Transfiguration 1 -Let the Storm Rage On As is per usual, Transfiguration class is one of the first lessons for the day. Yes, bright and early. Of course your professor doesn't wish to hear any complaints or see any yawning because you should all just be used to it by now. When you enter the classroom, you notice that the desk and chairs are all neatly lined to the sides. The windows that would normally be wide open for the crisp morning breeze to wave through are closed and Professor Bellaire is standing by her desk waiting, wand in hand and scowl in place. On the board is an outline of sorts. Quote:

First lesson of the day. Transfiguration. Leah was actually looking forward to her first Transfiguration lesson of the new school year, and she was unusually bright-eyed and clear-minded as she entered the classroom (eeep! She was early!). And of course, she knew that Professor Bellaire did not like to see people yawning. The second year walked to the professor's desk and said, "Good morning, Professor Bellaire! Hope you had a nice summer. And uh, in case you don't know, my name is Leah Abbott. Second year." She looked quite fierce today, or was it normal? Leah, walking towards a desk, scanned the board. Ice Menagerie Garden. Seems fun. She stood next to a desk in the middle near a window and waited for the lesson to begin. |
West was early. And his uniform was tidy and straight of course because it was Bellaire. He'd made extra sure of being spotless since after she'd snapped him and Vesper in the library he didn't really want to draw her ire in any particular way. .... and she was scowling. "Good morning Professor Bellaire." the former captain greeted, and found a spot nearish the front. He stood and waited, looking around the room until his eyes settled on the board. Ice menagerie? .... ice sculpture stuff maybe? He was intrigued. |
She was not sleepy. Nope, she wasn't. Who said that? Her eyes were feeling a little bit smaller was all. And all the way to the classroom, the blond willed them to open properly. She could do it. Seemed like being seventeen didn't mean she could wake up early whenever she went to sleep. Cassia was so going to sleep early today. Getting out of bed was so hard just a bit ago. Though, by the time she got to the classroom, she had thankfully been able to look as refreshed as possible. And so she entered the classroom, and a chill ran through her body. An extra layer wouldn't have hurt. Too late however. "Good morning, Professor," she greeted the woman who stood like it was sometime in the evening. How did she manage that? |
As per usual, Nigel did not like classes this early. But Transfig was the exception since he actually liked this class. Nigel yawned before entering the room to get it out of his system. Though it is not like you can control the thing. They are contagious. "Morning Professor" Nigel stood/leaned against an open desk and waited to see how long it would take before she wrote her summer was fine on the board again. That was hilarious. Oh look at that, Ice Menagerie. Sounds interesting. |
Lucy was excited for the first lesson of Transfiguration. Lucy walked into the classroom, she smiled and said: "Good morning Professor Bellaire, my name is Lucy, a first year!" Then she turned to see a familiar face... |
Quote:
She knew. It was her job to know. "Good morning Miss Abbott. My summer was fine." Quote:
"Good morning Mr. Odessa." Quote:
"Good morning Ms. Somerlad. I trust you're well." Quote:
She slipped her wand back up her sleeve into her arm holster and folded her arms then looked between West and Nigel. "I know you boys grow your hair because you're doing the band of dead kneazels thing, but I am going to insist that you pull it into a ponytail when coming to class. You are going to tuck said ponytail under so it's a stump. Otherwise you'll leave class with a high and tight." Quote:
Really, these parents should invest in wizard prep. Students needed prepping before they start official schooling. |
Transfiguration was early as usual. Not that Adi minded. He felt well rested so he happily made his way to the classroom. "Good morning, Professor,'' Adi greeted cheerfully. There weren't many students present and he supposed a few might be hurriedly getting ready in their dorms. Adi found a seat somewhere in the middle of the class but of course he didn't sit. The boy stood next to the desk, waiting patiently for Bellaire to give permission first. |

...? West eyed Bellaire for a moment. He'd been wearing his hair long since he'd grown it out several years ago, and Nigel was much the same, so why now? She'd been teaching them both for literal years and it hadn't been a problem before. Actually, the hair predated the band for both of them. He shot a quick look at Nigel, somewhat amused, and then returned his attention to Bellaire. "I don't mind tying my hair back, Professor." But if the girls could have non-stumpy hair, then why couldn't he? He tied his hair back, not at all bothered by that part at least, but didn't tuck nothing. No stumpy hair for West Odessa, but it was tidy at least, and had been slicked back before he'd arrived so no wild strands out of place either. |
You would think being off to the side of the room. You would would not told off for leaning against a desk. Wonder if she would have said the same thing last term. Things to ponder. But apparently since he was early, he could not even get that luxury. If it was one. Kneazels....... Oh, their band and what was that that about their hair. It was a tiny bit amusing. Since his and West's haisr has been long for ages now. But..that was a threat. A threat against his beautiful hair. "I don't mind putting it in a ponytail and a high and tight is not necessary" Ever. It was just the stump he had a problem with. But it is not like he is going to say anything. She threatened his hair. |
Toby was now very much used to the standards that Professor Bellaire expected in her classroom. He was very glad it was one of the first lessons of the day, too, because his restless self wouldn't have the time to end up looking all scruffy thanks to the perpetual motion thing. He'd stopped in the boy's bathroom just before getting here, making sure his uniform was still on straight and his hair was tidy (though he'd showered after his morning run, so it had no reason not to be), and now headed into the classroom. "G'morning Professor Bellaire," Toby said brightly as he entered, heading to his usual spot at the side of the classroom, over by one of the closed windows. There was no chair or desk to stand behind so Toby merely stood there. He found himself tapping his hands against his legs and quickly moved his hands so they were clasped behind his back, not wanting to irritate the professor. One knee was already lightly bouncing, and Toby did his best to keep the movement as discreet as possible, chewing anxiously on his lip as he did so. He almost seemed to give off the air that he was trembling, though that was favourable, if you asked him. |

"..Tuck the ponytails....." She tapped her wand in her hand middle as she looked at them and waited patiently. |
Hmm? Vesper had stopped just outside of the classroom to make sure everything was in order. Hair brushed, clothes straight, shoes shiny...but when she'd finally entered, Bellaire was threatening hair. Well, it was obvious who's hair. Who else really had it? Her eyes found West and Nigel both. What was with the ponytails? And why were they being asked to...tuck them? Confusion. Yes, that's what her look entailed. Not thinking much more about it, she casually strode over to the seat beside West and grinned. There was a grin for Nigel, too. Band people. Though, if Scan showed his face, she was NOT speaking to him...or even LOOKING in his direction. Nope. SO MUCH 'NOPE'. "Good morning, Professor Bellaire." Her tone was all polite. She wouldn't still be sore at her for library related things, would she? |
Bay walked into the transfiguration class room and stopped a few students there already, seeing the Professor out of the corner of his eye he started to speak with out really looking at her "Professor, good morning... I wanted to tell you about my Transfiguration OWL------" thats when he looked up to see her looking mad.. Wait was she actually scowling...gulp. He didnt say any more as he moved his way to the other students to see he notice board... ice what??? He had no clue what it meant but he wasnt going to ask, He was a little afraid. |
Jasmine was up bright and early today, ready for her first Transfiguration class. She had heard that the Professor was a stickler for neatness so she made sure to double check her appearance before class. Arriving at the classroom, she was intending to intoduce herself to Professor Bellaire. Jasmine was not exactly encouraged by the look on the Professor's face. On her way to finding a seat, Jasmine approached Professor Bellaire and said, "Good morning Professor". "My name is Jasmine Guidry. I'm new to Hogwarts and I'm really looking forward to your class." Moving on, she found an empty desk. Noticing that her classmates did not sit down, Jasmine stood by her desk and waited for further instructions. |

....... Though...Toby's constant movements didn't escape her eyes. She turned to eye him briefly. Quote:
"Have you lost your mind? Get out and re-enter properly." |
Angel had been looking forwards to this class. "I'm Angel Valentine, First Year." Angel beamed at the Professor. "I hope that you had a great summer and I can't wait to learn more magic from my magic stick." Angel beamed she really couldn't wait to learn but she was confused about what was written on the board but decided she didn't want to look stupid, no one else was asking what it was. |
Oh no..Transfiguration.. Not one of her strongest classes. And not not only that, Professor Bellaire certainly frightened the second year. It wasn't that she was absolutely terrible at Transfiguration, it was just, she was absolutely terrified of doing something wrong & getting yelled at by the scary Professor. Josie made sure her uniform was perfect, as well as her hair, as she made her way into the classroom. Her blue eyes settled right on the scowling Professor Bellaire. …Oh dear... She gulped a little bit, before clearing her throat as she spoke in a shaky soft tone, "G-Good morning, P-Professor B-Bellaire.." As if it wasn't any more obvious that she was terrified, she knew it was best not to show any other sign. Josie smiled politely before turning on her heels heading straight for a seat, placing her bum down instantly. |
Nigel gave a look at West before thinking it would be the wisest course of action to just be quiet and do as she wants. Occam's Razor and all that. Nobody else entering the room seemed to be helping matters. If fact they seemed to only be making things worse. So yeah, He put his hair into a ponytail and then tucked it. It was not the best look. But he did not want a haircut from Bellaire. So he did not have much of a choice. |

Walking back in he didn't look at the Professor but he kept his mouth shut and stood there. |
Candice was not a morning person but somehow she managed to get herself out of the bed. Maybe its because the fact that Transfiguration was one of the classes she was looking forward too. The first year checked her appearance first before she entered the classroom. Yes, she did read the rules and her brother already warned her about how strict the Transfiguration Professor was. After she's sure that everything was in order, Candice made her way into the classroom. "Good Morning, Professor." she greeted the Transfiguration politely. And she did notice her scowl. She wondered why. |
Sophie caught most of what had been going on as she entered through the classroom door. She made a quick mental note of things. - West and Nigel had to pull their hair back. - Some girl got called by her name and her year, for some reason. - That Gryffindor guy, who was just excited about his OWL, got yelled at and told to re-enter class. Conclusion: Who died and left Bellaire to be Queen? Sophie had always tried her hardest to respect the Transfiguration professor, but she did think her rules and procedures were a little out there and unnecessary. Didn't every teenager dislike something about the adults they were around, though? Shrug. "Good morning, Professor Bellaire," she said, as she passed by the woman. Then she found a spot and stood waiting to be told to sit down. |
Bellaire was going to get wrinklier if she kept that scowl going like that. "Hello, Professor." Schuyler slipped into the classroom, her books hugged against her chest. The closed windows and the arrangement of desks were both noted, and once she'd found a place to set her things down, she glanced to the blackboard for insight on the lesson. Ice menagerie. Aah. Her first thoughts went to that topiary project for Herbology. Blue eyes skimmed the rest of the classroom and she found that Nigel and West were going for some new looks with that long hair. Tucked in? ..Well. That must have been at Bellaire's request because that looked kind of horrid. Such a shame to hide away their nice hair. Though it didn't look like their professor was hassling any of the girls about it, so double standard it was. She smirked at the two boys and lifted her eyebrows as if to say 'nice hair' in plain sarcasm. Teasing, you know. |
Marigold was a bit afraid of Bellaire, to be honest. Actually, more honest things - she knew she wasn't the only one. Between walking in to Dead Kneazle members wearing their hair all weird and passing a boy leaving just to come back in - it seemed they were all a little terrified. Well, what better way to ensure good manners? "Good morning, Professor Bellaire," she said, offering a genuine smile. Just because she was terrified of her didn't mean she wasn't a good teacher? Plus, she absolutely ADORED her term projects. And it seemed they had a good one this year. By the way, she was NOT sitting down. Never ever before she told them to, NUH UH. |
Norah had been skipping down the hall until she reached the doorway of the transfiguration classroom and noticed from afar the scowl on the professor's face. She sure didn't look like she would condone skipping. Norah stood up straight and walked stiffly into the room with her shoulders squared. When she passed the professor's desk she gave her a meek smile and said, "Good morning, Professor Bellaire. My n-n-name is Norah Kittredge." Darn! Even after all her propriety she had still stuttered. She gave the professor another smile, hoping she simply hadn't noticed her stumble, and turned to take a seat at the front row of desks. She wondered offhandedly if Professor Bellaire was always so stern. Maybe she just wasn't a morning person. Nobody else seemed to be sitting, so she stood stiffly next to the desk waiting for instructions. Norah's eyes fell on the board and she read the outline quickly. An ice menagerie? Sounds cool! She found her excitement surge back to her, and gave a discreet bounce or two. No matter how intensely the professor seemed to be scowling, at least the lesson would be cool! |
Cris peeked in and was glad class hadn't started yet. He remembered Sander mentioning how Professor Bellaire particular was about cleanliness and etiquette. So before he stepped in, he tucked his shirt into his pants, cleaned his shoes, smoothed down any errant hair strands down. Giving himself a once over examination to make sure everything was neat and in place, Cris stepped into the classroom. Walking over to where the Professor was standing, Cris gave her a smile and greeted her. "Hello Professor Bellaire. My name is Cristoffer Strand and I'm looking forward to your lesson," Cris informed the Transfiguration Professor. Then he turned around and quickly walked over to where Jasmine was standing, together with Bay and Lux. Giving each of them a smile and a nod, he stood quietly waiting to be told what to do next. As he waited he read what was written on the board. Interesting, very interesting, Cris thought to himself. |
Oh freaking Merlin, why so EARLY?! Fine, it was 'school' and whatever and MAYBE he shouldn't have stayed up so late trying to charm paper aeroplanes but this lesson was still taking place at stupid o'clock and he didn't like it. He'd almost ended up oversleeping. Jeez. This school thing was hard, man. When was Friday evening going to roll around? Since it had taken him too long to get himself out of bed, Grayson found himself running to the sixth floor hastily trying to adjust his robes and tie because merlin forbid that they should be hanging off of him so loosely. When that was done, the fourth year slowed his pace to a walk and took a minute or two to fiercely chomp down on the piece of toast he had unceremoniously stuffed into his mouth. Couldn't come to a lesson without breakfast, you know. Ready? Set? Enter. ................ Okay. People were STANDING. And the desks were lined to the side. Maybe this was a good thing; he was less likely to fall asleep if he was standing up. And the woman was the Professor, yes? Stern looking one, she was. "Good morning, Professor." He gave her a nod and a small smile before walking off to stand somewhere near the middle of the classroom. Just somewhere. What were they even meant to do? Stand? Wait? Look pretty? He was going to get bored. Instead, his blue eyes landed on the board where he raised an eyebrow at the words 'ice menagerie' but inwardly cringed at the word 'project'. Please make this a fun one. |
A little nervously Lux made her way over to the Transfiguration classroom. She liked the Professor, but there was no doubt that the woman was STRICT. First things first, she had made sure her clothing was clean and up to code. Smile on her face, she addressed the scowling woman. "Hello, Professor!" Not even questioning the set up of the class or the topic of the lesson, she went over to where Bay and her friends were. They each got a smile and a wave, but she was scared to talk much when the Professor was scowling. |
Gwen knew that Professor Bellaire didn't like them to look tired or mention being tired, so she didn't, though she was. As long as she didn't think about how tired she was she could avoid yawning and drooping. Maybe. It was her own fault anyway. She'd been thinking too much and hadn't fallen asleep until well past her normal bedtime. So it was fake-it-until-you-feel-awake time. "Good morning, Professor!" Gwen said brightly choosing a spot in the middle of the classroom but not sitting. The chairs and desks were all on the side of the room. Bellaire always seemed to be in a foul mood. Gwen wondered if maybe she hated kids. Or mornings. Either way, she'd chosen the wrong profession if she didn't enjoy those sorts of things. Also there seemed to be a disagreement going on about hair. Gwen didn't really get that. Maybe because she had a brother who had had long hair for as long as she could remember. If girls could have long hair or short hair as they chose, boys should get the same option. This was discrimination or something. Gwen considered speaking up, but she really didn't want to break her streak of not losing any points, so she stayed quiet. Maybe she would write an anonymous note to Professor Bellaire about it after classes. |
The seventeen year-old had barely set a foot in the door when he heard the professor Oh, and she was donning a scowl on her face. Errr.....was she always like this? The real question was whether it'd be safer to keep his mouth shut or actually introduce himself. He did a quick check over his uniform to see if anything was out of place or anything that might upset her and then, CAUTIOUSLY, walked over to his new Transfiguration professor. "Er, hello, Professor. I'm Declan Hazelwood. I'm new here." CHARMING GRIN. |
Transfiguration was weird. Well not really. Kyroh couldn't be sure of that just yet. All he knew was that this Professor was one that he was not suppose to anger. Kyroh walked along rubbing his sleepy eyes as he made his way to the classroom. It probably wasn't a good idea to be rubbing both eyes at the same time. Actually it was a completely horrible idea. It was probably exactly why the first year missed the door to the classroom completely and collided straight with the wall on the left hand side. Owwwwwww. Blinking a few times, Kyroh gave his head a quick rub and made his way through the actual door. "G'morning Professor!" The first year chimed as if he had not just hit his head so hard that he was seeing stars. "My name's Kyroh Scabior. I'm a first year!" Just so she KNEW you know? Annnd...why was she not smiling? "What's wrong? Do you need a hug?" |
The new girl introduced himself. That Ravenclaw one. Gareth supposed he was considered new too and he surely didn't know this woman with a grumpy face. Then was he supposed to introduce himself too? Meh... He was not going to bother. Nope. Stuffing the last bit of his breakfast sandwich in his mouth, the Slytherin boy wiped his breakfasty hands on his robes and walked in the classroom. Not looking at anyone, he directly made his way towards the desk at the very end, away from anyone else, chewing and enjoying what was left from his sandwich as he walked. He dropped his bag on the desk and plopped himself on the seat. Ice Menagerie? Wut? |
It was about that time again and Cutty snipped no corners when it came to Transfiguration. Don't play. He even cleaned under his fingernails and the robes had been "Good morning, Professor Bellaire." He greeted his Transfiguration Professor before taking his place somewhere without an obstructed view. He wanted to see everything and the first thing he saw related to the class, aside from Bellaire herself were the words: Ice Menagerie Garden. Sounded artistic. |
Transfiguration was always a class that needed extra preparation before hand. It was also rather early in the morning. So after getting breakfast, Benny had made sure he had everything he needed for the lesson before double-checking his appearance to make sure it was as best as he could get it. No trouble was what he wanted and Professor Bellaire was a stickler. Entering the classroom, the Gryffindor took note of the classroom and the location of the woman in question before moving further inside. "Good morning, Professor," he greeted politely yet tentatively seeing her scowl. He then moved to stand beside a free desk, silently hoping her apparent bad mood wasn't going to make class terrible. |
Kevin was rubbing his right eye and tried his best not to yawn at the ridiculous early time they had this lesson. Couldn't all classes be during the day instead of in the morning? At least they would be awake right? He entered the room with a loud yawn and turned his attention towards the Professor who was waiting for the other students to arrive. And she was scowling...of course. "This class should be on another time" he muttered under his breath before looking up at the Professor. "....Hello" he said , giving a TINY smile before he turned around to find a seat. When he found one, the Gryffindor almost sat down but then remembered that they shouldn't so he stepped next to the desk. Looking down, he realised that his uniform wasn't that tidy but who cared? He liked it this way. |
Penelope was not a morning person, but she was able to get out of bed early enough for transfiguration. Waking up early was not something that Penelope liked, but at least transfiguration was on the sixth floor, not too far for the Ravenclaw girl to walk. Uniform wrinkle free and hair braided, Penelope walked into the class. "Good morning, Professor Bellaire. My name is Penelope." Excited for the lesson, Penelope looked at the board. This would be an interesting lesson. |
All Elodie had wanted to do that morning was wait around for an important letter, but seeing as she had a class to attend...she'd had to take a few hours out of her desperate letter waiting day. It was cool, though. She actually liked Transfiguration. Indifferent feelings about the Professor, but..she could deal. "Good morning, Professor Bellaire." She'd have added that the woman looked well, but when she'd said the very same thing to the Headmistress she'd gotten a LOOK. A look that she'd explained to her brother via letter and he'd said that she probably thought she was hinting that she'd had some work done. Had they? Did Professors get work done on their faces? She'd try inspect Bellaire later. She stood behind an empty desk and waited. Ice.. Fitting, given the woman teaching them today. |
Mornings... Why o why had SOMEBDOY thought about giving lessons in the MORNING! Any normal human liked it to sleep longer so WHY were the first classes always staring early in the morning? Pfff... Sonea flipped her hair over her shoulder and stepped into the classroom with her two rats hidden inside her pocket, she always had ignored the school rules so this year there was no difference! No, she had missed it to break some rules while she had been homeschooled! So with a sneaky grin she looked around her, she saw the teacher standing by her desk so, being a good Slytherin she nodded to the professor and faked a friendly smile. "Hello professor" spoke she and than she saw the information on the board and she frowned... She didn't hoped that she needed to work hard now during this lesson, she hated it to work because... because... Working was boring and she didn't wanted to be bored! So, still deep in thought she walked to a empty seat and sat down, waiting for the lesson to start... |
Early on in the day and the professor was already scowling. This is why Beverly sort of liked the woman. She spread firmness with just a look on her face. You know, the world needed strong women like these. Not the loud "Oh my Merlin! I broke a nail!" type. Maybe it had to do with the way she was raised, but looks like that didn't faze Beverly Wayne. "Morning, professor Bellaire," she greeted politely as she walked in, a neutral expression on her face. Her gaze fell on the board. Ice menagerie garden. That...sounded quite interesting. The first thing she thought of was icicle little minions. She'd like some of those. Minions. |
Time for Transfiguration. This class was always interesting. He was interested seeing objects being able to transform into useful objects. As he made his way to the classroom with his backpack bumping behind him, he noticed other students managed to make it here early. He smiled to them and then he turned his head and noticed the Professor was sitting in front of the class. He smiled and nodded towards her, "Good morning Professor, I trust you are well.." he said politely. Once he said his greeting, he managed to find his seat and sat down. He took out his notebook from his bag and was ready to take notes. But in the mean time he doodled in it for fun. |
The early morning class was killing Arielle. She was NOT a morning person, and especially being in a class this early was going to kill her. I mean why would a teacher want to get up this early either? Everybody needs their sleep. So Arielle reluctantly walked into the classroom, dragging her feet and had a dirty look on her face. She sat down in the very back row of seats, not making eye contact with anybody and putting her head down on her desk. She'd get back up when class started, no big deal, right? |
Maddie was SUPER good at reading people, one of her MANY talents, so as SOON as she saw Professor Bellaire's face, she KNEW she was a no-nonsense kind of lady. Maddie's mum was like that TOO so she didn't really mind, just something that was GOOD to know about a person. The first year smoothed her hair and smiled politely at the woman, head tilted to the side. "Hello Professor, I'm Maddie Cooper." YUP. And they didn't do the sitting thing in this class or? The small brunette gave a SMILE to KYROH and then went and STOOD beside a seat cause standing was a THING, apparently. |
Caleb was looking nice and fresh for Transfiguration, not because he always had to look dapper for Bellaire or anything, but because he wasn't a heathen and always looked nice. Just because he was a dude didn't mean he had to look like he had just rolled out of bed or whatever. "Good day, Professor," he said with a small smile. He lifted his hands to his hair and was quite glad that it wasn't QUITE to West and Nigel's hair length just yet. He didn't think he'd be able to get it in a ponytail even if he tried. |
Quote:
Why was everyone standing, though? There was a seat right next to them! Right there! Could they SEE them? ... huh hugs what? "Hi ma'am! My name's Dima Toussaint! I'm a real good hugger too, so if you need TWO hugs, then I'm your guy! Or your second guy!" 'Cause Kyroh was the first one, and his hugs were probably so good they COUNTED as two of them anyway! Yeah! |
Arista skipped to the Transfiguration class. She was excited, just like the other classes. She had managed to wake up in a good mood today, even though she was not a morning person. She had to literally roll out of bed too! So it was surprising that she was even in a skipping mood. She was put in order, not because she had read the rules but because lady's were always in order and never had a hair out of place! So with her appearance in order she entered the classroom. Stopping her skipping because that was not how lady's entered the room..Or that's what her mum said. "Good morning, Professor." she greeted. Oh look she looked upset, "I am Arista Royal. The first year added with a curtsy, because again lady's did that! Hearing the other kids talking, "Oh you want hugs??!! I am great at hugs too! She smiled a big grin towards the Professor! |
Zander quickly walked into the Transfiguration classroom. He was a little bit frazzled and his hair was EVERYWHERE. This was his third year at Hogwarts, and he STILL got lost on his way to classes. How pitiful was he? As he walked by Professor Bellaire he tried his best to fix his hair, but the same couldn't be said about his pink face. " 'mornin Professor," He managed to say in between breathes. It was going to be a long day. But why is she scowling? What's wrong? Was she upset about Quidditch too? |
The only subject Sophie did not have a liking for just had to be the class of the one professor she also did not have a liking for. The thought of walking into the transfiguration classroom and seeing the always-moody Bellaire was less than thrilling, but she couldn't get better at the subject if she didn't go, right? ...Well. Not necessarily. But her grades were on the line, and she had a lot of people to prove herself to, so there she was, brushing a single scuff off her shoes to make them shine, smoothing every wrinkle out of her clothes, and brushing every piece of lint or hair off her clothes before she reached the classroom door. She was going to look as aaaabsolutely perfect and spotless as possible - she'd never given Bellaire a reason to single her out as prey and she wasn't going to start now. Too risky. She might end up dead. Entering the classroom when she was certain she was a model student of cleanliness, Sophie put on a smile as she made eye contact with the professor. "Good morning, professor," the third year gave the slightest of curtsies - was there such a thing as too polite? - and she found a spot near Tobes, but she did not sit. No, no. Never sitting. ...Who was going to save that poor young Slytherin at the back of the classroom who didn't seem to know better yet, though? And Kace? And... were those kids really going to hug Bellaire? Poor things. |

"I tried ma'am... there isn't enough to tuck." West said politely enough. Quote:
---- And Ves was here now... and standing next to him... and Bellaire wasn't saying anything about it so neither would West. Ahem. He kept his mouth shut on that matter. |

"Morning Professor." He said in greeting as he found a place to stand. Right next to the guy who'd had a slight disagreement with Zahra in the common room. |
Gwen really had been very over excited by everything at Hogwarts. As a result she had a hard time sleeping. It took its toll in due time but she really did not want to miss any classes regardless. So she trudged out of bed, put on her robes, and headed straight for the transfiguration classroom stumbling around a bit before finally finding it. She entered the classroom and yawned as she took her place amongst the other students not even noticing the professors scowl. |
She was not late? Whew, she slowed down to a walk as she got closer to the classroom. AJ had heard rumors about this particular professor so she made sure that she looked nice and neat. Yup, she looked about as put together as a tomboy could. As she walked into the classroom she smiled at the professor. Geeze, she did not look happy. "Good Morning professor. My name is Aubrey Valentine. It's nice to meet you." The first year noticed a few familiar faces, and decided to go next to Adi because frankly she figured he needed her more than the others with everything going on. Seeing that everybody was still standing she decided to do the same. It was most likely something that the professor wanted them to do and she did not want to cross her this early in the morning. She looked like she may eat students for breakfast. |
Transfiguration. Why did Benjy take this subject again? Probably because he coasted along in it just fine. Actually, he seemed to manage to do that in a lot of subjects - but none of them had a Professor like Bellaire. Yes, he respected her, but it didn't mean to say he liked her. Regardless, Benjy straightened himself up outside the classroom, as seemed to be the norm nowadays. Everyone having a sneaky brush of their hair, or final lint rolling of their robes. In Benjy's case, it involved there was no stray food from breakfast, and checking that the polishing charm he'd used on his shoes had lasted it to the lesson. So far, so good. Shirt was tucked in, robes were neat, and he'd even taken his fang earring out. Happy, he headed into the classroom, and greeted the Professor with a smile. "Good morning," he said cheerily, as he walked past the front desk and stood the other side of Vesper. Good morning indeed. |
So I had individual posts typed up for everyone then chrome crashed. Sorry SPOILER!!: replies Professor Bellaire checked her watch, then pointed her wand at the door which slammed shut. It was locked so whoever was late, had to stay out. ooc: As of this point, class has started and anyone who posts arriving will lose points. Happy RPing :) "Class is now officially in session. For the reaminder of the school year we will be working on a project. Every lesson will be dedicated to the completion of said project. But before I begin let me take the time out to remind everyone present that this is my classroom. The classroom of Professor Jane Wright-Bellaire and every rule I set in this classroom is meant to be followed or will be followed because I will not hesistate to through any rule breaker into detention or out of my class. And I care zero, who your parents are. Hope that is clear." She eyed the entire class before moving on. "Today we'll be replicating snow clouds. To achieve this we will be using the Weather-Modifying Charms. Now the weather modifying charms are a group of charms that are used to affect the weather in an area." As she spoke the words started appearing on the board behind her. And yes she expected them to take those notes down before leaving the classroom. "However, as this is not charms class and due to the fact that these charms are highly regulated, I will be casting the first weather changing charm to set the ground work for the rest of you..." In other words she would be making their lives a whole lot easier and reducing the rest of someone seriously messing this up. "Are there any questions before we proceed any further with this lesson?" |
EEP! It seemed like the rumors she heard about this professor were true. Replicating snow clouds sounded like good fun, but it sounded like it would be difficult wand work and she was still rusty with all that. Then, the professor stated that she would be the one casting the charm and that definitely worked for her. Questions? Yes, she did have one actually. She raised her hand. Professor, may I sit down to take notes?" She needed to do that right? It seemed like everybody was still standing and she didn't want to be in detention over sitting down. That just seemed like a waste of energy. |
Whoa! Jasmine was a little taken aback So they would be working on a term-long project. Jasmine's interest was piqued. She begn to take notes, adding the important details to her notebook. Any questions? Nope, none so far. Well, maybe one......but she was a little afraid to ask it. |
This Professor really was stern, wasn't she? Out of all the things he had been told about the school, why was it that nobody had bothered to tell him this?! Oh jeez. They were going to be replicating SNOW CLOUDS? THAT was their year long project? Grayson scowled a little as he looked up at the ceiling, trying to imagine snow clouds appearing there. This was just plain WEIRD. And what was an ice menagerie? Because this fourth year had thought they'd be sculpting ice into different animals but if they were going to be replicating snow clouds, he couldn't see where the menagerie part came in. There were ups and downs to this, of course. This was a weather modifying charm and weather was a BORING topic. Like something you talked about when you didn't know what to talk about. The ups included snowball fights if they managed to make it snow so much. Something told them that snowball fights weren't going to be taking place here, which was another down-side. Shame. Questions? He cast a furtive glance around the room before looking back at the Professor and shaking his head. No questions. Maybe if they'd have to write out their findings in an essay but he didn't want her to see the look of horror on his face if she said yes. Though that tiny person had asked a good one. Could they sit down? |
Angel wanted to tale notes but where they allowed to sit, she had no idea and it seemed like everyone had been given seats and she was new so she didn't have a seat, now she had no idea what to do, she was glad when her sister asked the question that had been on her mind, she was glad her sister had an identical brain to her. |
That thing where Benjy wondered why he came to Transfiguration? It wasn't getting any better. Mainly because he didn't understand why they needed to replicate clouds. They were in Scotland, in winter. You only had to look out of the window to see plenty of the things. And sure, most of them were rainclouds, but snow was plentiful too at this time of year. Why not somehow lasso them down, and make it less rainy outside so he could go skateboarding more? Skateboarding in the rain was no fun at all. Also, he was pretty sure she'd said charm. Weird. Anyway. Questions. Yes, Benjy had one. "Sorry, Professor," he asked politely, "but who is Professor Wright-Bellaire that you mentioned? Are we going to have a visiting Professor as well this term?" He just wanted to be in the know with these things. Yup. Also, why did West and Nigel have their hair up like that? It looked odd. |
Well, if Professor Bellaire was more worried about the hair of her bandmates, Vesper would take it. Anyway, the fact that the woman had mentioned the band at all pleased the 'Claw...though, she had fudged their name. Honest mistake, surely. Of course, when Benjy made an appearance...and decided to sit right beside her, she sought out the professor's face again. Ves had to remind herself that Bellaire most likely knew nothing, which was best, and that all was well. And.....she hadn't even considered if this could be weird or awkward for herself....and it probably would've been had she been given the time to properly think it over... ...but class was starting. ...Were the able to sit yet? And no, she had no questions. Snow clouds were snow clouds...and given that she had zero confidence in Transfiguration spells, this whole thing would most likely be embarrassing. "No, ma'am."...because the question warranted a reply...or something. |
Adi smiled slightly at AJ as she stood at the desk next to his. She didn't have to sit next to him but he figured she didn't want him to feel alone. The third year turned his attention to Professor Bellaire. It was no surprise to him when she started off speaking. The lady stood for no nonsense. He bet the first years and the other new students got the shock of their lives though. Adi listened to what they would be doing today. Cool! Replicating Snow clouds! More cold stuff! Awesome. He couldn't wait to get started. As for questions? He had none. |
Okay, now THIS was completely ridiculous. Sophie would be respectful because her parents taught her to be, but so far this class had been nothing but pure disrespect from the professor herself. She was just a tad uptight about things, which had Sophie fuming on the inside. How was it appropriate to take twenty points from Slytherin for people sitting down?! But again...Sophie would be respectful because she was taught to be. She took a small breath and cleared her mind so as to focus on the lesson and not how she felt about the beginning of class. The professor started discussing the actual lesson then, so Sophie adjusted her quill and parchment and began taking notes. Questions? Nope. None about the lesson, at least. |
Norah's eyes widened as she watched Professor Bellaire dock points from student after student. She felt her shoulders slump a little in disappointment before the crash of the door slamming sent her jumping back to attention. When a first year she didn't recognize spoke, asking if they could sit down, Norah stopped herself from beaming at her, because if hugs weren't allowed in here then rallying against the professor probably wouldn't be a good idea. That was a brave thing to do, that's for sure. She saw the girl was wearing Gryffindor robes and nodded approvingly. That sorting hat really did know it's stuff, yep. Could they sit down, though? She had a killer itch on her foot and she didn't want to draw attention to herself by bending over to scratch it. That didn't seem very ladylike, anyway. |
Not that she wasn't excited to be here...and not that she wasn't completely willing to work--nor complaining, that definitely wasn't happening either...it was just....why did Professor Bellaire insist on having classes so early in the morning? Her brain didn't come into itself until sometime around 10. That being said, the tired look of the Gryffindor was expected. Knowing she'd have Bellaire first thing today, she'd made an attempt to sleep early but that failed and now as she listened to the Professor she found half the words going through one ear and coming through the next. Luckily she grasped something about a class project and something about the weather. Kinda funny how she'd taught them that weather protection charm back in her first year and now she was teaching them how to change weather. Er...that is...if that's what they were doing. Oh merlin she needed to pay attention!! Lex managed to snap back to attention at the all for questions at which point she gave a brief shake of her head and a "No Ma'am." No question. You'd actually have been paying attention to be able to ask those. Maybe next time. |
Removing his Transfiguration book, a few sheets of parchment and a quill. On the sheet he wrote: Ice Menagerie Garden, Transfiguration 2083-2084. The highly regulated Weather-Modifying charms may be used for the purposes of replicating snow clouds. Follow up on any other uses of charms and transfiguration. Weather charms, though. Those were interesting. You could literally rain on someone's parade with one of those. Cutty put his quill down and paid close attention. |

Lucy took notes about the Professor's words and said:" Excuse me Professor..because you have spoken of the first weather changing charm may I ask you how many weather changing charms there are?" |
Candice was surprised at the amount of points Professor Bellaire took from the students. This Transfiguration Professor was really scary. And that opening statement made her even more scary if that was possible. Snow Clouds? That sounds awesome. She LOVED snow. The first year definitely gonna enjoy this lesson despite how scary Professor Bellaire was. Weather-Modifying Charms? That didn't sound easy. Questions? "No, ma'am." |
Josie practically felt her heart jump from the moment Professor Bellaire had deducted three point from her house for her sitting without her permission. Drats. Quickly collecting her things she'd arisen without any hesitation. She bowed her head a little bit as she softly said, "I-I'm very sorry P-Professor.." …. Class had begun & from what she'd said they were going to be replicating snow clouds. Hm, well it certainly did kind of her remind her of a Charms lesson a little bit, BUT SHE DEFINITELY WASN'T COMPLAINING PROFESSOR NOT IN THE SLIGHEST, HONEST! It would be interesting how she was going to teach them all of that, since it was going to be a project they'd be focusing on all term. But when asked, Josie didn't have any questions to ask her, so she quickly shook her head before replying to the scary lady's opening statement, "N-No, ma'am.." |
Well it’s a good thing that Ethan’s a morning person, therefore he didn’t need to worry about yawning and looking tired in the morning. He did hear stuff about this professor—stuff that included being extra neat and all that. Since he’s a new student, he had to take all the ‘warnings’ seriously, because he wanted to leave a good impression. Ethan observed on how true these rumors are. The Slytherin mentally nodded as he witnessed first-hand as to how true things were. And…points? Really...what’s the score for actually? The third year quietly continued his observation and shook his head when asked if he had any questions. “No ma’am.” Scary woman is scary. |
Five points from Gryffindor!? But class hadn't even technically started yet!? What has her knickers in a twist. This is an outrage! All the boy even did was yawn. Okay yes it was a little rude, but five points?? REALLY? Was that necessary. Zander looked over to his fellow lion that had lost points and gave him a shrug to let him know that it wasn't a huge deal. It wasn't even anything he had really done wrong. This professor was just not having any of it today. But hey, at least Slytherin lost WAY more points! Every rule must be followed blah blah blah. Why was she even so strict. She's joining the ranks of Culloden. Weather-Modifying Charms? Shouldn't they be learning this in.... Well, charms? But snow clouds shouldn't be toooo bad. Hopefully... Ah yes, charms. HA, he was right! Any questions? Nope. He was actually kind of scared to say anything at this point. Didn't want to lose any house points. Especially after she had shown her ruthlessness earlier. So nope no questions for Zander. Instead of speaking up the young boy just shook his head. |
Desiree stood near the front, but not too near- a nice middle ground. Hopefully the perfect position to view the Professor demonstrating her weather charm- though this wasn't charms class she supposed charms could transfigure things just as well as any spell. And the thought of creating snow clouds sounded thrilling, challenging, but thrilling. Professor Bellaire seemed a bit 'chilly' herself- but, perhaps just a side effect of practicing those cold weather charms. Yes, that was probably it. She didn't have any questions, and really didn't think the Professor was expecting or wanting a reply so she shook her head slightly and waited. |
Marigold bit her lip as inconspicuously as possible. She really enjoyed this class, but she wished she wasn't petrified of Bellaire. She had hoped maybe being older |
They were going to make clouds? Check. Cris quickly wrote that down in his journal while still standing. Was she going to let them sit anytime soon? Cris wondered to himself although that was one question he wasn't going to ask. So any questions? Cris quickly shook his head to indicate he had none for now. |
WELL. Maddie watched as points were taken away even before the lesson had officially started and made a mental note to NEVER EVER get on this woman's bad side. And the small brunette had thought CULLODEN might be tough, heh. She'd need to devise a scale and rate the professors so her, Dima, and Kyroh could reference it before making decisions because they clearly had to be careful with SOME, UH-HUH! As for weather stuff, Maddie raised her eyebrows slightly at the mention of being able to replicate snow clouds. That was interesting and sounded like hard work but she was CLEARLY willing to learn. Also, no questions here. The small brunette shook her head and stood still, waiting for things to get going. |
Bla bla bla… That was what the now fifth year heard while the teacher was speaking, it was just… Not interesting… It was boring! So, she didn’t really listened to what she was saying, this lesson wasn’t her favorite lesson so she wasn’t missing much information, and besides... What wanted this teacher do to get this lesson interesting? She remembered from all her lessons that this was one of her most boring lessons so she didn’t believed that this term would be a difference… And now that she looked at the professor she decided that the professor was not in a good mood because why else would she start her lesson like this? She stared around her, wondering why a lot students here seemed to like what the professor was telling and she waited for something less boring to happen, she had no questions and she didn’t wanted to look smart, like a stupid nerd! Nooooo way! She would wait until the teacher was going to do something! |
What on earth was wrong with this Professor?! Shocked when she was first told off for saying hello (o_O) the incredulousness she felt only grew with each interaction. Points loss for sitting down? Really? Looking back on it, was she this mean last term? All that Lux could really remember was the lady liked rules and was strict. Now mean could be added to the mix. The project did sound rather interesting, and she had heard about term projects. So this one might be fun, she supposed. Furiously, she started taking notes. And no, she didn't have any questions. Best not risk saying something that would displease the Professor, because she seemed so grumpy. |
Sophie watched as, one by one, all the people who hadn't followed directions were reprimanded in their own ways. She was quite relieved when Bellaire spared the cuties who offered hugs, but she shot a remorseful sort of look to Kace. To be fair, he should have known better. Ah, well. At least Ravenclaw had gotten off easy. Replicating snow clouds? That sounded pretty cool. She wasn't sure how they could use this in the future, but maybe that was why this subject went over her head. She just didn't get it sometimes. She let the small, content sort of smile stay on her face, though, that had been there since she greeted Bellaire, and had no questions. Well, she did, but she wasn't going to ask. No. Best to stay quiet and not draw attention to herself. |
Well seemed like even not talking earned you negative points. No win situation here. But at least Nigel got off lightly so far. Only his hair was suffering. His poor hair. Now that all that business was over with and Nigel determined at to say anything for the remainder of the class. The topic was very interesting. Weather-Modifying Charms were some serious magic, like Bellaire said. Questions, Nigel did not have any at the moment. Only thing he wanted to know was how this related to Transfig spells and that Nigel assumed is what she would explain next. So he was good |
Slytherin lost points. And THAT boy had to do with it. Something had to be done about this. SOMETHING. She would make SURE he got those points back. He HAD to. Beverly Wayne was incredibly stingy when it came to house points and UGH. She wanted the House Cup. Unfortunately she couldn't do anything about it right now or risk losing more points, so she just settled for jotting down notes. Glancing up, she shook her head to let professor Bellaire know she didn't have any questions. Nope. None at the moment. |

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! No hugs?? Who didn't want hugs? Arista was appalled, her hugs were the best. She whispered, "Yes ma'am, just let me know if you change your mind." Just as she had claimed her spot she saw the Professor go nuts.... Points being taken away right and left... Her eyes widened. Note to self do not cross Professor Bellaire. She crazy!!! Replicating snow clouds! That was so cool!! Oh yeah snow!! She loved snow! But how was this Transfiguration? She reached into her bag and lifted her leg up a bit trying to write down the notes. They were not the best notes but they would do she could re-write them down later. "So how is this charm transfiguration, is it because it is creating it..." She didn't no the difference between stuff so Professor would have to tell her! |
Bree's eyes shot open as the professor slammed the door shut and took charge of her class. Bree felt a chill down her spine as the professor explained rules forcefully. It awakened her instantly. She listened as the professor explained they would be doing spells to create weather and if they had any questions. Bree thought for a moment and then raised her hand, "What kind of weather will we be making and are you gonna zap the proper garb on us for different weather conditions, if so warn a gal, it felt strange the last time a professor did it". |
No hugs? Not even one? Not ever? ...... Zero hugs? Kyroh understood the words sure but.... why? The claw wasn't about to ask though. Some adults were no questions, no hug type people like his grandfather. And so was Professor Bellaire clearly. Running over to a spot in the classroom, Kyroh stood up straight and pulled out a piece of parchment and a self inking quill. Even with the quill, writing while standing up wasn't exactly easy. And sure his parchment had some holes it in, but Kyroh had got the basics. Snow Cloud. Weather-Modifying Charms. Year long project. Questions!? His hand shot in the air of course. "How long do these charms last Miss Professor? Also, how do we know they'll be snow clouds and not rain clouds since it not that cold in here?" Kyroh knew zero about Transfiguration but if it used Charms.....he still knew zero about Charms so that didn't help too much. All he knew was that he did not want to be rained on. |
Kace was interested in this lesson now. But apparently this was gonna be a year long project. How much were they gonna do that it needed to be a year long project? But they were going to make snow clouds. He was liking this. The professor was gonna put a charm on the clouds and he wondered how that would work since it wasn't exactly cold in here and it wasn't exactly cold outside. But the ravenclaw before him asked the question he thought about and he didn't wanna repeat it. All the students needed to use Weather Modifying Charms and that should be cool. He just waited there quietly figuring out this lesson was gonna play out. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Leah watched some serious point-takings from Professor Bellaire before the professor slammed the door shut. And what was wrong with those firsties? Seriously. Remember to say good morning, don't sit down, etc. That was a lot to remember. Hmm. Since when was the professor's name Professor Wright-Bellaire? Though curious, Leah did not ask out loud. Ahem. A term project. Woo-hoo! It would be fun, if studying was ever fun for Leah. Still, she listened, and did something that she had never done before. Taking notes. The second year grabbed her quill and journal from her desk and squinted up at the board, jotting down a few notes, still standing. Quote:

Alright! Transfiguration! This was a class Tora was good at, however intimidating Professor Bellaire might be. She made sure to remain standing, because Bellaire had not said to sit yet, and concentrated on the lesson at hand. Replicating snow-clouds sounded fun, but Tora didn't really get how they counted as Transfiguration. As the professor had already said, it was a weather charm that did that. Considering who the professor was, Tora knew she would find out soon enough and so didn't raise her hand when the Professor asked for questions. She didn't have any...right? |
Bay didn't have any questions, he'd rather figure things out for himself then get yelled at by the Professor. What was going on with her right now? she wasn't like this last year? He thought it was best not to make eye contact and he made the notes that were on the board as well as any questions the students were asking. |
Toby completely missed being eyed by Bellaire, as focused as he was on trying to keep his fidgeting to a minimum. Sophie got a little smile when she wandered over, but didnt dare to try and say anything because of Bellaire's infamous zero tolerance for, like, anything. When stuff appeared on the board, Toby hurriedly rummaged through his bag for some parchment and a self-inking quill (he'd not been expecting to need to make notes with no desks, you see). When he'd found them, Toby began the process of trying to take notes from the information on the board whilst using his own knee as a sort of makeshift desk. Questions? Nope. Not right now. |

Professor Sophia Jane Bellaire nee Wright. You'd think the students would know the names of their professors. "Does that answer your question Mr. Barton?" Quote:

----------------------------------- "Now class. Who can quickly explain the difference between charms and transfiguration?" She tapped her wand and raised it. "In the meantime I will perform the atmospheric spell to prep the room." Sophia pointed her wand to all four corners of the room and pretty soon there was a change in temperature. "Now it's about to get a little chilly in here so I hope you all brought or wore your gloves as instructed." She eyed the lot of them. "You will all receive a small Cumulus, which you are expected to transfigure into Cumulonimbus looking clouds." Another wave of her wands, saw clouds erupting from her wand tips and assigning themselves to each student." Because she wanted to be sure everyone was on the same page she asked the dreaded question. "Does everyone understand? Is everyone clear on what I am asking you to do?" |
Angel smiled at the Professor, thought she was fuming when could they sit down, surely there was something in the Geneva convention that stopped this form of torture many years ago, she would have to look it up and see because her little legs were hurting with all the standing they were doing but she daren't say anything because she didn't want to lose points. Angel raised her hand. "Professor, charms you are adding things to the thing you are aiming at whilst in Transfiguration you are totally changing one thing into a new thing I think." Angel hoped she was right but now she wasn't so sure, it was all the pressure the Professor was putting on her, she was getting ready to break down into tears, what did the professor think, they were training for a game show and she desperately wanted to win. |
O.O If she thought that AJ was going to know anymore about this lesson once it was over, then she was sadly mistaken. Really she just wanted to sit down, and she was willing to jot down notes for that, but nope. She was pretty sure that the professor needed a marshmallow peep because she was cranky and from experience food normally put the first year in a better mood. Ummm... she didn't know the difference considering this was her first ever Transfiguration lesson and she had never been to Charms. Deciding that she would rather not hazard a guess with this professor she remained quiet. Did she understand? Not at all. "Errr... what's a Cumulus professor?" She was going to need help in this class, she could feel it. |
Ethan shifted his weight from one foot to another as he pondered on the question. The difference between Charms and Transfiguration. Well, he did observe the two discipline’s difference, and he hopes it’s the answer to Bellaire’s question. Hand up. “Professor, I think Charms would make a certain object or being to behave in a certain way. Whereas in Transfiguration, one completely transforms an object to an entirely different thing.” That’s why it’s called Transfiguration, right? The Slytherin watched as the professor pointed her wand on the four corners of the room and made the air more cold. He fished his gloves out of his satchel and donned them…not that he’s not used to the weather, but something tells him he will be needing his hands warm to survive this class. Ethan then watched as a cloud hovered over him. It looked friendly…but he got the feeling that things will get messy in a bit. |

Cutty gave a small nod. They were to transfigure the cumulus cloud into cumulonimbus. Sounded deceptively simple to Cutty. His hand went up as the Professor asked her question of the class, "The difference between charms and transfiguration lies mostly in the fact that with transfiguration you are altering some afore present state of something. That is, on a physical level, you're pulling something into existence, or taking it out of existence, by changing what it's made of in some way. This is in contrast to Charms, which do not alter what something is, although they may alter what something does." And Cutty knew which one sounded most useful to him. The Slytherin twisted uncomfortably in his seat, immediately starting to feel the drop in temperature. Yeah, gloves. He had them in his bag. Should probably get them out now. |
Grayson's current train of thought in regards to this lesson: ..................... whaat?????????? ............ Jeez, this was a headache-worthy subject. He could answer the question soooo the hand went up in the air. "I know that Charms makes an object do something it wouldn't normally do but you're not really changing its appearance or anything. Like you're not changing the object, say a watch, into a dragon. That's Transfiguration." Which. OKAY. He wouldn't be against learning. How to change something into a dragon. JUST SAYING. Cumulus? Come again? Cumulonimbus looking clouds. Oh jeez. Oh NO. You know what this meant? They had to know the names of the different types of freaking clouds. That's what the fourth year was going to take from this, anyways. It was pretty cool that she had conjured clouds from her wand but they were just clouds. To Grayson, clouds weren't the most interesting of things. They were fluffy and made of water and sometimes, when too much water was in them, they rained. Or snowed. There wasn't much to know and he didn't care much about them. Scowling, he pulled out his gloves from his bag and strapped them on before looking up again. Oh look! He had a cloud. He was a character from a cartoon where they had their own ominous cloud following them around everywhere. Here's hoping he wouldn't be followed by this little bugger today. How creepy would it be if he was trying to take a tinkle and there was a cloud looming above his head? Creepy. And he understood, or tried to understand, what the Professor was saying so Grayson nodded over at her. |
Adi raised his hand before speaking. "A Charm is something that we use to make objects do something it would not usually do but with Transfiguration, we alter the entire or partial appearance of the object.'' The third year watched as Bellaire did her thing. He had retrieved his gloves form his pockets and had already pulled them on. More cold! Yep, he was a huge fan of the cold. He watched in fascination as a Cumulus cloud drifted towards each student. This was going to be cool! Adi understood what they had to do so he nodded. |
Hayden watched as a cloud materialized itself from the professor's wand and stopped in front of her. Woah. Would she be able to do that? How advanced were these weather charms? She decided against asking the professor, who sort of scared her, and decided she'd have to look it up for herself later. Cumulowhatsit? She figured they were types of clouds, that made sense considering the context. The cumulus must be what the cloud in front of her started as, but how was she supposed to transfigure it if she didn't know what the other type looked like. She was about to ask when a young Gryffindor beat her to it. Good, she could just stay silent and listen. She didn't know the difference between charms and transfiguration either, she was just a first year how could she be expected to know that? |
Zander took some quick notes as his Professor answered a couple questions. He could already tell that this was going to be an excruciatingly long lesson. Never was a real fan of transfiguration to begin with... Why was she so focused charms. Couldn't they just talk all about Transfiguration and that mumbo jumbo? Why'd they have to bring Charms into things. That makes it soooo confuuuusing. Hmphhhhh. "Transfiguration is generally considered more difficult than Charms," which made it much more complicated and not very fun. But he left that bit out. Didn't need any more house points taken away in this lesson. Brrrrrr it's starting to get cold in here. Zander quickly grabbed his jumper and layered it on top of his shirt. Now what is a cumulus exactly? Oh. Was it this little cloud? But uhhhhhh...... What is a Cumulonimbus? It's a really big word, that much is clear. "Uh, Professor, what exactly is a cumum-ulion-onim-bus-es-s?" He tried. Ugh. He must sound like such a firstie. But someone's got to ask. That other lion had already asked about the Cumulus. Zander had just figured it was the clouds that had erupted from her wand. But what was this cumulonimbus thing was the real question. Cumulon-nimbus. Like the nimbus brooms? Or...? |
So they were going to do a term-long project, like the similar one they had done last term for herbology. Or at least that was what he was thinking of in comparison. That could be cool if it had that creative outcome like the self-made topiaries that had come out of Bentley's class. However as the third year noticed the newcomers of the class such as Angel and Aubrey deal with the stricter sides of transfiguration, that thought went right out the window. The coolness would only reply to the temperature. The room growing colder by the moment as Professor Bellaire took control of the situation and Ben was glad for the mentioned gloves as he slipped them on. It was then that he saw the clouds in the classroom, one in particular floating towards him and him alone. Okay...maybe that was interesting...as long as it didn't rain on him. |
The room got chilly as Professor Bellaire begin to change the weather and create clouds for each student. Jasmine was fascinated by this and watched the process with wide eyes. When the Professor asked for the difference between Charms and Transfiguration, she was almost afraid to raise her hand. She did it anyway, hoping that she could make her answer sound coherent. "Charms make an object do something or cause something to happen to it. Transfiguration changes the appearance of an object.......changing one thing to another." Having given her answer, Jasmine was looking forward to transfiguring her cloud. |
Quote:
Professor, may I ask you if the cumulonimbus clouds are the clouds that bring rain?" |
Another teacher calling him Mr. Scabior. Sigh. Though Professor Bellaire did make sense. Kyroh quickly wrote down her explanation in jot notes, poking more holes in his parchment. And THEN she was calling him Kyroh so it was all good! Did he know the difference between charms and transfiguration? Nope. Could he guess? YUP. "Charms...is like spells that do stuff. And transfiguration....changes stuff?" Yeah? Transfiguration. To transfigure. To change. If THAT was wrong then Kyroh had no clue and he was alright with that because he was only guessing after all. Gloves? Uhoh. He knew he had forgotten something. It was to early to remember everything! He'd be alright! He would! Scottish blood and all that. The claw shook his head just slightly.
