then skipping down the entire corridor. She stopped when she got by the windowsill and saw the incredible view of the grounds.
"WOAH." Irene could get used to living in a castle. This was awesome!

They calmed her because she could focus on them and not whatever it was bothering her. Which was lovely. Truly. But right this moment she focused on Mason instead. " I'll dance with you. If there is a dance and all, " she said with a nod. I mean... AFTER she danced with her boyfriend, of course. But still.
Head shaking was happening. She COULD NOT believe that the Book of Merlin had selected her. Not even a little bit. " I still want to know the parameters. Why us? I mean of course you. You're brilliant. But how did it choose me? "
And she leaned her head on his shoulder without asking because she needed that comfort... but she found herself jerking it back upright as another voice filled the corridor... Quote:

"WOAH." Irene could get used to living in a castle. This was awesome! The Gryffindor Prefect has just climbed out of the portrait hole for his scheduled rounds, giving the Fat Lady the usual cheeky smile which always made her giggle so. As he made his way down the corridor he heard a faint.... something. A few more steps forward and he peeked around the corner-- oh look its one of their guests. No wait not just an Ilvermorny guest, he knew this one. "Hey Irene!" the Curly Top greeted her as he leaned against the wall next to the window, peeking at the scenery. Seen it a hundred times now, and never tired of it "Impressive huh?" |

Irene nearly jumped a couple steps back when she heard someone chide her. She hadn't even noticed that the corridor had been so crowded. Covering her mouth with her hand and feeling rather embarrassed, she looked sheepishly at the other girl. "Whoops. Sorry!" This girl wasn't a Prefect right? And she wouldn't tell Professor Williams either, right? HOLD THE PHONE. This girl looked familiar! It was totally one of the Hogwarts competitors in the IMPS. "Oh! You're one of the Hogwarts champions, aren't you? I'm Irene Avery! Nice to meet you!" She beamed.
Then she heard someone calling out to her. Oh hey! It was Tenacius Salander. "Tenacius! Hey! What's up?" she asked with a wide grin and watched as he walked over to lean against the wall next to the window. Yeah. She nodded. It was totally impressive. "It's breathtaking. I think if I ever lived here I could never get used to waking up in a place with so much history. I mean... the famous Golden Trio went here of course so did Neville Longbottom... Alice Fischer... TDK... and so many more could have stood right here in this place. I don't think I'll ever get over that fact."

| A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself. Dora called him brilliant.
It hadn't been the first time that someone had called him brilliant but Mason wasn't used to it. Of course, a small grin had appeared on his face the moment she said it but he shook his head to stay modest. "You're better in a lot of things than i am" he said. Why couldn't she see the reason why the Book of Merlin had chosen her? If he was brilliant, she was far better and he secretly wished he wasn't to duel this girl at some point. It was difficult to explain why someone deserved something when they didn't even know why themselves so the Ravenclaw leaned his head against the wall behind him and......froze when Dora placed her head on his shoulder.
He fidgeted uncomfortably with his sleeve and thought about anything BUT her head on his shoulder. She didn't hear his heart beating right? It wasn't that he was in love but...close contact made him uncomfortable and he usually wanted some space between him and someone else.
Slowly raising a finger, Mason wanted to poke the side of Dora's head to push her away when she suddenly jerked back upright. Getting startled but pretended he hadn't, the seventh year looked over to the girl that Dora chided and sighed. Ilvermorny , of course. Was no place safe? But eventhough he wasn't very fond of the visitors as well, he didn't scold others for simply being amazed. Or whatever it was the girl (Irene) had woah'd about."Please don't start a conflict" he whispered to Dora. They were competitors in the IMPS, he didn't want her to be disqualified for rude behaviour towards the guests.
Luckily, the Gryffindor Prefect chose that time to walk around the corner and leaned against the wall where Irene was standing. Good, distraction.

Dora only called him brilliant because he was. Duh. And he would know it once this tournament was over. Yep indeed. "I wouldn't go that far, Mason. I'm not better at much," only defensive magic, really. And she was going to teach him so he would get better at that, too.
And then the American... Oh. Well Dora wasn't trying to be RUDE, but it was annoying that they came into her school and were loud all the time. Sheesh! Giving Mason a quick glance, just so she could roll her eyes at him, she looked back at the girl and gave a small smile. "Dora Umbridge representing Gryffindor. And this is Mason he's the male Ravenclaw champion." She would wish the other girl luck, but she hoped she lost and really Dora didn't lie so... she wouldn't say that. And for the record: One didn't have to be a prefect to be bothered by loud talking in a corridor.
Or to chide people.
And speaking of Prefects, hers was thoroughly ignored.
"How are you all finding your stay here at Hogwarts?" SEE MASON, SHE WAS NOT GOING TO START A CONFLICT.
