Restricted Section

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...Restricted.jpg

The restricted section of the library is as the name implies restricted. In this roped off and locked section you will find old fragile books and tomes. Some of the texts are dark and dangerous and therefore cannot be kept where just anyone can get a hold of them. Should you need to access to this area to retrieve a book, you need to seek out the librarian; Mr Kitridge with a signed permission slip from a professor. This will allow you to obtain the book you need.

Do not enter the restricted section without permission . It is not advisable and any students found in the restricted section without permission will be punished. Mr Kitridge is happy to help but some books are just dangerous and too dark.

Cartographer's meeting ^_^

Restricted Section of the Library!

Adi had never found the need to borrow any books from this section but that didn't mean his curiosity about it wasn't flying high. He eyed the roped off area which contained ancient looking books, wondering if they could edge a little closer to explore sketch.

Speaking of sketches... Adi looked down at his book. He had some pretty snazzy drawings of the stained glass windows- the creatures in particular. Of course there was a Hippogriff or two. Hehe. He looked back at the Librarian who had led the way here, waiting for the go ahead to start sketching. Or maybe he had warnings for them first?

Holmesian Feline 03-07-2015 09:36 PM

Benny was quick on his best friend's heels as they moved over to the next section of the library, staying just outside of the roped off area. For now. Surely Mr. Kitridge would determine just how far they were to go within said space. Please say inside...please say inside. He hadn't yet developed an idea to give a reason to ask permission. Well other than the possibility of animangus training.

Looking over at the Hufflepuff, he could see Adi was just as curious as he was. Birds of a feather it was...as always. Though he supposed badgers were more safe with that kind of things. Lions were a sort of cat after all and you knew that adage about cats and curiousity.

WhittyBitty 03-08-2015 05:26 AM

Despite the need to be cautious, Lux couldn't help but feel rather curious as she joined Benny and Adi at the restricted section. Chalk it up to her curious nature, but she was still going to be very careful not to touch any of the books unless she knew them to be safe. Maybe Mr. Kitridge could help her out with that since he would know the books.

Patiently she waited for the go ahead to draw more sketches though she kind of wished that she could have gotten another stain glass window or two in. The mermaid had been so pretty and there was also a Unicorn that she wished she could draw. Maybe there was a dragon as well!

He led the way into the Restricted Section of the library making sure to trip the switch as he passed over the threshold to not risk sending out an alarm to the caretaker. As they neared the chained shelves Leo's hand went down to his wand holster.

Stopping a little to the left of the shelves not have his back against the books he said to his little student group. "Welcome to the Restricted Section of the library where books and tomes of old have their resting place. The books found in this section can be described as dark, sinister and cunning so I caution you all to remain vigilant and to stay near me. If you hear whispers and voices coming from these very old books whatever you do don't listen."

Leo let his eyes grace over the chained up books on the shelves and said after a moment or two. "Let's get to work on drawing some nice pictures of the chained books on the shelves. If you have any questions about this section, or the books in here then feel free to ask them as we draw."

FearlessLeader19 03-08-2015 05:50 PM

Yes, Adi had heard about these books being dark and what not but he had never really had an experience with them. He was wondering a lot about those books now. Were there books for each Hogwarts subject there? How old were some of those books? But mist importantly... "Why shouldn't we listen to the whispers, Mr Kitridge?" Did the books offer bad advice or something? Or did they somehow possess the listener? Hmmm.

His question asked, the fifth year raised his book so he could get a move on with the drawing. Books being chained up was so weird. This thought only caused him to be even more curious about them... that and the fact that he wanted to explore the pages.

Oh yeah. Adi was being vigilant too with every moment his eyes darting around the Restricted Section and its occupants.

Thorbert O. Kenting 03-08-2015 08:19 PM

The Restricted Section!

Thorbert looked everyyyyywhere with so much interest that he resembled a muggle in this world. It didn't bother him, though. His memory just tried to take everything in for his own pleasure (Hogwarts during his student era vs. This new one) and for professional reasons. Mapping was no easy task, but his expert hand worked effectively.

Deezerz 03-08-2015 09:42 PM

Dark. Sinister. Cunning.

This was starting to sound more like a dangerous adventure rather than just a meeting. There was a lot of pent up energy inside the Slytherin, she was sort of hoping for something interesting to happen. Then again, she valued her life so she opted for sketching.

It was hard to managed a pencil when there was a wand in the same hand, but her mind was telling her not to put it away. It was the Restricted Section for a reason.

"Because some might manipulate you to do bad things," she said, standing next to the Hufflepuff Prefect. It was just a guess, but if this part of the library was anything like her grandmother's then those books existed within these bookshelves.

Leo turned to a fresh page in his notebook and began to sketch the shelves loosely on the parchment with his pencil. He hadn’t made much head way before Adi asked a qualified question. Looking up from his notebook Leo was about to answer, but was beaten to the punch by Beverly. After a quick glance around the quiet section he said with a glance in Adi's direction. "Beverly is correct. You shouldn't listen to the voices or whispers because that is how the books in this section ensnare their human victims through manipulation and possessing Adi."

Leo paused for a moment to before he asked them all. "None of you could have forgotten the book that enchanted people and made them act like characters from famous fairy tales last year right? That book came from this section of the library." Could they understand now why they had to remain vigilant?

Gaze shifting to Mr Kenting Leo asked curiously "Have you mapped a school as big as Hogwarts before coming here?"

Lowering his head to his notebook Leo gestured with a hand for the student’s to do the same and carry on with their sketches. They had little time to waste.

FearlessLeader19 03-09-2015 07:36 PM

Before Mr Kitridge could get to his question, Beverly answered. And when the Librarian confirmed the answer, Adi smiled at her. "Thanks for answering that.'' His attention back on Kitridge, the Puffer nodded. "I understand.'' Also, there was NO WAY he wanted to be listening to any whispers now. And his eyes did dart briefly to Benny. No, Adi wasn't ever going to forget the book that turned his bestie into the Mad Hatter.

The fifth year continued with his sketching, listening in on Mr Kitridge's and Kenting's freshly started conversation. Gosh, his drawing attempts could be so bad sometimes. The only thing that looked good was the Hippogriff from the Stained Glass Windows but that was to be expected.

WhittyBitty 03-09-2015 07:41 PM

O_O

Yeeeeah, so Mr. Kitridge and everyone else wasn't making her feel aaaany better about the books in this section of the library. Warily Lux eyed them all, figuring that if any stepped out of line she could blast them with a hex. Haha, she'd like to see them try something after a good dose of magic.

It was hard to hold both her wand and a pencil in the same hand, but somehow Lux managed and a fairly decent drawing was being made in her notebook. The mention of the fairy tale book brought to mind the black out she had gone through last term when she believed herself to be Ariel. "That book is gone now...right?" Because she never wanted to see it again.

Holmesian Feline 03-09-2015 08:26 PM

With Mr. Kitridge leading, they actually entered the restricted section, reminding Benny of before. He was trying his best to push it aside and focus on the new visit to the section to avoid bad vibes. The fifth year nodded as the librarian instructed them all to the nature of the books inside and told them to be wary of anything they might hear that wasn't from him or one of the other students.

Fine by him. Books making noises was not a good thing in his memory.

He let his gaze wander over the various shelves, curious as to the number of books within the section. So many that had questionable natures. Granted not as plentiful as the amounts of more mundane tomes outside the barrier....but still. Ben turned back as the topic of why they weren't to listen was explained and he felt his best friend's gaze fall upon him, however briefly. Shiver. No need to worry about this lion, Adi. He'd be staying far away from any dastardly plans as he sketched this area. The very source of the earlier troubles.

Cue another shiver.

The Gryffindor had no desire to be the Mad Hatter again...or anything worse.

Leo sketched with his attention split between the drawing on his parchment and the books in the section. His ears were strained for any sound out of place. At the first sign of trouble he’d get the student’s out of there and then patronus for assistance. Hopefully nothing would happen during their short visit.

Hearing Lux's question Leo looked up from his drawing and flashed Lux his most reassuring smile. "Yes, the book is long gone. I personally delivered it to the Ministry of Magic last summer so that their experts in the department of Mysteries could investigate the book thoroughly. For all I know it's still there."

Glancing down at this watch he said "Finish your drawings quickly everyone. We have one more place to visit on our mapping expedition before we break for the day."

"Not a school, but towns and cities," he said and focused back on his drawings, because he didn't know WHAT book they were talking about.

Whoop, whoop went his pencil as he studied everywhere carefully, then drew it without looking up again.

Aaaaand, after a second or two, he was done!

"All finished, Sir," he said as if he was one of the students too, closed his notebook and waited calmly for the others.

Goody! That weird, creepy book was away from the School. Let it be someone else's problem. But besides the book occupying a part of his mind, Adi was thinking about what Professor XavierMr Kenting had said. Towns AND cities?! "That must have taken you months!'' So compared to those cities and towns, Hogwarts was nothing... even though the Caste and the Grounds were so huge!

The bespectacled prefect worked to finish up his sketches and Mr Kitridge had urged them to and so he was only about a minute behind Kenting of being done. "Also done, Mr Kitridge.'' Nooooow, where were they heading next?

Leo finished up his drawing of the chained books and shelves adding a flair of colour with the use of his wand. He was just pocketing his notepad in a robe pocket when Mr Kenting answered his question. Gazing over to the scholar he said "Interesting, did you just map cities and towns in Scotland or all over the world too?"

Looking around at his little group consisting of Adi, Benny, Lux and Beverly and Mr Kenting of course Leo said "Come on then! We are going to map the Tapestry next. It's supposed to be a mysterious and beautiful piece of textile. You can finish your drawings later."

Leading the way out of the Res Section Leo made sure to turn on the silent alarm again before he exited the library.

Holmesian Feline 03-11-2015 07:00 PM

A castle such as Hogwarts was a large and complicated enough endevour. Benny could only imagine the work and time that was needed for a project such as the the cartographer described. Momentarily distracted from his drawings by the thought, he had to be prodded back to work by Mr. Kitridge. Soon enough he had a good finishing point for the drawing and the librarian was moving them on anyway so he stopped what he was doing.

Good bye Restricted Section. The lion moving to follow the Ravenclaw Head of House out of the mysterious space to this Tapestry that he spoke of. Benny was trying to think if such a thing was something he remembered from earlier visits to the library as he walked.

WhittyBitty 03-12-2015 06:25 AM

Sighing, Lux was relieved to hear that the book was long gone, and Mr. Kitridge's smile managed to put her further at ease. After smiling back to him, she continued to draw since there wasn't a lot of time and she didn't want to hold everyone back. So far the books were leaving her alone and for that she was very grateful.

Finishing up just as it was announced they were to head off to the tapestry, Lux followed behind Mr. Kitridge and Benny. At least there was no evil things to worry about in the next location though she was having fun and didn't want the meeting to end. Things like this were interesting and kept her distracted.
