Quote:
Welcome to your second duel. Each dueler is expected to adhere to all DADA Classroom rules, Dueling Club Rules and SS site rules. Spells may be used from the following List. Any spells on this list are not permitted unless approval has been granted. If you have completed/participated in the second DADA Lesson, regarding the homing spell, you are now permitted to use it during your duel. Physical actions and their costs can be found below: NOTE: Fatigue points ONLY need to be used when you are physically attacking someone, or avoiding a spell. All other maneuverings around the hall do not need to be accounted for. Text Cut: Cost of Physical Actions -------------------------------------- A referee (Professor Flamsteed or Dakest) will be assigned to your duel and present. They will only interfere if there is need, including foul play, serious injury or unacceptable or illogical use of spells. Remember to... Display etiquette. Maintain respect. Exhibit integrity. Demonstrate skill. Find ingenuity. Use cunning. Maintain strength. Good luck -------------------------------------- OOC: Each duel must be completed by no later than November 20, midnight GMT-6 (OOC). Remember that a duel ends when one dueler has lost ALL magic or ALL health points. Please make duels a minimum of 3 posts each. Please review the Q & A Thread. If you have questions, please ask. Also, if for some reason you cannot complete or start your duel, please let both me and your partner know. We will work something out. Remember: duelers MUST keep track of their own points as they go. At the top of their post (in the tag line) they must include their current standing of points, as they are at the BEGINNING of that post. At the bottom of their post, they must include a 'spoiler' tag, including the spells which they've cast (and the directionallity of the spell, so the opponent can easily reference the potential damage to themselves), the spell(s) that have affected them (if any) and their own final Point Standing for that post. |
H: 400, m: 400, f: 25 Alright. Time to get this party started. Cutty held his ivory looking aspen wand and put a finger to the tip. "Commander Bond, I've been expecting you." The Slytherin childman held the wand across his chest and bowed toward Benzi Rider. This meant beginning the duel. "Serpensortia." He said, conjuring the thin little gray snake. He needed something fast and wanted to get Benzi's defenses going if this was to be a worthwhile venture for the two of them. It was a close tie as to who wanted Benzi to become an auror more; himself or Cutty. And so Cutty had decided that despite Rider being his best mate, there would be little to no mercy. An easy feat for a sociopath who did NOT take his healing potions that morning. Thus, the black mamba, the fastest snake in the world and deadliest on the Continent, joined their little soiree. Mordaunt hung back to hone in on Benzi's reaction. SPOILER!!: Points Tracker |
h: 400 m: 400 f: 30 Benzi Rider up against Cutty Mordaunt. He supposed it was bound to happen eventually. Better now than the final duel of the year. Aware of Cutty's intimate knowledge of his casting styles, Benzi had spent the last few days reading up on alternative and unique ways of tackling opponents, only realising towards the end that he liked the way he went about his defenses and didn't want to change anything at all. He was perfectly capable of beating Cutty, he just needed to be clever about it. Speaking of, they were off. Bowing and ignoring whatever it was Cutty was on about - Bond? Like that fictional muggle bloke? - he raised his wand, relaxed his shoulders and remained silent. Benzi did not believe in idle chitchat during duels, especially when he was hyper aware of Dakest's presence behind the bubble they were in. The seventh year was halfway into conjuring up a shield when out of Cutty's wand appeared a snake and not a spell. Well. All right. Changing tactics, Benzi cast "Waddiwasi!" at the reptile and launched it back towards his friend's face. Instantly realising a flying snake was almost a perfect distraction and a golden opportunity, Benzi took a step forward and sent a jelly-brain jinx towards Cutty as well. Text Cut: Points Tracker |
H: 400, m: 375, f: 25 The reaction was immediate, and ...the sort of thing a Benzi Rider would do. Throw things in your face. Still the writhing and highly irritated ribbon beast whipped at Cutty as it sucker punched him and then passed. The last coherent thought Cutty had was, 'This is what it was like to be Eden McGee' as his brain turned toward the nonsensical. It was like someone had given him an elixir of Alice. And inviting little bottle that enticed one to 'drink me' and left the taker in a psychedelic haze. Never knowing what was real and what was concocted. Everything seemed much more vibrant, but also misshapen. Not unlike a funhouse. A funhouse...Is that where they were? He was dueling Benzi. In a funhouse. No. No, definitely not. It HAD to be the men's loo. There was garass here. Garass. Green, slippy-fnippy garass. Feeling rather elated. Cutty held his hands out at the side of his face in a teasing gesture toward Benzi Rider. Or he meant to, but the motor skills were affected and all that happened was a rather large step to the left and a raspberry. SPOILER!!: Points Tracker |
h: 400 m: 355 f: 30 Ready for Cutty to pull off some crazy defense tactic and get out of the bind Benzi had put him in, he was completely alert and therefore utterly surprised when his offense maneuver actually worked. The snake had thwacked him across the face - which, by the way, would be a beautiful visual in Benzi's mind when his head space allowed him to appreciate the absurdity of it - and then his usually very sharp friend began acting not so sharply at all. Perfect. The jelly fingers curse had already left his lips when Cutty blew a raspberry at him. Ignoring it completely, Benzi followed up his jinx with an "Expelliarmus Pesequoris", adding the homing spell just in case his not quite right in the head opponent decided to cartwheel around the hall or something similar. Text Cut: Points Tracker |
H: 370, m: 360, f: 25 Cutty was blowing the raspberry as the jelly fingers curse flew his way. In his excitement, he began to play an imaginary piano. Because he thought he'd been hit and he wanted the combination of uncontrolled fingers plus Rachmaninoff, but instead all he got was silence and grass. This caused him to SLAM the key cover on the piano SHUT. There was no piano, though, sooo... Cutty thought he was daydreaming when he felt his wand leave him. He tried to grip it. Catch it in the air as it left him, but it was gone, having nested itself somewhere in the grass. It was not alone. The conjured mamba moved quietly and quickly, her body undulating over the hilt of the young wizard's rapierish wand and heading for the direction of the disturbance. Territorial. It was at this time that Cutty, walking through the dueling space, began to come to and Benzi would have two snakes in the grass to deal with. "We should go swimmin', mate." he said excitedly as if there weren't one of the world's deadliest snakes darting between them. "There's probably a pewl in here." He finished pretending to look for said pool whilst under the influence of the jelly brains jinx and spotting his wand. SPOILER!!: Points Tracker |
h: 400 m: 305 f: 30 Good news: wand was out of Cutty's hand and very close to him. Bad news: that snake had it now and Benzi did NOT want to summon that thing into his hand. His brain spell would wear off soon and he couldn't afford to not have Cutty's wand in his hand when that happened. He might even have a second wand. Where they allowed second wands? There's a question for Dakest after this duel. He couldn't lose the advantage he had right now. Cutty wandless was exactly how he wanted him. Armed with the knowledge that one could not produce a magical protection spell with a jelly brain and, more importantly, without a wand, Benzi cast a Confundus Charm towards him with the homing spell latched onto the end. Hapless, wandless Cutty. Yes please. Now for the snake. "Vipera Evanesca!" the seventh year cast with every intention of watching the animal vanish before his eyes, then moved forward to grab the wand from the ground. Text Cut: Points Tracker |
Howdy! Just as a heads up, the duel has been extended. You have until midnight (GMT-7) on Sunday November 22, to finish your duels. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask :) ------------------------ IMPORTANT: Also, please indicate in an OOC note in your next post whether you would prefer your next duel to be the FINALS (with possible dueling guests) or another round with students. We only have time for one or the other :) |
H: 330 M: 345 F:25 [I vote for Finals! :)] To say that the effects of the jellybrain jinx had completely worn off wouldn't be entirely accurate. It was however dissipated enough that Cutty could start to get a better gauge of the situation around him. He understood that they were dueling and that Benzi had hit him with something which caused him to feel quite confused and almost out of it. It was sort of a feeling of elation or was that excitement? Or was it both? He didn't really have time to sort it out as another spell was heading his way. And that one he knew well the effects of. The dark haired manboychild dove for his wand whilst his opponent uttered the very long spell needed to rid them of the snake. He fired back at the oncoming confundus with the arrow shooting spell absorbing the hit with one of them. Benzi was at close range now, though so that opened possibilities. Cutty returned to his perennial favourite when he shot off, "Glacius." Bensicle. If the spell hit, he was gonna lick Benzi just to tease him about it later. SPOILER!!: Points Tracker |
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, there would be no Bensicle and no licking. The grandfather clock went off in the corner of the room, tolling the end of the rather interesting duel. With it, the blue shield curtain went up between the two boys, dissipating Morduant's ice spell with a fizzle and hiss. The shield dropped in a shower of silver flecks as Sabel moved up to the two kids. "Keeping it interesting, as always, Mr. Rider. Mr. Morduant." An unreadable look for both of them. Suppose he had to announce a winner, didn't he? Raising his wand, Sabel shot off a brief gold spark above Rider's head. "Winner. Benzi Rider!" Lowering his wand, Sabel glanced between the two boys, and gave a quick wave of finite to Morduant, just in case some spell effects were still lingering. "Well done." OOC: Thanks so much for dueling! It was an awesome read! Duel is now officially over. Thanks for your feedback! In consideration of feedback and time constraints, we are going to do a final round of duels between students. However if you would like to duel a Professor from the club, please VM or PM me (and I will check with the chosen professor) :) This will be a 'for fun' challenge duel, if you decide to do so (and should not replace the duel with the student you are paired up with, so please consider your own time constraints/options). |
