Cris made his way down to Greenhouse Eight, feeling a lot better after a good night's sleep. Wrapping his robes closer around him, he blew into his hands to warm them up. Had it gotten chilly overnight or was he coming down with a cold? Cris hoped it was the former and not the latter. The moment he sighted Professor Bentley, he smiled and made his way down to her. "Hello Professor Bentley. It's good to see you again," he smiled in greeting as he got closer to her. Looking around he realized he was the first student here. Not knowing what to do, he just stood there waiting with the Professor occasionally glancing over at her before glancing away. Should he make small talk while they waited? |
Dragon hide gloves, check. Comfortable shoes. Check. Notebook and stuff. Check. Common sense, maybe? A smile? O he’s got that one! Ethan—who miraculously didn’t get lost that morning, made his way towards Greenhouse Eight wearing his signature goofy smile and greeted the people who was already there. “Grrrrrreetings, my friends!” The young Slytherin deadpanned as he saw that it was just the professor and an older student. Was he early? Again? Maybe he should try to be late…just to make things interesting. Ethan shook his head and smiled again as he took his position behind the older boy. “Good day, Professor Bentley! I’m EthanTylerMordaunt. New kid.” Haaaaaai! The young Slytherin turned his attention to the older boy. “Hola!” Waaaves for you, young sir! |
Bay was very excited for this class as he made his way to Herbology seeing his breath a little bit. Knowing it was a bit chilly he had brought Professor Bentley some tea in a container that had a little cup attached to it. "she can always drink it later" this container was magically charmed to keep anything hot for long periods of time. "Hello Professor Bentley" he said as he held out the container "I brought you some hot tea" giving her a smile he was glad that he had brought himself a sweater it was indeed a bit chilly, he put his hands in his pockets to warm them up a little bit. |
The one lesson Angel had been looking forwards to was finally here, when she heard about the fact that wizards like gardening just as much as she did it made it easier for her to come though she still missed her garden at home. "Hello Professor Bentley." Angel gave a small smile to the professor. |
"Professor Bentley." Cutty, now thirteen years old, greeted his Herbology Professor as he entered the Greenhouse where the day's lesson was to take place. He had come to think he had an understanding of Professor Bentley--he didn't. Also, Herbology--he didn't. Although, certain aspects of it were gaining improvement in spite of, or actually DUE to these misconceptions of his. He resumed a seat like normal, feeling at peace but not at all looking it. In fact, he looked almost stern. His leave me 'lone face. |
There was definitely a chill in the air as Jasmine made her way to Herbology class. She didn't mind it though because it helped her feel more awake. Arriving in the greenhouse area, she spotted Professor Bentley and headed in her direction. "Good morning Professor. My name is Jasmine Guidry. I'm new to Hogwarts and I'm looking forward to my first class with you.". Seeing that Cris and Bay had already arrived, Jasmine gave them both a wave. She was feeling especially cheerful this morning and hoped that her good mood would last throughout the day. She wondered what kind of activity the Professor had planned for them today. |
Lucy was excited for her first lesson of Herbology.. She entered in the Greenhouse Eight and she saw Professor Bentley. Lucy made her way towards her and she said with a smile:"Goodmorning Professor Bentley.I'm Lucy Petersfield. This is my first year here!". |
Herbology Another one of the enjoyable classes in his mind and last term's year round topiary project had been fun. His dragon had been returned to his dorm with him since he hadn't liked the idea of it being at home and not cared for. It was almost like having another pet and Conrad couldn't pay it much mind by being jealous. Making his way down to the greenhouses, it was a little chilly. It seemed autumn was starting to cool and move further away from its warmer predecessor. Boo. Brushing it aside for now, needing to focus on the class, he acknowledged the woman standing there at the entrance outside. "Good morning, Professor Bentley." |
Mackenzie shivered as she made her way to the greenhouse. She had double checked to make sure that she had everything, but she wished she would have worn a thicker sweater. mental note: start wearing winter clothing A grin spread across the blonde lions face as she found other students already there and seemingly as excited as she was about this lesson. She didn't see anyone yet that she knew but she would wait who knew maybe she could make a friend this term. |
Finally, cold weather was here. Jun didn't mind, unless there were lessons outside for a while during said time. He pulled his beanie down lower to his ears and made his way towards the greenhouses. Humming to himself, he pulled his sweater sleeves down to cover his hands and slid them into his pockets. Maybe he should've worn a thicker one or a long sleeve shirt underneath. But Jun just grabbed the closest shirt he could find in his trunk and headed out the door. And good thing his bag wasn't too heavy today either. It would just keep rising his sweater up from his hip and make him colder. Reaching the greenhouses, the boy noticed that there weren't many students here yet. Good, he'll probably get a good spot. Even if he was taller than most of them anyway "Hello Professor," He greeted his herbology prof and joined the other students. Let's hope they were working inside today. |
Was it typically this cold in Europe around this time? Bryant marched down to his first herbology lesson, pulling his robes tighter around himself to try and warm up. He even considered putting his dragonhide gloves on to keep his hands warm. He gave a little shiver as he came up beside the rest of the group for class, giving the professor a nod. "Hello, professor. My name's Bryant." Pleasantries aside now, he stood off to the side of the main group, watching and waiting. Herbology... one of two classes where it was socially acceptable to be around dung... definitely not his favorite class. |
Another day, another lesson. This one was Herbology though, which was a plus - mainly because it involved being outside. Joining the group forming outside the greenhouse, Benjy shoved his hands in his pockets. They'd better all be standing out here for a reason, and not just being sheep behind some firstie too nervous to go inside. |
Heeeerbology. Right. She should get on that. What with the whole... life plan... situation. Derry walked down to the greenhouses, adjusting her gloves as she walked. Autumn in Scotland wasn't a forgiving season, but she was used to it. She caught sight of Professor Bentley and made her way a little closer, offering a quick wave and a "Mornin' Professor." By way of greeting... |
Marigold had layered up her jumpers and sweaters, so she wasn't freezing, but the temperature outside wasn't so good for her cold. She sneezed, then brought a tissue out from her pocket and blew her nose. "Hi, Professor," she said through a stuffy nose. Hopefully they would go inside soon? |
Extremely grateful for the sweater and very thick socks she was wearing, Kate still shivered a little bit. Just standing outside the greenhouse didn't seem very productive…plus it let them get cold. Should they be doing something to learn about plants? Ooh! Maybe they'd get to go inside the greenhouse. Rubbing her arms, Kate pulled a smile to her face. She could be patient. They had met at a greenhouse, so…maybe the professor just wanted to wait for everyone to get there before letting them inside. Of course, that seemed to punish the people who got there early and reward the late people, but Kate wasn't about to complain. She'd just come a little later next time. |
He still hadn't been able to get rid of the writing on his forehead no matter what he tried and the Gryffindor came to the conclusion that it would hopefully be gone after that duel. So for now he had to walk around with it which made him a bit grumpy as he walked towards the greenhouses. Seeing the Professor and the rest of his classmates in front of the building, he ignored his fellow students. Didn't even made eye contact with then. The Professor though did get a greeting. She is his Head of House after all and after last year he knew he should play it safe around her. "Hello..." now, could they get inside? It was cold! |
hi benjy :3 Herbology. Maddie didn't get what the big WHOOP was about plants but she WAS sort of interested in the more dangerous ones. She'd read that some even had FANGS and THAT was WICKED. And so after making sure that she had everything she needed for the lesson, Maddie made her way down to the greenhouses. Noting that a group was forming, the small brunette navigated her way around students until she could see the professor properly. Short person here, yeah? She deserved a good spot. "Hello Professor." The blonde woman got a small smile and then Maddie spotted the Toad Guy from the common room and she sidled over to him. Sticking her hand under her chin, she wiggled her fingers in greeting and smiled. YO. |
Toby let out a cough as he got closer to Greenhouse Eight, and saw his breath steam out in front of him. He pulled his robes a little tighter around him, and soon found himself arriving at the Greenhouse and joining a large throng of people. The Hufflepuff smiled around at a few familiar faces in the class, and Professor Bentley got a cheery wave, too. Herbology was always a lesson that Toby looked forward to. |
Finally a subject that she's looking forward too, Herbology. Its freeeeeeeeezing. She already wore thick sweater and all that but she still feeling a bit chilly. Candice saw her Head of House was standing outside the Greenhouse. They're not going inside the greenhouse? "G..Goo..od..Morrrr...ning, Professor." Please excuse her shivered. |
This was the class Norah had been waiting for! When she finally found the correct greenhouse after wandering around the grounds for any sign of where she should go, she was shivering somewhat uncontrollably. She wasn't sure if it was from cold or excitement, but she was smiling all the same. She spotted who she assumed was the professor and waved cheerfully before retreating to where the crowd of students was gathered. |
It was so cold outside. So cold. Gwen pulled her jacket closer around her shoulders to try to conserve some of the heat. Summer had just ended. But she supposed she was a lot further north than she had been during the summer. That tended to make for colder weather. "Hello Professor Bentley." Gwen waved slightly before folding her arms back together. They were going to go inside, weren't they? This was Gwen's second worst class. She was terrible with plants. Having lived two places in her life, both of which were cities, she didn't know much about them. Only that her mother kept flowers sometimes inside, and none of them lived very long. But, she was determined to figure it out. She had six more years to do it. |
*waves to Cris, Bay, Jasmine, and Angel* Why was it so chilly today? Bundled up in a jacket, Lux made her way over to the greenhouses trying her best to warm up a little. It would be lovely if she had some tea or hot chocolate to warm her up a little, but of course she didn't. Siiiigh. Spotting the Professor, she gave her a big smile because she always had liked Herbology and Professor Bentley. "Hello, Professor. How are you today?" Hopefully good besides the chilliness in the air. Cris, Bay, Angel, and Jasmine were here already, which made her smile. "Hey, guys! Is it just me, or is it cold today?" Where was the nice weather? Rubbing her arms, she bounced on her feet and tried to get warmer. |
Quote:
Taking off his sweater he was thankful he had on a long sleeve shirt underneath he handed his warm sweater over to Lux. "here put this on and keep warm" he didn't want her to get sick plus isn't this what good boyfriends are supposed to do. |
Too cold. Waaaaayyy too cold. Pulling her grey sweater further across her small frame and shivering a bit, the redhead made her way down the hill and towards the greenhouse. It wasn't normally this cold at the beginning of term. Now the girl was glad her hair fell JUST too short to put up in a ponytail. The warmth on her neck was good. "Pretty cold out today." Please tell her that they were going inside. Because if they had to work outside, her fingers were going to freeze. And the freckled faced girl kind of liked her fingers. They were useful for playing with her shoulder length hair and grabbing stuff. And for hitting people --mainly Spencer-- and for turning the pages of books. Yes, fingers were important. "Hello... Professor." She was shivering. Small people got cold faster. Common fact. And the reason that the thin girl was obsessed with sweaters. The twelve year old huddled with the others outside of the greenhouse, trying to breathe warm breath into her small hands. |
Brrrrrrrrrrrrr! It was chilly, wasn't it? Pulling his robes a little tighter around him, Grayson made his way down towards the greenhouses. He'd been here before, of course, thanks to his wandering around so it wasn't too hard to find the right location. That didn't mean that the boy wasn't going to take his sweet old time in getting here. Who wanted to be mega early for a lesson on plants? Exactly. Not him. But then again, a big part of him wanted to learn about the dangerous plants; the plants that were dangerous and had a keen sense to devour things. THOSE were the plants he wanted to learn about. Not the namby pamby ones. The sign for this lesson had been a weird one. Common sense? Who'd forget to bring THAT?! Jeez. Reaching the right greenhouse where there were a number of students and a blonde woman standing outside, Grayson came to a stop and looked over at the blonde woman in particular. "Hello Professor!" He didn't have to introduce himself, did he? Because that wasn't going to happen. He had brought the necessary items, though: dragon hide gloves, note-taking implements and a smile that was currently buried somewhere deep inside his soul. |
Whoa! Whoa whoa whoa whoa, everyone kinda needed to MOVE because this had to be the most epic thing she'd seen all day. Lex ungraciously shoved her way to the front of the crowd gathering at the entrance to this particular greenshouse. It was all much too exciting for her to stand out here like this and she thought maybe they were all just being pansies standing around. Apparently not though. The Professor was blocking the entrance to the flesh eaters. "G'morning Professor!!" Lex said BEAMING at the woman. WERE THEY GOING TO FEED THE FLESH EATERS??? She already had her list of victims, just give her a second to fish it from her back!!!! The Gryffindor was practically bouncing on the balls of her feet, trying to sneak a peek inside every now and then. "Are we doing snargaluffs today? Gonna see those dragon trees you mentioned? Am I gonna need a firstie |
Herbology! This class was interesting to learn. I mean he would want to know about vicious plants. As he made his way to the classroom, he noticed there was a chill to the air. He moved his scarf closer to his neck. He didn't like the wind. Once inside the classroom, he saw other students made it here. He nodded to all of them. Then he saw the professor and he smiled and nodded. "Good morning Professor, i hope all things are well.." He managed to find his seat near the front and started to warm up his hands a little bit. He breathed into them making them feel better. It was starting to get colder out that is for sure. He took out his notebook and quill getting prepared for what they were gonna learn. |

Kyroh stomped his way through the grounds as he made his way over to the greenhouses for his first Herbology lesson ever. It was pretty apparent that the first year was super excited. It wasn't that he was good with plants or anything (although he did like cucumbers) but his papa had told him that the professor was really nice and that he had to behave in her class. So he was ready, ready to behave an everything, even if it was a bit chilly outside. He pushed his way to the front until he was beside that other girl from the boats! "Hi Professor! It's a little cold out. But i'm still here. I'm Kyroh Scabior. What's your name?" Kyroh asked, words rushing out of his mouth. Hi. He was here, and he was ready to listen. Why were there so many greenhouses? Also, he turned to the Gryffindor girl from the boat. She just had on a sweater! "You look cold. You want a cloak? You can have mine if you want." Cause he wasn't that cold. Kyroh was used to the Scottish fall anyways. |
Having already been out for a run earlier in the morning, Sophie knew better than to trudge down to the greenhouse in normal wear. There were multiple layers of warmth under her robes, and she already had her gloves on. Totally prepared today. She was even more grateful for her preparedness when she saw that everyone was lining up outside and she could actually SEE people shivering as she neared the group. Poor kids. "Good morning, professor," Sophie greeted cheerfully, gravitating toward Benjy and standing beside him silently. What would they be doing today, hm? Something better than those topiaries? |
Mentions of Jasmine, Bay and Lux Glad to see other students arriving, Cris kept his place in line even as he smiled first at Bay when he joined the line, followed closely by Jasmine and lastly, Lux. When Lux made a comment about the weather, Cris shivered involuntarily. He loved Fall just as much as he loved being out in the cold.....when he was moving around. Standing in line trying to be as stationary as possible was another matter. "It does feel a little chilly. Maybe it's because we're not actively doing something," Cris leaned over to softly whisper in reply. He glanced over at Jasmine to see how she was doing, slowly mouthing "Are you warm enough?" to her. If need be, he would offer his warm jacket for her to wear. |
Cris and Bay Continuing to bounce on her feet, Lux nodded at what Cris was saying. "Totally. Hopefully working will warm me up a little. I was not meant for chilly weather." Winter was the worst time for her; she always had to bundle up so much just to stay warm. The only good thing about it was all the snow, which was pretty. Oh, and skating and skiing were fun too! As Bay took off his sweater and offered it to her, she gladly took it. He was such a good boyfriend. "Are you sure you aren't cold?" Even though he had a long-sleeved shirt, that didn't mean he wasn't feeling the temperature. Lux did not want Bay to turn into an ice cube. Putting the sweater on, she instantly started to feel warmer. |
Benny & Ethan, too ^_^ Was he late? Adi had lost track of time because he had been reading an interesting book on hippogriffs. But now he arrived at the Greenhouse, breathing slightly heavier than usual as he had jogged all the way out here. And why was it cold? Hmmm... "Hi, Professor!'' Adi said to the woman. "Hope all's well with you.'' He turned to look for Benny who was no doubt already there but he caught sight of Ethan. "Hey, Mr. Smithereens!'' Grinning, he stuck out his hand. Fist bump, Mr. Cool dude? Adi turned to Benny. "Hey, old dragon.'' Grin. |
Adi and Benny in here. She wasn't late? Good, that was a relief. AJ had managed to get a free pass from the Astronomy professor, but she decided that she didn't need to press her luck. Who knew how her head of house would handle the situation. It was freezing, and she was ready to get inside as quick as she could. As she made her way inside her eyes landed on the professor. "Hello head of house professor ma'am." Was her sisters already here? Abby had an excuse not to wait on her, but it seemed like even though AJ and Angel were in the same house they were never making it to the lessons together. Oh well, she spotted the two older boys that she got along well with and made her way over to them. "Hey guys!" The first year couldn't wait to see what magical plant they were going to be working with. Personally she hoped it had teeth. |
Snoooooooooooooooooooore. Herbology. SnOOOOOOORE. It was enough to get Theodore in a mood on its own, but the fact that it was so cold out made it even more unbearable. He had a thick coat on and his arms folded during his whole journey down to the greenhouses. Was he allowed to apparate to classes? Theo hadn't ever tried that... huh... that was an experiment for another day, though, because he was finally here. "Hi, Professor." Theo's voice droned a bit. |
Gareth didn't like being bothered to get out of his bed when there was such a chill outside so he was not in best of his moods as he walked to this greenhouse place. He marched there ignoring everyone around and stood at the end of the line. Nope. No greetings for anyone and the professor was included. Quote:

Zander shivered a little as he made his way to Herbology. Off in the distance he could see his professor standing right outside of the greenhouse entrance and by the looks of it she was a little cold too. Definitely not the only one. As he got closer to the greenhouse he put on a small smile because Herbology wasn't half bad. In fact, it was more like half good. Maybe even more than just half good. It was good. Herbology was nice. There were no intense spells involved, you didn't have to clean everything every five seconds, no lint rollers at the door, and you weren't forced to make up random predictions. Yeah, Herbology was actually pretty great. Not to mention the fact that the professor was head of Gryffindor house. Yes, that helped. Zander's shy smile matched his soft eyes as he walked pass his professor. "Hi Professor, kind of chilly this morning isn't it? I hope you're doing well." He lingered around long enough for a response, and then headed towards the collection of other students. |
Herbology. The one class you got to stick your hands in mud and around deadly plants. What's not to like? Maybe that it was outside. And it was fairly cold, even though it was only October. But that was okay. He probably should have brought a scarf, but the thought hadn't occurred to Aidan until he left the Common Room fire's side and was already three floors down. He might've been late if he'd turn around. Then he wouldn't have gotten a prime seat near his friends. ...Or prime standing spot so they could sit together. Hi Lex. |
Mo was a big fan of Herbology, and he was a pretty big fan of the no nonsense teaching style of Professor Bentley, so he was happy to be approaching the greenhouse for his first Herbology lesson of his last term. Lots of professors could be strict, but Bentley managed to keep them all contained without bullying them. That was impressive. "Hey, Professor. Bit brisk this morning, isn't it?" He nodded politely at the professor when he found her waiting for them outside the greenhouse. |
Agatha walked towards Greenhouse eight with her beeeeeeeeautiful hair waving behind her. "Hello, professor." She greeted the older witch when she arrived, making sure her hair still looked alright. "Hi, Candice." She gave her little friend a wave as she stood near her. She also spotted some other people she knew. Mostly Slytherins |
Marisol walked into the greenhouse. It sure was a refreshing change of the weather she'd experienced while walking to class. When exactly did it get cold out? The first year tugged on her cap to cover her more and stretched her robes as to not expose her skin. It was really much colder inside. Maybe it had to do with the Greenhouse Effect. Mari wasn't a scientist, but she'd heard about climate change and such. Today she was glad for it. This young blonde must be the professor and the Gryffindor Head, if Marisol wasn't mistaken. The brunette had seen this lady at the staff table. It seemed as if most of the instructors at Hogwarts were still quite young and good-looking, with the exception of that Ancient Runes guy. No offense intended to him, of course. "Good morning," Mari greeted her teacher. "I'm Marisol Cruz." |
omg im dying laughing! :P Quote:
He wasn't going to comment back on the brown nosier thing because it would just make things worse. Turning his back to him he tried his best to ignore the kid and talk with his friends and girlfriend instead. yeah he was mr.highroad, he should feel proud. He started to beam. |
Quote:
Frown on her face, Lux glared at the boy who was being rude to Bay. And who did he think he was? "He isn't a suck up, he is a nice person. You are being rude." They were in class, so she needed to be nice, but she was not happy that this guy was being rude to her boyfriend. |
Herbologyyyy! Sophie actually enjoyed Herbology, because the subject had a nice link to all the other subjects. Plus, she knew a lot about plants, since her mother was a Potions Mistress and brewed with plants all the time. Walking up to the classroom area, Sophie saw the professor and gave her a smile. "Hello, Professor," she said. Then she joined the other students standing around in waiting for things to get underway. |
Quote:
Michael didn't think it was that cold. It wasn't even winter yet and already most of the students were bouncing around as though their fingers and toes were about to fall off. It was rather funny. He threw the Professor a quick smile. "Morning Professor." He moved over to the other students and stood beside a young Slytherin. "You appear to be shrinking Newell." He gave her a little nudge with his elbow. |
the brown-noser comment XD SPOILER!!: Fira, Grr..Meow, Squishy Oh look, it was Olly's favorite class. So, where was she, hmm? Maybe if Schuyler started plucking up some blades of grass or a stray wildflower, Olly would come out of the woodwork to scold her. She actually was contemplating doing this when she heard some Slytherin boy call one of her fellow Lions a brown-noser. And.... well, Schuyler couldn't help but let a short laugh escape her throat. Only because it was kind of the truth, you know. Warm tea for the prof. That diiiid look like some major sucking up right there. Sorry, Bay. Slightly disappointed that the other Lion hadn't taken the bait on the brown-nosing dig, Schuyler shrugged her robes closer and was about to look elsewhere when some Hufflepuff took said bait FOR the Gryffindor. Really? Letting someone else do the fighting for him? Sigh. This was entertaining, though. Good, entertaining start to Herbology this morning. So Schuyler stood back and watched. |
They were hardly into the term and Ascanius was already over it. Was this how the entire term was going to be? Seventh year boredom about every single subject? At least in previous years he could get excited about Herbology 'cause Bentley was fit and a treat to eye up all class. ...he just wasn't as into as it usual. He had been sort of distracted lately, which didn't help. Walking into the Greenhouse, he lazily smirked without any enthusiasm and said, "Hello Professor. You look lovely." Ugh. His heart just wasn't in it. |
Caleb had to admit, Herbology wasn't THAT bad. It was usually easy for him, and it was nice to deal with nature and stuff for a while. But he couldn't do it as a CAREER or anything. Still, he showed up with a smile on his face. "Hello Professor," he said to Bentley politely as he took his seat. |
Cris frowned when someone made a comment calling Bay a brown noser just because he had brought Bentley some tea. If only that person had known, he, Cris had offered to make the Professor a whole pot!! But that was because he felt bad for making her have to come to his rescue. Seeing that Lux had told off the kid, Cris decided to remain silent choosing to give the offender a disapproving look before turning his attention back to the Professor. |
Herbology. Eh, not her favorite class. But, she figured that she might as well go. Learn something. Get ready for NEWTS at the end of the year. Joining the rest of the class, Layla had to wonder why they were meeting outside the greenhouse. It would be warmer inside, wouldn't it? Unless this was the greenhouse with the more dangerous plants. Then she didn't want to be anywhere near it. "Hello, professor." Could they get inside now, please. |
Another lesson, more points to earn, more homework to expect. JUST what Beverly has been looking forward to. It exercised her mind and kept her knowledge fresh. Not that she'd forget anything she learned. Nope. One she learned stuff they usually stuck. Well. There was last years incident with the aging situation, but she wasn't dwelling on that. No purposely anyway. Upon entering the greenhouse, Beverly shuddered at the temperature change and rubbed her hands together. It was nicer in here. Proceeding onward, she shot the professor and shy grin. "Good day, Professor Bentley." More topiary projects? No? They've been fun. |
And Agatha too ^_^ Quote:
You look cold? She was. Cloak? He was offering her his cloak? "I...Yes, please." If he's not feeling cold and not really need it, she could really used a cloak. The eleven year old saw Agatha walking toward her. "Hey, Agatha. how are you?" And did someone just say something about tea? |
LOL some people need to read the notice & thread description. LINING UP OUTSIDE, ahem SPOILER!!: REPLIES IN HERE, yep And... they were ready now, yes? ... ... But no, there were more on the horizon, so they could afford to wait a moment more. SPOILER!!: MOAR replies! And that was it. That was all the time they could afford to delay the beginning of the lesson. If anyone was late from here on in, then they would be held accountable. "Gooooood morning everyone! Welcome to the first Herbology lesson of the term," she greeted, arms out as she addressed the masses. "For those of you knew to the school, my name's Professor Bentley, and for those of you who are returning, welcome back." For the time being she kept the door to the greenhouses closed and locked, very well secured, as they had a couple of things to discuss before getting their gloves dirty. "Before we enter, could you all please put your gloves on if you haven't done so already, and leave any foodstuffs you have on your person outside. The only consumables you may bring into this greenhouse is water." So... do those now kiddies... "Unless you feel like being eaten?" Perhaps a hint as to what they might be looking at today. OOC: The lesson has officially started, no late arrivals please. The lesson will continue in approx 14 hours. |
Marisol didn't like her gloves. They were old and had holes, which was probably dangerous. Especially if they were dealing with something that required absence of food. The eleven year-old didn't have food, so that wasn't an issue. This fact reminded her that she was extremely hungry. This Herbology stuff was hit-the-ground-running material. Even though Mari was new to the country and its language, she understood the verb "eat". And no, it was not in her best interest to be eaten. She would not like to go to the hospital wing on her first official day of school! |
Smiling at the Professor, Lux was so happy to be back at Hogwarts and in Herbology class. Professor Bentley was one of her favourite Professors because she was so nice, and this subject was cool too. "I am doing well, thank you." It was a shame that the mood had to be killed by that mean boy who couldn't tell that Bay was only being nice. Honestly. She did not understand some people. Drama dealt with, Lux was happy to jump right into the lesson. Rolling the sleeves of Bay's sweater up, she reached into her bag and took out her gloves. On her hands they went. Wait. What? THEY COULD BE EATEN?! Nervously she raised her hand. "We won't REALLY be eaten will we, Professor?" An uncertain glance was sent towards the greenhouse. |
SPOILER!!: Adi "Sup, yo!" Ethan beamed at Adi and returned the fist bump. So cool, that kid was. And yes, yes. The Skateboarding stuff will happen soon. Soon! SPOILER!!: Bentley Ethan beamed at the professor and bowed to her. That's what a gentleman should do right? "Likewise, Professor Bentley!" he said as he tucked his hands behind him. It was always a good thing to put a face to a name. All he had back in their common room were names of teachers and the subjects they taught. So yes, gloves! Ethan got his pair from his back pocket and donned them. He wiggled his gloved fingers in front of him to show the professor that he was ready. Foodstuff? Nope. He doesn't have any food with him...even water. Wasn't even a hot day, so bringing water to this class wasn't logical. Yep! "Ready, professor!" Whoa. Wait. "Eaten?" Ethan looked at the door to Greenhouse Eight suspiciously. "I spoke too soon..." |
Being eaten? The plants they were going to look at ate people, didn't they? After a year at Hogwarts, this kind of stuff shouldn't have surprised Gwen anymore, but it totally did. No doubt Bentley would keep them all safe, but the idea of walking into a greenhouse filled with Audrey 2's offspring didn't really seem like a bright idea to the twelve year old. Regardless, she pulled her gloves out of her bag and slipped them on. Good thing too, because at least they were warm. She screwed up her courage, she was probably going to need it. She hadn't brought food with her, anticipating not being able to eat it in class anyway, so all that she had to do was pull her hair out of her face with the band around her wrist, and she was ready to go meet the Venus Humantrap. |
Gloves on? Kate pulled her gloves out and stuffed her hands into them. Meh. They were a little big. She wiggled her fingers. They would work. No thorns were going to prick her hands! No foodstuff? That was easy. Kate hadn't brought a snack. She gave Professor Bentley two gloved thumbs up and even smiled, not at all processing the fact that Bentley suggested they might get eaten and not just their food. |
Jasmine waved at Lux when she arrived. The gang's all here, she thought. When Cris asked if she was warm enough, Jasmine whispered back. "I'm fine". Shortly thereafter, the Professor indicated that it was time to begin the lesson. Jasmine reached into her backpack and grabbed her gloves. Following Professor Bentley's instructions, Jasmine put on the gloves and prepared to enter the greenhouse. She didn't have any food with her so she would not have to dispose of anything. Jasmine wondered what they would be working with today. The "Do you feel like being eaten?" comment did not escape her. |
Cris mouthed "okay" when Jasmine replied to his question and then his attention was drawn to Professor Bentley announcing that class had started. When she instructed them to put on their gloves, Cris reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out his dragon hide gloves, quickly slipping them on. Then he checked his pockets to make sure that he had not left any nice tasting goodies in it...which he had a tendency to do. Ascertaining that all food bits had indeed been already eaten, Cris gave the okay sign and waited to be allowed into the greenhouse. No foodstuffs unless they wanted to be eaten comment only peaked Cris' interest. Why did they need to worry about getting eaten...unless....they were going to be working with plants that exactly that!. Heart pounding...not from fear, but the knowledge that he might be coming face to face with a flesh eating plant made him wary but excited at the same time. |
SPOILER!!: Candice "My name is Kyroh by the way." So yes, there was that. Shrugging off his cloak the ravenclaw handed it over to the girl. Because it wasn't a good thing if she was too cold. She'd catch a cold and be sick and what if there were man-eating plants and she sneezed on one of them and they got mad and ate her? It wouldn't be fair at all if she got eaten just cause she had been cold. Bouncing on the balls of his feet he turned back to the professor. SPOILER!!: Bentley She...knew who he was? The bouncing stopped. "You do? Am I in trouble Professor?" Like....seriously...yeah? Because he didn't want to be. The claw didn't like getting in trouble. Though she had winked so....Kyroh simply wasn't sure. He knew he had seen the Professor before that time when he visited the castle. So maybe that was what she meant? Hopefully. He did not need another Professor wanting to send owls home to his parents. Especially not one his papa had said to be nice to. BENTLEY! Yes that was her name. Kyroh almost slapped himself on the head for forgetting. He had to pay attention! He had known that too. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a pair of dragon-hide gloves and quickly pulled them on. ...Eaten....? SEE HE WAS RIGHT! The girl had a chance of being eaten!!! |
Sorry >.< She got a wink from a professor, and not just any professor, but Bentley, the one Kennedy got all starry-eyed over when he talked about her during his time at Hogwarts. She might have been young, but Beverly understood. The Slytherin had to contain her amusement and remember to go tell her brother about his former But that was for later, right now she had to put her gloves on. Good thing she hadn't brought snacks in her bag this time. Most of it had been shared with special people and the rest eaten, so nothing to worry about. Not that she was worrying. The thought of meeting risky plants peaked her interest. |
Cutty had to consider on the subject of food stuffs and he froze for a brief second trying to remember if he'd packed anything from his inventory. Normally, he liked to carry a little on his person at all times, as one never knew just when the opportunity for a sale would occur. Not to mention the opportunities for upping a tea blend of your own invention or saving the dangerously low blood sugar levels of a prefect. In this case, though the third year hadn't replaced the jelly slugs he was thinking about taking with him when he packed his bag for Herbology. They were sitting under the bed and he felt a twinge of panic upon realizing this. What if Angeal found them and just helped himself leaving Cutty out of sickles worth of profit? Cutty knew where he slept. He dug out his slowly-starting-to-fit dragonhide gloves and pulled them onto his hands. His eagerness at the class piqued, because maybe Bentley was going to commit murder again with her plants. He recalled what Caleb had mentioned about the ghost accusing Bentley of murder, HER murder, last year. They were all going to die. Or some of them were. Cutty was going to attach himself to someone weak and use that person as Orpheus used biscuits on Cerberus in order to save his own life. Disaster avoided! |
Norah smiled at the professors return of her wave. She rummaged around her bag for her gloves, extracting a broken quill or two in her effort. She slid them over hands and admired how worn out they were. They had belonged to her mum when she was younger, and even though their original color was indistinguishable from the dirt and mysterious blotches, she loved them all the same. She listened intently to the professors words, glancing down at her bag at the mention of food. Nope, she had finished her last cookie when she had been trying to find the greenhouses. Speaking of which, her shivers were slowly becoming interspersed with the occasional rumble of her stomach. Eaten? COOL! There was really nothing like a few crazy plants, if you asked her. |
Text Cut: Bentley Bentley was so nice. Soph loved her to death, so she gave her a beamy face at her greeting. Totally the nicest. Reminded her a lot of her mother in all the best ways. She was easily her favorite female professor in the whole school. With her gloves already on, Sophie felt all sorts of smug and prepared - untiiiiiiiiil Bentley told them they couldn't take any food into the greenhouse. Oops. Soph knew not to consume anything in the greenhouse, of course, but... she almost always had a stash of sweets on her. Usually at least a chocolate frog or a box of crystallised pineapple for emergencies, whether it be for her or an impulsive gift for someone else. It was just habit. Reluctantly peeking into her bag, the Ravenclaw had to dig around a little before pulling out two packages of chocolate frogs. Shame. When she discovered no other edible items in there, she looked around at her friends, wondering if they'd help her out and eat the two chocolate frogs quickly before they went inside, buuuut... she ended up tossing them away from the group, letting them land in the frost-covered grass. She'd come back for them later. Or someone could find them as a nice surprise. Whatever. It was probably more important to not get eaten. |

Angel put on her gloves and checked her pockets to make sure there wasn't any food stuff on her, when she was satisfied she just looked at the Professor and waited to be let into the greenhouse because it was a bit cold out here and she didn't like it. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Leah walked closer to the crowd, she could not hear what the professor was saying. Being short stopped her from seeing the professor too. What was she saying? The second year gave up trying to listen and decided to copy what the others were doing. She pulled her gloves on, and watched cluelessly as some started throwing food away. Oh well, Leah only had a bottle of water in her bag, and she knew that water was permitted. Then she heard something that sent chill up her spine. Being eaten? What? Leah concluded that she had heard something wrong. |
For once, he was at the back of the group and not the front. Dima could barely see the professor, not having even managed to get close enough to greet her before she began speaking, but at least he could still hear the lady. He already HAD his gloves on, not because they were required but because it was cold. And Dima hadn't brought any food to class anyway, because wasn't that against the rules? There were supposed to be MAN-EATING PLANTS at this school, he'd heard. They'd probably go for the kids with chocolate on their person first. Which, once again, was NOT him. |
...Gloves on? No food? What on earth were they studying today? ... Nope, Derry had no idea. There were a bunch of carnivorous plants, but they usually wanted to eat the students rather than the food they were carrying around. Derry made sure her gloves were on properly - she was already wearing them, thanks to the cold weather, and got ready to follow them inside. She didn't have any food on her for once... She should probably start carrying it around again. It was becoming an issue in certain situations. |
Lucy thought:" Luckly I have had a brunch before...!" Only water is enough!"..and she follow them inside.. |

Yes, yes he did have his own gloves. He didn't want to walk around with another pair of pink and glittery ones that they had to wear in Care of Magical Creatures. So he took out his own pair of black gloves and put them on. What she said next made him look up again and this time he groaned. Leave their food?! WHY?! he wanted to snack every now and then during classes! The Gryffindor pushed his hands in to his pockets very reluctantly and took out... bubblegum, bertie botts every flavour beans, some crumbled cauldron cakes rest overs. Out from the other pocket came an Acid Pop, a few ice mice and THEN he moved to his school bag. Which surprisingly only had a Liquorice Wand in it. "I can have these back right?!" he asked. |
Adi grinned as AJ arrived. "Hey!'' was all he could say for Professor Bentley started addressing the gathered students. Gloves, right! He had brought those. He quickly pulled them on. And as for foodstuffs... O_o Why did they have to leave them behind? Unless they felt like being eaten? O_o Er...he'd rather leave his sweets outside, thank you very much. From his pocket came two chocolate frogs and a Sugar Quill. He'd be getting these back, right? Kevin had asked an important question. |
And it had worked! She had their attention. Of course there was the very real risk that one of them might get gnawed on, but fingers crossed they'd be smart enough not to ignore her instructions. So long as they all listened, didn't wander, and didn't touch things without otherwise being told to, then they'd be fine. Quote:
"Do you honestly think I'd let any of you die?" she asked, her tone soft with disappointment. "No, so long as you all listen, you'll all live." Quote:
"Yes, eaten... but don't worry, I rather like keeping my job." So nobody would die on her watch. ... ... Never mind what happened to Marion Burbage. That wasn't her fault. Quote:

Still, she watched as he prepared himself for their entrance. SPOILER!!: Kevin and Adi And whooops... he knew about it, well that was something. Seren bit back a giggle. It really was rather amusing, all things considered. But she wouldn't laugh at the boys expense, that would be rude. "My apologies." .. ... And what was with all the food? Kevin seemed to be hoarding a miniature shop in his pocket, and some of the others too had a stash on their person. Were her lessons the equivalent of a picnic? Never mind the tea party they had a couple of terms ago, but this.. this was something else. "Of course you can, I have no use for them." Except to maybe bribe her prefect, but that was hardly necessary. OOC: Reminder, lesson continues in approx 3-4 hours. |
Benny wrinkled his nose a little at the nickname but it was clear he wasn't totally bothered by it. Maybe just the old part his friend insisted on keeping. Adi was the elder of the two of them by a few months he believed. Before he could dwell or respond further however, Professor Bentley called for their attention to begin class. Gloves on...check, the boy slipping them out from his supplies and onto each of his hands. Not having any foodstuffs he was fine, but he absently nudged his bestie as the Hufflepuff had to turn over some things. He did have a sweet tooth. |
SPOILER!!: Kyroh "Nice to meet you, Kyroh." People said that when they meet new people, right? "I'm Candice." Now that they already know each other could she has that cloak? Please? Candice accepted the cloak when Kyroh handed to her and put it on. Much better. She should remembered to wear a cloak next lesson. "Thanks. I'll return it to you after class." So maybe she should stay close to the Ravenclaw. SPOILER!!: Bentley Teeeaaa. Kyroh's cloak already help her with this cold but she didn't mind a cup of hot tea. "Thank you, Professor." She took the cup from Professor Bentley. She hold the cup in her hands for a while to warm up her hands before she drink it. Aaaah. Tea was the best. Aftershe was done with her tea, she gave the cup back to Professor Bentley. She noticed a lot of students already gathered around outside the greenhouse waiting for Bentley to start the lesson. Finally after all of them were there, the Professor started the lesson. Candice took out her gloves from her backpack and put it on. Leave their foods behind? She didn't bring any foods with her so she's good. Eaten? By the plants? Was that mean they're going to study man-eating plants today? COOL! |
Text Cut: Hera ...and there was the Good Morning that started the class. Sophie's head turned toward the professor as she listened to an introduction she already knew. After all, she'd been a student of Bentley's for two years now. This would be the third. Sophie hadn't put her gloves on yet, so she put down her bag and began fishing through it for her gloves. Finding them, she put them on. Food? She didn't think she had any food on her, but she looked anyway just in case. No sense in being eaten when you didn't have to be, hmm? Heh. Nope. No food. All good here. |
Ava watched as some of the other students emptied their pocket. Making a face, she couldn't help but wonder why anyone would want to bring food with this to class. Especially a class so covered with At least she had remembered her gloves. Slipping her pack off of her back, she sat it on the ground and bent over to fish them out. New gloves. They always felt nice the first time pulling them on. They were still a bit snug so she wiggled her fingers while waiting to begin. |
Gloves ON. CHECK! Maddie had tugged hers on securely and GRINNED when Professor Bentley said that those not wanting to be EATEN get rid of any food they had with them. DID THAT MEAN SCARY PLANTS? The small brunette was VERY interested to see and she couldn't WAIT to get inside the greenhouse. ...She WOULD pick someone to stand behind in there, though. She MIGHT be interested in scary plants but she DIDN'T want to be the first one attacked by one. |
What? Wait. Noooo. The Professor had clearly misunderstood. They finally get a class with flesh eaters, the last thing the Gryffindor intended to do was watch a bunch of firsties. That wasn't her job--or was it? These job descriptions got very sketchy when you added flesh eaters. No Professor. She wanted to feed one to the flesh eaters. A quiet one so no one would really notice they were gone til it was too late--ugh, unless the kid suddenly developed lungs of steel and started hollering for dear life. Admittedly that'd be a bit annoying. The Gryffindor stood eagerly waiting for them to be permitted inside while the Professor went over basic stuff. Her candy bag had been left up in her dorm and her gloves were slapped on in a second. SHE WAS READY. Lex glanced around to see if anyone else was ready. Could they hurry? This was exciting stuff. No time to be freaking out about their safety and their lives, gosh. |
Agatha smiled at her little friend Candice before the class started. "I'm good, thank you, I hope you're alright as well." She said before looking around for something interesting. Nothing really caught her sight. Professor Bentley's words did make Agatha perk up a bit. But only a bit. She had been dealing with living creatures for quite a long time and she wasn't too excited about this. But the fact some of the kids seemed slightly... afraid even, made Agatha want to observe them for some reason. Putting her gloves on, the girl was ready to work. Truth be told, she wasn't super excited about the lesson, but she was quite curious to see what they'd be working with. And she had no food; just water. Agatha Hapgood was a healthy girl and carried water with her everywhere she went. Always. Always. |
Welcome to Herbology. That was nice. Yes. Thank you, Professor Bentley. See? Manners. And to think his mother thought that he didn't have any. Which was only partly true. Wait, WHAT?! The gloves he could understand because blah blah safety blah blah don't want to get bitten but the FOOD?! What if he didn't WANT to leave his food out? But he also didn't want to be eaten by a PLANT. No thank you. Grayson reached into his pockets and took out a packet of Bertie Botts. That was all he had. And he was going to keep that outside, mkay? And if there WAS a chance that he could be eaten, that meant that they were going to be dealing with deadly plants. Those were exactly the kind of plants he wanted to be dealing with today. Smirking at this thought, the fourth year took out his gloves and strapped them on. Uh huh. He was ready. |
After the disaster that had been last year's Herbology lessons, Olly had been VERY tempted not to come. But then again, she wanted to pass her NEWT exam. And maybe Bentley did have some useful things to say. Maybe. Probably not. It was worth a try though. So she was here. Leave their edible things outside? Olly raised her eyebrows at Bentley for a moment before shrugging. Probably a good idea. She hadn't brought any food to a Herbology lesson anyway. So after putting on her gloves, she just waited, wondering what would be inside. Something at least somewhat dangerous apparently. Ish. |
Bay smirked at the boy "see thats what you get for being rude" he thought as he tried to hold back his laughter because Professor Bentley took two house points away from Slytherin, like what was the big deal he was offering her some hot tea. it was cold hence a hot beverage. Oh well she accepted it and even offered him some. "oh no thanks Professor" he replied with a big smile. And now because they couldn't bring food in besides water he was glad he didn't accept the tea. Taking out his gloves he put them on as he padded his robes… "nope, got no foods on me Professor" he waited with the other students before they all went in. |
Marigold stuck her tissues in her pocket, then took out her gloves. It was only a cold, she would get better sooner or later. She slipped her gloves on. No food? She didn't carry food anyway, but maybe they were dealing with carnivorous plants? That would be SO COOL!!!! She followed the rest into the greenhouse. |
Exceelllleeennnttt... so they were all prepped yes? Seren walked up and down the line of students, watching curiously as they turned out their pockets. Eating in the greenhouses was a no no to begin with, but greenhouse eight was even more of a no no. The flesh of humans would be tempting enough as it was, there was no need to add sugars and savouries to the mix. Moving back up to the front of the class, she clapped her gloved hands together and beamed. "Now... as we enter, keep close and don't wander... also, I advise you not to go touchy feeling the plants unless directed to do so. Again, I'd hate for any of you to lose a limb unnecessarily." And with those instructions in mind, wand out, keys out, Seren went about unlocking the greenhouse, and stepping inside. "Gather round here please," she instructed as she moved a little way inside the greenhouse. The fanged geraniums, throat-latching carnations, lilies and hibiscus's turned their floral heads and snapped their fangs in their direction by way of greeting. Such darlings, were they not? Stopping in front of two bushes, both of them deciduous with their leaves reddened by the Fall. Both were approximately four meters tall and both boasted berries on their balding branches. If it weren't for the fact that one had dark berries and the other vibrant red with leaves that had a serrated edge, then it would have been difficult to tell them apart. By all account, from a distance, they could pass for the same bush. "Can anyone hazard a guess what these two bushes might be? And how you might have come to that conclusion," she asked once the students were assembled. OOC: Please only try to guess ONE of the bushes, so that peeps may have variety. No editing answers, hands up, please answer the question only, additional information is not required at this stage. The lesson will continue in approx 15 hours. |
He could have his candy back after class? Good. That was all the Gryffindor wanted to know so now he waited till she would open up the door to do greenhouse. Now that he thought about it, he hadn't been in this one before...or had he? He couldn't remember... As the Professor entered the Greenhouse, Kevin followed her. This whole, mysteriously keeping the Greenhouse shut had made him curious so he was one of the first to enter. As they entered, the Gryffindor nearly jumped at the sight of a fanged geranium snapping its fangs in his direction. They were going to work in here?! with these plants?! WAS THE PROFESSOR TOTALLY ..........AWESOME?! Yes, Kevin thought that this was awesome and he wasn't even scared of the fangs. The jump earlier was simply one of surprise because how many times do you find a plant snapping their teeth at you? He stopped following the rest of the students and left behind a bit to watch the fanged geranium for a while. This was so cool! Oh right, no wandering off. And just as the Gryffindor turned around and walk away , the geranium missed snapping at his shoulder. Kevin was oblivious to the attack though and a grin was on his face when he was back with the rest. He looked at the two bushes in front of them. "Berry bush" he said while raising his hand. He had no idea... |
SPOILER!!: Bentley Ethan's eyes widened as they were greeted by the flesh-eating plants. He was tempted to greet back by showing off his teeth, but decided against it. Those flesh-eating plants might not be that 'darling' after all. The Slytherin made sure that he was within a safe distance away from those plants and turned his attention to the bushes that was being shown. He wasn't quite sure about it, but he thought it was worth a shot to throw in an answer. Hand up. "Is that a Barberry, professor?" he asked then pointed at the bush with the red berries. Ethan made a face and shrugged at his own answer. Herbology isn't his strongest subject after all. |
Lose a limb?! Errr... Sophie held her arms close to her side and walked with small steps as she followed the professor. She'd like to keep her arms and legs on her body, thank you very much. She'd take careful note to keep one eye on the plants and the other on the position of her body. Losing a limb was NOT on her 'To-do List' today. Nope. She eyed the plants that seemed to turn toward them and spring to life, complete with their fangs snapping. EEP. She stopped when the professor did and eyed the plants before them. She took note at their height, as well as the fact that their leaves were reddened and they grew berries. Different colored berries, yes, but berries nonetheless. Just...what were they? She started roaming through her brain at some plants she'd read about or encountered in the past. Raising her hand, she said, "What about Euonymus? I think they also call them Celastraceae or Burning Bush. I came to that conclusion, because those bushes have red leaves, bare branches, and grow berries." |
Adi's curiosity was sky high as Professor Bentley mentioned not wanting them to loose a limb. What plant did she have in the Greenhouse? Meh. Whatever it was, he wasn't afraid. Nope. The Puffer moved closer to the Professor. Er...what were these ferocious? plants that were snapping at them? The fangs were cool, though. He now moved his attention to the two plants that were been pointed out by Bentley. Hmm...his knowledge wasn't that good when it came to plants. So basically, Adi had no idea what the plants were but he raised a hand anyway. "Innocent looking berry bushes that are not so innocent.'' They probably had fangs like those plants over there. "I say that because most of the plants in this greenhouse seem dangerous.'' Hehe. |
Honestly, as much as she trusted Professor Bentley, her saying that she wouldn't let anyone die wasn't a huge assurance. Taking all the food out of her pockets, Lux figured that the closer she stayed with the group, the higher her chances of making it out alive. This Hufflepuff wouldn't end up as plant food. Sticking as close to her friends and boyfriend as possible, she made her way inside and looked around. Why would anyone want to keep fanged plants? They were creepy and evil looking. At least the bushes that the Professor had drawn their attention to didn't seem to have any sharp teeth. But of course Lux had no idea what they were, so she kept her mouth shut. |
Mo hadn't brought any snacks with him, but he did rub his hands against his trousers as he entered the greenhouse. The lingering scent of bacon and toast might make him more interesting than he wanted to be, and he hoped he'd done a proper job of washing up after breakfast. The paused in front of two plants, and Mo looked at both with serious consideration. Did he recognize either of them? Not right off, but he could make a good guess, right? "Professor? Is that one with the bright red berries Weigela? It has the serrated leaves and the berries are the right color." And gulp... those were particularly carnivorous, weren't they? |
Gwen stared at the bushes for a second. Was this in the textbook? They looked pretty harmless to her. Except for the fact that Bentley had said they might all get eaten. "Audrey 3?" she guessed under her breath. It wasn't a real guess. They looked a little like baldy plants with berries on them. Holly, maybe? Gwen wondered vaguely if the berries were edible. Maybe that was why the plants ate people, as a defense mechanism? Really though, she had no idea what they were. She thought about taking out a notebook and making a sketch so she could label it, but she was standing and she didn't want to use the carnivorous plants as a table, nor did she really want to use her knee and hope she could balance while she drew. |
Bay followed the class into the greenhouse after listening to Professor Bentley's comments about not loosing limbs thats when Bay gulped. "okay Bay keep your hands to your sides" he thought for he didn't want his arms to stray from his side and get hurt. Looking at the bushes Bay had no idea, his parents had plenty of fruits and vegetables in their garden behind their house but he has never seen anything before this.. he decided it was best for him not to answer. He stood there instead and listened to everyones great answers. |
Making sure her gloves were nicely in place, Agatha followed the others as everyone got into Greenhouse Eight. All the plants snapped in their reaction and the girl stared at them all. Some of them looked a bit vicious, in her opinion. Merlin, she hoped the professor knew what she was doing. Standing behind some older kids for protection, Agatha observed all the plants as professor Bentley carried on talking. Whoa, those bushes were really tall. The berries were nice looking, at least. They didn't look that dangerous, but given the Greenhouse they were in at the moment, Agatha wouldn't trust those plants either. She also had no idea what they were, so she just listened - and kept watching the plants around them - as her classmates gave answers. |
Oh they needed their gloves? Well Kace had his snack in his bag, he smirked and ate it really quickly. It was just a granola bar. He munched and munched on it till he felt full. Then he wiped his hands off and reached into his bag for his gloves. Once he put them on, he lined up with all the other students. He wondered what they were gonna be doing today. Kace was looking at the bushes and was curious. Were they gonna trim them? If they were Kace was excellent at that. That was one of his chores at home. He could easily teach that class. But something told him this would be different. He saw the bushes and wondered what they could be. He had no clue what they were. He heard his classmates answers and went with those. |
They were going IN! JHSJHDLHS! Ahem. INSIDE Maddie was ALL kinds of excited but on the outside, her expression remained neutral. She didn't want to look like some over-excited BABY or anything. NOPE. She was a mature Shuffling along with the group, Maddie stopped when Bentley did and |
Jasmine entered the greenhouse and was a bit taken aback when the Professor told them not to wander off lest they lose a limb. What? When the plants started snapping as if they smelled fresh meat, Jasmine became a tad concerned. What kind of place was this? She did not need to be told twice to stay with the tour group. When the Professor directed the class to identify two bushes, Jasmine drew a blank. She was not sure what they were so she decided not to take a guess. Not wanting to start class off on the wrong foot, Jasmine thought it best to just listen, for now. |
THEY WERE GOING IN. Sophie was beyond excited to see what was inside this particular greenhouse now that the door was open and they were shuffling inside. The third year instinctively stuck close to Benjy's side - hey, the big guy could probably punch out a plant to make it let go if it lunged at her - and kept an eye on all the different hungry-looking plants they passed. Some of them were vaguely familiar from textbooks or her mother's work, others were bizarre and like nothing she'd ever seen before. Very strange. Huh. The two bushes before them looked vaguely familiar. One more than the other, and Sophie squinted at the both of them. No name was immediately coming to mind, but as the others spoke up and rattled off answers, one title came to mind. But... she figured it was a long shot. She might've been mixing it up with something else or not even remembering it correctly. But it was probably worth a shot to guess, right? Wouldn't hurt. Bentley was nice enough to not make her look like an idiot if she was wrong. She raised a hand, "Any chance one of them's, um, the..." She tried to rack her brain for the right pronunciation, "...guelder rose? Kinda looks like it, at least. I think those are about the same in size, and I think that's the one that has the white flowers that turn into berries that are at least similar in color this time of year, and... the leaves are kind of the same?" From what she could remember. "But maybe not." Because why would they be in this greenhouse? She wanted to be right, but she probably wasn't, and she gave Bentley a sheepish grin. Nevermind. Pretend she hadn't said anything. |
Marisol did not recognize this plant at all. The only thing it reminded her of were some exotic berries she'd eaten at the farmers' market once. Goji berries? Probably not, but it was her only guess. "Goji?" she reckoned. It was most likely wrong, and she'd be surprised if it wasn't. "Ate it. Bright red as this." |
"Are they... some kind of... magical venus fly trap type... thing..?" Derry asked, eyeing the plants. "It's the only carnivorous plant I can think of." she added. Sure, there were the biting toadstools, but they certainly weren't any type of fungi. So she'd just mentioned something muggle instead. She had a venus fly trap back home... it was pretty cool. |
