Oh! Was it soup time? "Yes, I am!'' He could smell it from where he sat and it smelled great! Els was probably a great cook! "You cook a lot?'' he asked curiously, watching her stir the soup. Could she make him cupcakes sometime? Because he loved those! |

See? Washing the dishes by hand hadn't been so bad. It had even provided a little time for some decompression. For both of them. Schuyler felt a bit better. "Mhmmm, all finished." She dried her hands on the towel that was in Olly's hands, then brushed off her clothes in case there was any stray flour on them. Good as new. Spick and span. And all that.. |

Her telling him that she'd had worse didn't really make him feel that much better, in fact it didn't make him feel better at all. If it wasn't bad enough that she had gotten hurt because of him but he had lied to her about the reason why he had let go of the pot. He had never lied like to anyone like that before and he wanted to tell her the truth but he didn't want her mad at him either. Ugh! This was so confusing. He managed to give her a small smile because he wasn't too sure what was going to come out of his mouth he opened it to say something. He couldn't help but grin though at the way she talked about herself. "You sound so much like my mother, you know? She insists on doing everything herself. My dad encourages it but sometimes I think he would like it if she let him do stuff for her." It was only now that Michael understood how he felt. He wanted to help Alexa but he would not push her. "I'm sure she'll fix you up good as new." Michael had to bite on his bottom lip to stop himself from bursting into laughter. "Scraper." He corrected with a small cough to cover up the laugh. "It's a flat type of blade, not as sharp as a knife, but just enough to lift hard stuff of floors and walls." It made him feel good to be able to tell her stuff about muggle equipment especially since he was constantly going to her to learn more magic. "And I suppose a spell would work. What one though? I suppose we could melt the chocolate again and then use the cleaning spell or the siphoning charm." They would work, right? |
Quote:
Giggle. Yep. No holding it back this time. Fake beard rubbing was pretty funny. "Cookies it is." She was about to ask what kind of cookies, when he mentioned he liked chocolate. "Double chocolate chip cookies?" She raised an eyebrow. Those were some of her favorites. |
SPOILER!!: Mikey <3 In all her reassuring him she managed to get a smile out of him. Good. She didn't need him feeling guilty about something that wasn't his fault. Really, she dropped things all the time....just not scorching hot things that left a mark but saying that wouldn't have made him feel any better so she kept it to herself. "I think I've already mentioned that I think you're mum's awesome, right?" When they were back at the candy shop over the summer and they were comparing parents. The similarities between them were striking and she'd decided that his mum sounded fierce. She liked that in people. "I can't see why he'd want to do things for her if he knows she's perfectly capable of doing them herself. It's like a waste the way I see it." She added a simple smile and a shrug. If she could get it done on her own she would try to. "And I hope she does. Scars are cool, just not on my thigh." It was just a thing, you know? And what was so funny? The look of amusement was clear on his face even if he said nothing. Oh? Scraper? Was there a difference....? Instead of questioning it, she listened to his explanation. Like a knife but not a knife...muggles were weird. Lex just blinked. They had to wait on the chocolate to melt again tooooo?? "Erm either of those will work--unless you wanna use the scraper of course." She kinda wanted to see how those worked.... |
SPOILER!!: Lex! "Yeah you did." He said with a grin. "And yeah she is pretty awesome." It wasn't something that he admitted very often though, but that was because she was his mum and teenagers didn't talk about their parents that way. Michael let out a small laugh. Of course Alexa would think like that, she was a strong willed girl. "It must be a male thing I guess. We have it ingrained into us that we should look after our women." It took him a moment to realise what he had just said and his face went a little red. "Women in general is what I meant." He didn't mean to imply that he thought Alexa was his woman. He raised his eyebrows at the scar comment. "You have scars? Where and what from?" He had a few himself, but when you restore muggle cars and climb trees and wrestle garden gnomes, well scars were to be expected. It was good to know that either of those spells he mentioned would work. The problem was, he wasn't entirely confident in pulling them off. He was all for having a go though, but only after he showed Alexa what he was talking about with the scraper. Moving over to one of the drawers, Michael rummaged around the utensils until he found what he was looking for. He held it up to show her before getting down on his hands and knees and began scraping off the chocolate. "Like all muggle things, it's rather time consuming." He looked over to her. "Did you want to have a go?" |

But onto a better conversation. Scars! "O'course I do. What decent, self-respecting girl doesn't have scars?" The idea was ridiculous. What'd they do, live in a bubble half their life? She twisted her arm a bit to reveal a faded mark. "Got this one scaling my neighbours wall with two of my friends. We were trying not to get caught after we cut the heads of her hedge sculptures." Fun day that was. "One by my wrist from a fight with a kid from my old school. He scratched me with his fingernails, I gave him a black eye." More than a black eye actually but he deserved it. "I have a few more but most of my injuries resulted in something being broken or fractured. And you?" This was actually helpful. It was making her forget about this horrid burn that only seemed to be hurting more with time. Weren't these things meant to feel better after the initial burn??? Clearly this burn never got the memo. Alexa watched him get down and begin scraping away at the ground. "You're right, that does look time consuming." Hardly worth the effort when a wave of a wand could get it done and much better too. So no, she didn't want a try |

Oh Merlin!! He had said the wrong thing. He was going to have to learn to keep his mouth shut on things he had absolutely no idea about and stop listening to the way his fathers and uncles talked. Michael held up his hands and backed away from her a little just in case she got really mad. "I didn't mean it that way, I just... He trailed off. "I'm sorry. I have no idea what I am talking about." Clearly. Maybe this was something he should talk to his mother about. Eh... Now. Scars were something he did know a lot about. And apparently so did Alexa and not only that she had a few to show him. "Impressive." He murmured as he looked at each scar she showed him. The girl led a very adventurous life. With a grin he held up his arm which showed a scar that was still a faint red on the inside of his arm. "This one is from the bark of a tree shredding my skin open. I was trying to slow my descent from falling out of the tree." Apparently wrapping your arms around the trunk does not work. He then lifted his pant leg to show her the back of his calf where a faded perfect circle sat. "This is what happens when you stand to close to an exhaust pipe on a motorcycle." And while your mother was revving it. That one had hurt the most. "And this one..." He lifted his shirt a fraction to show her a scar that definitely looked like a set of teeth. "Is from a garden gnome. I had shoved it down my shirt because I was trying to smuggle it home and it bit me." And he had been too scared to tell his parents about it. That was until it got infected and he had no choice. "Seems like you and I kept the Healers busy." Between the two of them they probably kept them rich too. He didn't think she would want to try it but he thought he would ask anyway. Michael got back to his feet and tossed the scraper back onto the bench. "So magic it is then. Melt it and then siphon?" |
SPOILER!!: Mikey Er....Lex blinked at him. Okay then..."You're apologizing again." She pointed out, after a minute or two of just staring at him. It didn't matter that he wasn't directly apologizing about her busted Leg, it was still an apology and she wasn't very much in the mood for those right now. "I don't suspect you'd know much about it considering you're probably not into that kind of thing in the first place and don't think of any girl like that. It's just other boys. Nothing for you to apologize for." Seriously. She beamed at him. "Thanks! They were worth it too, all my scars and fractures usually are." They were usually a necessary evil in order for her to have fun. Nothing she couldn't overlook if needed. Lex wasn't the type to cry over every bump and bruise. It's kinda why she was pulling such a brave face here. Chocolate frogs were worth it....'cept they wouldn't be having any afterall. Sigh. Lex focused on him while he spoke of his scars. The first two she could excuse but the last was an unecessary injury. One he should learn from. "You went about it the wrong way. If you wanna smuggle something home you have to use a stunning spell on it or a petrifying one preferably, then bound it and stick it in the bottom of your trunk provided you put an undetectable expansion charm on the trunk first to make sure everything fits. You'll wanna keep applying the spell for as long as you can before the no magic rule comes into play." So maybe even on the ride home to be safe. "Heh, yeah, we do. Mine get concerned real easy, think they called child services a few times too." Muggles worried FAR TOO MUCH for her taste. And the chocolate cleaning. She had this in a one step spell. "Deletrius!" She watched as the chocolate disintegrated under the power of the spell. "Deletrius!" This was the fastest way of getting it off the ground and soon it was all gone. "There. We can go now." |

Cookies! Brilliant. "Steller," he said as he gave his 'instructor' two thumbs up. "So...how do we start this?" |
Quote:
She placed her mug down near Adi before she went back to the soup, and started to spoon it into the bowls for them. "Hm? Oh. Sometimes. I make cakes with my best friend. And I make the second best bacon in the universe." Coulson took first place. "My pancakes are brillllllllll too." Not tooting her own trumpet or anything. She hadn't mentioned the fact that her spaghetti was INSAAAAAAAAANE. |
Quote:
It meant they were finished here, yeah? Meaning they would...well, part ways? That sounded quite cheesy actually. She glanced over at the pile of pancakes still on the table. "I think the ducks may have to wait until tomorrow." Because honestly, as much as she didn't want to leave, Olly didn't feel like going outside and feeding pancakes to ducks right now. Somehow she felt too exhausted to do anything. She couldn't even come up with something witty to say. |

Well trust him to have a crush on a girl who was totally oblivious to how he felt about her. Okay so he had not come right out and told her but he figured that him wanting to spend time with her and always doing her favourite things would have given her some kind of clue. Maybe he needed to look at her a certain way or...something. He would have to think on this one a bit more. "Right. Other boys. No apologising." Eh...if only she knew. "They're kind of like trophies." Well that's how he looked at it anyway. It was a showcase of all the adventurous things he had done and something he could brag about to his friends. As she went onto explain the methods of smuggling in a garden gnome, Michael couldn't help but smile and look at her with such wonder and admiration. The ideas she came up with were ingenious. "Well there's only one problem with that." Actually there were a couple. "I don't know how to do any of those spells." Well except for the body bind curse. He knew how to do that one. It was one of the first spells he head learned when he got to Hogwarts. Now Michael knew a few muggle things but really not a whole lot. "What is child services?" It didn't sound like something nice that's for sure. He watched with fascination as she cleaned up all the chocolate and he almost applauded her efforts. "Oh yeah, sure. Let's go." |
We're sorry but she's naturally oblivious to most things XD SPOILER!!: Mikey "You okay...?" He was agreeing with her, a normal indicator that one was fine, but he didn't have much conviction in it if you asked her. Lex gave him a curious look. "You don't have to be so down about it, apologizing comes natural to most people." Most. Not her. Alexa was deliberate in everything she did. If it hurt someone's feelings or made them feel worse, it was usually on purpose, therefore leaving very little need for apologies. There were exceptions of course, but they were few and far between. Yes! Omg! "You understand!! Some people can't see what's so great about them, they probably haven't actually lived, you know?" Like how have you enjoyed children while never having skinned your knee or bruised your elbow? It just didn't seem possible. Lex grinned at his objection. "I thought you said there were problems. Those are easily taken care of. I can show you then you can try smuggling home a niffler this time. I'll help you break it out of the Creature Sanctuary too if you want." The glint of mischief was alive in her eyes again at the thought of attempting something like that. "We'll have to silence it too but that's all petty stuff, child's play really." They were actually going to do this, right? She wanted to, just to see if she could and to show Mikey the proper way of smuggling creatures out of Hogwarts. Oh, he probably didn't know that much about muggle systems, huh? Lex tilted her head, trying to find the right way to explain it. "They're like...people who come and take your kids away if you treat them badly. They thought Daddy was the reason I had all those bruises and broken bones but pffft, if anything he tries to prevent them. Muggles can be dense sometime." And she meant that in the nicest way possible....probably. And now they could go. She gave a gesture of her hands. "After you." |
Quote:
Cakes? Super Els said cakes, didn't she? "Cupcakes, too? I like cupcakes.'' Yep. Complete with loads of frosting and sprinkles. Yummy! And second best? "Who's first?'' Adi asked curiously. Who was better at bacon making than his Els? Pancakes too? Was there anything she could not make? "I won't mind trying the pancakes sometime,'' he said innocently before taking another sip. Or anything else she made for that matter. |

Either she was far too observant or he totally sucked at trying to keep things from her. "Yeah of course." He said flashing her a grin. And he could not keep lying to the girl either because she was going to start picking up on that as well. But he couldn't bring himself to tell her what was really on his mind, he needed to work it out himself first. As for the apologising well it seemed to be only around her that he was doing it. Mikey shrugged his shoulders. "Bad habit I guess." "Pssh of course I understand." She did know who she was talking to, right? "Yeah. I bet you wouldn't find a Ravenclaw with scars." That probably wasn't true actually. His Aunt Cela probably had some and Plymouth most definitely did. But eh...whatever. He wasn't particularly interested in a Niffler but he wasn't about to say that Lex though. Not when she was wearing such an excited look on her face and it meant that he got spend more time with her. No matter that they were going to be committing a crime so to speak. That didn't matter. "Sounds good to me. When should we do it?" Oh. That didn't sound very good. Mikey was glad that this 'child services' did not take her away. "Sounds pretty dramatic." Muggles really did have some weird ways. Could they not leave together? Michael turned on his heel and made his way toward the exit. |
Quote:
She let out a little giggle. "We need flour, sugar, butter, baking soda, salt, an egg, and the chocolate." Yes that sounded like a lot, but baking. "I already have all the measuring stuff out." |
Quote:
Lists. Yes. Airey approved of lists and could remember those. "Roger that," he said while giving the girl a salute before heading towards the refrigerator. Baking soda...baking soda...baking soda... Eh, this was soda and if you used it while baking it counted as baking soda, right? That was the logical conclusion at least. So it was, with a bottle of cream soda in his hand along with the butter and egg, that he returned to where Miss Adams stood and set it on the counter. |
Forrest :) Tora looked around, lightly bouncing on the balls of her feet. She double checked the scrap of paper saying to meet in the kitchen, and grinned. It had been forever since she had seen Forrest! She was sure her friend would have something interesting to do and she was just itching to know what it was. It could, of course, be something entirely banal and not something at all worth being curious about... but then Tora would just have to come up with something herself! She wandered about the kitchen, peeking into cupboards and wondering why she didn't come here more often. The badgers were super lucky to have a place like this so close to their den. In order to get here, Tora would have to climb down stairs and stairs and more stairs that were in danger of moving every two seconds and well, it was just simpler that she didn't ever come from Ravenclaw Tower since she was never there, really. As she continued to explore (finding a wonderful box of crackers in the process) she thought up all the reasons why she didn't like staying in Ravenclaw Tower. One: The door knocker to get in. After climbing all the way up there sometimes you had to stay out and sit there waiting until someone could finally figure out the answer to the riddle posed. What if someone wanted to just run in and out because they forgot something? Two: The millions of steps. It took forever to get all the way up there! And it was so far away from everything else... Three: She didn't need to go in there she had all her stuff with her in her bag. Four..... the list just went on and on. She was up to Reason Eleven (The door wasn't secretly hidden like the other houses and therefore boring) when she tripped over her distracted self and crash landed. She decided it would just be safer for her if she continued her train of thought from the floor. |
Quote:
She smiled and began to set out the mixing things so that they would actually be useful while Flamsteed went off to get the stuff they would need. He was back before she knew it. Addi looked up at what he'd brought and raised an eyebrow at the bottle of cream soda. "You can't use that kind of soda for baking. Here." She went over to the shelves where it was kept and grabbed the baking soda along with the flour. "This is baking soda." She showed him the bag. |
Quote:
"Why the term soda then," he said as he picked up the bag the Slytherin was presenting him. Domestic things were more foreign to him than UFO's. But then he got to thinking for a moment. "OH! I get it now. Soda comes from soda ash, which is the compound sodium carbonate....and this soda is short for sodium as in sodium bicarbonate most likely. Yes?" |
Quote:
"Anyways on to measuring!" Adelaide laid out her notebook so that he could see it as well. "I wrote how much we need of what down. You can start with the baking soda if you want." Since it was already in his hands. |

...........right?! He'd worn his BEST clothes (jeans, sneakers and a T-shirt depicting London), put on some perfume and showered that morning to be as clean as he could. Tora wasn't his girlfriend--EW--but he knew it was polite to show he cared about her. He cared about her. He cared about her so much that he'd spent a considerable amount of time in front of mirror to check how he looked and now he was late, but he couldn't even RUN because he was afraid of sweating and stinking. She might not have thrown him out of her friends' list, but he was sure she would question his friendship now. Well.....WELL.....entering the kitchens at last with a smiling face--because he was a teenager now and he knew girls couldn't resist teenager smiles--he looked for her for a while before his eyes settled on a figure on the floor. "Errr, Tora?" His smile was gone and he rushed to kneel down by her side. "Are you alrigh'?" His voice broke down on the last syllables like a MAN's voice that was settling down. He had to admit, it sounded awful but it also meant he was becoming a MAN. Did she notice THAT? |
Quote:
"Want some?" she asked before adding, "I'm all good! I was just thinking and it was safer on the floor." she grinned a bit bigger than normal as she stopped herself from imitating his voice crack. No need to make fun of him after so long not seeing each other. She jumped up onto one of the counters and her questions started buzzing through her head. Well, there was just one thing to do and she wasn't going to get answers if she didn't ask any questions! "So what's up? Did you want to do anything fun today? Why the owl? You know you can just come over to the Ravvie table whenever you don't have to be so secretive," she paused to let those questions sink in and to notice an interesting smell that seemed to get stronger when she neared Forrest. So he was wearing cologne? Why? She thought it would be best to let that question go while he answered her current ones. |
Quote:
And yes, he probably was going to compare everything they did today to Astronomy. Made him feel more comfortable in unfamiliar territory. Speaking of those exact measurements....the astronomer looked over the notebook with a scientific eye before he began measuring everything out. This didn't seem so bad. Why had he and Miss Greenwell failed so horribly before? |
