Kat had listed all the herbs found in the Ravenclaw tea on her parchment so that she could think of the relations to the characteristics of the other house people. The Hufflepuff one was okay... maybe accurate in some ways, she could say. She wrote notes on her parchment as she sipped on her tea. It tasted okay too. Did tea even taste bad? Kat had never tried tea that wasn’t even good. Not that she wanted to know how it tasted, you know? She wasn’t giving ideas away. So Ravenclaw tea has Earl Grey black tea? She didn’t know what that was, so probably the textbook held answers. It had lavender too, and as well as gingko and and peppermint. That probably explained the little minty flavor, then? And a bit more of sipping from her tea cup. At least it was still warm...

She then turned back to her textbook and flipped the pages in search for these certain herbs. Then she wrote the relations on her parchment. Pretty interesting stuff she got from the Ravenclaw tea, yes.

Hufflepuff

Caraway – Could be used in many kinds of food, apparently. Isn’t the Hufflepuff Common Room near the kitchen? The plant also prefers warm and sunny places so that could be related to the Hufflepuff color, yellow. That’s all from me.
Chickweed – It’s sort of calming, they say. So Hufflepuffs are kind of calming too. Disclaimer: Unless they eat ice cream
Licorice – A simple herb that is used in love potions. Hufflepuffs apparently are simple and seem to loooooove everyone
Hawthorn leaf and flower – Fertility power? Carrying one in a sachet while going on a fishing trip will, apparently ensure you have a good catch. This probably has something to do with “Hufflepuffs are good finders.” Sort of, not really.

Ravenclaw

Earl Grey black tea – It has another variation, which is ‘Lady Grey’. Is that coincidental? Isn’t the Grey Lady the house ghost for Ravenclaw? Maybe that was it? That seemed interesting.
Lavender - Attracts love. How weird. It has some properties such as happiness and peace. That’s cool, I guess? Also an ingredient in sleeping potions. Ravenclaws definitely need to calm themselves down, especially when they study a bit too much.
Gingko – People use it for memory enhancement. And we all know that Ravenclaws are just so smart. There’s no surprise to why that’s gingko in here anyway.
Peppermint – Used in healing lotions and potions, as well as in aiding sleep. Kind of similiar to the one in lavender, I guess?

Vesper was looking forward to tasting the Slytherin tea for various reasons. One being all the friends she'd made in that house, including West, Theodore, and Ascanius...among others. Maybe she would finally understand Ascanius after trying this tea. You know, the 'vain' thing.

He was a prideful boy; something that had always struck Ves as extremely odd. There was so much insecurity in that house that simply didn't need to be. People were wonderful how they were...but some couldn't just hear those words and take it as facts. Insight would've been nice because watching didn't tell her much. Slytherins were good at hiding things she'd learned...and really, she could only stalk them so much.

Right...so pulling the box up, it also got a thorough inspection. 'Nettles' and 'hibiscus' stood out at her among the ingredients and Ves smiled, Interesting, indeed.

Pulling the Slytherin cup closer towards her, she got some leaves out and placed them in it's bottom. Scolding water joined them a moment later and it was left to stew itself for several moments. Because that's what tea leafs did...Stewed.

More doodling happened while Vesper waited...

Kat pretty much finished the whole cup with the Ravenclaw tea. Well, what can she do? It did taste okay and possible a bit better than the Hufflepuff one. That was her opinion anyway. With those two house teas done, Kat was ready to choose another one. Well, she didn’t have to actually CHOOSE anymore because it was, for sure, the Gryffindor tea coming up next. She was saving the Slytherin one for last. And Merlin, she already knew what to expect from the Gryffindor tea. They’ve definitely got the heart of a lion. Kat had done a nonverbal Tergeo and as well as a Scourgify on her tea cup, just making sure. She didn’t want the teas to mix and all because the taste would be different than what she was supposed to expect. “Aguamenti,” she said and filled her cup with water and then followed with a “Chaudensis."

Was she supposed to enjoy the Gryffindor tea, by the way?

She took a sip from her tea. A small sip and then she had to swallow what had entered her mouth and coughed a bit. COUGHCOUGHCOUGH. That was pretty bitter and gross. Merlin, she was never never trying that again. She could definitely tell how strong it was too. Definitely Gryffindor, no doubt. Kat cringed a bit and then set her tea cup aside. Nope, she wasn’t going to try any more of the Gryffindor tea. She then scribbled on her parchment.

Plus, she might need water. Like right now.

It was time for Slytherin teeeeea.

Pulling the stylish cup closer, she looked down at it first, STILL loving the design of these cups. They were so pretty. Really, she wanted a set....What would she need to do to convince her mother and father? Whatever it would take, really, is what she'd be prepared to do. Kinda like convincing them to pack up and leave France...

Grinning to herself...she lifted the cup and smelled, just as she had with the previous house teas. It was important to get a handle on the fragrance before one could appreciate the flavor; something her mother used to say...or still said. Not past tense. She wasn't dead.

Heh! There was an edge to this smell, probably coming from the hibiscus. The smell was so telling, too...Edgy, cool, with bursts of mint...Shrugging, Ves took the first few experimental sips, allowing the flavor to kinda wash over her taste buds.

Hmm. It was definitely a different kind of flavor...and there was also something kinda sophisticated about it. Not outright...but underlying. Like, you almost couldn't even tell it was there. The mint was still present, giving it a chilling aftertaste. Tartness, too...Vesper liked the tea. It was probably her favorite thus far.

Taking several more sips, she continued to hold it in one hand and jot notes with the other.

Her not-so pleasant experience with the Gryffindor tea made Kat wish that the Slytherin tea didn't taste so bad. They didn't taste bad. SHE didn't taste bad either, right? If she was a tea, you know, she'd want to actually seem pretty good and taste bud-friendly. Who didn't, anyway? But yeah, whatever. Kat had to identify the herbs in the Gryffindor tea, so she took another look at the herbs and then listed them all down on her parchment. Dandelion leaf was an ingredient. And then borage too. So was basil and... what? What was that? Kat squinted at tea bag.

... Sars-what? Sarspanilla? NO. That was sarsparilla. Someone had to make the text a bit bigger, you know? Just saying. And yeah, sarsparilla was another herb in the Gryffindor tea. Remind Kat never to drink any tea with those herbs.

Gryffindor

Dandelion leaf - The plant is used in treating infections. Maybe that sort of made sense because Gryffindors are pretty much loyal to something and they'd want to protect this thing or person from getting hurt.
Borage - The plant is used to restore courage and used for colds. Well, that seems self-explanatory enough.
Basil - Same with the dandelion leaf. Basil is used in treating infections and bites and stings. I could relate that a bit to Gryffindor... except for the biting part. Alice Fischer is the biter.
Sarsparilla - Also the same with the dandelion leaf and basil. It's used for medicinal purposes and that stuff... yeah. Still the same.

Just one more tea. SLYTHERIN TEA. And then she would be done. Fingers crossed that the Slytherin tea tasted good.

Regretfully setting that cup to the side, Vesper grabbed for the last and grinned. It was Ravenclaw time!

Placing it front and center in front of her, the Ravenclaw grabbed for the last tea box and took a gander at the ingredients. Mostly because she was curious about them...and how they'd relate to her house. Made sense, yea?...to be curious about ones own house...

Ooooh. Earl grey black tea! Oddly enough, Ves's favorite. It was also her mother's favorite. Did that mean her mum would've been a Ravenclaw, too? Maybe? The other ingredients included lavender, ginkgo, and peppermint....She was already in love. Perfect tea was perfect.

Getting it ready, she went ahead and opened up the box, selecting leaves to fill the bottom of the cup. After finishing with that, the water was added...and she was left, once again, waiting for it to stew. That basically meant more doodle time...

Waiting...waiting...waiting....

Kat was, deep inside, really glad that this would be the last tea she'd be drinking. After drinking three teas with different taste and flavors, she just couldn't wait to leave. Also, she was starting to feel like she might excuse herself so she could take a visit to the Prefects' Bathroom. Bladder was starting to fill up after all the drinking she had done. Though she still had one more tea to drink, she could still manage it. She'd willing drink the Slytherin tea in order to take the bitter taste of the Gryffindor tea off her tongue.

"Tergeo," she pointed her wand inside her tea cup and all of the leftover tea was gone. No more Gryffindor tea for her. It tasted a bit... meh. "Scourgify." Now her cup was clean and free of tea and dirt. That was how it was supposed to be anyway.

She then took a Slytherin tea bag and placed it in her cup. Last one. That thought wouldn't leave her mind. She was just filled of relief. "Aguamenti..." And water came out of the tip of her wand, which then stopped with her nonverbal Finite. "Chaudensis." Warm tea. Last one. She could handle this last one. Taking a sip, Kat blinked a few times. Tasted good. Kat liked it, but her tummy couldn't handle more so she placed the cup down. She'd take small sips again after writing notes about the herbs.

Alright! That's enough of that Ravenclaw blend. Megh! "Aquamenti!" He said pointing his wand into the cups of Gryffindor, the house into which he was almost sorted and Slytherin. He followed this up with a "Chaudensis!" spell times two, which sounded incredibly French to him and not entirely unlike a spell he'd seen his father work in the kitchen a time or two before.

While the Gryffindor and Slytherin teas steeped, he decided to have a looksie at Hufflepuff's tea. One by one, the boy's skinny fingers plucked out the different looking components of the tea. Until he had an assortment of five. He picked up ones that looked remarkably like tiny dried bananas and dragged it against his tongue. Al-karawya. Yup. He plopped into his mouth and chewed releasing the flavour and liking that one quite a bit. The next thing he picked up was something dark-coloured and not very distinguishable from, say a wood chip or twig. He brought up the little speck to his nose and smelled it...a bit too hard. And the light-weight little object went up one nostril and traveled to the back of Cutty's throat before he could do more than make a worried face. Please be mundane! Please be mundane! Please be mundane! He coughed a little and registered the familiar scent. Licorice roots!

The last two things which he'd picked out looked as different as night and day; dried white blossoms and multi-lobed leaves. Their scent was even different, although there was some hint of similarity. Time to consult the book again, as Cutty plainly had no idea what he was dealing with. He stopped when he saw an image of a small tree, or maybe it was a shrub with dainty white blossoms upon it. Closer inspection revealed that the leaves were lobed, but maybe not in the same way. It was very hard to tell. He ventured a guess.

Vesper let this one sit a bit longer than she had the others...but that was just because she was excited about tasting it...and wanted to make sure all the flavors had time to diffuse throughout the water. Tea lover, okay? It was a good thing this was the topic of today's lesson...because otherwise, she was ultimately terrible at Herbology. Plants didn't normally like her as a rule.

Mean plants.

Anyway, once it was finished sitting, Ves plucked the cup up and SNIFFED deeply. Oh, it smelled classic and equally sweet; something clearly coming from the black tea leaves, lavender, and ginkgo...There was also a minty-tone that was immediately relaxing to her senses. Kinda like when someone was baking apple pie...and before you even took a bite, you knew it was going to be satisfying and utterly delicious. This was similar to that.

Feeling her mouth water just a little bit, she didn't torture herself too much and went ahead, diving in to the taste. Her sips were deeper with this one. It was so goooood. She'd actually drained the cup before setting it back down, a quietly embarrassed look in place. No one was looking at her, right? As casual as possible, Ves pulled out more leaves and put them in the cup...and then poured more water.

While that sat a moment, she'd reflect.

The Ravenclaw tea was sweet and minty also in taste; the smells matching up in that way and giving away hints. It also tasted a bit timeless...if 'timeless' had a flavor. She assumed this would match up with her house in individuality...but it also paired perfectly with her artistic nature. Not necessarily in any medium...but with the mind. Heh, she wasn't making much sense to herself...but Ves knew the gist of what she was trying to get across.

It made her think about Dora and Blue...and Marcus and Nigel; about how individual they were and different in their ways of thinking, classic, and brilliant. She was not confident that it really applied to her that much with the smartness...since she struggled with things...but she'd always have her artistic thing.

HOGWARTS HOUSE TEAS

Hufflepuff: Sweet, hearty, and full-bodied; A happy tea.
Caraway: Since this is also used in many foods, I think that speaks about the Hufflepuff apetite. They're always in the kitchens eating. But that could also be because that's where they're housed.
Chickweed: This plant is calming and grows everywhere in the world. There are Hufflepuffs everywhere. *makes a point*
Licorice: Sweet, loving, and pleasant. Just like all the Hufflepuffs I've met.
Hawthorn leaf and flower: Promotes luck, health, and beauty...I don't really know if this applies to just Hufflepuffs, though. I mean, there are a lot of beautiful people at our school...Along with lucky and healthy. *shrug*

Gryffindor: Bitter, abrasive, and healthy; A fighter's tea.
Dandelion leaf: Used for treating infections. Maybe that means that Gryffindors are good at treating infections? Perhaps they go on to be great healers?
Borage: The plant of courage! Gryffindors are all pretty courageous...from what I've seen. Courageous, protective, and violent.
Basil: Also used for curing bites and stings, as well as healing infections; I think this just means they're a really healthy bunch. And are fighters...like their immune systems.
Sarsparilla: Also for curing things. Lots of things about curing infections. So, the Gryffindors are clearly the healthiest out of all the houses.

Slytherin: Edgy, cool, but with a kick; A sarcastic / sophisticated tea.
Horsetail: Used in things that cleanse. Slytherins seem pretty clean. *nod* And I read somewhere it's used in shampoo. Slytherin boys have amazing hair.
Nettles: A protective herb. Slytherins are definitely protective of their own and don't mince words when showing it either. That's so totally them.
Lemon balm: Used in attracting honey bees and for a lot of things concerning health and brain function. Slytherins are smart and attractive. Almost deceptively so. Take West and Ascanius for example. I think I've made my point.
Hibiscus: Tarty but beautiful. Well...Slytherins are sassy. I guess it's talking about their sass. Have you met Theodore Kinsley? *makes another point*

Ravenclaw: Classic, sweet, and cool; An artistic tea.
Earl Grey black tea: Timeless and classic, but also called "Lady Grey". That's our house ghost but in reverse, who is also classic and timeless.
Lavender: Loving, happy, and peaceful. I think we're all those things...We care about each other as a house and according to Marcus and Nigel, we're also number one in fun? That could be the happy thing. Idk.
Gingko: A memory enhancer. My housemates are so very smart with incredible memories. My memory isn't that great...That's why I write so many things down because if I don't I'll forget. But it definitely pertains to my housemates.
Peppermint: Used to help with sleep. I think this make sense because Ravenclaws are dreamers...and one dreams in a sleep state, obviously. So, that's why I think it's present.

There. She'd even finished up her notes while waiting for her tea to fully settle. Smiling down at the cup, Ves lifted it back to her lips and continued to enjoy her house tea.

Sip, sip, sip, siiiiiiiiiip.

Kat took her quill once more and dipped it inside her inkwell. This was the last one and then she'd be over with this. She could then sit for a bit and maybe try to finish her cup of tea, if only her tummy could manage. But for now, it was all about the herbs and the relations to Slytherin. Kat took a look at the herbs again and then listed them down on her parchment. Horsetail, nettle, lemon balm, and hibiscus. At least nothing gross and for the brave at hearts and bitter. Nothing like the Gryffindor one that was proooobably the not so good one. No wonder Kat couldn't be a Gryffindor.

Sarsparilla - Also the same with the dandelion leaf and basil. It's used for medicinal purposes and that stuff... yeah. Still the same.

Slytherin

Horsetail - Probably used for hair cos it's mineral-rich. Have you seen a Slytherin with bad hair? Nope.
Nettles - Known for its protective powers. This could be related to our desire to get anything we want and we won't let anyone stop us from getting it.
Lemon balm - Medicinal plant for emotional detox. Whatever that is. Also helps in combating insomnia and stress. We can set out feelings aside... sometimes. And uhm, yeah we might need lemon balm because school and homework.
Hibiscus - Used to treat loss of appetite and colds. Well, clearly we don't want anything to get in our way, right? That could be.

AND SHE WAS DONE. Everyone, she was done. Kat rewarded herself with a few sips of her Slytherin tea and an instant ticket to the bathroom... after the lesson.

Sophie smiled to herself as she looked down and re-read the three notes she'd taken so far. She'd done an awesome job. She just knew it. She turned her gaze toward the professor to see if it looked like she might call time soon. Sophie couldn't really tell, but it didn't look like anything new was going to happen anytime soon. So with that, she took another sip of her tea.

Hibiscus.

Sophie wrote the word on her parchment then stopped to think about what she knew about it. Finally, she began adding a few thoughts to her already-growing list of notes.

Quote:

Slytherin Tea

1. Horsetail - Horsetail has the ability to strengthen a person's bones. I think this is similar to Slytherins, because we're always looking for ways to make ourselves bigger and better. If we're stronger, we have a better chance of being on top, winning, and going after our goals.

2. Nettles - Nettles are known for their healing properties, so I think this might be good for the Slytherin tea, because it'll help make us as healthy as possible. Slytherins would want to be healthy, so they could always be at their best. We can't go around winning as much if we're sick, can we?

3. Lemon Balm - Although I really don't like anything lemon-y, I can see why this ingredient would be added to a Slytherin tea. Lemon balm is known to calm and soothe people. I can honestly see a Slytherin wanting to give this to someone rather than drink it themselves. They would want to calm someone to either help defeat them or help do better than them. If they did drink it themselves, though, it would probably be to help them calm down before a big exam or Quidditch match.

4. Hibiscus - Hibiscus is another one of those ingredients that can calm you down or soothe you, so I think it's really comparable to the lemon balm in many ways, particularly the way Slytherins might use the ingredient. To add to what I said before, Slytherins might also use this ingredient to relax in between stressful classes or homework assignments.

Going through each tea and finding its ingredients' properties was obviously going to be taking some time and some amount of being thorough. She was kinda wishing she hadn't drank all her tea before getting started because now she had nothing better to do but pay attention to the text she was reading. A class full of reading...it wasn't that bad considering the tea and all but now there was none left.

Of course...the Professor didn't say they had to limit themselves to four cups, did she? No? Well then!

Alexa reached for her cup, filled it with Gryffindor tea again, let it cool for a bit then went back to ingredient property searching. This time she was sipping her tea at a more leisurely pace. No rush. It had to last her through the reading.

Mmk, first up, Earl Grey Black Tea. Lex was VERY tempted to simply jot down that it had the word grey in it and so did the Grey Lady but she forced herself through the reading. Good for fevers...relaxant...nothing very useful, heh, what'd you know, it was like most Ravvies she'd known. Maybe the next one would look better on them. Lavender. It had properties like purification...happiness and peace?? Okay, someone remind her why the Ravvies got this again?

Oh wait here we go! The Ravvies' saving grace, Ginko. It fit and she got scribbling. She read through Peppermint as well...but felt she had something better to write down and so did.

SPOILER!!: Lex's Parchment

Ravenclaw Tea:
Earl grey black tea - Relaxant kinda like what the Ravenclaws are meant to be. They're supposedly the voice of reason in dangerous situations, keeping a calm head and stuff but pfffft, we all know how that goes. I also feel the need to point out the Grey because I'd feel I've robbed myself of knowledge if I didn't. Yes. Grey like the Grey Lady.

Lavender - Used in love potions, good for purification, happiness and peace but really I only see the last one. I guess you can count on them to try talking people out of fights with their so called 'logic' or whatever.

Ginko - Used as a memory and concentration enhancer. This one pretty much explains itself. They've been known to have these qualities. It's what keeps them so stereotypically smart.

Peppermint - Peppermint has a very distinct taste that, you can just always tell when it's in something. It's the same with Ravenclaws. They're very distinct. The moment they open their mouth you just kinda deadpan and go 'Ravenclaw, right?'. Am I the only one that notices this??

Post 5: brewing and uses of Hufflepuff tea!

Tora was getting a bit full of tea, so her cup of Hufflepuff was marginally smaller than the other two. Once again she let it sit while she looked up the uses of each of the words.

She found Caraway and Chickweed fairly easily, they were close to each other in the book before she moved onto licorice. The first thing she wrote down for licorice was candy. After that, she actually had to look up the uses in the book. Interesting that it was used as a sweetener, Tora found the taste quite bitter.

Hawthorn was next, which only meant fertility. She tried to look for more information but didn't come up with much she thought would be of use. That one would take some deductive thinking to figure out the meaning in regards to Hufflepuff House.

Sophie really needed to get a move on. Class was probably coming to an end soon, and she still had three more types of tea to taste. Ewww. She really didn't want to drink anymore tea, but ehhh...she guessed she could for class credit. Seeing as she was through with her Slytherin tea now, she needed to make a glass of another house's tea.

Ravenclaw.

That's the one she'd do. It was random, but she had to choose some house, so Ravenclaw it would be. She began the process of preparing another cup--Aguamenti, Chaudensis...all the steps she'd done before. The only difference was that this time, she added in the Ravenclaw blend instead of the Slytherin blend. Once she'd made the tea, she blew on it a bit then took a few sips.

Ravenclaw Tea

1. Earl Grey Black Tea - You know what I think about when I think of this ingredient? The Grey Lady! She's the Ravenclaw house ghost, you know. So regardless of what this ingredient means, just the word Grey alone represents this house.

2. Lavender - One of the ways lavender is used is to make you feel better after a night of insomnia. Insomnia, as you may know, is lack of sleep. Why would this relate to Ravenclaws? Well, because they're really into studying, homework, and probably putting in a lot of late nights doing both.

3. Gingko - Gingko can improve thinking in young people (and old people, but that's beside the point here). I would think the Ravenclaws would appreciate this ingredient, because they're the big thinkers in this school. They'd be the ones who would most appreciate an ingredient that would make them even sharper thinkers.

4. Peppermint - The only information I could really find for peppermint that might apply to Ravenclaw house is using it to relieve headaches. There are many reasons a Ravenclaw might get a headache, including stress or Quidditch-related injuries.

Post 6: Meaning of Hufflepuff

The Hufflepuff meanings being slightly more obscure than the others gave Tora a bit of trouble. Caraway was the most obvious as it was a companion plant. In other words, Hufflepuffs helped protect their friends. They were loyal. Check, done, next. Chickweed was a bit harder, and Tora sat for a couple minutes thinking hard. She decided to skip that one and come back, maybe after she finished the others she would be able to think of a meaning for that one. Licorice could represent the love Hufflepuffs have for things, but it also raises blood pressure. Maybe Hufflepuffs need a bit more excitement in their lives. Hawthorn was another protective meaning, or so Tora discerned. It was used as a hedge and was thorny.

She went back to thinking about Chickweed. If something was everywhere, then wouldn't you be able to get it when you need it? Finally she had it! The plant was dependable and so were Hufflepuffs! She scribbled down the last Hufflepuff note and sipped the now cooled tea.

Of all the teas she had tried thus far, Hufflepuff was her least favorite.

Kace was relieved that he finished all the tea's. He didn't mind tasting all, some of them he preferred better than others. But maybe his parents should try this sometime since they are tea lover possibly Belle too....

Anyways! He got out his notebook and saw all his notes so far.

SPOILER!!: Kace's Notebook

Gryffindor Tea:
Dandelion leaf - is used to treat upset stomach, decrease swelling and even treat infections especially viral. Acts like a skin toner.
Borage - is also used to cure many diseases. It protects or nurses legumes, spinach or strawberries. It is used in companion planting.
Basil - provide protection against unwanted bacterial growth. It helps with cardiovascular health.
Sarsaparilla - treats skin diseases. Plant that is hard to remove. Even Athlete's used this herb as a steroid.

Ravenclaw Tea:
Earl Gray- cures illnesses such as colds. It has caffeine for energy. It improves oral health. It keeps away depression and anxiety.
Peppermint- relaxation, soothes stomach, helps with weight loss
Lavender- good for rest and relaxation
Gingko-used for memory and concentration

Hufflepuff Tea:
Caraway- Fruit can be used as a spice. The roots can be used to cook. Fruit oil is used in fragrances. Medicinal uses for stomach complaints.
Chickweed- Treats itchy skin and pulmonary diseases, can be used as a raw veggie in salads.
Hawthorn- Resemble crabapple fruits. Used to make jams, jellies, juices, alcoholic beverages, and other drinks. Decrease fatigue and helps with heart disease.
Licorice-Used in potions, creates Harmony

Slytherin Tea:
Horsetail- strengthen your bones
Nettles-cures small injuries, can sting drinker, said to have protective powers.
Lemon Balm- Improves your mood
Hibiscus- lowers blood pressure.

Alright it seemed all good all together. Now he needed to make the connections to the houses. He wrote them down separately so he wouldn't get confused.

SPOILER!!: Even more notes

Connections to the houses:
Hufflepuff:
Caraway plant acts like a loyal companion. So Loyalness has to do with the Hufflepuffs!
Hawthorn is a protective plant, so the hufflepuffs are protective.
Licorice- Loving! Because Hufflepuffs are loving and true.
Chickweed-Unafraid of toil.

Slytherin:
Horesetail: This could be used for slytherins for their determination because they always strive to be bigger and better.
Nettles: could work here because slytherins would want to be healthy right?
Lemon Balm: Improves your mood, by looking at their qualities, it says fraternity, so when they are in a big group of people it can always seem to improve your mood.
Hibiscus: Resourcefulness could be used here for Hibiscus because they could use a potion ingredient to calm themselves down and lower their blood pressure.

Ravenclaw:
Earl Gray- It has caffeine for energy so i think that could help them out if they are using their intelligence for studying and it could also help their health.
Peppermint- Cures their anxiety for big exams.
Lavender- who wouldn't wanna relax and be mellow? Ravenclaws deserve to relax and have a good time because of all the hard work they but their brains through.
Gingko- Could be used for their wit and intelligence because it talks about mind concentration. Ravenclaws always seem to be one step ahead of the game or they like to really sit down and understand the situation.

Gryffindor:
Dandelion Leaf: could be used for their chivalry because dandelions treat the victim.
Borage: It would help the gryffindors with their health. It also protects so their courage could be used here.
Basil: Gryffindor’s are brave. So basil uses protection against bacterial growth just like a Gryffindor would protect their friends from harm.
Sarsaparilla: It is a daring plant to try. So I think daring for the gryffindors could be used. This plant can be dangerous but it also could have benefits to your health.

There now he was done with the assignment and waited for more directions.

With a clean cup now, Adi added in the Ravenclaw tea. He wondered how this would taste. The previous two had been absolutely delicious and he hoped this would be the same.

"Aguamenti!'
' Water streamed into the cup. "Finite!'' Now to try this newly learnt spell again. "Chaudensis!" Oh yaaaay! It worked! Awesomeeee! Adi raised the cup to his lips and sipped. What did it taste like?

With all this done, Sarah had time to drink her tea in piece. She chose her favourite blend and added water to her cup that had the tea bag already in it. It wpuld be weaker then if she had taken another tea bag, yet she would have to ask permission to take another teabag, or else it would be stealing. People did think that she took this stealing thing too seriously, their logic being 'what difference will it make? She never specified one tea bag? She would not even notice. Maybe they are cheap anyway?' But Sarah did not think that it would be right to take such calls on it. She had to do what was right ALWAYS! It was good to have moral standing.. one of the reasons that she was a Gryffindor was that she stuck to her principles through thick and thin, even if it was unpopular.Maybe she should add that to her partchment? Now that she realised that she had time, she decided to add a bit more to her partchment. After somre writing and moving around, her partchment looked like this:
SPOILER!!: Completed notes

Gryffindor Tea
Ingredients: : Dandelion leaf, borage, basil, sarsparilla
In depth Analysis:
Dandelion Leaf
  • Good for the digestive system = Lions and Gryffindors are really into their food
  • Very nutritious = when brave Lions go on a mission, they need all the vitamins and nutrients in their bones
  • Hidden in the word Dandelion is the word lion: Dandelion
Borage
  • Good for the heart = As a brave house, Gryffindor needs healthy and brave hearts
  • Grows well in UK and able to self-seed = Hogwarts breeds Gryffindors that are needed to keep the magical community in UK going, notable Gryffindors like Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter did just that
.

Basil
Basil in Greek means King, kings aree known for strength so are Gryffindors. It can also mean valiant, and Gryffindor is defined like that

SARSPARILLA
  • It grows prickly, and Gryffindors have thick skin and a tough exterior.
  • It also bubbly, and our Gryffindors all bubble in their own way, either talkative (like me), energetic (Like Zahra Kettleburn), have tempers and many other manifestations.

RavenclawTea
Ingredients: Earl Grey, gingko, lavender, and peppermint
In depth Analysis:
Earl Grey:
  1. Has Caffeine, needed by Ravenclaws due to late night studying
  2. Some Ravenclaws are intellectuals who prefer to stay indoors, thus lacking the boosts being outside in the sun provides them. Thus Earl Grey can be used to boost the immune system .
  3. Bergamot is found in Earl Grey and can be used to release stress. Ravenclaws know a lot, and can therefore feel very stressed, with the complexities of the world on them.

Perhaps there is another play on words here, as Earl Grey is named after an Earl by that name. The wife of an Earl is a lady, hence her title being Lady Grey. The House Ghost of Ravenclaw is The Grey Lady
Ginkgo:
  1. Has a crown.. just like the diadem of Ravenclaw
  2. It also boosts brain power and elongates concentration periods. It also helps oxygen get to the brain, which helps fight memory loss
Lavender:
  1. Among the colours this plant comes in is blue, the colour for Ravenclaws.
  2. Used in aromatherapy to treat headaches among others, Ravenclaws may get headaches from thinking too much or learning too much in their desire for knowledge
Peppermint:
  1. Both a stimilunt and relaxtant. Ravenclaws need to think, yet stressing would make them forget things. Therefore they need one that helps them think without the side effects of stress.
  2. Refreshing... with their wit and brain power, Ravenclaws always have a refreshing bit of information to share

Slytherin Tea
Ingredients: Hibiscus, Horsetail, Nettles and Lemon Balm
In depth Analysis:
HORSETAIL This plant was used by snake charmers in the past, this plant also looks like it could be used for scouring. The Slytherin House are very into blood purity, ‘cleaning out’ magical blood. This plant is green in colour, just like the Slytherin House colour
NETTLES
Can be used for shampoos... some male Slytherin students I know are really into their hair
Good for blood, and for a house founded on blood purity this is great
The Slytherins can be a prickly bunch

LEMON BALM: This plant shoots up quickly, just like the ambitions of the the Slytherin students. (And the heights of others.. West-style)

HIBISCUS: Its a showy and very red plant, the redness could be compared to Salaazer Slytherin being finniky about blood purity.

Hufflepuff Tea
Ingredients: Caraway, Hawthorn, Licorice and Chickweed
In depth Analysis:CARAWAY Good for stomach = Hufflepuffs are generous, so being among them will be good for your stomach as they will feed you

HAWTHORN A favourite of the badger, Hufflepuff's mascot. This is said to be a symbol of hope, probably for those unwanted by the other houses (without brains, courage or pure blood) Hufflepuff is hope. (Of course most students that land in Hufflepuff are meant to be there, as they are just plain ol’ good.

LICORICE According to some, it represent Harmony, a trait of the Hufflepuff house.Used in sweets worldwide, just like our Puffs are said to be sweet. Also Licorice is a matter of taste

CHICKWEED This is used to be food for the chickens... as cowards (Chickens) tend to pick on puffs. Perhaps this can remind us what happened at the 1994 Triwizard, when Cedric Diggory, was killed in the centre of the maze by Voldemort and his Death Eaters. He was the food for those chicken. They are common and their flowers are white and dainty. Hufflepuffs are pure(white) and dainty -not wanting to hurt anyone

With that behind her, Sarah refilled her tea cups and had more of each, well except the Hufflepuff one. Whose Idea was it to put in Licorice? She did not drink the Ravenclaw one either, no more caffeine for her, or else she would not sleep.
She looked around, and smiled at Lexa across the table. "What is your favourite kind of tea?" she asked her friend.

Post 7: uses and meanings of Ravenclaw

Finally she was on to her own House tea, Ravenclaw. She had waited for this for quite a while now, having been busy with the other teas and so she eagerly poured some hot water into the Ravenclaw cut with the Ravenclaw teabag she had placed in there at the beginning of the activity. She now went to go look up information about the herbs, not yet trying the tea because it was too hot.

The meanings for Ravenclaw were much clearer then Hufflepuff, and Tora quickly discerned that Earl Grey or "Lady Grey" could stand for the ghost of Ravenclaw Tower and that it could also be used to alleviate massive amounts of stress Ravenclaws might put on themselves during their search for knowledge. Lavender was a plant that could also be blue, one of Ravenclaw's House colors, but it was a plant that could also help Ravvies relax and be happy after a stressful day. Gingko improves sleep and gives the drinker energy which would definitely come in handy for a Claw, and finally Peppermint which improves alertness and memory. She noticed that all of Ravenclaw's herbs were meant to help them calm down and improve their learning. Something that she greatly appreciated.

Oh lookit, she was on to the Slythering tea now in her note taking. They were the ones with the tea that tasted different but not in a bad way. Wonder what they're tea would say about them. For starters she didn't know what any of these herbs were, like she'd seen hibicus before but...horsetail was new. Very new. Good thing she wasn't one to take things too literally or that wouldnt' have ended all that well.

Actually, come to think of it, she'd heard of nettles before as well. So in the end the tea wasn't all that strange it just tasted strange but again, not in a bad way, just a different way.

Horsetail seemed like it did just about EVERYTHING, she simply stopped reading and moved on after awhile. This one seemed to show a lot of promise for curing this ridiculously long list of things. She got. It had potential, could she keep moving now? Oh oh oh, a little interesting fact about lemon balm among all it's information. It grows readily, even in cracks along the pavement. Good stuff.

The last one, hibiscus, was all kinds of confusing. You know what we do with confusing herbs? We ramble nonesense about them, obviously.

Lex glanced over when Sarah spoke. She gave a small shrug. [b]"I don't really like tea so I don't have a favourite.

SPOILER!!: Lex's Parchment
Slytherin Tea: Horsetail - Good at most everything, Slytherins like thinking this of themselves. I've talked to a few of them, I should know.

Nettles - This is a promising herb. The snakes are promising. Really ambitious and out to get anything they set their mind to done.

Lemon balm - It grows readily. Reminds me of them because they're always right there when an opportunity presents itself. Willing to go through even unfavourable conditions.

Hibiscus - It's a pretty plant. Slytherins have pretty faces. I've noticed.

And now onto the puffers...

These shouldn't have been so hard. She took another sip of her tea, now on the last leg of this note taking thing. She scanned through the book making little juttings here and there, took more sips of her drink, you know, the usually when taking notes. She'd be finished any minute now and by the looks of it, so would her tea.

SPOILER!!: Lex's Parchment
Hufflepuff Tea: Caraway - Good for the stomach. Puffers are known for food. Food goes into the stomach making this plant real legit.

Chickweed - Honestly, the only connection I see here is that chickens eat it, chickens are food when you cook them. Food. Puffer. Yes but only 'cuase they're so close to the kitchen.

Licorice - This herb is good for the stomach, has properties that make it right. I remember it because of candy. Candy's sweet and so are the puffers. A little too sweet sometimes but eh.

Hawthorn leaf and flower - The berries are bright and in your face, so are puffers, those guys like getting all up on you with hugs and stuff. It's almost creepy. Almost.

Now that she had gotten the Gryffindor tea and was ready to start drinking it, Min gathered her notes so far looking over them. Making sure they were all there. Well it seemed they were at least. Now it was time to do the last one. Sipping the lion's brand of tea Min started flipping through the pages once more. Starting to get a little bored with the activity her mind started going other places, but she forced focus. Maybe she needed more Ravenclaw tea.

Finding Dandelion in her book she began to right her notes. Well lion was in the word so why not put it in the tea. Next she looked up basil. This one was a common one she actually knew well from cooking different things. Finding it in the book she thought about the ways it could be used for Gryffindor.

SPOILER!!: Gryffindor

Dandelion- good for digestive, very nutritious
Basil - cardiovascular health, protects against bacteria

Connections to Gryffindor

Dandelion- says lion on it, works are to keep a person healthy like the lions work hard.
Basil- protects just like Gryffindor protects each other.

Letting out a small yawn Min flipped through the book to find the final ingredients of the tea.

Ugggh! It tasted horrible! Adi did not like the flavour and he knew why instantly. He could taste the lavender. And he hated lavender with a passion. Resisting the urge to spit out the tea, he swallowed and cautiously sipped some more. He needed to taste the other herbs after all. But he quickly began to write:

SPOILER!!: Adi's Notes
Ravenclaw Tea:
Lavender: Has Anti inflammatory properties. Also used in salads and dressings. Claws can be unafraid to try new things to seek knowledge.

Earl Gray Black Tea:
Used as an Anti oxidant. Claws maybe like to hang around those who also seek knowledge.
Gingko: Used to help with memory disorders. Ravenclaws have good memories. How else do they remember so much stuff?
Peppermint: Used to flavour stuff like tea and ice cream. I suppose Ravenclaws like to flavour their lives with information.

Great! He was done with the Claw's tea!

So things were coming along pretty good by now. Looking around, Sophie noted that it didn't look like class would be ending or they'd be moving on anytime soon. GOOD, because that meant Sophie didn't have to chug down two cups of tea in record time just to get finished. Again, she wasn't the greatest fan of tea. Maybe when she was a little older, but no, not now.

There were only two types of tea to try now, and that was the Gryffindor blend and the Hufflepuff blend. Knowing it really didn't matter which one she did first, Sophie randomly reached for a bag and chose the Gryffindor blend.

Now, note taking time...

Quote:

Gryffindor Tea

1. Dandelion leaf - Dandelion leaves can be used to make up for a loss of appetite or simply just to add to foods as an ingredient. Gryffindors are the bold and courageous ones. They're always out to do really bold acts for others, and I could imagine them really working up an appetite.

2. Borage - Borage can be used for growth and development. I think Gryffindors might use this ingredient to help make them stronger and more able-bodied for all those acts of courage they get themselves involved in.

3. Basil - Basil is considered one of the healthiest ingredients out there. Again, going off the idea that Gryffindors get themselves involved in lots of brave and courageous acts, they may need to use this type of ingredient to help keep them be as able-bodied as possible or make them well if and when they get sick.

4. Sarsparilla - This is not a very widely used tea, so most people don't know much about it. Having said that, trying this type of blend would take a very bold and brave person--a Gryffindor, namely. I think the daring nature of trying the tea relates to how Gryffindors take on things.

The Hufflepuff blend was next up for brewing, which Cutty hoped tasted as good as it smelled. He used the, by now familiar water-conjuring spell to fill the cup and with his wand, following it with the heating spell.

"Chaudensis!", he said taking aim and warming the tea cup. The chinaware clinked as Cutty pulled the Slyherin tea in closer to him to taste it and double check the ingredients. Was this going to make him a Supa-Slyth? He. The slight sweet heat of the hibiscus hit him after the lemonbalm and he learned to associate that with Supa-Slyth tea. It was followed by the nettles and horsetail, which Cutty thought didn't do much and had a much more subtle flavour when brewed. He still had this and the remaining tea from the Ravenclaw blend left to contend with and again with clinking he pushed the two afore-sipped cups to the upper left corner of his workspace.

Cutty took his cup of Gryffindor tea that he'd earlier brewed and took a whiff. This one had a definite medicinal scent to it and he decided that this was NOT going to be a pleasant experience. One sip in confirmed his presumption, though it was more of a reaction based on his preconceived notion. A domineering bitter-sweet flavour and something Cutty thought reminded him of a spaghetti he'd had at La Strega Cucina before. Maybe it was the green stuff he tried to pick out. Basil.

He noted his two guesses before taking another reluctant sip. Another green note which he thought was a little spinachy. Was it spinach? Was that even allowed in tea blending?!! Maybe it was another type of green? Cutty swallowed what he had in his mouth and rather than taking another sip looked down into the cup and saw a likely culprit in a ragged edged green. He'd seen these before. A field of them near the city park. Cutty went back to work again dipping his finger in the pinkish-coloured blend to drag out what looked like a pressed blue star flower. Not spotting any other different bits in the tea as he peered down into the cup, Cutty pushed the Gryffindor tea aside as well and set to the work of finding meanings for each of the plants he'd identified while sipping the Hufflepuff blend.

Okay, by this time, Sophie was sure of two things. One, she had to go to the bathroom after drinking all this tea; and two, she was really, really tired of note taking. Her hand hurt, and it was almost unbearable to think about having to take this very last set of notes. Just one more, though. Just the Hufflepuff tea, and she'd be DONE.

She pushed away the first three cups of tea (she really needed to get a cleaning spell from one of the others at her table) and quickly used the Hufflepuff blend to make one last cup of tea. She was done in no time, especially considering she'd just made three other cups of tea, and then she tested the product. Okay, one last set of notes. She could do this.

Quote:

Hufflepuff Tea

1. Caraway - There's a legend that says caraway prevents lovers from falling out of love with one another. This is a definite Hufflepuff trait, because it relates to being loyal to another person, and that's what Hufflepuffs are all about.

2. Chickweed - I really don't see many connections here, but...there's got to be something, or else it wouldn't be in the blend. Grabbing at straws here, but it is used as a medicine for many different ailments, and I think Huffepuffs are always there for their friends to help them out. Not just in ways medicine would but in all ways, really.

3. Licorice - Licorice is actually used alongside many other ingredients to create a medicine of sorts. This reminds me of how loyal and friendly Hufflepuffs can be--always sticking by others and not leaving their sides.

4. Hawthorn leaf and flower - Hawthorn is used in wands for people who seem to be passing through a time of turmoil. I would think that Hufflepuffs are always so worried about others and wanting to stay so loyal to them that often times it can cause an inner, conflicting turmoil for them.
