Madame Puddifoot's Tea Shop http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...psz44tawyq.png Madame Puddifoot's is laid out in a typical English tea room fashion. Lace doilies cover each table on top of the flower patterned table cloths. In the middle of each is a small container with a tea light candle, ready to be lit for those on a romantic retreat. The windows are half covered by fancy net curtains, leaving just enough room at the top to see over and down Hogsmeade's High Street. Little flower and heart covered cushions are on each seat awaiting your arrival. |
Hogsmeade. He had heard loads about it, idle chitter chatter around the dinner table that he has mostly tuned out while using his gravy to paint wild stallions trotting across his plate, but a few things had stuck in his mind. Something about butterbeer was mentioned and coupons, but those were details he could not recall at the moment as he stepped into a disgustingly frilly tea shop. Karlin would probably like it here. Which should have been more than enough of an indication that he ought to just leave. But the Chelsea buns on the menu made him want to stay. Finding himself a seat away from the window so no one would see him, Jaecar took a seat in the back corner with his bun and spot of tea. It was quiet at least. Quiet enough that he could do a bit of reading perhaps. Pulling out his copy of Catcher in the Rye, he continued where he left off - almost done - and then once he had he could head back to the castle and write home that yes, he had in fact attempted to partake in a Hogsmeade weekend as part of this whole social integration hullabaloo the family kept going on about. |
Quote:
Having eaten shortly before heading down to the village, Jessa simply ordered herself a cup of chamomile tea and turned to get herself a tabl-- "Jaecar!" She waved to the boy waaaay over there, but remained standing where she was for a few seconds more. She remembered the last conversation they had and didn't want him thinking she was only saying hi to him because she still saw him as a test subject. At the same time, NOT sitting with him would give him the impression that now that he wasn't her test subject, she was no longer inclined to pay him any attention--which was hardly the case. But they were friends. That was pretty much her entire argument. They were friends and friends hung out sooooooo this was perfectly acceptable? "I thought you'd have stayed up in the castle and made use of how much emptier it is today." Y'know, as opposed to following the crowd to the now crowded streets of Hogsmeade where he DEFINITELY wouldn't be able to escape them. Rather than take the seat opposite him, Jessa took the one right next to him, setting her cup by his and leaning over to have a look at his book. "Oh, you're almost done!" |
And so it began. The students from Hogwarts always filled up her shop this time of year. A boy sat in the back corner with a book and was soon joined by a young girl. Sapphira glanced their way a few times as she cleaned off a table nearby. This was the quiet before the storm and she was determined to take advantage of the peace and quiet for as long as she could. She would soon leave the two kids alone again, only coming out every once in a while to tidy up or take anyone's order. Fortunately, she heard the bell on the counter all the way to the back room, where she would be retreating for now. |

Of course. Of COURSE Jessa Cambridge had the nose of a bloodhound when it came to his whereabouts. Perhaps he had underestimated her lack of feminine wiles in assuming this was not the sort of scene the Ravenclaw would find herself in. Then again her infuriating curiosity would make this the very sort of place that she would go visit just because it was not somewhere typically on her radar. Basically he needed to surrender to the notion that there was just no winning with it came to interactions with Jessa Cambridge. Only Jaecar was not exactly the giving up sort. Maybe if he just kept his nose in his book she would go awa----- nope. Of course not. What he would give to be a demiguise sometimes... "Eno would have tattled on me like the snitch he is," he muttered under his breath while flipping a page. If nothing else than to make his life more miserable. Speaking of more miserable...was there something wrong with the seat across the table from him? Or better yet, the one at that table all the way at the other end of the place? "....yeah." He quickly took a large bite from his Chelsea roll so he had the excuse of chewing instead of speaking. |
SPOILER!!: Future Husband OKAY? "Eno's not a snitch." It wasn't exactly a correction of his statement--as they'd grown together and she only knew him from the times they hung out at school--but rather one of subtle disbelief. "I'm sure if you asked him not to tell, he'd have been willing not to. He's a Hufflepuff, you don't get a more negotiable person than that." They were the loyal ones. Eno was likely loyal to his brother or could be made tha......people weren't science experiments and she would drop this line of thought before it went too far. Ahem. Moving on. Rather than try to figure ways of modifying Eno's behaviour, Jessa continued looking at the book. He didn't seem to mind, because surely he'd have said something by now. Jaecar wasn't shy....reserved sure but not shy. At the same time, there wasn't any particular...enthusiasm whenever she was around. He was an odd one, wasn't he? Didn't talk much--but neither did her dad. Difference was, there was active interest when she spoke with her dad, but something near reluctance with him. Curiou--No. No, she wasn't analyzing him. He didn't like it and she would have to respect that. Rather than analyze, she would do what normal people did. They would openly communicate. "Do you like me?" |
Saff <3 This was like, SUPER corny but Kane didn't care. He'd picked this spot because it was supposedly all cute and romantic, and this was pretty much the most "romantic" date spot he could find while at school. Aside from the Room of Requirement, but then he'd have to smuggle food from the kitchens and it was a whole THING...this was easier. He was not NEARLY as nervous as he had been the first time he'd met Saffron for a "date". Were they dating? Probably not, because he was SURE she'd probably worked her charms on some of the Ilvermorny boys. He was trying suuuuper hard not to think about that, though. They were still just friends, as far as KANE was aware at least. Friends who snogged occasionally. That was cool and totally normal right? He drummed his fingers on the table as he looked around, waiting for her to arrive. He also kept rolling his sleeves up - he'd gone through a slight growth spurt lately which was making it kind of hard to wear any long sleeve shirts because his arms were too long for them now. It was weird. |
Quote:
Normally it was Kane who was nervous around her, but today she was the nervous one. He wouldn't notice it though, right? Lilah had said that she didn't LOOK nervous so it clearly wasn't too noticeable. Or was Lilah doing that nice sister thing again? Saff bet that Kane had noticed her little sister around the common room. They were in the same year. And Lilah wasn't ugly....kinda. She did look a bit like a wart covered troll. Kane probably thought she was pretty. Ew. Still no competition for this Stemp, but it was still something that was going to sit in her mind as she sat across from him. Which was why she didn't sit across from him initially. She leaned over his shoulder, giving his cheek a kiss, her hair a flip and him a smile. "Hiiiiiiii Kaney!" |
Quote:
"Heyyyy Saffy," he greeted her back with a grin. She wasn't sitting down right away, which was weird...OH! Should he pull out the chair for her?! That was a gentlemanly thing right? He hopped up quickly and scurried over, tripping just a bit in his haste, before grabbing the chair and pulling it out for her. He grinned again and gestured toward it, inviting her to sit. |
SPOILER!!: future Mrs. Upstead XD Her response earned her nothing more than an incredulous look as he closed his book. He may as well, she would just ask him questions about where he was and what he thought about this scene and that. Probably. Again, he had resolved that there would never ever be any winning when it came to Jessa Cambridge. "He isn't your brother," he offered simply as a retort. Which meant that she did not know dragon dung from chocolate on the subject. And then he was staring at her blankly when she asked that. "I find you annoying." That was satisfactory enough a response, no? |
Quote:
For nooooooowwwww JAECAR. Look, he'd even put his book down so they could have a proper conversation AND he still hasn't asked her to move from her spot next to him. All good signs in her book. Jessa sat a little straighter, interested in the response for obvious reasons. The blank look should have been warning enough but the expectant look only faded to something more closely resembling hurt or disappointment at his words. "...........Oh." There were many answers she'd have preferred. Loud. Persistent. Even usually popping up. Not annoying. Annoying was what Lexa used to think of her back when she never ever wanted to be around her. Kalie was the same and that didn't go terribly well either. Blue eyes sank to the wooden structure of the table as the girl grew unnaturally quiet. By the logic of experience, if he thought she was annoying, he must have harboured most if not all of the same thoughts. It'd been months of trying and nothing to show for it. He probably didn't even like her as a person and she'd been imposing herself on him so much. "....Sorry." |

"It's cute in here. Pink!" |
It had been ages since she had set foot in Hogsmeade, sure, the now twenty three year old woman had set foot in the town. It had been longer, forever, since she had even set foot into Madame Puddifoots but that was where she had asked him to meet her. He was always there in the back of her mind like a whispered thought, the desire to see him again had risen up once more and this time she had reached out. Why hadn’t she reached out earlier? Right it was because of her, she still didn’t want her to get the wrong impression but now that they were no longer a thing it didn’t matter. It wasn’t as if it had ever matter then either, but still, back then she had to deal with the constant pained expressions from not only her but her friends. |
Quote:
"Well, that's what gentlemen do. And don't worry, they have no competition," he told her, his cheeks heating up as he spoke. Geez, this was sooooo corny. But she had started it! "They're all gonna be soooo jealous," he added with a wink. |
Quote:
The wink stirred her fluttery heart and the Hufflepuff girl grinned. "Jealous of me or jealous of you?" Neither would surprise her, but she assumed he meant that people would be jealous of HIM for being seen with her. Duhhhhh. "I told ALL my dorm mates that we were going on a second date. No boy ever took me on a second one." Let alone a first. |
Valentine's Day, it was Valentine's Day and Benton was very prepared. He had picked up Cassie in the common room and they walked hand and hand together to Puddifoots. He knew it would be busy being Valentine's Day so he had already owled to reserve a table. "You look nice today." Walking to the table he pulled out her chair. "Happy Valentine's sweetie." He leaned and kissed her before taking his own seat. Looking at the menu he tried to decide what he wanted. "This is our third Valentine's Day." He hadn't forgotten. "What do you want to eat?" They would order than he'd give her the gifts. |
Jesse / Mel It was Valentine's Day and Kirk was here a bit earlier waiting on his girlfriend. Ever since that ball, things had been progressing ever so naturally between him and Mel. Since Hogsmeade weekend was on them again, what a perfect opportunity to celebrate at this infamous shop. The decorations got him curious before he took a table for two at a nice spot by the window. While waiting he took the menu to examine. |
Joel! / Kirk Melbourne brushed her hand over her skirt nervously as she tried to brush the slight bit of Jarvey fur off of her skirt. No, she didn’t need to be nervous but she was. Melbourne was really nervous as she put her hand to the door and opened it. Not only was this the first time she had ever gone to Madame Puddifoots but it was the first time that she had a date with Kirk…well, not really the ball was a date but still he wasn’t just her friend that she suspected might had liked her – he was her boyfriend. |
Wifey! <3 Was he nervous? Just a tad but Oliver McDean was a lot more confident in himself since entering this relationship with Esme. He held her hand as they entered the warm and rather girly decorated shop. "It's been a while since I've been in here,'' he told his girlfriend. "Years, actually. Since I was at Hogwarts.'' No, he hadn't been here on a date. It had been more out of curiosity that he had checked the shop out. "There's a vacant table.'' Olly lead the way over, dropping Esme's hand only to pull out the chair for her. He was forever her gentleman. |
SPOILER!!: Benton! <3 Cassandra Lynn Carter had spent the better part of the morning getting herself ready. Truth be told that this was NOT her first Valentine's Day with Benton but that didn't at all mean she wouldn't dress the part. The blonde always had a flare for fashion and enjoyed wearing pinks and reds whenever possible, which showed in today's clothing choice. She had even gotten a flower crown made by a fellow Hufflepuff for the occasion. Having a boyfriend in the same house as herself made it very easy for the two of them to meet up and make their way to Hogsmeade hand in hand. Entering Madame Puddifoot's Tea Shop, Cass looked around taking note of how crowded it was getting. It was a smart choice that Ben already got them a table in advance. "Thank you, you look handsome too." Smiling she slid into her seat across from him. "Happy Valentine's Day," she replied in return kissing him back gently before completely settling down into her seat and picking up a menu. A smile formed on her lips and she nodded her head. "I know, it's sorta of a little surreal, isn't it?" At the age of just fourteen and a half she was already celebrating Valentine's Day with the same boy for the third time in a row. A great accomplishment if she thought so. Benton's question about food pulled her back from her thoughts and she had to look at the menu once more. "I'm not really sure...what do you plan on having?" If they ordered different things then they could share. |
The moment she stepped into the tea shop she regretted it. It was not just the grandmotherly decor that stirred her insides uncomfortably but rather the associations to be made about her and her choice companion. Especially in relation to the others paired off at the various tables and all those heart pillows strung about unnecessarily. Valerie had selected this location based on a suggestion of another Hogwarts student. A "when in Rome" sort of situation since they had come all this way to experience British wizarding culture and living in that awful Beetle was inconveniently hindering that whole experience. But now she was regretting not inquiring further about why this particular shop was recommended. Of course she had paid the particular day no heed (why would she?) but suddenly all the annoyingly cute lace doilies lining the tables were the least of her concerns. "Actually," she said as coolly as possible while turning around with every intention of leaving. "Perhaps we should go to the Three Broomsticks instead." She had been there last visit (hence her desire to seek somewhere new this time) and it had not felt as problematic as here. |
Quote:
"Ooh, did you take a lucky girl here?" she asked with a smile. "I haven't been here in a while either. I like the desserts though. And the tea, obviously." She hadn't tried the coffee before so she had no idea what it was like. Well, maybe she would at some point, though she had no idea how often she would come here after graduation. Definitely to see Rachel and Azura along with her other best friends since they would still be at school. She would really miss them. That thought made her sad and she didn't want to dwell on it. Today was a happy day because she was seeing her boyfriend. Her wonderful Olly. "Thank you," she said with a smile as he pulled out a seat for her. What a gentleman he was! Taking a seat, she waited for him to join her. |
Quote:
Merlin she as pretty, did he tell her that already? He knew he told her that lots, but today she really worked hard and he wanted to make sure she knew he noticed. "I like your hair like that." Her hair was fun, he liked to put his fingers through it and it always smelled so good when she rested her head on his shoulder. He hoped maybe when they went back to the castle, maybe they could do that cuddling stuff. That would be good for Valentine's Day, right? Looking back at the menu he smiled at her words, "Yes it is. Honestly, I'm pretty sure no one thought it would last this long." He really hadn't either if he was honest, but that wasn't something he needed to say out loud. He was glad it had gone this long, he loved her and didn't want to have it end. He knew that he looked at pretty girls once and a while, but as long as he didn't try to kiss them or anything "I think I'll get Pork Pie, Bacon Buttie, and a cheesecake." Yeah that sounded good and probably not enough, but that was okay he could hit up the kitchen later. Hufflepuffs for the kitchen advantage! |
Quote:
"Oh, no. We're staying," he said, a smile tugging at his lips (even though he desperately tried to appear aloof and casual. Placing a hand on her back, he turned her around and nudged her further and further into the shop. "If we leave now, it'll be like quitting. We are not quitters." Not that that logic should apply to this sort of situation, but Jesús wanted to get under Valerie's skin a little. Just for fun (and also because the holiday called for it.) "Besides, I'm far too invested in our date now to just go." Jesús decided that a table in the back would work just fine, so he removed the hand that was on her back and used it to grab her hand and guided her over to the table. He supposed that, since they were in cutesy sort of shop, he should pull her chair out of her. So he did. Real gentleman-like. His abuelita would be proud. |
Quote:
It took every ounce of her resolve to not roll her eyes or otherwise show any sort of outward distress as his hand moved to her back and somehow took away her obvious escape route out of this frilly establishment. Although there was a soft moan that escaped her lips "If you try to hold my hand you will find it transfigured beyond recognition or reversal," she warned him (and he knew what she was capable of with that branch of magic) as her grey eyes flickered around the shop and towards all the other lovey dovey couple. Hell, she was certain that Brenton and that Skylar girl would come waltzing through these doors soon enough and cause herself to revisit her breakfast involuntarily. That was a dirty card to play, Jesus. Appealing to her competitive nature and stubborn resolve like that. Another annoying habit, knowing some of the right words to say to her. Those same words being the sort of push and reminder to keep her in this competition at all (along with some other reasons). Subtly trying to dig her combat boots into the floor as she walked, anything to impede their process towards the table, she immediately pulled her hand away from his and fired one final warning shot. "You just cannot help yourself, can you?" she jeered. "Stop calling this a date. It is an experience." And just to drive that point home she stepped around the chair he had pulled out and pulled out the one next to it for herself and slid into it. Although she did approve of the location. All the way in the back corner meant out of view of most and the most opportune space to make observations. The window seats would have been insufferable. |
