Professor Culloden is welcoming you by the door again with an eager smile. Only after greeting him can you enter the classroom. The soft, calming blue walls welcome you for this term's earliest lesson. I hope you are well awake, because the chairs with soft cushions, charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated won't help you stay awake. By the door of the potions store room stands one big, grey rubbish bin and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm.
When you turn your eyes to the blackboard, you see an ENORMOUS magical picture that depicts a grinning Professor Culloden. That's not the peculiar thing about it, though, but that he's lifting a hatcback muggle car over his head as he's doing step aerobics.
What a show-off.
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the washbasin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The lesson is in progress, so don't post your characters arriving late! Just act as if they have been there all along.

• 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
• 1 pomegranate
• A cup of re’em blood
• One mature salamander’s blood
• 2 unicorn tail hairs
• Powdered griffin claw
• 2 snake fangs
1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
2. Turn the heat to high and add the dragon heart
3. Wait until it boils and add pomegranate
4. Turn the heater to medium and wait for five minutes. In the meantime, mix re’em and salamander blood in a bowl and stir them five times clockwise and five times counter clockwise and crush griffin claw (doesn't have to be a perfect powder - just crush as well as you can withOUT magic).
5. Add the blood mixture slowly and THEN, the powdered griffin claw IMMEDIATELY.
6. Wait for ten minutes and add one snake fang
7. Put the fire out and add the other snake fang
8. Stir counter clockwise once
9. Drink a cup of the potion in one go, while still hot
Notes
- Tastes like metal
- Good for anaemia or lack of iron
- Do not drink more for longer duration, but rather drink another cup after you feel it’s wearing off. If you drink more than a cup, it will make you feel too dizzy to stand straight.
- To conserve for a week after brewing, add a cup of ice from pure water
- The colour is bright yellow
- For the first few minutes after drinking, sit and let your body and muscles adjust to it. Once you feel fresh, go around being super strong, and don't worry: you can control it.
- You can omit the heart part by adding a glass of water, counting to 18 and adding pomegranate. You can also not mix Re’em blood at all and add another pomegranate instead, but this will reduce the effect to one tenth.

He closed the door once Vesper'd entered and turned to the class. He was stading at the right side of the picture not to block their sight, and grinned at them.
"Welcome to the first class of this term," he said, "I'm Cosgrach Culloden, for those who don't know me, and this is my second term teaching." So, NO 'Collarbin, Dima and Lucy, see? C-U-L-L-O-D-E-N. His eyes were on Alexa, though, and his teeth were clenched momentarily before he relaxed himself. Today was a beautiful day, and it would be even better when he and she had a chat at his office.
"Today, we'll brew a strength potion that will enable you to," he took a deep breath not to laugh, "lift a car like I'm doing in this picture. Not just for entertainment, though. It was used to carry all kinds of material in the past, beginning from ancient times, for building and stuff," yeah yeah, he didn't know why else people moved stuff and they shouldn't question that, that wasn't the point, "so we see some of those historical buildings thanks to it." He grinned proudly. They could tell it was one of his favourite potions. "It is very easy to brew, and it is good for anaemia, lack of red blood cells in the blood. It makes you dizzy and causes lack of strength, so if you don't want to bother with a proper health potion," or lack the ability to do it, "I suggest you brew this. It's also good for lack of iron, so let's start brewing!"
He didn't want to fold his amazing picture, but the kids should also learn this potion, so he tapped his wand at it and it folded itself to open the blackboard.
"As dragon heart is actually expensive, and rare," he eyed them all for it to sink, "you have to use it carefully. One heart should be enough for all the class, and uh," he glanced at his empty table, "I'll bring it and the scale while you do the first step." No one sight problems, he hoped? He didn't need to read it out himself, right?
Right.
With that, he quickly opened the door of store room and entered to get them.
OOC: The class has started, so please do not post your characters arriving late. Just act as if they have been there all along.
The class will continue about 11 hours later.
Leah groaned slightly as Professor Culloden's picture was folded up. It was starting to get hilarious. She read the ingredients list carefully, and listened for the first instruction. Adding two unicorn hairs. Easy enough.
The second year was scourgifying her cauldron (again, HYGIENE) when she heard Tobias, the older Badger boy teaching Abby on the spells. Ah, a good chance to help some firsties out! Thinking that imitating him would not hurt much, with the professor in the storeroom and all that, she said to no one in particular, "Um, I'm willing to help too, first years," And she used "Aguamenti" kind of professionally so that water started to fill up her cauldron.
Aaaand, that was two liters. Stop! Cool. Leah went up to get the two unicorn hairs (oooooh) and dropped them in, one by one. Hopefully she did not make any mistakes.
So.... That picture of Culloden was real he was just under the weight lifting potion or whatever it was called. Strength potion. Yeah.... Cinnamon figured that, Professor Hercules. Yes that's what she was going to call him. Maybe not to he's face or anything. Then again he may find some humor in it. And Culloden How was she suppose to remember that? Professor Hercules it was. Well.... Time to take some notes....

After that was copied down she the blackboard. She started sitting out the pieces of her potion kit out in front of her. She give everything a good "Scourgify!" So that everything was good and clean. Something else nana reminded her about working on potions clean clean clean. With a "Aguamenti." She filled her cauldron to two liters and added a unicorn hair then the other hair. She turned her attention back up the board ready for next set of instructions.

A STRENGTH potion?!
While before, he had looked over at the picture of the Potions master on the board with a mixture of slight jealousy and confusion, he was now looking between the picture and the man with wide eyes. His mind had probably jumped to the conclusion that they were going to be trying this potion out for themselves. Because they had to. HELLO. Super strength. He'd probably go and annoy Little Miss Sassy Pants with this too. No no, scare her. Smirk.
Grayson pulled out his wand and glanced down at his cauldron. He had done Potions before and he wasn't DUMB. Despite this, he still paused and subtly tried to listen out to what the boy he had met back at the bookstore had said. Scourgify. 'Course he knew that. Clearing his throat, he pointed his wand into the cauldron and cast the correct wand movement while saying, "Scourgify!"
LOL. See? Not dumb.
A beaker got a magical clean too, before the fourteen year old used magic to pour water into the instrument. Once two litres were measured out, he poured the water into the cauldron before glancing up at the board again. Two unicorn tail hairs. Those were grabbed and then added into his cauldron as well, one by one.
If they weren't going to be going outside and lifting up heavy larger-than-human boulders and making dragon sculptures, he was going to be severely disappointed.
And what was that about a dragon heart?

Strength Potion. Now THIS is what Maddie was talking about. Being small and surrounded by older brothers most of the time, Maddison was used to feeling powerless. Not that she ever let it stop her from trying to retaliate but STILL. Knowing how to brew something that would give her strength was really, REALLY cool. She'd read somewhere that people in serious situations, especially when loved ones were in danger, were able to demonstrate astonishing acts of strength. The thing was, now Maddie didn't have to wait until one of her brothers were run over by a truck to be able to lift it! COOL, right?!
The eleven year old scribbled down the notes she'd need for the potion and then set to work observing the older students. She'd been around magic since she was little so she was very familiar with basic cleaning spells but she'd never actually performed one before. That's where the other students came in. If she just watched them for a minute or two, maybe she'd be able to pick up the technique.

Strength Potion: Enables you to lift cars and other heavy objects AND is good for Anemia (blood problems)
Ingredients
2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
1 pomegranate
A cup of re’em blood
One mature salamander’s blood
2 unicorn tail hairs
Powdered griffin claw
2 snake fangs
Steps
1.Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
Head boy person. Maddison's eyes zeroed in on him and she watched as he cleaned his cauldron. The incantation was 'Scourgify' and she nodded, knowing that was correct cause she'd heard her brothers say it tons of times at home. They made messes a LOT, y'know. "Scourgify... Scourgify... Scourgify... Scourgify." Not too hard to say. But could she DO the spell? That was the question.
Excitement bubbled up inside of her but she didn't dare let it show. She was going to act like this wasn't her first time to the dance, okay? And so she concentrated and held her wand, pointing it into her cauldron. Confidence, Maddie. You got this."Scourgify." And just like the Head Boy had, Maddie moved her wand and watched with wide eyes as her cauldron was cleaned because she had done it!!!!!!. "Wicked." JHAJLHDJHDLHSLKJHLSJK SHE'D DONE MAGIC! Ahem. Okay. Cool. Anyway...
She was going to clean a measuring cup beaker thing TOO because guess what? She could CLEAN things now! Without asking for help, even! This was liberating. It just felt...SO good. GAH! Her expression remained passive, though. And she did clean the beaker with little trouble, a small smirk playing on her lips when she was done. And how did the Head Boy know how much water to add without measuring properly? Did you get that good when you'd done Potions enough? Could she eyeball measurements someday? She'd probably need to practice that. ...Yeah.
...And now she needed to add water. Uhhh.
Aguamenti. She'd seen the Head Boy do it but he'd worked so quickly that she hadn't been able to properly observe. Next her eyes caught a girl looking a bit older than her performing the spell. This time she caught the demonstration and whispered the incantation to herself as she observed. Didn't seem much harder that the cleaning spell, really. Lastly her eyes landed on the boy. THE boy from the wall who'd been sort of arrogant. He knew the spell already? HIM? Well that was upsetting. Also sort of inspiring because if HE could do it, SURELY she could.
Focusing her attention on the beaker and training her wand, she concentrated and said clearly, "Aguamenti!"Please...please...please...SHJHAJHLSJHLJHA! WATER! SHE'D DONE IT! Oh cool, water. Nicely done not that she'd ever had any doubts. Right.
Stopping the spell once the beaker was filled the right amount, Maddie wasted no time adding in the two liters and then she focused on the unicorn tail hairs. She handled them carefully, knowing they were probably super special. She'd read all about unicorns and knew how important they were and what they represented and she doubted that you just plucked parts from unicorns very easily. This was special, having hairs to handle. And so she added them into the cauldron with care and then sat back, satisfied with the lesson so far.

It was nice to see that the Professor had a good summer. "My summer was awesome, Professor!" But she was definitely glad to be back here and eager to do some more potion brewing!
As Cinnamon went to take the seat beside her, Lux finally looked away from the picture. "Hey!" It was awesome to see her friend, and she was still excited about Cinnamon and Emmy being here. Happily, she listened as Professor Culloden explained what they were going to be brewing today. Strength Potion seemed rather interesting, and the thought of her being able to lift a car over her head was rather amusing.
Opening her notebook, Lux jotted down what was written on the blackboard:
Quote:
STRENGTH POTION
• 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
• 1 pomegranate
• A cup of re’em blood
• One mature salamander’s blood
• 2 unicorn tail hairs

• 2 snake fangs
1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
Consulting the list, she laid out the needed ingredients before picking up her wand; she needed to clean her cauldron with Scourgify before beginning the potion. After that was done, she measured out two litres of water and added it to her cauldron before adding two unicorn tail hairs one at at time.
There.
That done, she crossed off what she had completed:

Angel was nervous, very nervous, so she was going to have to use her wand on the cauldron, what happened if something went wrong and she got told that obviously there had been a mistake and she wasn't cut out for Hogwarts, though at the minute with the ingredients she was about to use, she thought this was some horrible nightmare she would wake up from soon. She just stared at her cauldron a bit scared of what could happen.

Adi couldn't help but keep grinning at Professor Culloden's picture. The man reminded him of Superman. Super Culloden. Hehe. Adi couldn't wait to get started on this potion! He listened intently to his Professor speak. Dragon heart. Cool!
Finally, they were given the go ahead to start. Adi read the instructions carefully. He set up his cauldron, Scourgified it and then using the familiar charm of Aguamenti, measure out two litres of water into the cauldron. Next, he added the two unicorn tail hairs one after the other. There! All done with step one.
That's when Adi noticed the firstie Angel looking very nervous. "Hey, Angel,'' he whispered. "Need help?''
Adrienne headed to the supply closet and returned with her arms full of ingredients, setting them all out in an organised semicircle on her desk, then getting out her cauldron and knife and everything, just in case she needed them. She cast Scourgify on each and every thing, one by one, and when she was finally done cleaning it all she took out her notebook and headed it with her name, the date, her year and House, and the class she was in. Just in case. After that it was just filling in what was already written on the blackboard so that she'd have a permanent record of how to make the potion, for when she was studying for finals or next decided she wanted to lift a car.
With that done, Adrienne set aside her quill and notebook and uncurled herself from the chair. She grabbed her wand from the inside pocket of her robes and made the weird sideways squiggle that was the wand movement for the water-making spell, quietly saying "Aguamenti!" at the same time. The cauldron filled up with water - that had to be about two litres, right? - and carefully dropped the two unicorn hairs into her cauldron. They were just kind of... floating there. Was that what was supposed to happen?

Adrienne glanced around her to make sure that she was doing this right, since it would be a pity to mess up on the very first step, but to her surprise her neighbour was just standing. And staring. Which was rather creepy to be honest. She looked petrified, almost, and Adrienne decided with a sigh that she'd better help the poor girl out before she imploded or just spend an entire class period staring creepily at her cauldron.
"You gotta cast Scourgify first," she said, leaning over to the girl's cauldron. "It's kind of an s-shape with your wand," Adrienne said, demonstrating with her own wand, "and then the incantation Scourgify!". She directed the spell at the table, which was pretty clean anyway, but a few specks of dust still vanished. "You see? Not too hard, yeah?" Hopefully she'd stop staring now.

The idea of the potion was interesting. A strength potion. Terry wasn't sure how often he would need to use this in his lifetime but he was willing to go along with it. After all, it could be useful at some point or another. But the thought of the Dragon heart, although he wasn't a vegetarian was both fascinating and a little bit disturbing. But he shrugged the thought off and continued to watch the board as the first instruction appeared.
He took hold of his cauldron and muttered 'scourgify' to clean it before he started. All these years of Hogwarts taught him that he clearly wasn't allowed to skip this step. No it was important and he would probably get penalized if he forgot it. Once he was satisfied that his cauldron was clean enough to proceed, the Slytherin once again glanced up at the board, thankful that his eyesight was back to normal after last term. No squinting for him.
Almost as if it were second nature, the seventeen year old spoke as he pointed his wand. "Aguamenti" And the water filled up as he measured out two litres exactly. He glanced to the side to pick up his unicorn tail hairs and added them slowly one by one into the water.
He leaned back on his stool, arms folded across his chest as he waited for the next step eyes trained on the younger students should they need his help at all.

Bay was so surprised that everything was happening so quickly, for some reason it was bringing him back to his OWL's. Why was he stressing out, the potion seemed easy enough. "right Bay.. lets do this" he thought at himself as he wrote down what he needed to do.

So like everything he did he needed to clean everything around him, taking out his wand he said "Scourgify" seeing all the dirt leave his tools he had to go get some ingredients from the room. Taking what he needed he made his way back to his desk.
"so i need to add two litres of water and then my unicorn tail hairs one by one… sounds easy enough" he of course was talking to himself, he tended to do that a lot during any of his potion lessons.
Adding the water to his cauldron he made sure it was two litres exactly. Looking at his notes he needed to add the hairs individually. Picking them up he place each one in carefully and separately. "phewwww" he said as he kept track of what step he was on.

Ascanius was already bored and the class had barely begun, yeah? He just didn't wanna be here. Not after the reallllly long night he had the night before with Snaps. Throw that on top of the time class was and the fact that it was the DAY after the feast, well, Ascanius was wholly uninterested.
Trying to keep his eyes open (struggle of the morning thus far), he half listened to what the potion would do when it was done. The other half of his head was just reminding him to stay awake. On constant repeat.
The seventh year drew out his wand and made sure to clean out the cauldron. Jeez, he didn't like to think about all of the stuff that had piled up in it over summer. Too much.
The he added two litres of water and added in unicorn hair one by one.

Jasmine carefully copied the ingredients from the board and wrote down all of the additional information that she felt was important. Ready to begin, she started by washing her hands thoroughly. Next she began to clean her cauldron. Pointing her wand at the inside of the cauldron, Jasmine said, "Scourgify". She repeated the spell until she was satisfied that the cauldron was sufficiently clean.
Jasmine cleaned the rest of her potion supplies and then gathered the necessary ingredients. Taking out her measuring cup, she said, "Aguamenti". Filling the cup to the two liter mark, Jasmine poured the water into her cauldron. Finally she added the first and then the second unicorn tail hair to the water. Hoping that she had done everything properly so far, she waited for further instructions.

"Okay," he said, reaching the girl and giving her a little smile. He kept his voice loud enough that those nearby would be able to hear him if they wanted to know too. "Most people use 'scourgify' to clean their cauldrons. That's the scouring charm. Just move your wand like this and say 'Scourgify'."
As he said this, Toby pointed his wand at a simple potions stirrer he'd bought over with him. "If it's really gross, you can use 'tergeo' too, that's what I do." He pointed his wand at the stirrer again. "Tergeo."
Very clean potions stirrer in his hand, see? Hopefully, after a few tries, the girl could clean her cauldron and stuff.
"You need to clean your cauldron right before you brew any potion, and also all the mixing and measuring instruments. Cleanliness is super important in Potions." That was... somewhere in the textbook. "Does that help?"
He smiled, not leaving yet, just in case.
Abby nodded at the boy and said "Yeah i think that does help thanks"
Abby got out her wand and said "Scourgify" moving her wand the way the boy showed her and was amazed that her cauldron had cleaned and she picked up her potions stirrer and said "Scougify" and her stirrer was clean she took a not e of the other spell if her stirrer had got really dirty. Abby was amazed that she had just managed her first peace of magic and looked at her instructions and saw the rest of her classmates filling there cauldron with water from there wand with a spell and she copied them and said "Aguamenti" and was amazed that water was starting to fill her cauldron once she got to two litres in her cauldron she began to add her unicorn hairs and then waited for further instructions

Zander almost began to doze off a little as he sat waiting for others to fill the classroom. At the sound of Professor Culloden's voice he quickly jolted up in his seat. Hopefully no one caught that. He wasn't technically sleeping or anything. Just letting his eyes wonder off a little. He quickly to out a new quill and began scribbling the notes. Zander didn't like notes, but everyone else seemed to be doing the same, so it would probably be the right idea. Ooooh a strength potion? That sounds like fun. After cleaning his shiny new cauldron for the year, he took out his wand and cast an 'Aguamenti' and filled his cauldron up with two liters of water. Then he reached for the unicorn tail hairs. This wasn't too bad.

Her first lesson sounded awesome. She was digging the classroom and her face absolutely lit up when the professor started talking about a strength potion. This was right up her alley and she couldn't wait to get started. "Wicked." She said under her breath and to no one in particular. AJ spotted her sisters and noticed that they were getting help from older students. Did she really need to ask for help? The professor didn't really go into much details and not everybody came from a magical background you know!
Looking around she noticed that people seemed to be cleaning their cauldrons. AJ didn't remember the professor saying to do that, but she figured that everybody else knew what they were doing. She leaned in closer to hear the spell. She rolled the word around on her tongue. "Scourgify." she screamed with confidence, and nothing. "My cauldron refuses to clean itself." It was not her fault that she had faulty equipment!

There was the little bugger. Lex watched. There was no reason for it to not work, unless the kid completely Ravenclawed up and decided to get a second opinion on what she'd told him. Op, but the blue blood hadn't started circulating yet, clearly not. She tried her hardest to keep the snicker in...something that became a little easier when she saw the look the Professor was giving her. Lex averted her gaze, pretending to be more interested in the picture by the board. Ahem. We did nothing.
Dima had officially earned the seat next to her and of course she'd left it open. All his, for whenever he got over here. In the mean time she listened to the introduction, like she'd done the year before.
Yeah she saw the Professor giving her looks and he got a wiggly fingered wave in return because she hadn't heard anything about speaking with him in his office afterward and thought they were cool. It was a joke, see? Like the one she told last ye......ar.....yeah that one never went so well come to think of it. Merlin knew the man didn't have a bloody sense of humour about anything.
Lex pulled out her parchment while he spoke, so she could look diligent and repentent in case this would help her, however much she doubted that. Finally she took down the notes.

"Scourgify." Cleanliness first, right Professor? See her being a good student? Sigh this was hopeless, wasn't it? "Aguamenti." Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, maybe he'd forget Dima even said it by the end of the class. Yeah. Age did that to you didn't it? Messed with memory? She thought it'd have been a little longer before she heard little kids complain but she guessed not. Glancing over, she saw it was one of her own. This was all the reason to help, wasn't it? Of course it was. Lex leaned over, giving the girl a nudge. Whether it was Aubrey or Angel she didn't know, but they couldn't not have a clean cauldron. "Try to calm down and focus on the intent. I could get it clean for you but then you'll never learn." True story, one she'd heard too many times as a firstie. "Go on." She said, offering an encouraging smile. "Focus on the cauldron getting clean when you do the wand movement and say the incantation."

Caelennnn! Cosgrach grinned at the girl. She sure had some brains there. He liked that.
"It was pleasant, thank you," he said, "how was yours?"
And the way she laughed. HEHE. Cosgrach was laughing too.
"Oh, summer was great! Thanks for asking." More to herself than her teacher. But it wasn't like a lie or anything, her summer had been great. Spending it with a boy that she may or may not like and meeting a new friend and forming the three musketeers with the Hufflepuff and the other Ravenclaw was awesome. And her mom allowed it. Anything to get Rockwell some new responsibility and her to DO something with her life. The poor girl was too cooped up apparently.
Haha, Professor Culloden had an interesting laugh. It made her laugh again, which wasn't that rare. Caelen laughed at a lot of things. Her brother said she had a good sense of humor, her mom said she was insane. But she would take insane over being boring. Cough mom cough. Annnywayy, what was the deal with the picture on the board? It always had something to do with the potion, right? So they were making an exercise potion? Ewww. The redhead waited until he explained and then lit up again.
Yay, strength potion! The short girl didn't even know how much she wanted to be a superhero up until now. Lifting cars and saving maidens --or.... boy maidens-- from distress? Sounds pretty awesome, just saying. The five foot two girl could save the day, even with her slight frame! Da da da da! Yep, the twelve year old was kind of in heaven right now thinking of all of the possibilities. Because it was seemingly endless.
Anyway, super human strength sounded pretty awesome. Beat up bad guys and be AWESOME at quidditch. Yes. Sign her up immediately. And they got to work with dragon heart too? The dragon heart part kind of reminded her of an old television show she watched all of the time, but whatever. Dragons were awesome. That wasn't even an opinion. That was a completely true fact. Dragons are awesome.
Finishing writing every step in her journal, the girl tucked her shoulder length hair behind her ear, ready for action. Add two liters of water. Easy. But first potions of the year always were. Yes, the second year was already making assumptions about what happened every term. Which was probably jumping a little bit further than she needed to, but hopefully she would be wrong. Because there was too much normality in her life and the blue eyed girl hoped that Hogwarts was different. Less normality. And it already seemed to be happening. Which was good.
Anyway, liters of water and now a unicorn hair. Easy peasy. Eww, that was lame.

Upon feeling the nudge, AJ looked up to see who it was that had done it. She beamed when she saw the familiar face. "Hey Lex!" she remembered her from the robe shop surely. "It sure would take a lot less time though." Time that she could be using messing with the dragon heart. AJ actually did want to learn, but there were more important things that she would rather be doing.
Fine. "I'll give it a go." The sooner she mastered the spell, the sooner she could move on to the cool parts. She looked at the cauldron and tried to think of it like it was her bedroom and her mum was on her back about cleaning it. "Scourgify." she said while making the proper wand movement. Nothing. She stuck her head all the way in the cauldron just to be sure, and there was still no sign of it being cleaned.
Focus. All she needed to do was focus. She looked once more at Alexa and saw that she was still trying to encourage her. Thinking of nothing but a clean cauldron she tried the wand movement again. "Scourgify." Right before her very eyes her cauldron was cleaned. "It worked Lex." She exclaimed while tugging on the older girls robes.
Angel smiled at Adi. "Yes please." She whispered back, she was totally lost and totally scared about what she was supposed to do. she listed to the older girl say something about Scrubbing or something like that but she was too busy lost in her own daydream way. "Adi where is the cloth?" Angel had always cleaned something with a cloth. "And where is the bucket of water?" Angel was really confused now.

Cloth? Bucket of water? Adi nearly laughed out loud. But then he remembered that his friend was only a first year. And most likely came from a Muggle background. So instead he settle for a grin.
"We don't use either of those here. We use a charm instead. The incantation is Scourgify. Scour-gi-fy.'' Then, Adi demonstrated the wand movement. "Go on,'' he encouraged. "Try it. Make sure to concentrate on what you're doing. That's one of the key things to do when doing a spell.''
An excited professor was something nice to come to class to, but she wouldn't admit that. Pfft. She did though, grin broader when Jeremiah sat next to her, her stomach doing all kinds of little flips. "Hi," she whispered, shaking away from the professor's picture. Did he find it just as ridiculous and cool as she did? About to ask that, she partially deflated into her seat when the lesson started. Too soon.
Jotting down the ingredients, as well as the first step, Beverly set her quill down and strolled over to the front for the unicorn tail hairs. She was suddenly in her business mode, which consisted of somewhat pursed lips, and her brows pinched at the center of her forehead in concentration. Potions was a serious deal. One mistake and you blow off your eyebrows or worse, end up with a nasty face disfiguration. She's heard stories. SHUDDER.
Unicorn tail hairs in one hand, wand in the other, Beverly proceeded by CLEANING her cauldron first. Important step, people! "Scourgify!" The charm was cast properly as her cauldron gave a little glint in the light. Not that it had been filthy - Beverly Wayne takes great care of her potions materials.
Glancing beside her, she broke her business!face to send Jeremiah a grin, then quickly turned back to her cauldron. Heh. They were brewing a potion. Right next to each other. Heh. Right, potion. Snapping out of it, the Slytherin cast Aguamenti over the cauldron, stopping it at about - what she considered - two liters - and in the unicorn tail hairs went, one by one.
Strength potion? Was that mean they would have a Superman power after they drink the Potion?
Candice quickly copied the ingredients for the strength potion on the board to her notebook. Two kilograms of dragon heart? Was that came from one dragon?
Her father was a Healer and she helped her old man making potions a few times so she knew that she had to clean her stuffs before she start making potion. Its a good time to test her wand. Hehehe.
She was listening to the older Hufflepuff boy when he explained how to do the Cleaning Charms to the Ravenclaw girl in front of her. She wanted to ask the boy to do the Cleaning Charms for her too but she's super excited to try her wand.
"Okay, wand. Let's do this."
Her cauldron didn't look too dirty so maybe Scourgify would do the job. "Scourgify!" Nothing happened. Her cauldron still looked the same. "Scourgify!" Still nothing. Ugh. Come on wand, work! "Scourgify!" In a blink of an eye her cauldron was clean. SHE DID IT! Her first spell.
Now, she need to add two liters of water. She need the measuring cup for this that way she wouldn't messed up the measurement. Candice cleaned that up too before she used it. The water spell was a bit tricky. She looked around and saw Maddie got it done at her first trial. If the Ravenclaw could do it so could she. She repeated the incantation in her head over and over again.
Please wand I beg of you. You can do this Candice."Aguamenti!" Water came out from the tip of her wand. SHE DID IT AGAIN! Her father would be so proud. As soon as she got two liters of water, she stopped the spell.
Add the unicorn hairs one by one.
Sounds easy enough.
One.
Two.

Angel looked at Adi, they didn't use them, but that was the main thing to use when cleaning. She listened to what he said and she was a bit scared about what he had told her she had to do, oh how she wished cutie was there to give her a hand. "Okay then I'll try." Angel was really nervous now but well she would give it a go. "Scourgify." Angel said as she did the wand movement and it worked. "I did it, I did it." Angel beamed if only cutie was there she would have hugged him.
THIS PROFESSOR WAS AWESOME! HE COULD LIFT A CAR OVER HIS HEAD??
Exra had been busy looking at the picture of the guy on the board to really hear what all he was saying so when it was time to begin the only thing he'd heard was strengthening potion and something about a Heart.
Hopefully they wouldn't have to eat the heart. O__O
Looking around at the others as he squished his toes in his flip-flops that he found pushed underneath his bed because he'd lost his shoes the night before, Ezra tried to figure out what it was he was supposed to be doing. He squinted up at the board and saw that he needed to add some water...how'd he do that?
Ahhh. Some Hufflepuff boy (Toby) was saying they needed to clean their cauldrons first. Made sense he guessed, although he'd never made a potion before. "Scorgify!" Ezra shouted with a deep voice as he pointed at his cauldron.
Nothing happened.
Umm...he looked around and there were some other first years who seemed to be having trouble as well. At least he wasn't alone because that would be EMBARRASSING. He would have to keep trying. He looked over to try and find Alexa and she was telling someone the same thing.
Taking a deep breath like his mom did sometimes when he tracked mud into the house, he pointed his wand at the cauldron and said the spell much quieter. "Scorgify." For a second nothing happened but then the thing started to get clean! WOO! He moved the wand over the rest of the pewter thing and it finally got cleaned up. That was CRAZY. One of his first spells that actually worked.
Now for the water. Aguamenti was the right charm right? That was the one he'd always heard about. "Aguamenti." He said it in the same calm manner as before and a tiny stream of clear water came out.....and poured....and poured...and poured.
After what seemed like an eternity the first year finally had enough water. SUCCESS. BOOM POTIONS WAS EASY!
Oh wait, his notes. He should make some right?
SPOILER!!: Ezra's Notes
Ezra Earnest
First Year
Gryffindor
Potions Lesson 1
• 2 kilograms of dragon heart (a few grams more/less doesn’t matter)
• 1 pomegranate
• A cup of re’em blood
• One mature salamander’s blood
• 2 unicorn tail hairs
• Powdered griffin claw
• 2 snake fangs
1. Add 2 litres of water and the unicorn tail hairs one by one
Gwen squinted at the board to make out the words. The letters were swimming. She missed last term a little bit. Everybody being old meant that the teachers read out the instructions, and that was a lot easier for the girl than trying to read them herself.
First thing, she knew, was always to clean the cauldron. "Scourgify." There. That was done. Now what did the step on the board say? Would it be rude to step up to it so she could run her finger under the words while she read? Probably.
After a minute of focus she could read it. Two litres of water. "Aguamenti!" It struck her how much easier this was than last term. Last term she didn't know anything. She had to ask all the time how to do basic spells.
Then unicorn tail hairs. Ugh. She was going to have to sift through the list of ingredients on the board to find out how many unicorn tail hairs? Instead she just glanced around the room, watching how many everyone else was putting in. Two? Maybe three? She would just put in two, and if it didn't look right after that, add one more.
