The Fat Lady's Portrait
|
Julia/Callum ♥ It had been a hectic 24 hours and Rooney was close to needing a nap during the day - something that he hadn't done since he was 3 years old. The dramatic, exciting feast was so exhausting for his little lungs and enthusiasm that a sleep was well worth it. But he hadn't been able to get anything sorted since, and hadn't yet cleaned off his notebook. PLUS he wanted to speak to Miss Charlotte before they were engulfed in homework and classes and the usual things that came along with being at school. HOWEVER, before even needing to speak to her...he wanted to discover the story behind this Callum person. He wanted to know if they were related or not. He needed to know. So, Rooney had followed the new Gryffindor to his Common Room and when he finally had the courage to shout out his name, the lad had gone into the tower and Roo was left out in the cold. (Not literally, ofc.) It was rather annoying being watched by a portrait, so Rooney had spent the last hour walking up and down the nearby hallways, waiting for Callum to come out again. He knew he would have to, because he'd have to eat. |

For now, however, he looked forward to the adventure of finding his way to the food sources, no map in hand, and he simply wanted to explore. So, as he exited the common room through the portrait hole, he had a smile on his face and a thirst for adventure-- Oi! Callum jolted backward, alarmed by the boy who was standing right outside the portrait, but the Gryffindor covered up the startle with a polite smile before continuing on with his adventure. Totally chill. |

"Kettleburn!" Yes, yes, that was him. He remembered his face from his sorting. Roo considered just how much the first year looked like Miss Charlotte and probably seemed like he was assessing the kid in ridiculous amounts. He just...wow... "Just wanted to uh...say...uh...welcome." |

He was unsure, but he did stop in his voyage, turning to face the Ravenclaw with a smile, alert and curious. He... just wanted to welcome him? Well. That was... very, very nice, and the Gryffindor laughed shortly, undeniably a little embarrassed to have been acknowledged at all. "Thank you," he replied, reaching a hand up to ruffle his own sandy hair a bit awkwardly. "I... truly sorry, but I... am not entirely sure who you are." Should he have remembered him from somewhere? What was his name? "Sorry," he said again, mostly because he did not want to make the boy feel bad for not being recognized, and Callum already liked him. He had known who he was, after all, and had made a point of being nice to him when he did not have to. There was nothing not to like about this boy so far. |

Bugger. He should have expected that. As someone who typically made sure to be aware of all possible situations, Rooney was less than prepared for this whole experience. He mirrored the movement of the other lad in ruffling his hair, and bit into his cheek whilst considering how to go about this. ".... Hello." Well that was the worst explanation of his life. His mother would be so very disappointed in him. That was, if she were to ever find out. She wouldn't though. Roo was utmost pleased that Tamzin could find out very little about his life at school unless she was explicitly told. He dropped his hand back to his pocket and shrugged. "No matter, kid. You don't know me. Just uh... saw you get sorted. Gryffindor, like Miss Charlotte. -- She..uh...your cousin?" He knew that Miss Charlotte was part of a big extended family, but they hadn't exactly spoken about it. "M'Rooney. Rooney Bronwyn." And he was an absolute idiot. |
