The Tapestry
|
Sir Nicholas wished to speak with Lady Helena. He felt as morose as a ghost could feel, knowing he and Lady Helena were, rather surprisingly, on the opposite end of a belief. He hovered in the air, arms crossed, with one hand curling his goatee. This tapestry. Yes, he remembered over two score ago when it was hung. |
Lady Helena had been in the library. Often during these troubling times, she found that the stimulating nature of books kept her in fairly good spirits but not even this could ease her mind. She kept thinking about Sir Nicholas and how much more ruffled he had been than she had ever seen him before. Sighing, she exited the library and came to an abrupt pause. She hardly expected to see him so soon after the events of the ghost meeting. What was he doing there? Did the tapestry intrigue him so? Whatever the reason, she highly doubted she could be the reason for his appearance here so her ladyship moved swiftly onwards. She was almost certain that, aside from the poltergeists and the Baron, she was the spirit he least wanted to see right now. |
A semitransparent movement caught Sir Nick's eye, and he gently swivelled his head. Gently as to prevent his head from toppling off his neck. "Milady, Milady!" He said, floating quickly towards her. "My dear Lady Helena, please... can we talk?" |
This was one of the times in which Lady Helena was wrong, it seemed. She couldn't have floated further than a few inches when Sir Nicholas's voice reached her ghostly ears. She hardly turned her head until he was right beside her. Talk? This was unusual. Sir Nicholas wanted to talk to her after the affairs. Shouldn't he be hating her as much as he hated having half an inch of skin attaching his head to his neck? "We may." |
Sir Nicholas floated closer towards her, gently reaching for her hands and taking them in his. "Milady, dear Helena." He pulled one up to kiss it. "I have been lamenting on this rift, and if I still had a beating heart, it would be hurting. Can you not understand my view? That all beings and spirits," he said with slight inflection on spirits, meaning himself and, perhaps, another ghostly lady, "have a right to legally and formally recognise the union between two people?" He spoke in a gentle voice. |
Sir Nicholas always had a charm about him so it was hardly surprising that, despite everything, Lady Helena found herself blushing at the cheeks. It was oddly gentlemanly of him and, had the situation been different, she would've found herself melting at the gesture. "I can, Sir Nicholas, but do you not understand mine?" she asked, "Shouldn't marriage be between two people who understand the sanctity of it? Between two people who are mature enough to take such a step?" That inflection hadn't gone amiss either. |
Sir Nicholas paused so that he could really show Lady Helena that he was trying to understand where she and the Baron were coming from. He really was trying. "How do we know that Peeves and Miffy don't understand the sanctity of it? Perhaps they know more than we are giving them credit for." He said 'we' because he refused to allow this rift to split the formerly four house ghosts from a 'we' to a 'you' and 'me'. |
Kitty had just finished reading in the library was walking own the fourth floor corridor, feeling exceptionally lazy today. It was Saturday and she didn't have any plans. Maybe later she would write to Penny or to her mom. Her walk down the corridor took her past the Tapestry, where she stopped to stare at it. The Tapestry didn't intrigue her as much as it used to (ever since Professor Ansley told her its backstory) but she still liked it and would sometimes take pictures of it or stop passing people to ask them if they knew its story. It was then that she decided she should have a picture of the wall behind the Tapestry for her photo album. That wall was not like any other wall, it was there to seal off a hidden passageway that used to hold the Book of Mysteria. The Goth girl ever so gently moved the Tapestry aside. Then she bent down and started snapping pictures, half of her covered by the draping. |

Ever the Gryffindor, she moved up closer and poked the protruding backside once... twice... "What are you up to?" she asked said backside which was... partially covered by the tapestry. And what was that clicking? This was sure to be ODD. And odd things were a favorite thing of Dora's. |
Quote:
Oh, it was just Dora. Kitty didn't know her very well but of course she knew of her as they attended classes together and occasionally bumped into each other in the hallway. "Hey Dora," she greeted her in a friendly enough turn, putting away her camera but still remaining in a bent down position. "What did you poke me for? I thought you were a teacher." She climbed out from behind the tapestry. "I was taking pictures of the secret entrance behind this tapestry," she explained. "It has a fascinating backstory. Did you know? |

Dora couldn't contain the giggles that escaped her when the Prefect squealed and jumped. The blonde was unfazed by the whole scene, though. She offered a lopsided smile and a shrug in immediate response. "I poked you because you were half hidden by the tapestry and bent over like that. Seemed logical at the moment." Didn't Ravenclaws poke things that piqued their interests? Maybe it was just a Gryffindor thing. Ohhh. Well that made sense now... She was taking pictures of a secret entrance. Cool. And while the younger girl DID happen to know a lot of history about their school... she was not going to be rude. "Nope! Why don't you tell me all about it! We could go get some tea if you want? Discuss it then?" she offered with a genuine smile. She was down for talking with the other girl for awhile. |
Quote:
Had Kitty just been invited to tea? Well that was nice. It reminded Kitty of another Gryffindor who loved tea: Olivia. "Sure Dora, I would love to have tea," said the prefect with a smile. "I'll follow you." She gestured for Dora to take the lead. |
Quote:
EXCELLENT! The blonde girl reached out and tugged on Kitty's sleeve as she started to walk toward the kitchens. "Awesome. You can tell me about the secret passage while we head that way, if you want." Offering a quick smile, she then directed her attention back to where she was going. |
Quote:
She allowed Dora to guide her to the kitchens. "Once the Tapestry was enchanted to stun anyone who came near to discovering its secret: that there was a secret passage behind it hiding the Book of Mysteria..." |

Huge difference. And like... having MANY family members who were active in MANY facets of the current Wizarding World she knew more than a little bit about the goings on and who was who... and who did WHAT. |

"Journalist is a more general term that can be used for reporters, editors, news anchors, publishers, columnists and opinion writers. It encompasses everything. It's like if I said an animagus and a wizard were two different things, it's true - but an animagus is also a wizard. While on the other hand, reporters are more specified. A reporters mission is in the direct gathering of information - and also in the communication to the public. Reporters definitely have cameras and they conduct lots of first person interviews. They don't editorialize though." She paused for breath. "Again, maybe it's not like this in the Wizarding World." |
Giggle. Giggle. Can you hear that? Where is it coming from?Giggle. The tapestry appears to be completely deserted, but is it...? |
Azura was making her way back up to the common room. The purple eyed girl had been on a visit to the healers wing.. There had been a minor incident involving some rotating stairs.. Thankfully though she was patched up and feeling well when she heard something.. A.. giggle? Fwoopers.. "Miffy? Is that you? " Az called as she stopped and looked around.. were they even back in the castle? And if so then why the creepy giggling? "Hello?" The fourteen year old called out as she slowly spun in place. |
:p Quote:
The half-Japanese stopped dead on his tracks when he heard a familiar voice calling out for...Miffy? Turning, Jace walked towards a baffled Azura and tugged on her sleeve. "Hello to you too, but I'm not Miffy." Jace gave her an amused grin and wondered why she was calling out on the poltergal. "Everything alright? Who...are you exactly talking to?" he asked taking a quick turn to see if he missed anyone. So far...it's just him and his best friend. |
Quote:
"Well no, you are not Miffy, you are much more pleasing to be around, not to mention you don't go around and creepily giggle. " She pointed out as she gave him a smile.. "Well, I was on my way back to the common room from seeing the Healer, and I waked past this.. " A small finger indicated the tapestry.. "And I heard a giggle.." The Ravenclaw pushed some hair behind her ear as she regarded the wall hanging.. "Surely it's just Miffy giggling right?" She asked as she tuned her purple eyes back up towards the half Japanese boy. |

Jace followed her finger, and instantly, chocolate brown eyes landed on the rather boring tapestry then back to Azura. "A giggle?" he repeated, looking at his best friend as if she had lost her marbles. The Ravenclaw crossed his arms in front of his chest, and took a good look at the tapestry, while his gears began to work. "If it was Miffy...she wouldn't have just giggled and take off...surely...she must have thrown in some mocking words over...anything or anyone she decided to bully." Jace said, taking a few steps towards the tapestry...and around the area looking for...evidence of her mischief. "Whoever...or whatever it is left the area clean." he said, his eyes slowly looking upwards. Nothing there too. "Do you...remember the doll that Rachel found? Was it...ever found? I mean...I do remember that thing giggling too." he said, scratching the side of his head. "Can you describe the giggling further? Was it...a child's giggle?" Jace blinked once...wondering if it was possible for Miffy and Peeves to have...a baby? Merlin's holy beard. |

Her purple eyes watched the half Japanese boy as he looked at the tapestry and then back at her. She could tell that he thought she was one Fwooper short of a nest, but she had heard what she had heard! She wasn't crazy. "Yes, a giggle. " She insisted as she moved her weight to one leg. She tilted her head up to look at the Tapestry as Jace started to speak. "Mmm, you are right there. And Peeves would have dropped something on me.." So it wasn't him either, besides he wasn't the giggling type, that was more Miffy's thing. A shiver worked its way through the short girl at the mere mention of that doll. "Yes I remember that thing! I had a few creepy encounters with it. " That was not a good time in her life, it was after the whole potions fiasco.. and uhh.. her uhh.. well.. *shudder* "But that doll was Miffy.. wasn't it? " She remembered hearing that. Something about her trying to impress Peeves, apparently it had worked? Seeing as they were married now.. "A child's giggle?" Azura's purple eyes went wide with horror. "Dear Sweet Fwoopers you don't think they had... kids.. " Was that even.. possible? |

"Alright...a giggle then." he said nodding his head in understanding. They were in Hogwarts after all. Phenomena such as that could be considered normal, yes? There's always something happening in this school, according to his papa and uncle, and grandpa. Three generations of Reed have witnessed it, so he shouldn't be that bothered. It was more of...an adventure to him. "Yes. I would know since...they were part of the reason why I had my accident in the first place." he trailed off, taking a glance at the moving staircase down the corridor. Now that was some Hogwarts memory he made...and something that his parents were mysteriously silent about. He knows that they know so...does that mean that he will get the talk come summer time? His parents were a considerate bunch, and he was sure he'd get a word or two from them after his Kendo grading. Merlin's dandruff infested beard. What if they won't allow him to return to Hogwarts next term? What if they'd force him back to Mahoutokoro? Not that he's totally against it, but the idea of leaving his friends behind was something that he knew won't sit with him well. But wait, the doll was Miffy? Oh. Oops? "I...didn't know about that bit. Obviously, my head was somewhere else." he said, blushing a little at his hiccup. Jace tilted his head to the side, amused with Azura's expression. It was just natural occurrence, right? Well, to most married people at least, with the exception of his older brother Jakub. "I am not sure if they can have a child, but the fact that they...got married in the first place...then maybe it isn't entirely impossible?" Jace wasn't entirely sold however. "Can...spirits do that? I mean...they are in a different plane than us...and I don't think spirits can do that unless...they opted to...adopt another poltergeist as their own?" Jace chewed on his lip, his brows furrowed in thought. "It definitely is a spirit of some kind. I've heard Lady Helena and the Baron talk something about...a disturbance they felt. I couldn't feel it though...but now it has made its presence known because you can hear it." Now...this is most interesting! |

But she could not read minds, therefore she gave him a warm smile as he chuckled and nudged him gently. Everything was okay, and she hadn't meant her comment in any way other than what it was.. "Mmm, a giggle. " She said softly as she looked up at him for a moment, her purple eyes resting on his face. Though the light in her eyes dimmed and her face feel as he mentioned his accident. She had felt bad that she hadn't been there for him to help. She had visited of course, but.. she had felt like she had let her best friend down. She was the one getting hurt all the time, that was her thing.. she wouldn't allow anyone else to get hurt... "Mmm, well a giggle seems harmless compared to that. " She added as she looked up at the Tapestry for a moment, attempting to compose herself lest she lose the emotions that were trying to leak out of her eyes. A few moments passed before she looked back over at him as he spoke about the doll. "Ahh well, I don't know how many people knew that, I was in the great hall while it happened."" She explained to him, bringing up their first year was probably not a good thing, so she skimmed over that detail carefully. Bygones, yeah? She was happy.. wasn't she? She took a breath and rubbed her head as Jace spoke again.. she didn't want to know if Spirits could do that! "To be honest I don't know.. but..maybe adopted one? " That sounded like a more logical explanation.. "I ran into Sir Nicholas and the Friar the other day. They were also upset and wondering if I felt anything unusual.. maybe whoever the giggle belongs to. Was what they were referring too?" A glance back up at the tapestry was made before she turned back to Jace. |
