Bathroom Redecorating Party Still not sure if it was safe to come inside, Lux slowly entered the room, merely because she trusted Ana. Moving so that she was beside the Slytherin, she nodded towards the other girls in a form of greeting since she did not know them yet. And finally the Professor was going to get his foot out of that bucket. Raising her brow, she watched curiously as the girl who had a guitar case freed him with some difficulty. Seriously, why had he stepped in a bucket? And more importantly, why was a man in the girl's bathroom?! o_O Opening her mouth to ask him, she stopped herself when he explained that he was only doing this for their safety so that they would not end up like Moaning Myrtle. Did a lot of people die in bathrooms at this school or something? The mention of a make over had her casting her eyes over the room and taking in just how dreary the environment was. "Professor, how do I make things change colour?" She felt stupid for asking, but she had no idea. Hopefully no one would laugh at her for not knowing. Sighing, she watched as one of the girls made the mirrors larger. Why couldn't she do magic properly like that? |
Ana nodded along with everything that was being said by mirror girl. Only half paying attention to the professor and his explanation. Which, well he didn't need to sound so offended did he? If she drew the wrong conclusions that wasn't her fault. It was his. He was the one that had been lurking after all. "Um... say I believe you. Why did they send you to patrol the girls bathroom? Surely a female teacher would have been a better choice?" Ana asked, raising her eyebrow. He did seem to be telling the truth but she was interested in the answer. At no other school that Ana had been too had they had a man in the girl's loo. That was just crazy stuff. Noting that mussed hair girl was now nowhere near Lux Ana stopped giving her the look. As long as Lux was standing next to Ana she knew she'd be safe. Or as safe as Ana could make her in any case. Still she'd keep an eye out for the girls safety while they were in the same place. Wait. Redecorating? Ana raised an eyebrow in slight disbelief as the Ravenclaw mentioned something about Feng Shui and Prof Airey asked about them turning the doors pink. Did he have to choose so stereotypical a colour? Like ugh. "If we're going to have a little party I think we should at least know each other's names. I can't keep calling you mirror faces girl and you mussed hair girl," Ana said as she gestured at each of the other girls in turn. "As you've probably gathered from Lux here I'm Ana," hi peoples. Now, give your names please. "Also, what type of song are we singing?" because as much as Ana was resisting rolling her eyes right now at the mere thought of what she was getting involved in she couldn't help her love of singing. She too was a performer, she was just less theatrical in day to day life than Miss Mirror. |
pre astro lesson *clarifies* and sorry...I couldn't resist not using this XD That was so Ravenclaw, Miss Konstantinova! Fidgeting just a little bit where he stood on one foot as the bucket was removed. He was a bit surprised to hear that the Headmistress had been offering suggestions to redecorate the Ravenclaw common room. Hadn't the woman been a Hufflepuff? "I wasn't aware that the Headmistress believed in Feng Shui," he replied. No wonder her and Calista got on and he and her did not. Among other things. "Thank you, Miss Andrews, for the bucket. Should find it a proper place in here so someone else does not trip over it." Knowing that he could not avoid the Slytherin's questions too much longer, he turned to look at her, red ears and all. "I wasn't specifically sent here, but I was passing by and wouldn't it be better to make a thorough sweep of a floor rather than leaves gaps. What if there had really been danger but I had skipped looking in just because I lacked the 'WO' and one different chromosome?" Ha. There. That made sense logically, yes? Moving on. He grinned, internally, when the Gryffindor took to his suggestion in a heartbeat and began working on the mirrors. "Stellar," he said, giving her a thumbs up. He was, of course, referring to the mirrors and not her modeling. Hadn't made that connection. "Ah, the charm is quite simple really," he nodded towards the Hufflepuff as he removed his wand from his charmed breast pocket. "There are two variations that I am aware of. What exactly is different is something you should consult your Charms professor on. One is Colovaria and the other is Colorus Revolvo. The wand movement is a bit simpler with Colorvaria, so let's roll with that one." Simple meant faster which meant more could be accomplished. Plus, he honestly had no clue what the difference was or if there even was one. He pointed his wand towards the sink nearest to him. "Colovaria," he commanded and the sink turned pink almost instantly. "Just need to concentrate on the color you want the thing to change into." OH MUSIC! "An EXCELLENT SUGGESTION!" he exclaimed as he took one giant step towards the guitar. He was already ready to channel his musical theater and Hogwarts Frog Choir background. "And I think I know the perfect song for this occasion...if you don't mind my taking that bucket back...please," he said as he took the bucket, turned it upside down, and leaped upon it before he started singing. "Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely woooooorld. She took the midnight train goin' aaaaaaaaaaanywheeeeeeeere..." Were there songs more fitting to the whole cleaning and working situation? Sure. But no fun in singing about working while you were working, yeah? Might as well do something uplifting and surely these girls knew this classic. |
Baha Now I'm remembering Kendall singing in DA. The song. ;) Redecorating party The longer the whole situation went on, the more it started to seem even stranger as well. Lily wasn’t entirely sure if she wanted to stay or find a way to escape, but there were other more important things first. Namely, getting the bucket off of Professor Flamsteed’s foot. At least then she would have felt like she’d accomplished something that nobody could take credit for. Plus, the accusations against the professor had died off somewhat, aside from the almost rhetorical question of why he’d been patrolling the girls’ bathroom, so there was that too. “I didn’t know she did either, but she was moving the couches around and everything,” she replied almost offhandedly, before she smiled at the direct comment. Thank you for noticing, she thought. “You’re welcome, Professor. And of course,” she said instead. There wasn’t any reason to seem rude, even if she still felt the sting of not being recognized for getting the girl out of the bathroom stall, who was now enlarging the mirror. Besides, she had already moved the bucket out of the way of everyone’s feet anyway. Not to mention she was still trying to stay out of the redecorating, if only because she wasn’t really a big fan of pink. She’d gone back to wondering what Myrtle would think if they turned her bathroom entirely pink and girly, however, until she heard the Gryffindor say something about her guitar. “Uh, yeah. I’m not sure if…” she began, trailing off as the redhead had decided now was the best time for introductions. Ana had earned a bit of a look from the brunette at the comment about her hair being mussed, though. That was definitely not her name, and her hair was obviously not mussed anymore too. Obviously at least Professor Flamsteed knew who she was, but for everyone else… “I’m Lily.” Not mussed hair girl, and preferably not their music box either. She hoped that Lux’s question about color charms would distract everyone from the guitar. Plus, she wasn’t feeling comfortable enough to show off her singing in this group. Apparently the professor wasn’t quite as shy as she was, as Lily had moved protectively in front of her guitar case when he’d suddenly lunged toward it. Or maybe it had been the bucket, which she was all too willing to give up. He could have the bucket, as long as it meant nobody was touching her guitar. Her eyes had widened again as he’d suddenly burst into song, however. If she played would that mean she could get out of actually singing? It was worth a try, and she’d also thought that maybe she could inch toward the door while she played. Escape still sounded good, but until she could manage it, she’d have to blend in. Taking her guitar out, she checked the tuning quickly before playing the accompaniment to his singing. At least he’d chosen a good song. |
Were those wrinkles? Gwen had been contentedly humming to herself while washing her hands when she noticed. She had wrinkles and the edges of her eyes. What? She was eleven, and happy! Mostly. She leaned closer, hoping it was a trick of the light, but no such luck. She was getting crows feet around her pretty blue eyes. It wasn't fair. There had to be a way to clear that up, right? Like face-defining cream? Her mom had some. She would just write home and get it shipped to her and they would clear up without a problem. It was probably just all the stress of learning all about a new world. Also, she tended to do a lot of squinting in classes. Especially Ancient Runes. No more squinting. If she couldn't make something out, oh well, because failing was probably better than wrinkles at age 11. |
Charms #3 The loo wasn't a proper place to practice spells, but the entire of Slytherin was chatty at the common room and...she didn't want them to see her fail...if she failed again. Which she wouldn't because, DARN IT, she was going to succeed. Glad that Myrtle wasn't roaming around, she dropped her bag and drew her wand out and looked into a mirror. Ugh. Ugh. Wrinkles everywhere. The only part of her that remained unchanged was her eyes. A kaleidoscope of grays and greens. Getting her head back into gear, she held the wand over her head. Okay. Intent. It was all in the mind. Breathing in regularly, then counting to ten she concentrated on an image in her head. She wanted her wavy brown hair back. Sure, it was a lot of hair to deal with, but she could do it. She wanted it. "Senectus Reversus!" She waved her wand and held her breath. With a wave of relief her hair darkened from the roots all the way to the ends. Turning her head from side to side, she didn't see any more gray or white. "I did iiiiiit!" she whispered to herself, twirling a strand of hair. Apparently intent and the mind were the trick here. With a grin pasted on her lips, she collected her stuff and left. Who knew the loo was a great place for peace and concentration? |
