Text Cut: Forrest Tora was just in the library to return a few books, or well, that's what she had told herself before she was lured in to the world of the written page. She smiled as she wandered the shelves, not looking for anything in particular when she found herself somewhere by the Restricted Section. Maybe it was best if she didn't go over here; wouldn't want someone to think that she was trying to do something she wasn't supposed to! If she needed to get into the restricted section, she would go at night when she could sneak in without being seen. Moving past that area of the library, Tora found herself in front of a little alcove-y sort of thing that she hadn't noticed before. Wandering inside she noticed Forrest was also there- great! A friend to read with! She could just go over and say 'hello', but she that was no fun, so she did what any other twelve year old would do. Surprise him! She grinned and walked up behind him, covering his eyes with her hands. She didn't say 'Guess who?' 'cause that would give away her voice, but she laughed quietly a bit to herself. He would never guess! |

There was no other solution than guessing who this RUDE person was. Stopping fighting, he sighed and just stood there thinking for a moment. Oh, oh! He knew! "You're Bristol!" He was so clever! |

Tora laughed a little bit more, her face lighting up with the fun of the game. She made her voice REALLY DEEP and said "Nope." before continuing in a really really high voice "I'm not Bristol!" More bits of laughter. "Guess again!" she started that one off in her real voice but, realizing her mistake partway through the word 'guess' had slid her voice all around the scale so he couldn't know who it was. Oops. That slip up might have just lost her the game. Hopefully not though! |
Quote:
"Tora!" Y'know when adrenaline pumps in your veins you're more careful than ever? That was the case here. He didn't miss that 'guess' word, and he was sure he guessed correctly. He just... couldn't believe it. Tora, the always serious and clever Tora, would sneak up on innocent people like him. He grinned. Apparently, everyone needed some fun. |
Marigold walked into this ROOM and STARED. WHAAAAAAT WAS THIS ROOM. She anxiously looked around for someone who could tell her. WHAAAAT. |

Tora looked about Forrest, noting all the magazines, and especially the one in his hand. ...Minister of Magic? She didn't really peg Forrest as that sort of type, but well, you never know. Maybe he was just browsing; still, her eyebrows went up slightly as she spotted it. "I have no clue what I want to be when I get older." She said gesturing to the magazine. "Probably something to do with Transfiguration or really more Astronomy... but I don't really know." She should think about it though, in a couple years were OWLs and then NEWTS and those and the classes you chose to take really determined what job you could get after school. |

"Weeeeeell, you aren't exactly the type that would... close people's eyes from behind. Not that it's a bad thing! I mean, I like you as you are but, y'know... um..." He flushed. He never should have opened his mouth. He hurried to talk about careers instead. But it was hard to hurry when she was amazing him. He'd opened his mouth to talk about professions, but instead he found himself staring at him while he felt even more hopeless. If even TORA GALLAWAY didn't know what she wanted to be, what should he do? Honestly, it took all his strength not to cover his head with his hands in desperation. "At least you know some areas... I have absolutely NO clue at all." He sighed. He looked horribly hopeless with eyebrows' tips tilted upwards and creasing his forehead. "I mean... I should decide which classes I should take for next year, but I don't know anything! What will you pick?" Maybe he would just pick the same classes for |

Ohhhhh, she was just flattered. That was probably it, and it would explain the blush. She smiled a bit to remedy the frown and focused back on the just friendly conversation. Luckily she had missed Forrest staring at her with a loss for words while she was analyzing herself and the conversation at hand and quickly came up with a response to his comments and question. "Well, why don't you start by thinking about what you like to do? What're your favorite classes? You don't have to be good at them, you just have to like 'em. I think you should do something you like, you'll end up being more successful." she offered up a tidbit of advice, basically what she was making her decisions on. Though she was pretty good at Astronomy if she did say so herself. Speaking of which... "Well I have no interest in History, though I'm pretty sure that's required. So elective-wise I was thinking of Divination 'cause it has Astronomy references and things and Ancient Runes because I find it fascinating." she said right off the bat, she had already thought about this a couple times. Suddenly, saying it out loud, she felt a bit insecure about her choices and quickly added, "But I'm not really sure." She moved to "look" at the magazine titles, just as a distraction to cover up her ( |

Text Cut: Tora She played games too? Forrest nodded. It was good to know. She was lucky he didn't pay attention to that 'sometimes' part. He was taking that as a permission to play little pranks on her. Yeeeeep. She was on his list too. That was, if he survived the desperation and indecision. Favourite classes? What he liked to do? He wanted to WHINE loudly, but didn't do just so he wouldn't look like a spoilt baby. "I don't know what the classes are for!" he said in a voice that was only one tone away from whining. "Divination obviously guesses the future and C-O-M-C treats animals but take Ancient Runes for example. Just how much ancient is it? And can muggleborns take muggle studies too? I think we can't drop classes, but I certainly wouldn't mind switching potions with C-O-M-C." The creasing on his forehead just deepened. "But you've already decided!" Now he WAS whining in misery. "Sure or not, you have an idea whereas I'm just... doomed." And he wasn't exaggerating. His father had ordered him to learn all the details about these new classes by this weekend and then choose the BEST ones, but he'd spent the days in overworrying and practising Quidditch. Pout. |
Quote:
She hoped her answer would be sufficient enough for her friend to stop whining. Please. She didn't want to get mad at Forrest, but she might have to if he kept talking like that. "Yes, Muggleborns can take Muggle Studies. Yes, I have an idea, but nothing else! You don't see me freaking out, so you don't need to either,"[/b] she raised her eyebrows. "Proof? We're gonna figure this out right now so you don't have to worry about it. That way you'll have an idea of what to take next year and we'll be on the same page." she finished up, resigning herself to possibly even more whining. Hopefully not. She had said that they would figure it out, but it would take a hell of a lot longer if Forrest focused on whining and not the classes. Speaking of whining... Tora gave Forrest a smile to show that she was ready to help, and that everything was fine and dandy. As long as he didn't whine. |
Text Cut: Tora Not doomed? Not doomed, not doomed, not doomed--Viking? Forrest listened to his friend carefully. Symbols--he kind of liked those, but he wasn't so sure either. "I guess I should speak to Professor Hadley," he said at last. But she was the muggle studies teacher. Would she be offended if he told her he didn't want to take her class? |
Quote:
"Great idea!" Tora let out a small breath, relieved that she wouldn't have to deal with more whining. Forrest was her friend, and she would help him if she could, but she could only take so much here. "So aside from classes, what's up?" they hadn't talked much in the last couple weeks, both probably too busy, at least Tora had been, and she was curious as to what her friend had been up to. Not much probably, but it was a start. Maybe she should make her question more specific. Of course the first thing that came to mind was, "How're you doing with Benzi?" what? She felt a flash of annoyance, not just the usual one that appeared whenever Benzi was mentioned, but an additional one at herself for mentioning him. "Actually forget him," she scowled, then floundered searching for someone else to talk about. So she came up with the next worst topic. "How's Fern?" Ugh, two people that hated her and that she hated. Well sort of. She didn't hate Fern, and had actually been trying to get to know her better (if Forrest was her friend, then why not Tora?), but apparently she had said some unforgivable remark about the Hexy Boyz or whatever which had placed her at the top of Fern's TO HATE FOR ALL ETERNITY list. She forced her face into something of a smile and just resorted to asking, "How's the both of them?" If she had already asked, might as well ask about both. She wasn't getting out of this. |

Text Cut: <33 Great idea, yes, right, alright. Forrest nodded, more to himself. First thing to do Benzi? Forrest made a face, but before he could say anything, Tora was asking another question. Fern--he looked outright disgusted now, and sighed in the end. "Benzi's... I haven't met him after... that, and I don't want to. He's just..." He didn't want to call him 'silly', his mother had taught him some manners. "...weird. No, not weird... I don't know what, but something repulsive for sure." He made a face. He was sure Tora shared his feelings. "And I don't want to see Fern again." He crossed his arms and frowned deeply. "She's obsessed with love. She thinks I love Bristol and that Bristol loves me and she tried to make us a couple! Eeeeew! That's disgusting." And he was, of course, oblivious to the fact that Tora was also a girl and might find it offensive. But CLEARLY, she was DEVOID of such silly thoughts like love and dating. *shudder* "I mean, I love her of course. She's my best friend. But not that way!" That way was obviously more disgusting than vomit. |
Text Cut: Forrest ^_^ Oh. So Forrest didn't like-like Fern then? Judging by his face, it was pretty clear that he didn't anyway. But he was talking about Benzi now. "I know. Sometimes he just really gets on my nerves, wait, not sometimes, all the time. And his pal, Snake... he's almost worse!" she agreed. "So you guys aren't really friends," she half asked, half stated. It was kind of obvious to Tora that they weren't, but who knew? They could be that type of friends that are super mean to each other but are still friends; the type of friends that Tora would consider enemies, but eh, it was Forrest's social life, not Tora's. And he wasn't just plain old friends with Fern either; well that was a relief. Now that Fern was no longer Forrest's friend, Tora didn't have to make too much of an effort to be nice and if the other puffer ticked her off, Tora wouldn't have to try to make peace all the time. It was rather annoying to try to make friends with someone who hated your guts, and now that problem was solved. "I don't think I've met Bristol yet. Officially. I mean I've seen her out and about, but I haven't actually said 'hi', she looks nice though." Tora mused at the mention of Forrest's best friend. Best friend, and not girlfriend. Tora wrinkled her nose at the thought. "I don't know about all that love stuff. It's a bit... dramatic for me," she didn't think love was disgusting, just a bit superfluous for someone her age (she would worry about that later 'n stuff), and gave a little frown of disagreement when Forrest mentioned that he thought it was. He was a boy though, it was to be expected. "I totally get what you mean! About having a friend that is just a friend," she said nodding her head. After a beat or two she came up with and example, "Like you and me," she gave a big friendly grin at Forrest. She liked him as just friends, right? |
Clearly, he wasn't the only one that disliked Benjamin, and that was a relief. Forrest nodded while she explained and leaned on the shelves for support. They had been standing for too long after all, and his legs were kind of tired. He didn't even notice, though. Talking to Tora about how he felt about certain people was nice, and he wasn't going to cut it off to sit down. "You mean Cutty? I don't know much about him... but I know snakes aren't to be trusted. And yes, Benjamin and I aren't friends." And it wasn't a loss, really. If a clever girl like Tora didn't like him, then he really wasn't worth it. His face shone again and he couldn't help but grin. "I'm sure you'll just love her!" he said again. "She's pretty cool. She forgave us even though Fern made me lie to her." His face darkened at the memory, but he didn't linger much on it. "It is dramatic, with all the--" he looked around as if he was saying something very rude and offensive, "kissing and breaking up." So, it wasn't his thing, and he was SURE Tora would never date someone too. It was harder to fool clever people, after all. He copied her BIG grin. "Exactly! Friends like you 'n' me!" He liked her as a close friend and nothing would change that. He would make sure of it. Standing silently for a few seconds, his face fell. "I think I really should go to Professor Hadley." He sighed. "You comin'?" Although she wasn't her head of house. |
Cutty? "Ohhhh. So that's his name... I never knew so I always just called him Snake." it seemed to suit him well enough, maybe she would just keep calling him that. Tora nodded her head in agreement to the no-trusting-snakes bit; she knew a fair amount of them that were really slippery in the honesty department. Tora grinned again when the topic turned away from people she didn't particularly care for to the potential of a new friend. Bristol... she really had to meet this girl sometime soon! She sounded just like the kind of person Tora would like to hang out with. Then Forrest mentioned something about Fern and lying. The Ravenclaw wasn't surprised that the two happened to be in the same sentence, but she was surprised that Forrest had been the one doing the lying. Though he did say he had been tricked... Her forehead crinkled a bit "What did-" she started to ask before she caught herself just in time. She might be curious about what Forrest had said but she had noticed his face when he said it. Obviously he wanted to move on from that topic, so Tora decided to move on too. She leaned in when Forrest did and made a scandalized face when he talked about kissing. Sure she didn't mind the concept of love, and she guessed quick kisses on the cheek or something like that were OK, but full on kissing? That just sounded nasty. "I don't know why that's even considered a good thing to do," she said nodding in agreement, an expression of distaste written across her face. There were very few things she wasn't curious about. Kissing, real kissing, was one of them. She had seen enough to satisfy her curiosity and it looked blehhhhh. Another smile for Forrest, one of her best friends. Really, it was so much easier and less dramatic if she just had friends and none of that boyfriend/girlfriend business that she saw the older students getting into. And friends were fun to talk to! You didn't have to worry about when to kiss them or whatever, you could just talk. Speaking of which... Forrest wanted to go to Professor Hadley. She thought for a split second before nodding. "Why not?" she laughed. "I've got nothing else to do now!" Then she thought of another fun thing to do. grinning slyly this time she turned to look at the Puffer sideways. "So you said I'm not the type to have fun?" if it was possible, she seemed even more mischievous now. "You wanna race?" |
'Snake'? The name suited him. Cutty hadn't really done any harm to him, but his Slytherin-ness was enough to make him a suspect. Forrest nodded to show he both understood her and liked the name 'Snake'. And he clearly missed the incomplete question of hers, because he was looking at her with big eyes when she talked about K-action. "I won't ever do it," he said so surely. Then... she suggested something FUN and... "This is how you race!" he exclaimed suddenly while pushing her closest shoulder down (it wouldn't hurt, but it would give him a good headstart) and started to run wildly to the exit. He'd already beaten Captain Ella. Tora would be a piece of cake. |
Whooaaaa! She had barely said the word "race" when Forrest had shot past her, pushing her shoulder so he could get ahead. "Hey!" she yelled after him, laughing as she dashed around the corner of a bookshelf and past the front library desk. She didn't even stop to think of how much noise she must be making, she just RAN! Nearly catching up with Forrest, she suddenly got lost behind a huge stack of floating books flying through the air to their respective shelves. Billywig rot! She dodged the books, and several students sitting at desks, before she finally spotted Forrest by the door. Still grinning, the Ravenclaw put on a burst of speed to try and catch her friend as they raced out the door. She would win this one! Forrest was going doooowwwwnn. |
